Welcome back to “Runway Series”, the podcast produced by Olive Capital.I am still your host, Raph, and this season is a bit of an evolution. We're still following the same curiosity that's always shaped this show, the stuff changing underneath finance, product, and the way people build and finance tech innovation, but we're packaging it in a more focused way. We'll be exploring a few themes that feel especially important right now.One is invisible rails: the infrastructure quietly reshaping how money moves, settles, and flows through everyday products.Another is the agentic economy: what happens when software starts doing more of the work, not just helping us do it. We've already started exploring this theme last year. We'll also look at trustless privacy, how people and companies can share less, protect more, and still move faster. And we'll spend time on everyday money: the consumer fintech questions that matter most in practice, from how people manage their accounts to what makes a financial product actually stick. The idea is simple. Keep following the signals, keep talking to the people building the future, and keep making sense of what all of this means in real life. That's what this season is about. The topics will intermingle for sure, this is an exploration, so we will see how this season unfolds.-- The podcasts are authored, edited and produced by Raph Grieco (raphael-grieco.com | olivecapital.vc).

What better way to celebrate one of the biggest crossovers between DC and Marvel in years than to crossover with another podcast? I know, right? In a series of two episodes, Raging Bullets and Comic Timing are teaming together to take on the one-shot Superman and Spider-Man issues! First up is Superman/Spider-Man, published by DC, with a main story by Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez. Sean Whelan joins Brent, Raph and Ian to break down each story within the issue itself, as well as the history behind this event, what type of team-ups we'd like to see down the road, whether we prefer "themed" crossover issues over more random crossovers, and much more! You can support future releases of Comic Timing and get in on the occasional early releases of the show at http://www.patreon.com/ComicTiming. Our first Extra Point in a minute, Kris and Ian are here for a chill conversation about some recent events. This includes Kris' trip to the Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase a few weeks back, as well as this year's FCBD/Comics Giveaway Day. How did the first post-Diamond Free Comic Book Day compare to days of old, and what can comic shops do to make sure their event is inviting to customers? Kris also shares the overall vibe surrounding St. Marks Comics in Brooklyn and how they handled handing out free comics, while Ian attends FCBD at Collector Cave in The Bronx. You've heard of Twitch, formerly Justin.tv, the website where you watch sweaty guys play Fortnite. But are you aware that there is a dark and twisted bizarro Twitch called 'Kick'? It's where some of our planet's greatest degenerates have decided to call home, with extremely lax terms of service allowing them to do and show much more than they could on the comparatively draconian purple app. Your children are watching this filth, mouth agog, and it's letting them vicariously experience what it's like to be the most annoying prick on the high street. Or worse, watching 'rapper' Drake mindlessly bet on slots with house money [allegedly].Noted establishmentarians James and Raph stretched on their shoulder length rubber gloves to sort through one of the internets strangest pass times - watching other people exist. But first, a quick run down on GameStop's offer to buy Ebay.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episódio inicial sobre o DRAFT 2026. Falamos sobre os Quarterbacks com Raphão (@raphaomartins).
Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay spent the evening playing pool and arcade video games at the Foot Lair before jumping on to talk "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Andy kicks the episode off by talking about the delicious pizza in the movie, and how it reminded him of the time he was physically tossed out of a $1 slice joint in New York. Then the fellas try to make sense out of one of the most befuddling kids movies that for over a decade was the most successful indie movie of all-time. On paper, none of it should work, but thanks in large part to the genius design of Jim Henson's last effort in film, the ridiculously cool costumes brought the comic book-turned-cartoon to life. Pairing the turtle designs with Hong Kong's legendary Golden Harvest production team brought top tier martial arts to the big screen with a grimy rain soaked late '80s New York as the backdrop. Not only did Raph and the gang look lifelike, but they faced off against one of the coolest looking villains ever with Shredder's incredible design. Toss in Degen Cinema royalty, Elias Koteas, as the bulky Casey Jones, and you have an undeniable children's classic that has six year olds, and grown degens shouting T-U-R-T-L-E POWER.
Once upon a time, this week's guest was the host of the Audioshocker Podcast, and split a table with Ian at Podcast Arena at New York Comic Con. These days, Nick Marino has followed his comic book dream, and is writing comics. Ian and Raph join Nick to discuss his previous works, including Godzilla Rivals: Biollante Vs. Destoroyah, as well as his upcoming IP crossover of epic proportions, Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla! We also discuss how the industry has changed for creators and retailers over the last few years, what life is like listing through Penguin Random House and Lunar versus the Diamond days, the removal of founder Mike Richardson from Dark Horse, whether you pronounce the X as an X or if it's a symbol for Cross, some further digital comics conversation, and so much more.Do go ahead and pre-order Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla if you haven't already done so, and you can find all things Nick Marino over at his website, https://www.nickmarino.net/. It's been way too long since Ian sat down with longtime friend of the show, Martheus Wade to talk shop, so here they are! Martheus is currently in the process of putting out a new Toshigawa Universe motion comic on YouTube as part of a relaunch of his baby, Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa. They also discuss Martheus' past and how the Toshigawa Universe came to be in the first place, how digital comics is creating a pathway for creators to get their books out there, what it takes to make a motion comic and the pieces that came together behind the scenes to make it happen, his part in the Heal the Hood Foundation and placing comic book vending machines in schools around Memphis, and so much more. That includes some sentai and Power Rangers talk, obviously, because how could we not?You can find more information on everything Toshigawa at toshigawauniverse.com and on Instagram and Bluesky, and you can follow Martheus on Instagram, and check out his other YouTube channel, Wade's World, and his Patreon. You can support future releases of Comic Timing and get in on the occasional early releases of the show at http://www.patreon.com/ComicTiming. Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of…Comic Timing. And boy oh boy, what a voyage this one is. Ian goes Star Trekkin’ with his two favorite allies, Kris and Raph, as they’re joined by current writer of the Star Trek: Lower Decks comic for IDW and lifelong Trekkie, Tim Sheridan! The crew go into their shared Trek histories, talk about where the franchise has gone over the years and how Trek continues to reinvent itself, what makes Star Trek unique in its personality and quality, how Deep Space Nine is all about family, some amazing stories from Tim in and around the industry over the years, and so much more. The group then discuss the first three episodes of the latest series to launch, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, along with the most recent season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, lots of Lower Decks (both the comics and the animated series), and so much more! Be sure to check out Tim’s Lower Decks comics if you haven’t already done so; issue 16 goes on sale February 11th at your local comic shop, and the trade collecting his first six issues on the book will be out in April. You can also check out all things Tim Sheridan at https://www.timsheridan.com/, and follow Tim on Bluesky, Instagram, and Threads. And thanks once again to Tim for coming on, it was a great time! Happy birthday to me, it’s this month’s Previews! Murd and Ian are back at it again, streamlining the process to touch on publishers already part of Lunar’s main catalog as they come up in it, just to make life easier. That means Image is later on in the episode than usual, but otherwise everything else is pretty similar. Highlights include DC and Marvel’s Superman/Spider-Man crossover, a facsimile of Marvel Team-Up issue 14 featuring Invincible and Spider-Man, Dan Abnett returning to Marvel cosmic with Imperial Guardians (Darkhawk is in it so Raph is buying it), a Disney Villains: Gaston and Thundercats x Silverhawks at Dynamite, Bible 2: King of the Jews, Baby!, Doug Wagner’s Narco, SuperCreepshow, and more! We are back, concluding our epic breakdown of ALL the characters rendered on Scott Koblish’s variant cover to New History of the DC Universe issue 1. Murd and Ian are the crew for this one, beginning with the middle left portion of the cover and making their way right to get through the rest of it all. Any of you DC history buffs, you’re in for some treats! Not only are there plenty of characters you’ve probably never heard of, but there’s also Annie and Tin Tin rip-offs, a few animals, a few talking animals, and versions of characters you’d barely recognize based on what they look like today. History at its finest here! And here is a link to DC’s high resolution version of this cover that we used for the YouTube version of this episode. All the Supercopa & LaLiga action delivered straight to your ears by our experts Ben Sully (@SullyBen) and Román de Arquer (@Aeroslavee).In part one, they delve into another action-packed ‘el clásico'. Barça conquered the Supercopa de España against an atypical Real Madrid, who sat back really deep, ultimately falling short and being eclipsed by Raphinha's fantastic performance. Will Xabi Alonso continue? Only time will tell...In part two, they focus on LaLiga and the seven fixtures that took place during the weekend. Girona finally escape the relegation zone, Villarreal keep up their winning momentum with an inspired Moleiro, Oviedo and Levante keep adding points to their tally, Rayo finally win after a dry run, and more...Thank you for listening to our pod, and remember that you can access our bonus podcast and weekly articles over at lllonline.substack.com. Welcome to 2026, one and all! And boy oh boy are we starting this one off with a BANG. Gold Team gathers together in the form of Ian, Chris Eberle and Adam Murdough, as we begin our journey into Mark Waid’s New History of the DC Universe! But before we go into the issues themselves, we must first start at the very beginning. In this instance, that means…the cover. That’s right, over the course of this and the next episode, we will be breaking down each and every character included on Scott Koblish’s Cover D Variant for this first issue, focusing on the Golden Age of DC (and subsequently Fawcett, Charlton, Quality, and a few other publishers) Universe. And here is a link to DC’s high resolution version of this cover that we used for the YouTube version of this episode. Prepare yourself for plenty of punny nom de plumes, ridiculous origins, and villains becoming villains so they can murder a dog; okay that was just one of them, but that’s still one too many. Positively Murdoughnian, baby! Renato (Ren) Circi, co-founder of SAVA, a London based MedTech company building a new generation of minimally invasive continuous glucose monitors and molecular wearables. In this episode we rewind to the underground labs at Imperial College London where Ren and his co-founder Raph first immersed themselves in biosensors and began questioning the status quo of health monitoring. Ren explains how their shared obsession with measuring the body more effortlessly led to SAVA's founding and what it really looks like to push through years of scientific failure in order to build a complex medical device platform. We dive into why SAVA manufactures everything in-house, how their micro sensor architecture differs from traditional filament based CGMs and why controlling every layer from chemistry to algorithms is essential if you want to iterate fast on performance. Ren sets out SAVA's long term vision of continuous molecular tracking for everyone, not just people with diabetes, and what could be unlocked once you can monitor many molecules in real time from a single patch. We also talk about regulatory expectations for CGMs, the reality of one way product decisions in medical devices and the difficulty of fundraising for a consumer facing yet highly regulated deep tech company. Ren closes with candid reflections on what he would do differently, how he protects time for family and why working on a problem you truly care about with people you genuinely like is the only way to survive the journey.Timestamps[00:00:21] Origins at Imperial and discovering biosensors[00:01:59] Long horizons, repeated failure and staying in the game[00:03:56] Why SAVA manufactures everything in-house[00:06:46] How SAVA's micro sensor CGM platform actually works[00:09:36] From diabetes to universal molecular health monitoring[00:12:02] Patient experience and CGM adoption in healthcare systems[00:13:43] When CGMs become cheaper than finger-pricks[00:15:15] Misconceptions about CGM and continuous molecular sensing[00:17:21] Why building CGMs is one of the hardest engineering challenges[00:22:54] Fundraising in unconventional deep tech MedTech and advice for foundersConnect with Ren - https://www.linkedin.com/in/circi/Learn more about Sava - https://www.sava.health/Get in touch with Karandeep Badwal - https://www.linkedin.com/in/karandeepbadwal/ Follow Karandeep on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@KarandeepBadwalSubscribe to the Podcast
