I looked to Lindsay de Swart early last year to help me tune into some limiting beliefs that I've held about money. I had the joy of meeting her through our podcasting journeys, and in our first few conversations, she delivered some pretty potent insights that inspired me to unpack some messy financial hangups. Her blend of no-nonsense practicality with the woo woven through makes her a fantastic coach for the dreamer and the cynic alike. Lindsay has worked with women for 17 years to help them ignite and rekindle their 'inner spark' and courage to live their next chapter. She is a Shamanic Coach, Energy Medicine Practitioner, Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and 'Horse Whisperer'. She lives in England, is the mother of 3 teenagers and loves outdoor adventures. My absolute favorite part of this podcasting journey has been the people I've met along the way, from other podcasters to people I've blindly approached about engaging with me on this platform.  Nathy Gaffney and I met in a workshop and immediately connected, recognizing the performer and former party girl in each other, and the overlap doesn't end there.  The evolution into self care and personal expansion is one that inevitably demands a certain level of self-examination, and hearty doses of humility and curiosity, to boot.  Nathy's podcast, Suck it and See (https://open.spotify.com/show/78gwG6w88wtGkWRc1r0JxL?si=c1c352960d9f497e), is a raw and cheeky examination of her approach to life's lemons, and how to make refreshment from the sour and the sweet. In this discussion, we talk about the difference between stepping back and stepping away, the importance of having different coaches while you create your vision, and how to know when and how to mitigate your energetic output to maintain your fabulousness well beyond your club hopping days. Make sure to check her out, and feel free to join the conversation here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/625330825260625/ Nathy Gaffney has had what can be politely termed a 'diverse portfolio career'. A professional actor and comedy/cabaret performer for over twenty years, she's also spent time working behind bars (and drinking in them), waiting on tables (and dancing on them), being a nightclub door bitch, barista and celebrity impersonator. These days she's traded treading the boards for the boardroom, working as a facilitator and executive coach with Phuel Australia where she still enjoys a captive audience - albeit minus the feathers and sequins. The Gap Year(s) is her first book, soon to be followed by The C Word - a personal development book focusing on female confidence. Nathy lives wedged between the city and the sea in Sydney's eastern suburbs, with her teenage son and adventure seeking partner. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kira-rodenbush/message

****CONTENT WARNING: KIRA BRINGS THE TEARS****. You may want to grab the tissues for this one! “Sunk cost fallacy: noun - the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.” Whether it's a defining character trait or a family heirloom, sometimes reevaluating why we are holding on to what we are is so deeply imbedded in our identities and our personal histories that the idea of releasing ourselves from said objects or situations feels too overwhelming. However, showing ourselves grace in the decision making process and allowing ourselves the space to ideate a future that's free from the expectations of our ancestors or forbears can help us open up to our most authentic expression in the moment. By being honest and truthful with ourselves and making a consistent personal inventory a priority, we can ensure that our curated legacies of personal effects reflect the fabulous tapestry of our life's experiences. Melody Reed was a client of mine who taught me some major lessons about finding silver linings and remaining committed to your passions even through your darkest days. Her life, as I knew her, was an exploration of contrast between light and dark, and her lens was gentle, compassionate, and full of wonder, even as her wry smile and dry humor played with the sharper edges. That was in the summer of 2003, and when I met her and her husband, they were on vacation in Oregon.  I spent the following autumn and subsequent spring of 2004 in NYC, where I attempted to "organize" her husband's apartment (which happened to be above the iconic Tom's Diner, immortalized by both Suzanne Vega and the Seinfeld gang) while she was co-founding a private high school in New Jersey.   Rhonda is a cancer survivor who lives with fibromyalgia that was diagnosed in 2012.  Her journey with stuff, both her own and others', has proven rife with symbolism and has definitely left it's print on her body. What is the thing that gives us the spark for transformational change? What is truly necessary in order to affect a radical personal overhaul? I love watching people get activated to wake up to their higher calling or special purpose. I love the moment that someone says, "I know that I am on the precipice of something that will change my life dramatically, and I already have the answers within!” It's like the moment that a child realizes that all of those letters on the page make words and those words become a paragraph, passage, chapter, then story. But what's the spark? Meeting someone where they're at and holding space for them to release and revise parts of their narrative that don't line up with their intended expressions is what lights me up.
