Cassidy is an extremely accomplished athlete, coach, and entrepreneur whose success could have easily been derailed early in life. Yet, she possesses a unique internal force that has allowed her to quiet and overcome a chronic struggle that continues to affect her daily life. By refusing to succumb to an atypical affiliation, and actively choosing to respond with grit, will, optimism and purpose, our guest was named Prep Volleyball High School Junior of the Year and elected to the San Diego Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. She was a four-year scholarship athlete on the Stanford University women's volleyball team, and was selected All-American First Team in 2009 and 2010, and First-Team Academic All-American in 2010. She competed on the U.S. Women's National Volleyball team from 2011 to 2016, making every roster in 2013 on her way to numerous international medals.  Cassidy took on coaching in 2016 as an assistant at Stanford and was part of the National Championship team that year. She founded “Play with Purpose” volleyball clinic, which supports the Ronald McDonald House, and recently launched P/ATH (Progress through Athletics) a platform that seeks to position the next generation of athletes for a better world through empathy and empowerment.

He has operated on all types of athletes at the highest levels of elite, Olympic and professional competition and is recognized as one of Major League Baseball's "Super Surgeons."  Dr. Cain has served as team orthopedic surgeon for The University of Alabama Athletics program since 2000, and was recently honored as the SEC's Team Physician of the Year.   A Birmingham, Alabama, native, Dr. Cain received his medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1994. Dr. Cain serves on the board of trustees for the American Baseball Foundation and the American Sports Medicine Institute, and is the fellowship director for the ASMI Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is responsible for training sports medicine surgeons of the highest caliber.

    Leanda Cave - World Champion Triathlete

    In this episode, Dr. Michael Ryan takes a deep dive into the life, career and experience of Leanda Cave, World Champion Triathlete. Leanda began competing in triathlons in 1993 as a 14 year old. From that early age, Leanda found pleasure and strength in pushing herself to the limit in a multidisciplinary sport, and form that point experienced a progressively ascendant trajectory in her career, eventually landing her as one of the greatest athletes to ever compete in the sport of triathlon. Leanda won the European U23 Championship in 2001 and from the moment, she continued to amass accolades and improve as a triathlete. She won the Olympic distance world title in 2002, and eventually progressed into longer distance Ironman races. Her first Ironman victory came in 2012 in Arizona. Only a few months after that, she capped off an incredible racing year by winning Ironman 70.3 World Championship and the Ironman World Championship only 5 weeks apart, becoming only the second human and first woman to complete "The Double" by winning both world championships in the same year. She continued to accumulate wins after this and completed her racing career in 2018, solidifying herself as a future hall of fame triathlete.

Dr. McCabe is founder of The MindSide, a performance consulting organization in Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University and completed his psychology internship at the Clinical Psychology Training Consortium associated with the Warren Alpert Brown Medical School in Providence, RI. Upon completion of his training, Dr. McCabe worked in the corporate sector, conducting research, developing medical strategy initiatives, and enhancing thought leader development and collaboration within the pharmaceutical industry.
