In the modern era of nation states, it is Greenland's unique location and potential resources that are drawing attention once again as her strategic position once again brings her to the front.Today's Midrats Podcast is going to start there with our guest, Dr. Elizabeth Buchanan. We will kick off with her latest book as a touchstone to our conversation, So You Want to Own Greenland?: Lessons from the Vikings to Trump.Dr. Elizabeth Buchanan is a senior fellow with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and an expert associate of the French Ministry of Armed Forces' Institute for Strategic Research. Most recently she was Head of Research for the Royal Australian Navy (Department of Defence). Dr Buchanan is co-founder of the polar warfare program (Project 6633) at the Modern War Institute of the West Point Military Academy. Before joining Australia's Defence Department, Dr. Buchanan was Lecturer of Strategic Studies for the Defence and Strategic Studies Course at the Australian War College. Elizabeth holds a Ph.D. in Russian Arctic Strategy and completed her post-doctoral studies as a Maritime Fellow at the NATO Defense College in Rome. All across the world there are yearly finds rewriting the story of human history, both in terms of our physical origin and the origin of our civilizations. Each new find pushes back the earliest dates, with some unexplored ‘finds' potential rewriting the planet's history. There is a legacy we all share with sophisticated and advanced ancestors which up until even recently few have been wiling to acknowledged despite decades of proof that previously prevailing theories have been wrong: the untouched Amazon, Clovis first, the missing link fossil, etc. But as more is revealed, we must not succumb to fantastical stories that discredit and disregard all of the real evidence. One example of this is Tataria. It's not just about the enigmatic megalithic mystery which stretches from one side of the world to the other but the myths and general knowledge of the people who built such things or inherited the same. And this is just what we can see and debate. What remains under the water from sea level rise due to the end of the last ice age, or what is buried under ice in Antartica, and what exists in the Saharan desert, are all untapped repositories of human history. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. In February 2021 a strange image appeared in Google Earth. What looked like a multi legged, sizeable organism was seen walking along the polar caps of antarctica.Antarctica is, on average, the coldest, driest, and windiest of the continents, and it has the highest average elevation. It is mainly a polar desert, with annual precipitation of over 8 in along the coast and far less inland. About 70% of the world's freshwater reserves are frozen in Antarctica, which, if melted, would raise global sea levels by almost 60 metres. Antarctica holds the record for the lowest measured temperature on Earth, −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F). The coastal regions can reach temperatures over 10 °C (50 °F) in the summer. Native species of animals include mites, nematodes, penguins, seals and tardigrades. Where vegetation occurs, it is mostly in the form of lichen or moss. But could it be possible that this hostile environment could harbour giant invertebrates? The winding and interconnected story of Mark Michel, Musto jackets, Soulhub, Drake Passage, Antartica, and icebergs.Carmen Rendell reminisces on the stories shared across continents and, now over a decade ago. Some stories should be shared further, and this is one of them. Not just because it highlights the change in our climate, or the remarkable work of Mark and the team in Antartica recording the sounds and images of the icebergs, but because of how the story is told by Mark, and how their experience and his talent transcends the air waves.I wonder at what point we became so estranged from our relationship with this Earth. You're instantly transported to Australis, their vessel, and on the boat with Mark and the team. Antarctica is a place not meant for humankind. colourful and often tragic history reflects this. It is not that we are unwelcome here, more that we are not, perhaps, natural. In simple terms, it a beautiful tale, including how Carmen and Mark connected across the oceans, and still having yet to meet, brings you on board to relive how these Lincoln, Yoko and Ernest icebergs and their micro-environments end up projected onto the Auckland Museum. Please do share and let us know what you felt as you listen to Mark's story. We'd love to know what it evokes in you. Frits Buningh trained in the 1970s at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) to become a mining engineer, specializing in ventilation. After working in a German coal mine in 1974, he worked in a Canadian copper mine in 1976-77—the Kid Creek Mine near Timmins, Ontario, one of the deepest underground mines in the world. Kid Creek's #2 mine shaft was almost two miles deep (9800 feet = 1.85 Miles), and he experienced going down that deep when it was being developed. These experiences gave him a profound appreciation for geological time scales, something that seems lost amid the climate crisis hysteria of today.00:00 Introduction and Guest Introduction00:01 Questioning Climate Data01:08 United Nations and Personal Background02:15 Joining the CO2 Coalition03:20 Challenging the Climate Change Institute05:49 Audit Methodology and Findings09:01 Temperature Data Analysis24:15 Northern Hemisphere Midsection Analysis26:30 Tropics Temperature Trends33:46 Southern Hemisphere Midsection Analysis35:53 Exploring Antarctica: A Personal Journey36:33 Temperature Models and Discrepancies37:27 Antarctica's Melting and Global Impact38:20 Calculating World Temperatures40:23 Audit Results: A Closer Look40:50 Northern Hemisphere Trends41:25 Southern Hemisphere and Tropics Analysis43:12 Challenges with Satellite Data46:11 Concluding Thoughts on Climate Data57:36 Final Remarks and Future PlansAbout Frits: https://co2coalition.org/teammember/frits-buningh/The Audit of Antartica's Average Daily Temperature Survey: https://www.aaadts.com/https://x.com/FBuninghSlides for this podcast: https://www.aaadts.com/nelson2025=========Slides for the podcast are also here, along with AI summaries of all of my podcasts: https://tomn.substack.com/p/podcast-summariesMy Linktree: https://linktr.ee/tomanelson1
We are scorching through space at 1.3 million mph… or are the "experts" lying to us? Dive into an explosive breakdown of mainstream Cosmo-Logical jaw-dropping ‘facts! NASA's lost moon landing data, and the Van Allen radiation belt's inconvenient truth. From Nazi, Wernher von Braun-founded NASA to petrified wood ‘moon rocks,' this no-holds-barred episode digs into "the science" narratives we're sold. Strap in for a Cosmo-Logic bomb that'll make you question everything you've learned. Here is a quick rundown on some of the topics:Cosmic Speedrun: Earth spins at 1,038 mph, orbits the sun at 66,600 mph—and the math just gets weirder. Why do eclipses “magically” align?NASA's Greatest Hits: Apollo telemetry “accidentally” vanished. Meet NASA's co-founders: a Nazi scientist-Wernher von Braun, and an Antichrist-summoning cultist-Jack Parsons.Van Allen Belt-Radiation Wall: Why hasn't any space traveler surpassed 500 miles since 1972? (Note: The Moon is 240,000 miles away!) NASA's engineer admits, “We still can't solve this" in 2014?Moon Landing & more: The 1968, and 72 live audio/video moon broadcasts. Astronauts singing hymns, making phone calls, and movies. Also, the Dutch moon rock hoax?Dark Matter vs. Relativity: Top Scientists consensus admit 96% of the universe is unexplained. Why cling to theories that absolutely contradict each other?Firmament Theories: Deep-sea submarine explorers hit a mysterious liquid layer. Did Admiral Byrd find things we aren't allowed to know about in Antartica? Also, Ancient cultures fascinating records.Wake Up Call: How to Spot Cosmic Propaganda: Experts word salads, lost logic in schools, and why average people don't ask questions. Also funding fuels what's studied & published...so who is paying? If a theory is proven wrong that doesn't mean, we MUST have a replacement. People must realize its ok to not know everything. It means: STOP believing lies & fund science that is searching for real alternatives that are provable. Not sci-fi stories. Towards the end of the March 3, 1975 issue of Sports Illustrated a reader wrote in on the exploits of a little known swimmer who had appeared in two issues of SI the previous month. The woman wrote, "Thank you for a beautifully written piece on an incredible woman. Lynne Cox. How refreshing it is to read a story written by a man (Sam Moses) about a woman that does not go on about the color of her hair or how she looked in her bathing suit." What was noticeable is that Miss Cox was wearing a bathing suit, but not a wetsuit... despite the obvious need for one as she was a long distance swimmer who sometimes swam in temps that were below freezing. When Lynne was 14, she and three other teammates swam the 31 miles it takes to cross the Catalina Island Channel... and that the beginning of a life like no other. She would go on to swim the English Channel, as well as a mile in 26 degree water in Antartica. Yes, you read that correctly... she swam for a mile in just bathing suit in below freezing temps. But her most famous swim was in 1987 when she crossed the Bering Strait... it took her over 2 hours to go from Little Diomede in Alaska to Big Diomede in the USSR in waters that were 38 degrees. She was trying to raise attention to how close the two Superpowers were in proximity and to help bring an end to the Cold War. President's Reagan and Gorbachev both toasted her on her amazing accomplishment. Cox is now 68 years old, and tells us how Russian doctors were prepared to help her immediately once she came ashore in the Soviet Union and how cardiac arrest was a real possibility. How the people of the islands were actually families who hadn't been able to communicate with each other in almost 50 years and began to rejoice and sing once she brought them together! She recalls a swim where she thought a shark might be in the water, but instead it was a pod of dolphins guiding her across the Cook Strait in New Zealand. She tells amazing stories because she has amazing stories to tell... and she does it on this weeks Past Our Prime podcast. You won't believe it unless you hear it. Episode 192Series: On the Mission Field - 19The Fahringer family is on their way to Chile! In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, Geoffrey Fahringer takes precious time out of his day to tell us more about the country of Chile, the spiritual needs there, and his family's desire to minister to the people there. Chile is a long, narrow, beautiful strip of land in South America spanning from the base of Peru all the way down to the tip of the continent, and jumping the ocean to claim certain parts of Antartica. The people groups are diverse, but the need is the same: a saving faith and growing relationship with the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ. Geoffrey Fahringer would have never in a million years seen himself as a missionary because he was far along the path of military service and law enforcement. But after the Lord saved him, it became increasingly clear that God had plans for his family in that beautiful country. Geoffrey and his family surrendered, and today we get to hear all about what God has been doing to bring a gospel witness to the people there. Today's fascinating episode features Ivan Doroschuk from new wave, synth-pop band, Men Without Hats. The group formed in Montreal back in 1977, during the height of punk and Ivan talks about some of the punk bands he saw live, along with acts that came a few years before then, groups like Pink Floyd and Roxy Music. The group went on to support Roxy on their Avalon tour world tour in 1982. Ivan also talks openly about fame and the enormous success the band achieved following the release of ‘The Safely Dance', his earliest influences and musical passions. Touring and how he keeps his voice in shape, and discusses the story behind one of my favourite synth-pop tracks of all-time, ‘Antartica' Men Without Hats - Safety Dance (Offical Video) Men Without Hats - Antartica Men Without Hats - The Message
Linda Moulton Howe has been investigating reports of unusual activity in Antarctica for many years. She has interviewed numerous alleged whistleblowers who claim to have firsthand knowledge of strange phenomena and hidden structures in the icy continent. While physical evidence is scarce, Howe's recent focus has been on testimonies and documents that suggest a hidden history and possible ongoing presence of non-human entities in Antarctica. Here's a summary of her recent claims: * "Spartan 1" and "Spartan 2" Testimony: Howe interviewed two individuals, allegedly with military backgrounds, who claim to have encountered evidence of ancient civilizations and advanced technology in Antarctica. "Spartan 1", a retired Navy SEAL, described a massive, artificially-created structure beneath the ice, containing advanced technology and strange hieroglyphs. "Spartan 2", a Marine, corroborated these claims and linked the hieroglyphs to similar symbols found on the Moon and Mars. * Ancient Ruins and Artifacts: Howe has presented alleged evidence of ancient ruins and artifacts discovered in Antarctica, suggesting a history far older than conventionally believed. These include pyramids, megalithic structures, and advanced technology that predates known human civilizations. * UFO Activity and Alien Bases: Howe has compiled reports of increased UFO activity in Antarctica, suggesting the presence of active alien bases or operations in the region. These reports often come from pilots, scientists, and military personnel stationed in Antarctica. It's important to note that Howe's evidence primarily relies on eyewitness testimony and alleged leaked documents, which are difficult to independently verify. Admiral Byrd and Operation Highjump: Admiral Richard E. Byrd led Operation Highjump, a large-scale naval expedition to Antarctica in 1946-47. While officially a scientific mission, some believe it had ulterior motives, including investigating rumors of a Nazi base and exploring the possibility of advanced technology hidden in the region. Howe and other researchers point to Byrd's cryptic statements after the expedition, where he allegedly described encountering a powerful force that could fly from pole to pole with incredible speed. Some interpret this as evidence of advanced technology or even contact with non-human entities. Connecting the Dots: Howe attempts to connect these events, suggesting that Byrd's expedition may have stumbled upon evidence of an ancient civilization or alien presence in Antarctica, and that subsequent expeditions and whistleblower testimonies further support this theory. Critical Evaluation: While Howe's work is intriguing, it's crucial to approach it with a critical eye. Her evidence is often circumstantial and relies heavily on unverifiable testimony. Mainstream science and governments have not acknowledged her claims, and many dismiss them as conspiracy theories. However, the mystery surrounding Antarctica and the lack of full transparency from governments fuel continued speculation and interest in Howe's investigations. It's important to keep an open mind while also demanding rigorous evidence and critical analysis when evaluating extraordinary claims like these.
A new law change has made the creation of explicit deepfakes illegal, with those found guilty facing up to two years in prison. Nuala McGovern is joined by Durham Law Professor Clare McGlynn to hear more about what this means, and Channel 4's Cathy Newman, who was a victim of deepfakes herself, gives her thoughts. Author Clare Whitfield joins Nuala to discuss her novel Poor Girls. The title of the book refers to the young, working class women of the 1920s who were destined for a life in service unless they took other, less respectable, opportunities. Like joining real-life all female criminal gang The Forty Elephants, who were famous for their sophisticated shoplifting scams and their hard-partying ways.Victoria Melluish is a listener who wrote to us to highlight women working in environmentally hostile environments and to encourage more women to get out in the field. Victoria is currently employed as a marine mammal specialist and expedition guide on a cruise expedition ship. She says, 'I'm 30 and I work in the Arctic and Antarctic, and I often get asked how I manage having endometriosis while driving Zodiac boats around glaciers and marine megafauna.' Nuala speaks to her about her work.Private businesses in Norway are now required by law to have more women sitting on their executive boards. In 2008, the country became the first in the world to introduce a 40% gender quota for the boards of listed companies. In 2023, the Norwegian parliament decided to extend the quota to private firms, with a deadline of 31st December 2024. Nuala is joined by Hege Rødland, founder of Matae AS, a recruitment company and Linda Litlekalsoy Aase, CEO of Bremnes Seashore Group, to discuss how successful it has been.Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Emma Pearce
Meghan joins me to talk about her trip to Antartica, tells me how the earth is definetly round, then we have an unexpected political debate!
A research expedition to near the south pole is developing to investigate a meteorite mystery. Meteorites landing on the Antarctica ice sheet are slowly transported along by ice flows until they are dumped into the ocean or up against a mountain range. The concentration of meteorites into stranding zones on the lower slopes of mountain ranges has allowed humans to collect 2/3 of the meteorites discovered on Earth in Antartica. The fact that the percentage of iron meteorites found in these places in Antartica is 1/8 what are found elsewhere on Earth is puzzling.

Today I will be sharing a conversation that I had with my friend Jerry Scarlato on his podcast “The Good Wolf Project” ----- Today's conversation is with Lawrence Dunning, a self-made millionaire before the age of thirty. Realizing he had a very small window to pursue his love of the combat sports, Lawrence gave away his trading company and took a lengthy sabbatical. From his love of amateur boxing, after winning the Chicago Golden Gloves, he spent the next five years as a professional MMA fighter, and a jiu-jitsu competitor, earning his black belt in 2016. At 35 years old, after being immersed in his athletic pursuits, and making every financial mistake there was, he saw his net worth evaporate. Lawrence then turned his focus on his professional reinvention in the real estate world. He is the founder of “The Dunning Team”, a real estate group based in Chicago, specializing in ground up developments and building investment portfolios for his clients. Today, Lawrence continues to teach, train and compete in jiujitsu. He just completed his goal of being the first jiujitsu black belt to have run a marathon on all 7 continents (including Antartica). He hosts “Enter the Lionheart”, his podcast about excellence amongst entrepreneur, athletes and intellectuals. And recently published his book "The Forgotten Asset Class" on low risk, high reward,. Real Estate Investing. However, his best accomplishment yet, is raising his young son Victor and enjoying family life with his two dogs and adoring wife Jen. Here's what we talk about… • How to look at life through the lens of risk/reward… • How you're currently sacrificing your health by valuing gluttony… • Why Lawrence gave away his multi-million dollar company at age 30… • The 3 types of mentors you should have in your life… Podcast Website: https://enterthelionheart.com/ Check out the latest episode here: Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/enter-the-lionheart/id1554904704 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4tD7VvMUvnOgChoNYShbcI
