On Episode 64 of the I'm Peaking Podcast, we sat down with the bass monkey himself — Tate Warner (aka GorillaT)! We kicked things off by trying to explain bass music to someone who's never heard it (harder than it sounds). GorillaT shared how his parents hated dubstep at first, but now they're full-on fans. We also heard about his wild Denny's popup show, Illenium's surprise set at a theme park, and how GorillaT would've basically been on track to become an Olympic swimmer before pivoting to music (seriously, what CAN'T this guy do?). He even showed us an unreleased track with Liquid Stranger and dropped a ridiculous remix of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy"-- both melted our brains. Oh, and we dug into why Denver is considered the bass capital, talked about the rise of all these strange bass subgenres, and chatted about GRIZ's RETURN! If you love the bass, this episode is for you

Pour les nouveautés, FKA Twigs prépare "EUSEXUA" tandis que The Horrors s'apprêtent à sortir "Night Life". +++ PLAYLIST +++ · 22:56 – 2468 von HORSEGIRL · 22:51 – YOU GOT ME SEARCHING von JACK WHITE · 22:46 – STAY HERE von FORT ROMEAU & GOLD PANDA · 22:42 – CASPIAN TIGER von BEIRUT · 22:38 – GETTING REMINDERS von EFTERKLANG FEAT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIszb9nh3r4https://open.spotify.com/artist/64kjTvGmTTpYpoSX0uNJ6QRapper Jesse Medina continues to pour his heart and soul into his music, putting out hard-hitting tracks. The most recent is “No Ma'am” off an upcoming EP titled Extrasensory Modes ofPerception.“No Ma'am” features Medina's boy Q-Timer, who he has been playing music with for years. They wrote the song together and put it to a beat by producer Barry Bones, who they bothworked with on Medina's recent track “In My Head.”While his first single was more about using trippy poetry describing the world of drug psychosis, this one is a little more fun and playful with a focus on “chillin' with his homies.”“We went over to Barry's lab and did it over his beat,” Medina said. “It was based off the show‘Married With Children' and Al Bundy's little crew of homies. You know, it's about looking out foryour bro, having guy time and just kind of talking shit.”Medina admits there is some randomness to the song, and he and Q-Timer are just “spittin'.”The inspiration for the bars kind of just came out of thin air.“It's really about the brotherhood,” Medina said. “It is kind of the camaraderie between me andQ-Timer. It's about sticking with your boys. You know, there are people in relationships, but youcan go out and kick it with your homies. I like the word play and like the beat a lot, and the hookis hella dope to me. That kind of sums it up.”Medina said the bars and the beat carry the lyrical flow. The beat has an element of intrigue to itbefore the lyrics kick in.Here they comeAll my gunsMy day onesLike when you see me runThe story behind the beat is an interesting one. Jesse said there was initially another beat that“No Ma'am” was written to. Somehow it went missing, and no matter how hard they looked, theysimply couldn't find it. Sometimes that is just the way things go, and resiliency is key. While itthrew them off at first, Medina, Q-Timer and Barry Bones started from square one and put outsomething to be proud of.“Q found this beat and it was sounding hard,” Jesse said. “When I heard it, I knew it was a hellasick beat. I love it, man. It's beyond what I wanted it to be. This beat changed the delivery andmade it something else.”He has heard solid feedback from his fans about his last track, “In My Head,” and with “NoMa'am” that praise has only continued and increased. He said this is one for the friends andfans alike.“This is for the hip-hop heads.”Extrasensory Modes of Perception has nine tracks and will be released next month. It is a mix ofdifferent styles of hip-hop. Jesse said it is beyond labeling in a genre. Each track differs from thenext and will keep the listeners on their toes and on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Whilethere is a sense of randomness, he said there is also a method to the madness.“If I hear something in my head, I'm just going to execute it, and there's no telling what kind ofmusic will come from it,” he said. “I'm looking at the challenge and having fun with it every time. But there is a theme — you can hear the hip-hop influences no matter what song it is.”Jesse was born and raised in San Jose, and music is simply a massive part of his life. When hehears music, lyrics will just flow through him, but sometimes he takes his time to make sureeverything is perfect. Medina thrives off using straight emotion with the beat.He has influences that date back to music his mother would play like Prince, Rick James andthe Isley Brothers. Some of his current inspirations include groups like the Gorillaz, FreestyleFellowship, TDE, Gnarls Barkley, Deftones, Chelsea Grin and Portishead. When he was just 10 years old, he started writing music. Through life experiences and hisinspirations, he has been able to create his own personal sound and touch.Jesse is always working. His current projects are a three-song EP, called This Way Westward,as well as an EP with unreleased songs called Nostalgia Nuggets.“No Ma'am” is available on all platforms, and Extrasensory Modes of Perception is scheduledfor an August 3 release.Be sure to follow Jesse Medina's musical journey on all platforms.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

At that time, she got her first agent and began booking various jobs in plays, movies, commercials, and modeling. She also started singing in underground bands. Being an adrenaline junkie, she found herself making extra money as an amateur boxer which later on helped her book movies like "The Car," a remake by Universal Pictures, and the franchise "DOOM" movie also with Universal Pictures. Her other work includes the starring role of Marie in "Hell Hath No Fury," a Jesse V Johnson movie, playing a French resistance fighter, and she played the lead role of "GG," who was based on a 90s goth singer in the film "Carpe Noctem," which was directed by Gene Blalock. A passion for the stage drew her back to her roots as she performed in various plays such as "The Cherry Orchard" with A Noise Within, and her favorite, the portrayal of Marlene Dietrich in "Garbo's Cuban Lover" with the Macha Theatre. Her theatrical agent introduced her to Paul Anka, who shortly after began managing her music career and helped her sign a six-album contract with Warner Bros. Record by their President Rob Cavallo. They called her new solo project "N.I.N.A." which led to her last band, "Letters From The Fire." Nina worked on soundtracks for Lionsgate Films, singing the theme song for "Catacombs," "Repo the Genetic Opera," and "Sharknado". She sang the end title song in "Black Limousine" and was the voice on the soundtrack for "All About Her." Additionally, she performed live for the World Series and the NCAA College Football Season. Multi-platinum group IL DIVO, who just released their new “XX:  20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” which just hit the Billboard charts at #1 in Classical Crossover Albums, #1 in Classical Albums and Top 40 of Current Album Sales.  The album is also available as the first-ever vinyl edition of their career, with commemorative and collectable packages of “XX:  20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” available at www.ildivo.com.    The iconic quartet—Urs Bühler (tenor) of Switzerland, Sébastien Izambard (tenor) of France, David Miller (tenor) of America, and new member Steven LaBrie (baritone) of America—uphold the spirit of their signature sound while expanding its scope on their 10th full-length and very first independent album on Il Divo Music/Thirty Tigers. Produced by Grammy® and Latin Grammy® Award-winning artist Carlos Fernando Lopez (Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, Marc Anthony), “XX:  20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” includes songs sung by IL DIVO in English, Spanish and Italian; and an original composition written by the group, “Despertar Sin Ti.”  In addition to the IL DIVO spin on Gnarls Barkley's “Crazy,” the album will also include Whitney Houston's “I Have Nothing,” with a Spanish version, “No Tengo Nada,”; Miguel Gallardo's “Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti,”;  Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley's “Always On My Mind,” sung in English and Italian; Ed Sheeran's smash hit “Perfect”;  “Despacito,” the mega-smash by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber, and more. Since 2004, the Multi-Platinum classical crossover progenitors have emerged as a phenomenon buoyed by displays of vocal prowess, gigs around the world, and an indefinable magic between them. They have sold 30 million-plus units worldwide, scored 50 #1 hits, and earned 160 Gold and Platinum records across 35 countries. Between selling out tours on multiple continents, they've performed everywhere from the Summer Olympics and FIFA World Cup to Diamond Jubilee at Windsor and the Commander-in-Chief's Ball. Life changed when the guys weathered the tragic passing of original co-founder Carlos Marín due to COVID-19. The remaining bandmates paid homage to their fallen brother with the Greatest Hits Tour in 2022. Steven LaBrie stepped in as a guest baritone on the road only for Urs, Sébastien, and David to welcome him as a full member a year later. Around the same time, they entered a studio in Coconut Grove, FL with producer Carlos Fernando Lopez. This new season represents a series of firsts:  their first album with Steven, and also the first for their own label Il Divo Music with the members serving as Executive Producers and Sébastien as Co-Arranger.  For more information on IL DIVO, please visit:  https://ildivo.com/ PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE! Imagine your mine as an app and your brain as the hardware/computer. Can you use your mind as one would use an app: engaging and disengaging it at will, and exiting out of it when done? Think of the mind's internal monologue to an app running in the background of your cellphone that drains the device's battery. The continuous, often uncontrollable internal dialogue can lead to mental strain and exhaustion. Just as background apps consume power even when you're not actively using them, the constant chatter of your mind can sap your mental energy without your conscious realization. This internal dialogue can range from worries about the future, replaying past events, to self-talk about current situations. Conscious control and intentional engagement/disengagement from the mind can prevent exhaustion. Joli encourages users to practice the mental discipline of redirecting attention away from this internal noise to the immediate present, deliberately using the mind as a tool rather than a source of distraction. The aim is to utilize the mind actively and purposefully, rather than allowing it to become a source of interference that pulls us away from the present moment. The concept of an Associative Model of the Universe, is also discussed. This model suggests a view where our universe isn't strictly governed by linear causality (where Effects directly follow Causes in a straightforward sequence.) Instead, it proposes that the universe operates through a network of interconnected occurrences, where events are linked not just by cause-and-effect relationships but by associations that might not be linear or direct. This model implies that events in the universe can be related in various ways that go beyond simple causality. These connections might be based on similarities, synchronicities, or patterns that don't necessarily adhere to the traditional understanding of time and causation. In such a model, understanding the universe requires looking at the bigger picture of how things are related, rather than just tracing direct lines of cause and effect. This lends itself to a discussion on deterministic physics and philosophical occasionalism, as well as the implications of this perspective on personal autonomy, mental health, and societal behavior. If every decision or action is the result of a chain of events set in motion by past events, there isn't much we do control. This acceptance could lead to peace through surrendering to the flow of life, reducing anxiety over making “wrong” choices, and fostering a deeper connection to the universe or divinity, (depending on one's perspective.) Lastly, Joli reflects on a social media post that resonated with her, tying in themes of mental liberation, societal norms, and the nature of sanity. She concludes with personal insights and interpretations of the song "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, questioning the societal norms that define sanity and celebrating the freedom found in embracing one's uniqueness, even if it leads others to question your sanity. Girl Ray - “Everybody's Saying That” from the 2023 album Prestige on Moshi Moshi London trio Girl Ray turn the beat around on today's Song of the Day with a dance-inspired track produced by Ben H. Allen, who's previously worked with Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, and Cut Copy, to name a very few. “The lyrics on this single were inspired by the straight-to-the-heart simplicity of the disco greats," vocalist/guitarist Poppy Hankin shared in a press release. "I wrote it while missing my partner while on tour in 2020, and it plays on themes of new love and self-doubt. Musically we took reference from the nu-disco resurgence that seemed to be taking off in 2020, in particular from the likes of Kylie Minogue (Disco), Jessie Ware (What's Your Pleasure?), Dua Lipa (Future Nostalgia), and Róisín Murphy (Róisín Machine). We were really inspired by all of these women re-imagining disco.” Read the full story at KEXP.orgSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 31 is back after being banned from all streaming platforms. New (the same) and improved (still mid) with certain sonic elements removed (as to not get sued). It's time to find out which LPs and/or 12” singles filed under the letter “G” from Jay & Deon's collections they love most, then rap about the bands behind the vinyl. GO! -- In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For the past half century, countless artists and professionals across the globe have benefited from utilizing the oblique strategies technique when attempting to overcome a lull in creative output. In 2024, idiotic, introverted one-time award-winning* hobby podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential themes of their upcoming thirty-first episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they have a reasonably good solid grasp of the alphabet and how it works. They had previously utilized the letters A thru F, so naturally, they went with G. The “G” mixtape: (A1) Game Theory – Erica's World (A2) Grant Green – We've Only Just Begun (A3) Grazia – Soyle Beni (A4) Goodie Mob – Cell Therapy (A5) Glitterhouse – I Lost me a Friend (B1) Gure featuring Roy Ayers – Take a Look (at Yourself) (B2) Grandaddy – Hewlitt's Daughter (B3) Marvin Gaye – Trouble Man (B4) Guadalcanal Diary – 3 AM (B5) The Goon Sax – Sweaty Hands Sonic contributors to the thirty-first episode of Lightnin' Licks Radio, the letter “G” redux, include: Prince Paul, Brothers Johnson, James Todd Smith, Arc of All and The Source of Light and Power, J. Geils Band, Geto Boys, The Goon Sax, The Go-Betweens, Guadalcanal Diaries, Let's Active, Guru, Roy Ayers, Gangstarr, Donald Byrd, DJ Premier, MC Solar, Game Theory, Loud Family, Goodie Mob, Cee-lo Green, Dungeon Family, Gnarls Barkley, Grandaddy, Jason Lytle, Mercury Rev, All Smiles, Grant Green, Rudy VanGelder, The Carpenters, Glitterhouse, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Young-Holt Unlimited, Grazia, Marco Bachir, also Bachir Attar with Elliot Sharp, Cervo, Radio Trip, Jimmy Buffet, and The Clockers.  *2023 Review magazine readers' choice; best live streaming production   --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/llradio/message

We never sleep, we can never die. Bill has Captain Trips, cuz why not, so Doug recorded an episode with him and him only. So we woke up at 1 in the morning to record this. He does this because he cares. He cares so much that he pays tribute to the late Lanny Poffo, shares private conversations he has with Bill, talks about sneaking off to desert, previewing both Night of the Champions & Double Or Nothing, and of course covering the upcoming shows of Lucha Libre and Laughs, Colorado Wrestling Connection, Colorado Springs Wrestling, Primos, and Rocky Mountain Pro. We never sleep, we can never die. I'm sorry.  Oh Doug also wrote a very thoughtful piece on New Era Wrestling. He started on sax at age 10, playing Beatles and Stones covers in a school band, then became obsessed with jazz theory as a teenager, tracing how jazz harmony flows through other musical styles. Sax playing eventually took a backseat to studying and practicing medicine, but he has passed his love of music on to his kids.
