https://theinfatuation.com https://instagram.com/infatuation Since its inception in 2009, Stang has been the architect of The Infatuation’s editorial voice, creative vision, and marketing strategy. Today his role still encompasses all of those things, but also includes pushing the company forward into new arenas, including the creation and launch of Text Rex, EEEEEATSCON, The Infatuation’s food festival, and the company’s recent acquisition of Zagat. He was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2015 for Underfinger, a review of a restaurant that doesn’t exist, and he still writes from time to time about real restaurants. Prior to taking on The Infatuation full time, Stang was the VP of Marketing at Atlantic Records, working closely with many of the label’s biggest acts including Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Skrillex, Gnarls Barkley, and Panic! At The Disco. https://instagram.com/houseofstang In his current role, Andrew leads the company's sales and partnerships team, using his skill set as a former music business publicist to build deep, meaningful relationships with like-minded brands such as American Express, Nike, Lyft, Anheuser-Busch, BMW, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Microsoft, Postmates, Mars and more. Under Andrew’s leadership, the company has developed a unique approach for brands to connect with community through food and culture. Whether it’s through relatable content across multiple platforms or live experiences around the world, brand partners of The Infatuation have seen tremendous success with the company’s growing audience of more than 5 million+ monthly users. Prior to going full time Infatuation in 2014, Steinthal was a Vice President of PR at Warner Bros. Records https://instagram.com/schmooey

We'd rate this one 5 stars: on this episode we're sitting down with the authentic, creative, and hysterical founders of The Infatuation, Chris Stang and Andrew Steinthal, for a masterclass on entrepreneurship. We learn what it takes to build a business like theirs, how they decided to become co-founders, and what growth looks like while staying true to your mission and values. The duo shares why they're becoming known in the ad industry more for the things they won't do, what it means to have good taste, how they got lucky and why they think they'll become the default for restaurant recommendations (and more?). Plus, the latest on EEEEEATSCON (LA, May 18-19) and developing their first original podcast. This episode also marks a defining moment for the show - it's our last episode produced by our friends at Megaphone, fka Panoply. We're indebted to Jacob Weisberg, Matt Turck and Andy Bowers for giving us the opportunity to create this show and give a voice to a like-minded (advertising) community of practitioners who are also innovators, thought leaders, creators, disruptors, and more. Thank you to our Panoply colleagues and producers Laura Mayer, Cameron Drews, Laura Morris & Dana Bialek (dana.bialek@gmail.com) who helped us execute our vision. And a huge thanks to you, our listeners, who have urged us on (and the ad industry!) while joining in on the head nods and wtf's. While this is our last episode at Panoply, it is the beginning of what's next for ADLANDIA. Stay tuned to our Twitter account, @adlandiapodcast, for updates on what we're up to and where we're headed.  We'll talk to you soon, ADLANDIA. - L & A

Ep. 189 - The Infatuation has become an influential food voice over the past few years, thanks in large part to their widely used #EEEEEATS hashtag on Instagram. But what few of their fans realize is, just like Zach, their founders got their start in the music industry. Andrew Steinthal and Chris Stang created The Infatuation while working at major record labels in New York. In fact they're responsible for getting us our very first podcast guest- Mike D from the Beastie Boys. We talk to them about that, plus have them recount the story of the creation of Infatuation and find out what lessons they learned from the music business that they translated to the food business. And then, of course, at the end we ask them for Instagram tips. This episode was recorded live @ SxSw in front of small audience as part of Southbites.

Snacky Tunes is back this week as Darin Bresnitz and Greg Bresnitz feature the first west coast food segment with Andrew Steinthal and Chris Stang, founders of The Infatuation. Launching in 2009, The Infatuation sought to bring a fresh voice to the world of restaurant reviewing where the regular, not super foodie people could turn to for honest and delicious opinions. Sharing how they initially met on the set of MTV’s TRL and eventually transitioned from the music industry to the food world, The Infatuation has become a successful app with branches in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Denver and now, Los Angeles. In the second half of the show, Greg welcomes musical guest WALTZ to the studio. Tune in for great live performances and catch WALTZ at Rough Trade on August 12! This program was brought to you by Edwards VA Ham. “I think it’s a similar craft almost; people who care about what they eat care about what they listen to.” [8:17] —Andrew Steinthal on Snacky Tunes “That was what we started to think through – the why’s of people going to restaurants – and often it’s a lot more than, ‘I love to eat great food.'”[12:03] —Chris Stang on Snacky Tunes
