We're back with a whole new season of On the Scent Podcast! While we had a break on the main pod, we've still been recording our Patreon exclusive episodes every week, which you can catch up with on patreon.com https://www.patreon.com/u84518038Meanwhile, we've been busy attending some incredible new launches, many of which you'll hear about in this episode, and Nicola and her husband, Chris, got to have bespoke fragrances made for them by Nicola Pozzani, the Global Fragrance Ambassador and Bespoke Perfumer for Floris London! She's talking us through the entire process here, and you'll hear some recordings she made in the historic Jermyn Street perfumer's office on the day.Suzy also got to experience something rather wonderful, visiting the newly appointed Chanel salon in Harrods for a ‘Grand Parfumeur' session revealing the fascinating symbolism present in Chanel's life, aesthetics, and the new Extrait perfumes. She also attended the jaw-dropping launch of BDK's three new fragrances, each inspired by spectacular fabrics. After talking about the celeb-filled celebrations of The Fragrance Foundation Awards, with more being more, there's much talk of what's on the current ‘can't stop wearing list' (which includes a latex and lipstick scent Nicola adores, a mushroom fragrance Suzy's obsessed by, and a reconnection with a past perfume love). On this week's episode…Floris London Bespoke Experience:https://tinyurl.com/florisbespokeBDK Stellar Silk‘Stellar Silk unfolds around the milky, textured richness of a creamy, precious sandalwood. At the top, a spicy spark of ginger and cinnamon bark is delicately dusted with saffron. Then, the floral heart of iris unfolds, echoing the intimate caress of fabric against the skin, enveloped in vanilla, tonka bean, and the profound warmth of benzoin tears. In the base, sandalwood and musks carry and extend the trail with gentle intensity. Like a precious thread of silk, Stellar Silk lays a veil of sensuality across the skin. A fragrance of passion, it radiates as a luminous halo, balancing depth and lightness to create an enduring, timeless elegance. Around the silk, a universe of luxury emerges, defined by a noble material exploring with subtlety the porous boundaries between masculine and feminine wardrobes. The softness and delicacy of the fabric flirt with the sensuality of evening gowns, evoking Haute Couture silhouettes where creative freedom blurs boundaries, reminiscent of designs by Yves Saint Laurent or Valentino Garavani. In the airy, whispering rustle of muslin, an ode rises to the preciousness of a millennia-old material, noble and treasured.'BDK Silver Ceremony‘Silver Ceremony is conceived in resonance with the precious radiance of sequins. At the top, bergamot, green mandarin, and lemon illuminate the fragrance as light strikes metal, sparkling with a crystalline, vibrant, almost icy freshness, heightened by the spicy brilliance of ginger and pink pepper. In the base, woody notes unfold, dominated by cedar, set with patchouli and oud, and faceted with the amber nuances of labdanum. A textured creation, rich in energy and vibration, where freshness accentuates depth and warmth anchors luminosity. Constructed like an architectural masterpiece in which movement and stillness coexist, it is at once solid and fluid. Like a luminous, shimmering, ethereal garment, Silver Ceremony reveals itself as a fragrance with an electric, magnetic, incisive, and radiant signature. In the 1960s, when Paco Rabanne was celebrated as a metallurgist, he boldly wove metal into his creations, sculpting dresses with the precision of an architect. Thierry Mugler conjured robotized silhouettes, evoking a visionary, almost cosmic futurism. As for sequins, with their meticulous artisanal craftsmanship, they endure as a luminous and precious signature of Haute Couture, illuminating the most sophisticated ensembles with a radiant brilliance.'BDK Oud Paradiso‘Oud Paradisio unveils itself: a fragrance at once powerful, captivating, opulent, and audacious. Dominating with majesty is a dark, enveloping oud wood. At the top, the fresh, citrusy brightness of bergamot is enlivened by the juicy, succulent sweetness of frosted pineapple, while a subtle veil of incense and saffron whispers through the composition. The exquisite floral heart unfolds as a precious trio of roses, two essences and an absolute, imbuing the composition with elegance and depth. The warm base marries shadowy oud with cocoa, creating an arrangement rich in intensity and sumptuous voluptuousness. Sensuality blossoms among a woody warmth, nuanced with subtle restraint. Its assertive character is sculpted by the animalic accents revealed through the potent olfactory presence of oud essence. Complex and surprising, Oud Paradisio is a nocturnal perfume steeped in mystery. In fashion, leather claims its nobility without forsaking its innate animality, which imparts strength and commanding presence. Designers have challenged leather, shaping it into a second skin, Claude Montana in the 1980s with exaggerated shoulders crafted for fearless, audacious personalities. More recently, Rick Owens has celebrated this material with brilliance, transgressing its codes with boldness, even a hint of provocation. Animalistic by nature, leather embodies strength, power, and confidence.'Atelier Rebul Istanbul‘Discover the hidden scents of Istanbul with this eau de parfum. The glittering notes of bergamot is blended with spicy notes of cinnamon, saffron and clove, as well as floral and woody notes. The fragrance of our Istanbul collection is truly striking and unique.' Vyrao Ludatrix‘Naughty notes of lipstick and latex entwine with powdery rose, energising sichuan pepper and courage-enhancing orris to cast Ludatrix's enticing and empowered spell. Tantalising ambrette for igniting arousal is layered with voluptuous cedarwood, sandalwood and olibanum for positivity and protection, while a potent blend of ambrox and musk sparks sensuality. Bold and boundless desire, bottled.'Nasomatto MicrodelirioAll we're told is ‘The fragrance is the result of a natural vital delirium, evoking a flourishing ecosystem of organic disobedience.' Suzy senses ultra-realistic petrichor (rain soaked earth), creamy mushrooms, leaf-mulchy forest floor, vetiver, perhaps some beetroot fruitiness (?) and bags of patchouli earthiness. Lush Ginger‘A fragrance of the sensation of tasting ginger for the first time and feel it warming your body. Ginger is combined with flowers – mimosa, geranium, rose, ylang ylang and jasmine. A touch of juniper berry makes the composition vivid and fruity.'Goldfield & Banks Ingenious Ginger‘Ingenious Ginger is a floral amber perfume inspired by the lush Atherton Tablelands. red back ginger blends with bergamot, mandarin, magnolia, vanilla, amber and australian sandalwood.A world-first exploration of Australian Red Back Ginger, this best-selling Eau De Parfum offers an instant sense of nature in a blissful and sultry destination.'Buy issue 1 of On The Scent magazine and feast your eyes on the fabulous fragrant features, news and reviews in print! Messenger RNA (mRNA) plays a literally central role in the functioning of life as we know it, shuttling information back and forth between the DNA where it is stored to the ribosome where it is used to produce proteins. RNA may even have been the first molecule to kick-start the origin of life. Today, scientists are learning how to manipulate mRNA to cure and prevent diseases, whether through vaccination or literally editing one's DNA. Jeff Coller explains how it all works and how mRNA is revolutionizing medicine as we know it. In this episode, I reframe “good enough” as a strategic choice rather than a compromise. Perfectionism often delays progress and keeps ideas from being tested.By starting with a simpler version, you can validate what works before investing more time and energy. It is not about lowering standards, but about making smarter decisions that move your business forward.____________________

SummaryIn this episode, I explore the psychology and strategy behind pricing for tutors and education business owners. We discuss why market research is not always the answer, how confidence and self-worth can influence pricing decisions, and how to create a pricing strategy that supports the business and lifestyle you want.TakeawaysPricing is influenced by psychology as much as strategy.Market research is less useful for unique offers.Your prices should support your business goals and lifestyle.Fear of losing clients can hold you back from raising rates.Pricing often reflects confidence, not just value.Tiered pricing and grandfathering can make price increases easier.Price increases are a normal part of business growth.Build your pricing around your business, not your competitors.____________________

You should be drinking hot water. You should be drinking cool water. You shouldn't be drinking this water, why are you drinking that water? So much confusion and overthinking on the most seemingly simple part of nutrition…Hydration!More specifically, there has been this recent push for drinking of hot water (or warm water really), in the mornings to help aid in some health benefits. But how true is this? Is it really better than cold water drinking? In this episode, I explain the basics around what the science really says (or doesn't say) about the question of hot water vs cold water for health, digestion, and results. In this episode, we chat with Matthieu Bos, CEO of Falcon Energy Materials, who are advancing an anode material project in Morocco, and he's also the Chairman of Hercules Metals, a copper explorer in Idaho. His career spans battery materials, copper, gold, royalties, and complex jurisdictions from the DRC to Morocco, Quebec, and the United States. In this conversation, we explore how he thinks about building critical minerals projects, winning sophisticated capital, assessing jurisdictional risk, and where the mining industry needs to go next to turn supply chain ambition into real production. This episode is brought to you by Mining International, a global executive search partner to the mining industry. For bespoke search and advisory services, please visit www.mining-international.org KEY TAKEAWAYS Falcon Energy Materials has shifted away from traditional mining to focus exclusively on the chemical processing and transformation of graphite into anode materials. Morocco is an ideal location for battery material manufacturing due to its green energy resources, supportive government, and unique free trade agreements with both the United States and Europe. The battery supply chain is highly rigid and customised, meaning anode production facilities must be tailored to specific clients, batteries, and end-product vehicles rather than producing a generic commodity. Maintaining secure asset titles is the foundational requirement for mining companies to successfully operate and protect institutional investor capital in any jurisdiction. BEST MOMENTS "We are no longer really in the mining business, we're really in the... material sciences business, the transformation of graphite concentrate into what we call anode material." "You cannot just move the little Lego blocks around... We're making one product which is generic, but it's bespoke for the specific client, and that is true up and down the whole value chain." "You should never go for a project that is sub-economic just because it is in the US. You have to go where you have the best rocks." "It is very pleasant if you go to bed at night and you wake up the next morning that you still own the same asset as that you were owning that night before." Dan and Paul dig into the many ways the humble d6 powers classic Dungeons & Dragons. From opening doors and hearing noises to wandering monsters, surprise, morale, and reaction rolls, early D&D is full of small bespoke mechanics built around simple dice checks. Why are some rolls 1d6 while others are 2d6? When do ability modifiers apply - and when don't they? Are these disconnected systems part of old-school D&D's charm, or would the game benefit from a more unified mechanic? Along the way, we'll explore how these rules evolved across OD&D and early editions, how house rules try to smooth the edges, and whether modern ability check systems lose something by standardizing everything. Join Dan and Paul live as they wander through one of the strangest and most foundational design spaces in classic RPGs.

Send us Fan MailIn this week's episode of the Digital and Dirt podcast, Ian sits down with Nathan Pearce, Founder and CEO at Pearce Bespoke Franchising, to discuss the human element of styling, how style and individuality shape confidence, and why giving someone the right suit can change the trajectory of their life.
In this episode, I reframe comparison as something useful rather than harmful. Instead of letting it affect your confidence, you can treat it as information.By getting specific about what you notice in others, you can identify areas to improve or realise their version of success is not what you want. When approached with curiosity, comparison becomes a tool for growth rather than a judgement of your worth.____________________

A chance meeting in Dublin led to a lively catch-up about how travel in Ireland is changing – and how visitors can experience so much more than the usual highlights. Boxty Sharing Platter at Gallagher's Boxty House in Temple Bar Custom Food and Whiskey Tours in Ireland What started as a Dublin food tour has grown into something much bigger. Gráinne, owner of Flavour Trails, has expanded her offerings to meet travelers who want more than a quick stop-and-go itinerary. Visitors can now choose from: Multiple Dublin food tours (including a traditional walking tour with five stops) Whiskey experiences Storytelling tours Fully customized private tours across Ireland The goal is simple: connect travelers not just to places, but to the people producing the food and drink they're enjoying. This article is based on podcast episode 337 featuring Gráinne Lawlor, owner of Flavour Trails in Dublin. Use the player below to listen or scroll to continue reading the article and get resource links.Use the player below to listen or scroll to continue reading the article and get resource links. From City Streets to the Irish Countryside While Dublin remains a fantastic base, many travelers want to explore beyond the city, and that's where these bespoke tours really shine. Options include day trips or multi-day journeys to places like: Cliffs of Moher Glendalough Giant's Causeway Donegal But these aren't typical sightseeing drives. Instead, each trip is built around immersive experiences. Travelers might: Go foraging with local experts Visit a working goat cheese farm Take part in a cookery school Tour local distilleries Meet producers behind the food One standout experience even includes a quick flight to Donegal, landing on the beach, followed by a distillery visit, dinner, and an overnight stay before exploring Glenveagh National Park. Building an Itinerary That Fits You One of the biggest shifts in Irish travel is flexibility. Instead of rigid itineraries, travelers can now shape their own experience. Want a single day out of Dublin? Choose a few curated stops.Have more time? Add more experiences and slow the pace. This approach allows visitors to: Spend more time in places they love Discover areas they may not have considered Avoid the “rush from one highlight to the next” It's a more personal way to experience Ireland—and one that leaves a lasting impression. Why Slowing Down Matters Many travelers still follow the classic routes: like heading from the Cliffs of Moher straight to Galway or rushing from Wicklow to Kilkenny. But that often means missing what makes those regions special. Take County Clare, for example. While the cliffs draw the crowds, the real magic is found when you linger: The Burren's unique landscape, where alpine, arctic, and tropical plants grow side by side Quiet moments just sitting in the landscape, rather than rushing through Small towns and local businesses that rarely make the brochures As Gráinne shared, sometimes the best travel moments come from simply staying put a little longer. Learn more about Flavour Trails in Gráinne's previous Traveling in Ireland podcast episode 282. A Taste of County Clare: Where to Eat, Stay, and Sip If you're planning to explore beyond the main attractions, County Clare is well worth your time. A Proper Irish Pub O'Loclainn's Bar in Ballyvaughan is a favorite, known for its welcoming atmosphere and excellent whiskey selection. It's the kind of place where you settle in and stay awhile. Seafood Worth the Stop The Anchor Inn in Liscannor is a standout for fresh seafood. It's the kind of meal that reminds you just how close Ireland's food is to its source. A Relaxing Stay The Falls Hotel offers a comfortable base, with a spa that's earned high praise – perfect after a day of exploring. A Unique Stop in the Burren The Burren Perfumery offers something a bit different. Even in quieter seasons, visitors can stop in for a warm drink, explore handcrafted scents, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Looking for more County Clare advice? Click here! The Ireland You Haven't Experienced Yet What stands out most is how travel in Ireland is evolving. It's no longer just about checking off landmarks, it's about connection. Connection to: The land The food The people behind it all Whether it's a quick day trip or a carefully crafted multi-day journey, there are more ways than ever to experience Ireland in a meaningful, memorable way. And sometimes, the best plan is simply to slow down, stay a little longer, and see what unfolds. #129Josh sits down with Tony Aiazzi for a wide-ranging conversation about restaurant tech, bootstrapping, and the hidden operational work that keeps hospitality businesses running. Tony shares his path from the Culinary Institute of America and Charlie Palmer's kitchens to co-founding Shoebox, Over Easy Office, and Veteranized, explaining how one of the most frustrating parts of restaurant life became the foundation for an entirely new career. They dig into why invoice processing is still far messier than most people realize, how overseas teams in the Philippines and Colombia support modern restaurant back offices, and why the real promise of AI is not replacing craftsmanship but freeing people to spend more time on the work they actually love. It is a thoughtful look at what happens when restaurant operators build tools for the problems they know firsthand.Links and resources

When we've reached the end of an era and only three packages remain, their contribution to the show's well-documented problems makes it clear it's time to turn off auto-renew. But after a bunch of FoD questions elicit some new ideas for the show, it seems we're ready for 10 more years of indigestion and loose stool. Which type of museum would Ben and Adam open? What do wormhole aliens not care about at all? Who does Starfleet need to get into a uniform? It's the episode that paints a Godfather-like scene. Sign up for our mailing list! In this Climate Positive episode (our 100th!), Chad and Guy talk with Matt Loszak, CEO and co-founder of Aalo Atomics, about their innovative approach to building factory-made advanced micro reactors to power the AI-driven energy demand surge. Matt shares his unconventional journey from nuclear engineering student to software entrepreneur to nuclear startup founder, explaining why he believes we're entering a "second atomic age" for clean energy. Matt discusses Aalo's strategy of vertical integration and mass manufacturing, inspired by SpaceX and Tesla, to deliver compact, liquid metal-cooled nuclear reactors that can be deployed rapidly for data centers and other applications. He explains how the regulatory environment has evolved with recent executive orders streamlining pathways to criticality, the company's ambitious timeline to achieve zero power criticality by July 2026, and their vision for 3-cent-per-kilowatt-hour nuclear energy at scale. Matt also addresses public safety perceptions, the advantages of particular reactor technologies, and how their 50-megawatt "Aalo Pod" architecture provides the redundancy and incremental buildout that hyperscalers need.
