Send us a textTurkey hunting delivers heart-pounding excitement and crushing frustration in equal measure, as four rookie hunters discovered during their first-ever season in New Brunswick, Canada. Drawing one of just 500 available tags feels like winning the lottery, but that's only the beginning of the adventure."They're stupid, but they're smart," becomes the group's mantra as they navigate the complexities of pursuing these wild birds with remarkable eyesight and hearing abilities. When Lane watches a turkey spot his movement from 400 yards away despite perfect camouflage, the challenge becomes crystal clear. These birds demand respect. The podcast captures raw, authentic first-timer experiences - from sleeping through alarms on opening morning to the absolute thrill of a gobbling tom responding to calls. Lane and Brody's success comes unexpectedly when they're so focused on calling a distant turkey that they miss another bird sneaking in just 10 yards away. Meanwhile, Ken and Kyle's persistence pays off after multiple failed attempts and a steep learning curve with calling techniques. The hunters detail their equipment choices, calling strategies, and decoy setups with candid assessments of what worked and what didn't. Their debates about jake versus hen decoys, mouth calls versus slate calls, and the best positioning strategies provide valuable insights for anyone planning their own turkey hunt.Beyond the tactics, it's the emotional journey that resonates - the frustration of busted stalks, the comedy of rookie mistakes, and the pure adrenaline rush when birds finally respond to calls. The hunters' enthusiasm is contagious as they describe watching toms strut toward their decoys, creating moments of hunting magic they'll never forget.Ready to test your skills against one of hunting's most challenging and interactive pursuits? On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce sits down with Drew Schleim, host of The Predator Podcast, to recap a rollercoaster of a turkey season, and share some of the lessons learned from the past few weeks! The guys start their conversation at the start of Wisconsin's 4th turkey period, where Drew helped a hunter tag her first Wisconsin longbeard in over a decade, and managed to double up with a buddy to kick off the week. Meanwhile, Pierce was struggling after missing a layup shot on a bird, having a freaky mishap with the .410, and bumping birds all over the county before spreading his bad luck to Drew and his buddies, and eventually sealing the deal back at the home farm right at fly down. They discuss how their tactics changed throughout the season, lessons learned from this year, and what you folks should be doing to punch that late season turkey tag in these final days of the season. All that and more in this week's episode! Morgan and Izaak talk turkey at the half way point through the season
In this episode of the Antler Up Podcast, I sit down to unpack an unforgettable turkey season filled with early mornings, missed opportunities, and memorable highs. From dealing with travel logistics and licensing hiccups to embracing the physical and mental grind of multi-state hunts, this episode dives deep into the real, unfiltered experiences that define spring turkey season. Beyond the hunt itself, we talk about gear setups like the M2 Turkey Vest, prepping for taxidermy, and why tailgate burgers taste best after a hard-earned success. In this episode, Caleb Siman takes us deep into the 2025 Ohio spring turkey season — and the obsession that's taken over his woods. 11 times he's been face-to-face with the same stubborn gobbler, but the perfect shot on camera continues to slip away. From early morning setups to heart-pounding close calls, Caleb walks us through the highs, frustrations, and pure grit it takes to chase one bird across an entire season. Let's be honest — post a big buck, and the likes roll in. Post a strutting longbeard? Crickets. In this episode, Caleb & Isaac also dive into the weird reality of turkey hunting content on social media. Despite the challenge, the calling, and the chess match of spring gobblers, turkey season just doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves online. Is it the lack of antlers? The short attention span of the algorithm? Or is turkey hunting just for the diehards now? They break it all down — the passion, the frustration, and why he keeps chasing longbeards even when nobody seems to care.

On this episode of Michigan Wild, Nate and Robert McIntyre dive into a conversation recapping Robert's whitetail season and his first couple days of Turkey season. Robert finished his past fall punching his 3rd and final tag on an out of state buck with his bow. That marked 3 straight years tagging a late season buck with his bow. The season was a grind, but going back to his roots was key to his success. Like chasing whitetails, turkey hunting is another passion for Robert and this season was no different. He had a wild opening day filled with birds and drama. That did not deter him and that persistence was awarded the following morning when he unexpectedly doubled up. Wrapping up the episode some turkey gear is discussed. The guys talk about the gear used and some recommendations for the newer hunter. Both guys agree that you can get into turkey hunting on an affordable budget and can have a fun successful hunt with limited equipment. Thank you for listening to the episode!
