This year we reviewed over 30 Chicago plays and events. This podcast recaps favorites and highlights of the 2025 season plus a few ideas for 2026.Some productions mentioned include:Iraq But FunnyAmelieTom & ElizaGalileoHedda Gablerand a few more.
This year-end episode offers a moment to pause and take stock. Avis reflects on the work of Peace is Here in 2025, the questions that shaped the podcast, and what it has meant to study peace seriously in a world still organized around war. The episode looks back on a year of daily practice through series such as Wolff Peace, The Great Disfarmament and The Great Disarmament, Architects of Enough, and the introduction of The Next Peacelands. It also marks personal and creative milestones, including the release of Mono Mutante, the first Kickstarter campaign, and the arrival of Kitty O'Compost. Looking ahead, Avis shares the direction Peace is Here will take in 2026. The podcast moves into a more intentional curriculum, inviting listeners to become peace scholars through attention, inquiry, and lived moral practice. Peace will be explored through history, philosophy, satire, and fiction, with an emphasis on imagining peace as a practical path rather than a distant ideal. The episode closes with The Tip of the Peaceberg Prayer, a quiet New Year reflection on gratitude, unweaponed life, and the deeper truth of peace beneath the surface of the world as it appears. Tomorrow begins a new thirteen-episode fiction series, The Peace Experiments Experiment Zero, where a small town reporter, a fact-checking goat, and a group of young people begin asking the questions adults avoid. Thank you for listening, for your presence this year, and for walking into the next one together. In this reflective year-end episode of Selective Ignorance, Mandii B is joined by super producer A-King and journalist Jayson Rodriguez for an honest and insightful look back at the past year of the podcast and the ever-evolving podcasting industry. The conversation opens with a candid year-end recap, setting the tone for reflection, growth, and gratitude [00:00]. From there, the trio breaks down the evolution of Selective Ignorance itself, unpacking how the show has gone through multiple creative renditions and sharpened its voice over time [02:48]. As the discussion deepens, Mandii, A-King, and Jayson zoom out to examine the broader podcast landscape, analyzing industry shifts, major deals, and what platforms like Netflix signal about the future of audio and visual storytelling [05:59]. They explore how video podcasts are reshaping audience expectations, creator visibility, and content strategy in real time [09:11], while also addressing the realities of monetization, sustainability, and what it truly takes to turn a podcast into a viable business [12:05]. The episode doesn’t shy away from the challenges. The hosts openly discuss audience engagement, retention struggles, and the pressures creators face while trying to stay authentic in a crowded media ecosystem [14:58]. This naturally leads into a conversation about growth—both personal and professional—and the long-term aspirations for Selective Ignoranceas a platform rooted in cultural commentary and fearless dialogue [17:54]. A reflective pause brings the conversation toward early conclusions and gratitude for the journey thus far [21:08], before the episode expands even further. Returning to the mic with renewed focus, the hosts revisit the broader evolution of podcasting itself, comparing past and present eras of the medium and how creators must now navigate algorithms, branding, and cultural relevance [27:16]. They reminisce about memorable episodes, standout guests, and moments that defined the year [28:43], including episodes that sparked debate and challenged listeners through controversial subject matter [31:07]. Political conversations and their ripple effects on audience response and public discourse are also examined [34:10], reinforcing the show’s commitment to thoughtful, sometimes uncomfortable conversations. As the episode winds down, Mandii, A-King, and Jayson reflect on cultural shifts, social commentary, and the responsibility of podcasters as voices within the culture [40:01]. The conversation closes by looking ahead—offering predictions, hopes, and strategic insight into where podcasting is headed next, and how Selective Ignorance plans to evolve alongside it [46:09]. It's our 2025 Fully Booked recap—part “podcast Wrapped,” part honest creative debrief. We break down our top 5 most-listened episodes (and why the internet clearly loves a timely adaptation take), share our personal favorites (from book hangovers and games to big-topic conversations like banning books), and unpack the months that felt too rigid, too narrow, or just creatively exhausting. We also talk about how the book-to-screen world keeps accelerating—trailers, releases, streaming drops, and adaptations arriving so fast that staying locked into strict monthly themes can mean missing the exact conversations everyone's already having. So we're making a change: 2026 will be looser, more flexible, and more “let's talk about what's happening right now.”If you've been listening all year (thank you!), this episode is both a celebration and a reset—plus a little peek at what we're excited to cover next. As a recap for why the rewards outweigh the risks for growth by acquisition, Senior Attorney Match's Jeremy E. Poock, Esq. summarizes the following 6 rewards that growth by acquisition offers to Growing Law Firms: (1) Instant client growth by succeeding to a well-established Book of Business filled with clients & referral sources. (2) Adding knowledgeable & experienced lawyers and para-staff. (3) Low risk earnout payments as consideration to the owner(s) of a selling law firm (percentage of revenues paid during a fixed period of time). (4) Opportunities to convert decades of Subject Matter Knowledge to digital content for Multi-Channel Digital Marketing. (5) Succeed to a legacy phone number(s). (6) Benefit from established websites & additional digital value (egs. SEO rankings, 5-Star Google Reviews, 3 Pack results & more). Poock also summarizes the following 3 risks: (1) Potentially overpaying a Seller if the clients from a selling law firm's Book of Business do not retain the acquiring firm. (2) Not having enough lawyers & para-staff to provide legal services to the clients of a selling law firm (3) The costs of adding overhead associated with growth by acquisition (egs. salaries, benefits, additional rent, etc.) In conclusion, Poock states, “The rewards absolutely outweigh the risks when it comes to growth by acquisition for Growing Law Firms.”

Frank sits down with James from Distance Nerding to unpack Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 2. They get into the portal arc and what it means for Chris as a character, why Eagly quietly steals the episode, and how James Gunn uses running gags like bird blindness to build heart under the humor. The conversation hits Economos wrestling with anxiety and loyalty, Harcourt's guard-up spiral, Maxwell Lord setup notes, and a few big swing predictions for where the last three episodes could go. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 Welcome and intro to James from Distance Nerding 00:41 First reactions and the tone of a bridge episode 01:20 Tim Meadows as Flurry and the bird blindness gag that keeps paying off 02:55 Eagly reminder and the home defense sequence 03:34 Who hunts Eagly and why that matters for stakes 03:54 The portal arc and the pull of a “better life” versus the 11th Street Boys 05:36 Frank's theory that the other world celebrates the wrong heroes 07:16 Economos anxiety, Argus pressure, and found family 08:20 Wanting solitude yet craving connection 09:25 The quiet role Economos plays as a buffer between Argus and Peacemaker 10:49 Harcourt's arc and the “is it nepotism if they are perfect for the part” debate 12:10 Maxwell Lord read and why this version fits the DCU tone 13:08 Little prop clues and what they say about each universe 14:59 Pacing notes and how small scenes plant story markers 16:50 Expecting a tonal pivot in the final three and how it could bridge into the DCU 18:14 Why mature side stories like this hit different than the big icons 19:13 The portal as a what if and a metaphor for avoiding the real work 21:02 A simple I love you that hints at hope in a darker world 22:05 Will Chris ever find peace or accept where he is 24:13 Amelia in the other world and why a perfect version may not be what he wants 25:01 Kintsugi idea and why the cracks are what make Chris care 25:57 Screener cutoff at five episodes and cameo speculation 27:06 Adebayo and Kia under strain and what career first says about her path 27:46 Will Economos choose Argus before choosing his people 28:47 Twilight Zone vibes and a pocket world that looks bright but is not 29:07 Hot take prediction that a certain Rick Flag could show up in a key way 30:12 Senior's revenge focus and Chris facing what he did 31:13 Guilt in the Maxwell Lord interview and the line that haunts him 32:31 Final thoughts plus a quick Alien Earth shout 32:53 Distance Nerding con schedule and Geek Freaks collabs 35:01 Sign off Key Takeaways Peacemaker is sitting in the tension between a tempting escape and the messy work of growth. Running jokes like bird blindness are doing character work, not just easy laughs. Eagly is more than a mascot. Giving him an active threat raises the emotional stakes at home. Economos is the quiet hinge of the team. His anxiety and Argus ties set up a hard choice. Harcourt is pushing people away to avoid being seen. That makes her mirror Chris more than ever. The other universe may celebrate ugly values under a hero banner. That could snap Chris back to who he is now, not who he was. Expect a big tone shift in the last three episodes with room for a surprise cameo that ties personal guilt to resolution. Memorable Quotes “Those callback jokes you think are throwaways keep coming back. It is gold.” “Eagly steals the show. We kind of forgot he is a badass.” “He can see the life he wants through the portal, but he has not dealt with his stuff.” “You cannot hide the body. Your problems keep rolling back out.” “I think the other world might be cheering for the wrong kind of hero.” Call to Action If you enjoyed this breakdown, follow and subscribe so you never miss an episode. Happy All The Holidays! It's almost the solstice and the end of the calendar year, so it felt like a natural time to pause and reflect. In this short episode, I recap some of my favorite podcast moments from the past year. A few themes really stood out across multiple conversations: the symbiotic relationship of mindful movement and meditation practices what it looks like to integrate (or de-compartmentalize) practices like yoga and sitting meditation the reasons we practice and how we've found mindful movement and meditation beneficial the accessibility of movement and meditation practice for diverse bodies and neurodivergent minds. I also pull back the curtain a bit to update you on some of my projects, including my work-in-progress book and new plans for the coming year. This includes some thoughts about how the elephant-in-the-room (aka political climate in the US) is shaping my intentions and what I want my work to look like going into 2025. I don't always adopt a “word of the year,” but right now, it feels like a little extra compass to navigate the unknown. So, listen and hear what I've chosen as my 2025 word – and let me know if you have one, too! And, thanks for listening to the podcast this year - I so appreciate knowing that there are others out there interested in these heartful, mindful, bodyful practices. ----------------- For more links and resources mentioned in this episode, find the show notes at movedtomeditate.yoga/podcast.
