This time of year might not seem relevant for deer hunting, but if you want to find consistent success like some of the best big buck hunters, you might want to change your offseason approach. Travis Nowotny is one of the most lethal mountain hunters I know. In this episode, we sat down to talk bears, and it turned into one of those conversations I just didn't want to end. Travis breaks down his entire approach to spring black bear hunting — from reading the green-up to picking the right terrain, hunting pressure-free country, and how early-season warmth like we're seeing this year completely changes where bears will be. We dig into bow vs. rifle tactics, why backpacking into bear country makes sense, and the one terrain feature he always keys on. We also get into e-scouting strategies for out-of-state tags, building hunting circles with guys who actually want to help each other, and why your hunting approach has to evolve as life gets busier. Travis opens up about balancing running Goat Knives, electrical work, family, and still finding a way to put himself on animals year after year — and honestly, the perspective he brings on why we hunt is something I greatly respect.Learn more about GOHUNT.Follow Brady on Instagram.Follow GOHUNT on Social Media:InstagramYouTube - Podcast ChannelYouTube - Main ChannelFacebook

Diving into the delightful chaos of kitchen design, Eric G and John Dudley unpack the top 10 blunders that would-be remodelers often make. This episode is like your favorite recipe—one part expertise, a sprinkle of humor, and a dash of 'Oh no, don't do that!' From the frustration of outdated designs that scream 1980s to the perils of mismatched appliances that look like they were picked from different stores on Black Friday, this duo is here to save you from costly mistakes. They argue passionately against the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality that leads many to replicate their old kitchen's blunders. Seriously, if your design includes a microwave cart from yesteryear, it's time for a rethink! As the banter flows, Eric and John highlight the importance of hiring a certified kitchen designer. They share anecdotes that make you chuckle while also making you ponder, “Am I really prepared for this remodel?” The guys emphasize that while DIY is all the rage, sometimes you need a professional to avoid turning your kitchen into a jigsaw puzzle. With a blend of insightful advice and lighthearted back-and-forth, they make the daunting task of kitchen remodeling feel approachable—and dare I say, fun! By the end of this episode, you'll be ready to tackle your kitchen design with a newfound sense of confidence, armed with the knowledge of what pitfalls to avoid like the plague!Takeaways:Avoid copying outdated kitchen designs from decades ago, as they often lack modern functionality.Mixing different brands of appliances can lead to mismatched aesthetics and frustrations in the kitchen. Not hiring a professional kitchen designer can result in costly mistakes that are difficult to fix later.Using inexpensive cabinet hardware can lead to future headaches and replacements, so invest wisely.Underestimating the importance of a properly sized vent hood can affect air quality and kitchen cleanliness.Assuming open concept kitchens fit all lifestyles can lead to chaotic entertaining and messy clean-ups.Links referenced in this episode:aroundthehouseonline.comCompanies mentioned in this episode:Eagle HardwareGESamsungLGSur La TableWilliams SonomaThanks for listening to Around the house if you want to hear more please subscribe so you get notified of the latest episode as it posts at https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/listenIf you want to join the Around the House Insider for access to the back catalog, Exclusive Content and a direct email to Eric G and access to the show early https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/support We love comments and we would love reviews on how this information has helped you on your house! Welcome back to the WhitetailDNA Podcast! On today's episode, we are joined by Brian Dombrowski to break down what it really takes to find buck bucks on public land through year-round scouting. Brian resides in Wisconsin and is a seasoned bowhunter with a wealth of knowledge and experience tracking down big bucks on public land. Brian dives into his detailed scouting methodology, explaining how having a plan and becoming efficient can make all the difference. He shares why logging more hours scouting often pays off far more than time spent sitting in the stand, and how honing in on big buck sign can help you zero in on a specific deer. The conversation also explores the importance of embracing hunting pressure rather than avoiding it, scouting for smart access routes, and pushing the limits to get it done. Brian touches on lessons learned from out-of-state hunts and wraps things up with an honest look at how Wisconsin is shaping up as a destination for deer hunting opportunities. Not every habitat improvement actually helps you hold mature bucks. Some changes matter a lot more than others. In this episode of Farm Companion, Jared and Jeremy walk through the farm work that actually moves the needle — from cutting timber and creating better edge habitat to planting screening, food plot strategy, improving access, and scouting the property during the offseason. These small changes can completely transform how deer use a hunting farm. The work happening right now is what sets the stage for fall. Timber Management is Key to Gain Big Bucks and Equity | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 462 In Part Three of our special Cultivating Value series, powered by Buck Land Funding. Matt Drury and Tim Kjellesvik are joined by professional logger and Whitetail Edge founder Ben Rising to reveal how your property's timber acts as a "hidden bank account". This episode pulls back the curtain on the timber industry, explaining why Walnut is King and how to identify trees that can be worth upwards of $10,000. Ben explains the critical differences between stump bidding and percentage logging, providing expert advice on how landowners can ensure they aren't leaving money on the table when managing their woods. Whether you are a land flipper looking to offset your initial purchase or a long-term owner managing a legacy property, Ben's 25 years of experience provides the ultimate guide for turning standing timber into true land equity. The conversation moves from the wallet to the woods as Ben explains how strategic timber management creates what he calls "hotel rooms" for mature bucks. We dive into why summer logging with full foliage can provide instant bedding cover and nutritious browse that attracts deer immediately. From the debate over cedars as thermal cover to the best ways to vet a reputable logger, this episode is a masterclass in forestry for the modern hunter. Big bucks don't just leave by accident. In this episode, Brett Smith of Whitetail Land Management Services breaks down why mature deer won't stay on most properties—and what he's seen consistently work across hundreds of whitetail farms. From food and cover to pressure, access, and modern technology, we talk about the mistakes landowners keep making and why some farms quietly produce year after year while others don't. This conversation is about real-world experience, not theory—and what actually matters if your goal is holding mature bucks long term. DC Tabbscott has mastered the art of getting permission to hunt from landowners. His system works so well, that he was able to get permission to hunt a property to hunt a 170" Alabama buck, which he ended up tagging this past season! This buck was well known in the area and DC was able to get permission to hunt property that many other hunters had been denied permission to hunt. In this episode we do a deep dive into what it takes to get landowner permission to hunt, whether it is a small property that the owner lives on, a larger property with an absenttee landowner, or even lands owned by LLC's or corperations. DC breaks down why people fail at getting permission and shares the system that has become extremely effective for him. We also cover the incredible story of his Alabama giant and how the hunt went down, from losing access to the property he thought he would tag it on, to encounters with police & more!
