One of the most painful and frustrating things for parents is watching their child make bad choices and “throw it all away.” Some of these choices include running with the wrong crowd, dropping out of school, drinking and doing drugs, and engaging in risky behavior. The difficult truth is, you don't have control over your child's choices. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support

Having role models in our life is very important, and having good role models is more important, as they influence what we do and how we turn out eventually. As adults, it is easy to assume that we know everything and that we have already heard all the stories. The truth is that many of us don't ask questions enough. There's no better way to become more knowledgeable then listening to the advice of others with an open mind. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Being independent is highly useful when you're single. A certain amount of independence is also beneficial for you when in relationship. But too much independence might inhibit the inherent emotional tie to your partner. It's natural to become emotionally interdependent in intimate relationships but if you're too prone to “independence,” this natural state may become compromised. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support

Many children who are sexually abused don't tell anyone about it and many keep their secret all their lives. People who sexually abuse children are more likely to be people we know, and could well be people we care about. They are family members or friends, neighbors or babysitters - many hold responsible positions in society. The closer the relationship between the child and the person carrying out the abuse, the less likely the child is to talk about it. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Dating at any age can be a bit daunting, but once you've hit your 40s, you're dealing with a whole new set of challenges. At this point your baggage might include a divorce, a couple of kids in tow, and a rewarding but stressful career. Where, then, do you find the time to fit in love? Or, perhaps you've delayed marriage, and now, well-established in your career, you don't want to miss out on finding a companion. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Ending toxic relationships and letting go of toxic people is never easy, but you need to take a hard look at the signs your marriage or relationship is in trouble and take adequate action to mend it or walk out of it. There will be times when you have doubts about your relationship, wondering if the person you are with is actually ‘the one' for you. You may often find yourself questioning your decision to stay with them over and over again. If that is the case, it is possible your relationship might be toxic for you. It is not good for any of us to be in a relationship with no love. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Traumatic childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, loss of a loved one, domestic violence, parental substance abuse, and other life-altering events impact how a child views him or herself and responds to the world. Traumatic events can have lifelong consequences. The more adverse childhood experiences a person has, the higher their risk of health and wellness problems later in life. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Women internalize things and tend to blame themselves first, thinking it's because they have done something wrong, or that they are no longer attractive to their partner. In fact, the first thing a woman thinks when a man can't get an erection is that it's her fault, and nothing could be further from the truth. The Vintage Gentleman and guest Tamonica discuss the issue of men 40 and up not being able to get or keep it up. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
Thinking about ending a relationship is never simple, especially when you have years invested in your partner. It's so easy to make excuses for the person you're dating, to convince yourself to stay with them even if you know, deep down, that it's not working out. No one actually wants to go through a breakup—it's painful, it takes a long time to recover, and the process can make anyone feel just plain lonely. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
All children need guidance and discipline—not as punishment, but to set reasonable limits. Remind your children of the consequences of their actions and provide meaningful rewards for desirable behavior. Consistency is important. Be consistent with enforcing the boundaries you set in your home. Inconsistency will confuse your child and give him the "ok" to push the limits if he/she thinks he/she can get away with it. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support
If you've just discovered your boyfriend or husband watching porn online, you may be feeling shock, anger, disappointment, betrayal, and more. This can take a toll on your self-esteem. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vintage-gentleman/support

Crying is something that everyone does; it's a normal part of life. However, if you're male, then there are often different standards applied. The issue is that at times, people associate men crying with being weak. The projection conveyed is that a man is somehow less than whole if any or too much emotion is displayed.
