Today’s episode is about love. Specifically, it’s about finding it in your MID years. Maybe for the second, fourth, first time. This is a story about Dr Amantha Imber, an organisational psychologist who got divorced a few years ago. When Amantha knew she wanted to re-partner, she went about it with a typical approach to efficiency - going on more than 50 first dates in her first stint of online dating. Those dates had strict rules and boundaries, time limits and schedules and… they didn’t work. So then, Amantha drew up a brief and cold-called a long list of people in her circle who might know the person she was looking for…. But… well, that didn’t work either. You can learn more about Amantha and follow her work here. You can purchase Amantha's book The Health Habit here. You can also listen to her podcast, How I Work, here. THE END BITS: You can listen to our second ever episode was called the Mid Life Dating Pool Has Wee In it, and it was about Catherine Mahoney’s chaotic app-dating world and it was very very funny here. You can listen to our episode with Divorce & Separation coach, Nikki Parkinson, here. Nancy's husband David dips in for a candid conversation about what you need to find your person and make a relationship thrive in midlife. If you've ever wondered whether the insta-chemistry is everything, whether age gaps make a difference, or how to move beyond your relationship history—this episode is for you! David and Nancy share their dating journey, from swiping on Hinge to learning each other's communication styles and building lasting love. They get real about how they navigated everything from dating apps to commitment fears. Here's the midlife dating myths we're covering in episode 50: — “You need an immediate spark” – David shares why compatibility matters more than an instant connection, and his belief that attraction needs the time and space to grow. — “You bring your dating history into your current love life” – Nancy and David reveal how they've learned from their past without letting it define their present. — “Middle-aged men aren't looking for commitment” – David gives a man's perspective on that dating myth, making that case that midlife men want love and commitment just like women do. — “Men want younger women” – David breaks this myth down, sharing how true connections in midlife are about emotional depth and shared values—not just age. If you're ready to challenge the old stories and worn out myths that are keeping you from finding love, this episode is a must-listen. Whether you're just getting back into the dating scene or you're ready to take charge of your love life, Nancy and David's candid advice and shared experiences will inspire you to rethink what's possible.✅ Come to LOVE CAMP! The holiday season brings out all those holiday dinners, invites, and plus 1 invites. When it comes to those family gatherings, you hear the, you're getting to be too old to be single noise. Now this the time of year people get sensitive about being single. Whether you are re-entering the dating scene after a long hiatus, or maybe just continuing the search for "the right one", your girlfriends, your sister and maybe your mother will have no end of advice on how to meet the love of your life. The last thing you need with a new relationship is a new infection. According to the CDC, the age group in which STI rates are rising most rapidly is adults at midlife and beyond. This is a huge surprise to many people whom seem to think that chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV and herpes are limited to 20- and 30-year-olds that are having random hook-ups. Most guys hate using condoms - How many of those (lame) excuses have you heard? But Dr. Oakley have seen and treated a lot of infections in women who decided to skip the condom “just this once.” Do not depend on the man to be prepared. The savvy single woman keeps her own stash of male condoms on hand. Be sure they are all marked “extra-large.” *WINK* In this episode, Dr. Oakley and Holly go over some practical steps you can take to minimize your risk like: • Familiarize yourself with the most common STIs, and understand how they are transmitted. • Learn about screening and how to protect yourself, even if a condom is out of the question. • Consider getting an HPV vaccine even if you are over age 45 Thank you for listening. Returning to the dating scene middle-aged and post-divorce can be terrifying for most. But Paul Aaron Travis has been on over 100 dates and counting – the experience proving to be fruitful and life-changing. He shares with us his advice for individuals like him about letting go of expectations, authenticity vs intimacy, tracking your dates and potential partners, and finding your partner through effective questioning. Tune in to this episode: Dating After 40 with Paul Aaron Travis. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Utilize helpful tools. Paul recommends attending gatherings such as his Singles Salon, follow a blueprint like his 40-Plus Dating Reset, and use a dating log to list key details of your dates, such as: Last time they contacted you How long you've been dating Any red or green flags ✔️ Authenticity vs. Intimacy. Although interconnected, they are different. Authenticity is presenting who you really are to the world and how you live. Intimacy is being genuine within to allow others to enter your world. ✔️ Do a vibration check. Consider why you're dating in the first place. Then, don't rush the process of meeting new people. As we are experiencing collective anxiety about the future, it's important to choose someone who strikes the right chords. ✔️ There is power in questions. People who've had bad breakups and bad dates may feel cynical. But engaging in deep conversations with your dates can help change your mind. Listen to their dreams, dealbreakers, what turns them on, and what doesn't. Don't let your fear win over meeting your potential partner. ✔️ Practice detachment. Letting go of expectations can help you be more vulnerable and cushion the pain during rejections. Be open to whatever can happen. You may meet a new best friend or someone that can benefit from your knowledge or support. ———————————————————————————————— Paul Aaron Travis's commitment to making dating joyful, respectful, expansive, and consensual comes from extensive training in interpersonal relations - from Nonviolent Communication to the Wheel of Consent, from Landmark Education to Human Awareness International, from Body Electric to ISTA/Tantra. For years, Paul co-facilitated the Seattle Men's Wisdom Council, working with hundreds of men every month. In the years since his divorce, he has dated 100 women – mostly first dates which didn't yield sufficient chemistry to continue yet helped him create the technique he now teaches that manifested three wonderful, multi-year relationships. In this episode, I'm talking to three single women in their 40s about dating. It's a great discussion.About My Guests: Roberta Hatchett is a marketing veteran who decided to pivot to celebrate her love for wine and interior design. When Jade got divorced and entered her 40s, she had some fears and uncertainties ... especially after going to The Internet for advice. But her explorations of sex, dating, and relationships after 40 turned out to be both rewarding and hot. And she's sharing them with the world through her brand, Scarlet Society.Whether you identify as a woman or man or something else, if you're doing the dating thing after 40, things can feel intimidating. Even if you're not divorced and just getting back out there, things can be hard —especially on the apps! Questions like, "What DO I want?" are appropriate. On this episode we cover things like:What's it like being single again after years or even decades of being married? What do you do when you've done everything society says you should do, but you still feel empty, or some sense of, "Is this all there is?"Can I be a feminist and still be submissive in sex (or dominant)? What exactly is ethical non-monogamy (ENM) and why is it gaining popularity?Articles mentioned in this episode:One Woman's Guide to Feeld, the Alternative Dating App (https://bit.ly/3tYvaMX)You should date a younger man -- really (https://bit.ly/3yfvDNj)

As a middle aged divorced guy (53) I am learning to date all over again, and it's so different than in was in the 80' & 90's. Not only has my life changed drastically, but society, our world has changed drastically. I mean technology alone has revolutionized our lives, and for sure has made a huge impact on dating. I didn't have Social Media, and there were no "Dating Apps" to scroll through. Times have changed. I have changed. You have changed. So that's what I talk about in this short little podcast episode. In case you haven't heard, I am on a mission to educate, activate, and liberate as many women as possible...especially those who are suffering from Betrayal Trauma. In light of that mission, I have invited Sarah Morales to join me for this special episode. Sarah has been my coach, mentor, colleague and is one of my dearest friends. She's here with us this week because she's on a mission too - to help people increase and expand their understanding of what gaslighting is. Sarah is a relationship coach, educator, facilitator, host of the soon to be released Deconstructing Gaslighting™ podcast, public speaker and gaslighting expert. Join us as we break down real-life examples of gaslighting. We address not only the narcissistic gaslighting that happens with sex addicts, but also the small sneaky everyday examples of gaslighting that can happen anywhere in our lives. What a lot of people focus on when they think about gaslighting is what the other person does. But it's actually what happens inside of us and how we respond to it...when we give away our power...when we give away a part of ourselves. The good news is that we can learn how to not only recognize when we're being gaslighted, but we can also learn how to keep our grounding and hold onto our power and our belief systems when we find ourselves in those situations.Sarah has so much to share with us on this topic. Jorge Ruiz (Newark,NJ) - Today we spoke about the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show' Workplace to Be Reviewed by WarnerMedia. In addition, some of the allegations made from some previous and current employees. They declared they suffered discrimination and a very toxic environment to work in. On the other hand, I challenge some of the statements that were made. In addition, I spoke about mistakes men make before getting to the bedroom. And how this change in mentality can improve your sex life and performance. Last but certainly not least, one of our listeners reached out to ask about how someone that is 40+ should take dating after a long relationship. These are advice you can take at any point to improve your dating life and perspective on dating. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/negrosparty/support
