Two debut novelists are out with murder mysteries set in the United Kingdom. First, Jennie Godfrey's The List of Suspicious Things is a coming-of-age story inspired by the Yorkshire Ripper, the English serial killer who murdered 13 women in the 1970s. In today's episode, Godfrey tells NPR's Scott Simon about her own experience growing up during the time of these murders. Then, Death at the White Hart is a novel by Chris Chibnall, the creator of the television show Broadchurch. In today's episode, Chibnall tells NPR's Mary Louise Kelly about the two rival pubs at the center of his story. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
We start off with Howard's exciting return to SXM with his new contract, ready to kick off another three years of the Howard Stern Show! Well that excitement ends quickly. Why would anyone be excited for this? Howard isn't into it, the staff isn't into it, there's no reason for listeners to be into it. Cardiff calls in to Jim Norton's show and clowns Chad Zumock to his friend Godfrey. Robert Kelly pulled an Opie. Bill Burr brings up the Riyadh Comedy Festival and it noticeably throws him off. Bill did a show with his wife, Nia, and it's hard to tell who is worse as they bicker about their terrible relationship. Stuttering John made a new friend and he thinks that makes him a great person who deserves praise. Once again, Opie decides to go after Jim Norton out of nowhere but Ron calls him out. Megan and Annie join us for a round of “Is It Gay?” and the Opie or Burr game. We finish up with reviews, comments, and your voicemails. We are inching closer and closer to the culmination of the college football season and this week gives us the next step on that journey. The College Football Playoff Semifinals. One of the star quarterbacks in the playoff is fighting to get a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. Ross Dellenger explains this story and how there is a chance Trinidad Chambliss is back at Ole Miss next season. Then Ross, Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey discuss Chambliss' effect on the Rebel's this season. They breakdown the semifinal matchup against Miami by discussing who has the advantage and what each team needs to do to move on to the Natty. Then, they move over to the other semifinal. This is a rematch from earlier in the year as Oregon takes on Indiana. Indiana got the best of Oregon in Eugene, but the guys talk about how this is a much different Oregon team than it was in the first matchup. They discuss if Oregon will be able to get the best of this dominant Indiana team or if the Hoosiers will claim their spot in the championship game. Plus, they look at how the Big Ten conference was not given enough credit for the strength of its teams this year. Later, Ross reports about the college football calendar changing yet again. No more spring ball? Discussions are being had about changes to the early signing period, games in Week 0, CFP dates, the dates of the portal and spring and summer access periods. Ross, Andy and Godfrey discuss the benefits of changing all of these and what changes should happen to improve the college football calendar.Get ready for the CFP Semifinals with College Football Enquirer.0:00:00 - Trinidad Chambliss petitions for 6th year15:21 - Miami vs. Ole Miss CFP Semifinal28:07 - Oregon vs. Indiana CFP Semifinal48:13 - Fixing the college football calendar Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

The transfer portal is open and chaos is already ensuing. The portal opened on January 2nd and by midday there were over 4,500 Division I athletes in the portal. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey explain the importance of the portal and how fans should view it. They also look at programs like Kentucky and Penn State and discuss what fans should expect from their teams in the transfer portal. Plus, they discuss the three different ways teams attack the transfer portal and what version works best. Then, they look at a team whose coaches are caught between the CFP and the transfer portal for a rival school. Andy and Godfrey discuss the on-going drama at Ole Miss and if they expect all of the assistant coaches to continue coaching through the CFP. Will some of them just stay recruiting with Lane Kiffin at LSU rather than going back to Ole Miss? The guys discuss how, although Ole Miss is a unique situation, the concept of CFP coaches pulling double-duty between game prep and recruiting is consistent across all four playoff teams. Plus, Andy and Godfrey take a look at the SEC's poor performance in the postseason. They discuss if the depth in the league is overrated and how the conference should be viewed going forward.Later, the guys take a look at Tulsa's innovative approach to transfer portal recruiting. Tulsa has launched the Portal House. A house they rented out, revamped and are having their coaches live in to use exclusively for recruits. They are also creating their own reality show from it. Godfrey tells a jaw-dropping story about a Georgia comedy show that turned hostile, racist, and nearly violent, including threats, hecklers, and bouncers ready to jump in. From there, the crew spirals into fake boxing champions, the “Mumbai Hammer,” religious grifters with private jets, mega-church money, fitness scams, workout cults, David Goggins madness, growing up in the 60s–90s survival era, Evel Knievel stunts, playground injuries, and why insecurity is the most profitable business on earth AND MUCH MORE!!!Featuring Vishnu Vaka, Akeem Woods, and Dante NeroLegendary Comedian Godfrey is LIVE from New York, and joins some of his best friends in stand up comedy, Hip-Hop and Hollywood to talk current events, pop culture, race issues, movies, music, TV and Kung Fu. The CFP Quarterfinals are complete and the Semifinals are set! Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss the final game, and most entertaining game, of the quarterfinals that saw #6 Ole Miss take down #3 Georgia. They discuss the heroic effort of quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and how impressive the Rebels have been under new head coach Pete Golding. It is clear that Ole Miss is trying to move past the Lane Kiffin drama, but will Lane Kiffin let that happen? Ross tells us there is a chance the Ole Miss assistant coaches, who will be at LSU next year, may not be with Ole Miss for the remainder of the playoff. Is Kiffin regretting his decision to leave? Then, the guys look at who Ole Miss will be facing. #10 Miami upset #2 Ohio State and will be moving on to the semis. Andy, Ross and Godfrey look at Miami's impressive performance and their dominance in the trenches. Might they be able to win the whole thing? Then, they look at the other side of the bracket. First, they discuss Indiana's dominating 35-point win over Alabama in the Rose Bowl. Coach Curt Cignetti has his team firing on all cylinders. Godfrey thinks they look like a Nick Saban led Alabama team. Is there anyone that can stop Indiana? Next, they look at Oregon's dominant 23-0 win over Texas Tech. Should the Red Raiders still consider their season a success, and can they keep building for the future? Plus, the guys look ahead to the rematch between Oregon and Indiana? Can the Ducks get revenge for their regular season loss to Indiana, or will the Hoosiers keep rolling towards a National Championship?Later, Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss if this season will have the first, first-time National Champion since 1996. Of the four teams remaining, Miami is the only team that is recognized as having a National Championship. A 75% chance of a first time champ are pretty good odds. The guys also discuss how this year's quarterfinals may have impacted the future expansion of the CFP.Come get caught up on all things CFP with College Football Enquirer.0:00:00 - Ole Miss upsets Georgia12:35 - Lane Kiffin's affect on Ole Miss playoff run18:33 - Miami upsets Ohio State26:10 - Indiana dominates Alabama34:28 - Oregon defeats Texas Tech41:08 - Oregon vs. Indiana preview45:30 - Will there be a first time National Champ?53:47 - Quarterfinals' impact on CFP expansion Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

Comedian Godfrey is joined by Dean Edwards, Eva Evans, Akeem Woods, Dante Nero, and Vishnu Vaka and have an intense, unfiltered conversation after a shocking video from Bangladesh sparks a heated debate. What starts as a discussion about mob violence quickly escalates into a deeper argument about context, historical trauma, race, religion, and why certain comparisons cross a line. The panel wrestles with false equivalencies, lived experiences, and how empathy can break down when history is ignored, before shifting into broader discussions on Black American trauma, immigrant assimilation, modern political rhetoric, culture wars, Hollywood gatekeeping, independent comedy, and Godfrey's special Rebel With a Cause, making this a tense, emotional, and unfiltered episode that moves from global news to personal experience and behind-the-scenes industry stories.Legendary Comedian Godfrey is LIVE from New York, and joins some of his best friends in stand up comedy, Hip-Hop and Hollywood to talk current events, pop culture, race issues, movies, music, TV and Kung Fu. The College Football Playoff Quarterfinals begin tomorrow. For the lone game on New Year's Eve the country will turn its attention to the Cotton Bowl as #10 Miami takes on #2 Ohio State. The meeting is a rematch of a historic national championship game. Times have changed a bit since that meeting, as many of the players in this game had not been born for the previous matchup. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss this clash of talent. Could the talent on Miami's roster be enough to keep up with Ohio State, or will the Buckeyes' defense be too much for the Hurricanes to handle? Then, the guys look at the final quarterfinal matchup that they have yet to discuss. #6 Ole Miss takes on #3 Georgia. This is a rematch as well, but this previous matchup was only a couple of months ago. Although the prior matchup was recent, much has changed with one of the programs as Ole Miss now has Pete Golding leading them rather than Lane Kiffin. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss what kind of impact that will have on the game and if there is any way that Ole Miss can pull the upset. Then, the crew discusses a bit of college football news as a familiar face returns to the college ranks. Chip Kelly has been hired by Northwestern to be their offensive coordinator. Kelly is coming off of a 2024 national title run with Ohio State followed by a short run with the Las Vegas Raiders in which he was fired mid-season. He was the offensive coordinator on both of those staffs. The guys look at why this is a good hire for Northwestern and what else they need to focus on to be successful.Later, Godfrey asked and the Pop-Tarts Bowl delivered. After Godfrey made it very clear, a few episodes ago, that he wanted one of the care packages the Pop-Tarts Bowl was sending out, a package has arrived. Michigan has found their man! The Wolverines have named a new head coach. Former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham will now be the head coach at Michigan. Whittingham stepped down from Utah at the end of this season, but made it very clear he was not done with coaching. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey react to this hire and discuss if they think Whittingham is the right man for the job. Can he succeed immediately at Michigan, and what does immediate success look like? Then, the guys turn their sights to the upcoming College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchups. First, they preview the Rose Bowl. Top-seeded Indiana takes on ninth-seeded Alabama. Andy and Godfrey discuss if Alabama can win this game and what they have to do to upset the Hoosiers. They also look at how dominant Indiana has been this year and discuss what Indiana may focus on for this game.Later, Andy and Godfrey look across the country and preview the Orange Bowl. Fifth-seed Oregon takes on fourth-seed Texas Tech. The crew discusses if Texas Tech can handle Oregon's offense and what the Red Raiders can do to win this game. Another piece of college football tradition has been lost due to the changing of the times. On Monday, it was announced that the Notre Dame and USC rivalry will be cancelled as both sides could not reach an agreement to extend the series. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss what caused yet another casualty in college football. Is this another move that we can blame on TV networks? Will we ever see this game return? While the schools are now looking for opponents to replace that game, Notre Dame also announced that it is finalizing a two-year deal to face BYU starting in 2026. The crew discusses the matchup that could have had huge CFP implications this season. Then, the guys discuss what non-CFP bowl games they are most interested in. They dive into the bowl that has had a meteoric rise in popularity, the Pop-Tarts Bowl. The crew looks at what makes this bowl so intriguing and they discuss the matchup on the field that will see #22 Georgia Tech take on #12 BYU. Plus, Godfrey gets upset that Ross was the only one of the group who got reached out to for a Pop-Tarts care package. They also take a look at what other bowl matchups they are most interested in watching.Later, the guys update everyone on the continued Michigan search. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss interim head coach Biff Poggi's strong comments the other day that included phrases like "a malfunctioning organization" and "before I go smoke myself to death with cigars, I want to fix this program." They chat about if Poggi has a legitimate shot at the role and who are some other candidates that could fit well in. The time has finally arrived. Twelve regular season games, and the conference championship games, have all led up to this point. After all of the questions, debate, anger and anxiety; the first round of the College Football Playoff begins Friday! The excitement gets started with ninth-seeded Alabama visiting eighth-seeded Oklahoma. A rematch from the regular season in which the Sooners came out on top. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss the matchup and what they think both teams need to do to come out victorious. Then, they take a look at another big-time matchup that will see tenth-seeded Miami visit seventh-seeded Texas A&M. They discuss the quick turnaround A&M has made under Mike Elko and how Miami can come away victorious. Also, Godfrey discusses the Group of Five teams deserving a spot in the Playoff and Ross looks at the fourteen coaches who will be coaching in the Playoff despite having accepted a different coaching job for next season. Then, Ross talks about a story he wrote last year that is coming back to light. The current CFP agreement states that in the 2026 season, the Power 4 conference champions will be guaranteed a spot in the field. It also stated that a Top-12 ranked Notre Dame would automatically get a bid. This overlooked and forgotten caveat has become the topic of much debate. The crew discusses its impact and what may come of this agreement if the Playoff is expanded to 16 teams. They also dive into the NFL's impact on the CFP and why some of the premiere college games this weekend are not in the premiere time slots.Later, it's time for I've Got A Feeling. You get double the picks today as the guys not only pick games for this weekend, but they also pick who they think will be crowned National Champion. The transfer portal does not open until January 2nd, but you would not have known that by looking at the news coming from the college football world on Monday. Athletes continue to announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal, and some top quarterbacks will be on the move in a couple of weeks. Florida's DJ Lagway, Nebraska's Dylan Raiola and Cincinnati's Brendan Sorsby all announced they will be playing for a different school next season. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss who the top available quarterback is and where some of these guys might land. They also discuss NIL's impact on all of this. A common thought is that players are transferring for more money, but are some quarterbacks transferring because they are being forced out of their current NIL contracts? Then, the guys chat about a judge granting Jeremy Pruitt a preliminary injunction against the NCAA. This blocks the six-year show-cause order against Pruitt and moves him one step closer to returning to the sidelines. Jesse Minter also has a show-cause from his time at Michigan, and Pruitt's ruling makes the crew wonder if his show-cause order could get overturned should Michigan look to hire him as their next head coach. In the latest news from the Michigan coaching search, Kalen DeBoer has now said multiple times that he is not leaving Alabama. Although part of the crew is not convinced, the guys discuss who else the Wolverines may look to.Later, Godfrey finally makes his case to save the bowls. The bowl season is a time that used to be cherished by many, but the creation of the College Football Playoff, among other issues, has caused a decline in anticipation and excitement for bowl games. Key Takeaways Video transfer and archival services can be a massive, consistent revenue stream—Chad's business grows every year despite assumptions that the market would dry up Building real relationships through chambers, boards, and local networking events is still the most effective way to generate buzz and trust in your community Teaching free workshops positions you as a leader and keeps you top of mind when people need professional help—it's counterintuitive but it works Having strategic relationships with complementary businesses (graphic designers, photographers, etc.) creates a powerful referral network About Chad Godfrey As a young child, Chad Godfrey was constantly infatuated with film and video cameras, audio recorders, and early personal computers. In 2004, Chad linked these interests together and started a business. For the past 21 years, Chad has been the owner of Summit Video Services, an audio and video production and photography services company based in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Chad is an Emmy-nominated and nationally-awarded video producer with recognitions in the areas of video production, editing, photography, design, documentary, motion graphics, and sound design. Chad's professional work in video production includes documentary and brand films for businesses and the non-profit sector. He is a creative storyteller with a unique ability to structure a narrative, whether for a short film, commercial, music video, or YouTube vlog. Chad has an exceptional capability to pace a story, build tension, and create emotional engagement; all critical skills to the clients he serves. Chad's photography is primarily commercial, providing services for architectural firms, municipalities, and the commercial real estate industry. Though less for profit, Chad's true passion is landscape and astro-photography. He's had many opportunities to travel internationally with a backpack full of gear (sometimes too full) to "chase the light." Chad is a contributing member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Chad's spouse of 24 years, Suzie, is an elementary teacher in the Lee's Summit School District. Together, they have three kids, ages 22, 19, and 15. In This Episode [00:00] Welcome to the show! If you're not generating some buzz about what you do in your local area, then you're just not doing enough." - Chad Godfrey "That seems counterintuitive—you're giving away the farm. But when people can actually see you as a leader in that realm and that you're giving away some of your knowledge, they're gonna wanna come back to you and pick your brain some more." - Chad Godfrey "The quickest and easiest way to build trust with somebody is in person so they can really see what you're like. The Indiana Hoosiers have their first Heisman trophy winner. Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza won the 91st Heisman trophy on Saturday night. He beat out fellow finalists Diego Pavia, Jeremiyah Love and Julian Sayin by a wide margin. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss Mendoza's win and share their thoughts on the quarterback's stellar season. Plus, Andy and Ross share who they voted for. The guys also discuss how the conversation around Mendoza immediately turned to if he will succeed in the NFL. They dive into the NFL's quarterback obsession and where they go wrong when evaluating college quarterbacks. The Heisman ceremony was not the only big event that happened on Saturday. The 126th edition of the Army-Navy game saw Navy take the win for the second straight year. The Midshipmen defeated the Black Knights 17-16 on a late game touchdown pass from Blake Horvath to Eli Heidenreich. Ross was in attendance and shares his experience at the game after the guys share their thoughts on the game. Then, the crew discusses the Big 12's latest news. Last week, Ross shared Utah's news about their private equity deal and the guys said this would open the floodgates. Well, that may be proving to be correct as the Big 12 announced they are close to a private capital deal. Ross shares the story he broke and the crew discusses what the impact of this potential deal could be. Godfrey cautions the risk level of this move.Later, we stay in the Big 12 for some more news. Utah announced that head coach Kyle Whittingham is stepping down. Utah's appearance in the upcoming Las Vegas bowl will be his last game as the leader of the Utes. Defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley has long been Whittingham's heir apparent and will be Utah's new head coach. The guys discuss the timing of this move, if this move will work for Utah and Scalley and if this means that we may see Whittingham coaching elsewhere in the future.Get caught up on all things college football with College Football Enquirer.(0:46) - Fernando Mendoza wins the Heisman(23:05) - Ross' Army-Navy game experience/ game recap(30:38) - Big 12's move towards private capital(47:02) - Kyle Whittingham Steps down Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:
Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday. He was fired with cause for having an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member." The story broke with this news, but continued to evolve and a few hours later it was reported that Moore had been detained by police. Details will continue to come out as more is learned about this situation. Until then, Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey will just look at the football impact of Moore's firing with the big question: Who will be Michigan's next head coach? Signing Day has passed, so Michigan does not need to rush the process of finding their guy. The Transfer Portal opens January 2nd, and it would make sense to want to have a coach in place by that date. Kalen DeBoer is a name that is being rumored, but it is not known if he has any interest. Kenny Dillingham is another name the crew suggests as a good fit. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss who may be a good fit for the Wolverines going forward. Then, we get some more news from Ross in Vegas. It appears there is momentum to move the playoff to a 16-team model. Most of the conferences are on board, but the Big Ten is still not fully sold. The guys talk about the potential of moving to a 16-team playoff and what that format would look like. The other big piece of news is there seems to be a groundswell of support to get rid of the weekly College Football Playoff Rankings Show. How would ESPN handle the elimination of this show? Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss how realistic this idea is.Later, it is a big weekend in college football. The biggest individual award in the sport will be given out on Saturday. Indiana's quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, is the betting favorite to win the Heisman, but the guys think that Vanderbilt's quarterback, Diego Pavia, might make a push to win the award. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love are the other two finalists for the prestigious award. Will Indiana or Vanderbilt have its first Heisman trophy winner? Plus, the guys make their I've Got A Feeling picks. They discuss the Army/Navy game, an FCS playoff game, and one of the first bowl games of the season. We are a couple of days removed from Sunday's College Football Playoff selection, but the drama continues to unfold. Notre Dame is at the center of the conversation as they continue to discuss being left out of the CFP. Notre Dame Athletic Director Pete Bevacqua was on the Dan Patrick show on Monday and said the ACC's handling of the Playoff situation has done "permanent damage to the relationship." Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss this shaky relationship between Notre Dame and the ACC. They also debate whether the time is coming for Notre Dame to separate itself from the ACC and make a new scheduling deal with either the Big Ten or the SEC. Plus, they chat about the rule that will go into effect next season which gives Notre Dame an automatic CFP berth if they are ranked in the Top 12. Could that rule could potentially be voided? Then, the guys look to the coaching carousel, which has drastically slowed down. Penn State has finally named their new head coach. Matt Campbell, Iowa State's head coach for the last decade, will now lead the Nittany Lions. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss this hire, why they like it, and what Campbell needs to do to succeed in Happy Valley. Later, Ross discusses the groundbreaking news he broke while recording the pod. Utah has struck a private equity deal. The deal with Otro Capital could make over $500 million. Could this deal open the floodgates? The guys discuss this move and share their hesitations and expectations. The time has come! The College Football Playoff bracket is set and it came with plenty of drama surrounding the reveal. After a championship Saturday consisting of a now 8-5 Duke team becoming ACC champions and #9 Alabama being dominated by #3 Georgia, the question was raised of who would get the final at-large spots in the Playoff? Would Miami finally be ranked ahead of Notre Dame? Could both teams get in and Alabama fall out? Would the ACC have no representative at all? We now have our answers. Notre Dame was left out in the cold after the committee kept Alabama in at #9 and jumped Miami to #10. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey share their thoughts on the committee's final bracket. They also dive further into Notre Dame being left out. Why did the committee change their mind in the final ranking? Should they have been in the field? Who has the best path in the bracket? The guys discuss. Then, they dive further into the question of if it is already time to expand the playoff to 16 teams. Andy and Godfrey also look at if conference championship games should be eliminated and more importantly, if the weekly College Football Playoff rankings show should be changed. How should ESPN change the show that seems to only provide controversy, questions and inconsistencies?Later, Ross Dellenger rejoins the show and shares his conversation with Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua. He shares Bevacqua's thoughts on Notre Dame not making the CFP and what went on behind the scenes within the Notre Dame building when the team found out. Bevacqua also calls for the elimination of the weekly CFP ranking shows. Andy, Ross and Godfrey discuss Ross and Bevacqua's conversation and they also debate if it is time for Notre Dame to join a conference.Come get all the College Football Playoff insights on College Football Enquirer.(1:09) - College Football Playoff bracket revealed(4:16) - Thoughts on the bracket(16:05) - Should Notre Dame have been in the CFP?(26:28) - Should the Playoff expand to 16 teams?(44:52) - Does the weekly CFP rankings show need to be eliminated?(48:11) - Ross' conversation with Notre Dame Athletic Director Pete Bevacqua(55:44 ) - Does Notre Dame need to join a conference? Conference championship weekend is here! Spots in the College Football Playoff are on the line, and not just for teams in Power Four conferences. Could we see two Group of Five teams in this year? Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey preview what they are most interested in this weekend. First, they preview the matchup between the nation's highest ranked teams. #1 Ohio State faces #2 Indiana for the Big Ten Championship Game. Although this game does not have much of an effect on either team making the Playoff, it may tell us a lot about what to expect in the Playoff. Then, it's the Big 12 Championship Game between #11 BYU and #4 Texas Tech. A win for Tech secures a first round bye, but is there a path for BYU to make the Playoff even with a loss in the title game? One of the guys thinks that may be possible. Lastly, they look at the ACC Championship Game and its impact on the CFP. Duke takes on #17 Virginia. Virginia will make the CFP if they win, but Duke coach Manny Diaz thinks that a 7-5 ACC champion Duke team would also make the field. Could this be the case, or would it pave a path for multiple Group of Five teams? The guys debate all of this and more.Later, Ross' Congressional Minute gives an update on the SCORE Act's progress in Congress, or more appropriately, the lack of progress. Ross explains why there has been another delay with the act and if there is any light at the end of the tunnel for its supporters. The guys discuss why there is so much controversy around this act and what needs to happen in the future for any progress to be made. Finally, Andy, Ross and Godfrey give their picks for this week's I've Got A Feeling. Their records have not been great this year, but maybe that will change this week. Georgia, Tulane and Western Michigan are this week's choices.Get ready for the Conference Championships with College Football Enquirer.(3:46) - Big Ten Championship Game preview(9:28) - Big 12 Championship Game preview/ Can BYU make the CFP with a loss?(15:10) - Can Duke make the CFP with a loss to Virginia/ expanding the rankings ahead of conference champ games(26:43) - Ross' Congressional Minute - The SCORE Act gets delayed again(53:07) - I've Got A Feeling picks Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:
The penultimate College Football Playoff rankings have been released, but the picture of who is going to make it in the final field is still unclear. A CFP first could happen this year with the potential of two Group of Five teams making the Playoff. This would mean the ACC champion would be left out. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey discuss the scenario in which this could happen. They also discuss which bubble teams should be concerned and which bubble teams have a good shot at making the Playoff. Can Texas or Miami make their way into the field of 12? Is there a way Miami can jump Notre Dame? The guys dive into all of this and more from the latest rankings reveal. Then, they jump back on the coaching carousel. Kalani Sitake had been rumored as a top candidate for the Penn State job. This is no longer the case as he announced that he will be staying at BYU. Andy and Godfrey explain how this all occurred and what role the CEO of Crumbl played in this story. Then, they discuss where Penn State goes from here and who fits best for the role. The guys also look at some other jobs that have been filled as both Oregon coordinators are set to become head coaches. Oregon's defensive coordinator, Tosh Lupoi, returns to his alma mater to be the head coach at Cal. Oregon's offensive coordinator, Will Stein, is off to be the head coach for Kentucky. How will these new branches from the Dan Lanning tree grow at their new locations?Later, Andy and Godfrey dive into some recruiting news. The early national signing period begins on Wednesday and a shocking flip has already occurred. On Tuesday, it was announced that the top-ranked quarterback, Jared Curtis, is flipping from Georgia to Vanderbilt. The guys dive into this huge news and discuss what it means for Vanderbilt, Georgia and college football as a whole.Get ready for the postseason with College Football Enquirer. The Lane Kiffin saga has finally come to a conclusion and it was the messiest version possible. After weeks of proposed "deadlines", meetings and delays, a conclusion has finally been reached. Lane Kiffin has officially left Ole Miss to be the head coach for LSU. Part of the hold-up was that Kiffin wanted to remain Ole Miss' head coach through the College Football Playoff. Ole Miss refused that request. Kiffin is now in Baton Rouge and Pete Golding has been promoted to become Ole Miss' new head coach. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey breakdown how the final few days of the saga played out. They discuss what they expect from Ole Miss under Golding and if Kiffin should have been allowed to coach the Playoff.Lane Kiffin was not the only coaching change that happened on Sunday. In fact, he was one of many. The coaching carousel turned to chaos on Sunday as Jon Sumrall went to Florida, Alex Golesh went to Auburn, Ryan Silverfield went to Arkansas and Pat Fitzgerald went to Michigan State. The guys discuss if each of these hires were the right fit for the school and Lane Kiffin's affect on how all of these hires played out. Later, the guys recap some of the action from Week 14. #1 Ohio State broke their losing streak to #15 Michigan, but the biggest news of the weekend was #16 Texas defeating previously unbeaten #3 Texas A&M. Andy and Godfrey discuss what effect this will have on Tuesdays College Football Playoff rankings. They also take a look at the ACC. #18 Virginia is set to take on Duke in the ACC title game, but what happens if Duke wins? Could the ACC miss out on the CFP completely? The coaching carousel keeps on spinning, but Florida State is not joining the party in 2025. FSU announced on Sunday that Mike Norvell will remain the head coach of the Seminoles in 2026. This announcement comes at the end of a disappointing season that began with a lot of promise. Promises have been made to enhance the roster next season. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey discuss why Florida State decided to make this move and if they think it was the right decision. Then, they look to Michigan State where a decision looms. Will the Spartans keep Jonathan Smith or will the current eight-game losing streak be the final straw of a disappointing tenure in East Lansing? Coaching carousel drama would not be complete without another Lane Kiffin update. The guys discuss Kiffin's recent silence on the topic of his coaching decision. They also discuss what will happen to the team that misses out on Kiffin and why this year's selection of candidates is unique to those of the past. Then, the guys talk about events happening on the field. There are a lot of games this week with massive CFP implications as we close out the regular season. A notable one, and one that Andy thinks may be ready for an upset, is #10 Alabama visiting Auburn. The guys discuss if this game will actually be close and Andy makes his case as to why he thinks this is a potential upset to keep an eye on. Then they chat about the game that will have everyone watching because of Lane Kiffin. #6 Ole Miss visits Mississippi State on Friday for the Egg Bowl.
