This podcast was born out of my dissatisfaction with what we know in the developed world as "normal life". So I got a job in Antarctica and never looked back! I have since been all over the globe. This podcast is a platform for people living unconventionally to share their stories.

Jared was involved in a special operation in Antarctica where he and a small team delivered hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel to the South Pole station.
Greg is an Alaskan Bush pilot and owner/operator of Kantishna Air Taxi which is located deep inside Denali National Park. Greg spends his summers flying tourist around Denali and his winters traveling to warmer climates such as Kauai. Greg built his operation from the ground up and is now truly living the dream. Get ready to be jealous!
Larry is a professional vagabond and a sponsored traveling photographer who recently summited Denali in the summer of 2016. Larry and I met in Denali National Park where we both worked as grounds crewmen for a small air taxi service known as Kantishna Air Taxi.
Ryan is a helicopter pilot that I met in Antarctica. We played in a band together on The Ice and became great friends last summer. In this episode we talk about Ryan’s background as a pilot and why he transitioned from fixed wing aircraft to helicopters. We also talk about what it’s like flying in harsh environments such as Antarctica and how the helicopters are transported to The Ice... and what maintenance is required for such extreme environments. Ryan recently appeared on Discovery Channel’s new docu-series, Everest Rescue where his efforts rescuing climbers in Nepal on Mt. Everest were documented. The series will be airing later this month and you should definitely check it out. He also talks about what that experience was like and how vastly different it is than flying scientist around in Antarctica. We also dive into the physics of how to safely land a helicopter if the engine loses power. This is a fascinating maneuver known as Auto Rotation and is a very dangerous, last resort maneuver that every helicopter pilot practices continually. Ryan also tells us what dinosaur he would choose to be if in fact he could choose to be any dinosaur, what he would do if he were the last person on earth, and the one person he would have drinks with if he could have drinks with anyone dead or alive.
This is a bit of a different episode because Lenny and I have never met before and this is our first conversation that we have ever had but the correlations in our lives are paramount. Lenny current lives on the side of a volcano in El Salvador. I have lived on the side of a volcano in antarctica. Lenny has spent time in Antartica as well on an expedition climbing one of the highest peaks on the continent. Lenny had an “ah ha” moment in Baja Mexico, and he soon after landed his photography dream job with United Airlines. This is interesting to me because it is very close to the place that I am going to inhabit for the first part of 2017. Lenny has experience in the aviation sector as a pilot, while I am not a pilot I have spent the last several years around aviation from military grade operations to small air taxi services and beyond. Although Lenny and I have a lot in common, I have barely breached the surface of what he has accomplished in his short time on this earth. Lenny runs a very successful live events company based in the Bay Area all while running a coffee farm, and soon to be hostel, in El Salvador. Get ready to be inspired!
