The chronology takes us to 1994 in this episode during a time where there were no act in the world bigger than Pearl Jam... outside of maybe Ace Of Base. Coming off of the release of Vs., the band continued to struggle with their rising stardom. Tickets for their shows were in such high demand, yet the band wasn't quite ready to take on bigger venues to hold the capacity crowds that wanted to experience them. This episode focuses on a show from Miami where the capacity issues reach a boiling point and led to fences being broken down, fans rushing the stage and arrests being made. For an 8,000 seat venue, an alleged 24,000 got through to see the show. On top of that, the band was unhappy because the venue featured corporate sponsorship signs that they demanded be covered up. It took the band an hour before they took the stage, which could have added to some of the commotion going on outside the gates, but when they started playing, you could sense a real anger and frustration in their tone. There's a moment where they needed to have a fan kicked out for being too dangerous in the pit. That emotion is what motivated them throughout the night as songs like Blood, Deep, Porch, Not For You and State Of Love And Trust brought intensity to what was already a tumultuous evening. Concerts and sporting events cost a fortune these days and Congress is taking notice. A hearing before the Senate took place to find a solution for the decades old problem that seems to be getting worse with junk fees, scalpers and resale bots. Representing artists is MAGA-friendly Kid Rock, who has been urging Congress and other federal regulators to crack down on ticketing abuses after standing with President Trump during last year's enforcement push. Also testifying is 'Live Nation' executive Dan Wall, who has been under heavy scrutiny as they are facing a major antitrust lawsuit filed by the DOJ. But according to drummer Rikki Rockett, the plans fell apart at the negotiating table.The sticking point? Money. Rockett revealed that while he, guitarist C.C. DeVille, and bassist Bobby Dall were all ready to sign, Michaels demanded a much bigger slice of the pie. Specifically, Rockett claims Michaels wanted about 600% more than the rest of the band—essentially $6 for every $1 the others would make."You just can't work that way," Rockett said. He explained that while he loves playing, he doesn't want to work hard just to make someone else rich while he gets a fraction of the pay.Is there bad blood? Surprisingly, Rockett says no. He compared the situation to family, saying, "It's like hating your parents." He insists he isn't fighting with Michaels, they just couldn't agree on the business side of things.When asked if the band would consider touring with a replacement singer, Rockett shut it down, calling that a "last resort" and insisting there is no better frontman for Poison than Michaels.What now? For now, everyone is doing their own thing.
