In this episode of HUNTR Podcast, we're joined by returning guest Aaron Warbritton from The Hunting Public to discuss the good, bad, and the ugly of public land hunting. If you're a frequent listener of the show, you know how often we talk about public land hunting and the many issues it brings to the hunting experience. We often ask ourselves why? Is it because all of the leased ground is full and there's nowhere else to hunt? Is it because it's being promoted on social media? Or is it due to the lack of state regulation? At the end of the day, hunters just want the same thing. A good hunting experience for everyone across the board. How do we get there? It's almost summer! It's hot, the woods are thick, and the water is calling your name. But for the die-hard whitetail hunter, the work never stops. It's time to get boots on the ground for some summer scouting! While fighting ticks, thick vegetation and a three-digit heat index may not sound like a lot of fun, summer scouting can set you up for success this fall, especially if you're covering unfamiliar ground. In this episode of the Wisconsin Sportsman Podcast, Josh talks with Aaron Warbritton from The Hunting Public about how he approaches summer scouting. Aaron and the rest of the THP crew literally make a living by taking big bucks in limited time on highly pressured public land. And as you'll learn from this episode, a lot of their success can be attributed to scouting, specifically, summer scouting. Aaron doesn't put as much stock into some of the typical summer scouting tactics like glassing ag fields. Instead, he prefers to jump right into the thick of it and try to find where the bucks are bedding, or will be bedding come hunting season. With deer seasons winding down across the country, the majority of hunters can't help but think about the fast-approaching turkey season. By far my favorite time of the year to be in the woods, the wild turkey provides a great way to get outdoors and actually interact with the animal you are chasing. Aaron Warbritton of The Hunting Public is one of the best in the sport at being able to coax these birds into his spread and what better way to kick off 2023 than with some great tips and tactics on hunting early in the season and some critical habitat improvements you can do on your own land to help improve nesting sites and make areas that these turkeys want to be in. Thanks to Aaron for coming on the show again and sharing some insight into what they are doing during the spring turkey season across the country. If you are like us, you often feel unable to relate to hunting shows telling you to hunt food sources in late season as you watch someone hunt over a standing crop field in frigid temperatures. Many hunters don't hunt in an area that allows them to hunt near destination food sources like that or even in cold weather. So finding a good food source that deer pile into when it gets cold isn't that easy. We have also found that targeting food sources during the late season isn't the only way to hunt heavily pressured areas. In this podcast, Aaron and I talk about different situations that we have found mature bucks during late season and what we target to find them. Hopefully you can relate to this conversation about late season hunting! On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan talks with Aaron Warbritton of the Hunting Public about how he uses trail cameras throughout the hunting season and how he documents all of his finding on hunting apps. Arron talks about where he places his trail cameras on exit trails in bedding areas and in locations that will catch nocturnal deer movement as well as any pressure from other hunters. This gives him an idea of what deer are in the area and what kind of access strategy he needs to use to avoid other public land hunters. As this information starts to come in, he waits for the right conditions to make a move on a shooter buck. The second half of the conversation revolves around how he documents everything he observes while in the woods scouting and hunting. Aaron documents everything from old sign from previous years, to fresh rubs and scrapes, food sources, parking areas, and taking detailed notes so he has as much information to pull from when he is putting together a hunting strategy on a shooter buck. Tons of great information on this episode. Listen close, you might just learn something. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week on the HUNTR Podcast, Aaron Warbritton joins Jared and Jeremy to discuss sponsorships, access, and the evolution of The Hunting Public.
During this podcast, we are joined by Aaron Warbrittion of The Hunting Public. As a fellow passionate turkey hunter Aarons' experiences bring a unique point of view as a huge public land turkey hunter. We bring a new perspective to the turkey decline across the country. This is not just a Missouri problem as Aaron shares from his experience, he has witnessed this in Arkansas and many of the other Southeastern states. So the question becomes, what can a public and private landowner do collectively to address this problem? How can we come together to support habitat enhancement, fund research, and bring awareness to the issue. Join us for a collective assessment on the future of the wild turkey. We aren't singing the doom and gloom song, but we bringing awareness to the general decline of the turkey as a natural resource. Land & Legacy is Powered by Simplecast

Aaron Warbritton is well-known hunter and conservationist, most widely recognized for his work with The Hunting Public on YouTube. In this episode we talk with Aaron about the most recent fundraiser they put on to raise money to start up a research project that will be headed up by Dr. Mike Chamberlain, otherwise known as the Wild Turkey Doctor. We also take the conversation into deeper detail for the reasoning of the fundraiser and the growing concern about wild turkey populations.
Most of you probably know The Hunting Public, but do you know their story? Do you know why they decided to found their business? Do you really understand what they’re trying to do? I’ve really come to respect these guys, because I have first hand seen how they’re running not only their content, but their business. They’re not pay to play, swapping sponsors out nonstop and grossly creating sponsored kills. They are themselves all the time. That’s something to admire. We’re going to talk about all of that and talk about how Aaron feels about the culture of hunting. If you haven’t seen it, Aaron was recently on my other show, Gearbox Talk, too. Don’t miss that one. This podcast is brought to you by GoWild. https://youtu.be/xGkPflY9XWs

Hunting turkey on public land comes with an added challenge because of all the pressure they experience on a daily basis. Aaron Warbritton from The Hunting Public came to Gearbox Talk to explain how to handle highly pressured birds on public land, what factors he takes into account when picking a spot to call from on public land, how to use turkey locator calls, what his go-to turkey locators are, what his tried and true calls for those first turkey interactions in the morning are, how do he varies his calls throughout the day, what he recommends for a beginner starting to call turkeys, how calling varies in the spring and the fall, and the biggest mistake beginners make when calling turkey on public land.Gearbox Talk is brought to you by GoWildDownload GoWild today. Aaron is one of the best in the world when it comes to explaining the process he and team go through when they tackle the challenge of finding new areas to hunt! He also explains some of the specific tactics they use for getting on bucks during the rut! Without a doubt, one of the things that makes watching The Hunting Public so exciting is that they are not afraid to get aggressive, and in this episode we get a behind the scenes take on how they go about doing that.
Aggressive whitetail tactics can arguably yield more mature buck sightings than any other method used for hunting these elusive critters. Aaron Warbritton, Greg Clements and Jake Huebschman from The Hunting Public join Mark and Erik on an in-depth discussion that dives into tactics that can pay off for heavily pressured whitetails on public land, and even small acreage private properties when implemented at the proper time. You’ll learn about: Hunting specific buck beds – how to identify them and why setting up in close proximity to these “bedrooms” yields encounters during shooting hours, even during timeframes like the October lull when bucks traditionally display nocturnal tendencies. Using observation sits to identify bedding locations from afar, and then moving in for a close-quarters ambush when similar conditions present an ideal opportunity. The “bump and dump” strategy, which involves spooking a buck from a bed and then hunting it again at a later date. Even if the buck ran off scared and alerted to your presence, he’ll be back to his core area. When he returns, you’ll be waiting. Unconventional tactics, like still hunting and using ghillie suits to ambush whitetails in areas void of trees. When you should make an aggressive move and dive into a sanctuary. Mobile hunting tactics and why being able to adapt on the fly can be the difference when hunting over fresh, hot sign or sitting on the sidelines, unlikely to cross paths with your target animal.
