I podcast, therefore I am. Or is it, "I podcast, therefore I philosophize?" If you've listened to some of our recent episodes, you might think it's the latter as recently we're delved into topics like free will and pondered whether there's an objective morality beyond things that we might be programmed with, like societal norms or the Three Laws of Robotics. Well, if you like that stuff, you'll love this episode! There's a new book out called Asimov's Foundation and Philosophy (AF&P), a collection of essays about... well, you've figured that out, right? Remember books, by the way? They're weird. You can read them, but they don't have batteries and they're made of wood of all things! We discuss this book with three of the authors who are simultaneously two-and-a-half special guests! Josef Simpson is one of the editors of AF&P and helped bring the book to life. He also wrote "A Foundation-al Lesson on Free Will and Determinism" for the project. Our second guest is long-time friend of the show, Cora Buhlert! Cora was our first guest way back in Season 1 Episode 7. She now becomes our first returning guest and the first Hugo Winner to appear on our show as she was chosen the Best Fan Writer for 2022! Congratulations, Cora! Cora contributed "Between Cynicism and Faith" fo AF&P. The book also contains a chapter by our very own Dan Fried, "The Dao of Psychohistory!" Thus, Dan is our one-half of a special guest as he splits his duties between interviewer and interviewee! So if our excursions into philosopy have wheted your appitite for such things, pick up a copy of Asimov's Foundation and Philosophy. You're sure to enjoy it! And if you want to read the book without harming a trees, or through inaction allowing a tree to come to harm, here's one one option.

Welcome! Pull up a chair and listen to your favourite Castologists recommending their favourite podcasts. This week Patrick brings Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank, Zane goes fictiony with Starship Sofa and Liz jumps on what's sure to be the next true crime podcast hit Jensen & Holes: The Murder Squad.Liz Recommends - Jensen & Holes: The Murder Squadhttp://themurdersquad.com/GUYS! Billy Jensen and Paul Holes have a podcast! If you don't know who the hell Liz is talking about then you're obviously not a Murderino. Paul Holes is a retired detective who helped solve the Golden State Killer case and Billy Jensen is the kickass investigative journalist who helped finish Michelle McNamara's book on the case (I'll Be Gone In The Dark) and now works as a police consultant. The first new podcast on Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark's Exactly Right network, this is the podcast that invites YOU to help solve their cold cases. It's ARMCHAIR DETECTIVE TIME."Each week ride shotgun with retired cold case investigator Paul Holes and investigative journalist Billy Jensen as they attempt to solve an unsolved murder case using a variety of methods, from routine shoe-leather work to advanced technologies like familial DNA searches and social media geotargeting. But their secret weapon in the search for justice is staring right at these notes. You have been watching and listening to stories about violent crimes and investigations for years. Now is the time to put all of that knowledge and wits to good use to actually help solve a crime. Welcome to the Murder Squad."For both: Listen from the start, there are only a handful of eps out.Link https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/jensen-and-holes-the-murder-squad/id1455668750Pat Recommends - Ari Shaffir's Skeptic TankAri Shaffir. Comedian. Writer. Actor. Producer. Podcaster. Jew. Ari is one of my favourite comedians right now. His iconoclastic and unrelenting style of comedy is one I certainly appreciate. His podcast often opens with an introduction from Ari followed by a laid back chat with his guest. Every now and then you'll come across a solo podcast or a panel discussion. For Zane & Liz: #277 Henry Rollins, if you want more I really liked #350 Shooter.http://arithegreat.com/category/podcast/Zane Recommends - Starship Sofahttp://www.starshipsofa.com/Zane has brought in one of his old favourites this week, an audio fiction podcast! Hosted by the INIMITABLE accent of Tony C Smith, Starship Sofa is an audio magazine style show, similar in style to some of the great SF print magazines out there like Asimovs and Analog. A typical show includes poetry, flash fiction, fact article, reviews and main fiction. It’s produced by many and put together by one. Writers who have had there work narrated on the podcast include Michael Moorcock, Joe Haldeman, Bruce Sterling, David Brin, Harry Harrison, Ted Chiang, George R. R. Martin, William Gibson, and many many more. For Pat: AnyFor Liz: Anyhttp://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=166360307Subscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, RADIOPUBLIC or your podcatcher of choice.Find us on FACEBOOK, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM.

A good tour van is the glue that holds a band together. In "Our Lady of the Open Road" Sarah Pinsker takes a look at one band's journey through a near future where music fans seem more interested in holographic concerts than the real deal. Today on the 5: As part of my experimentation with periodicals, I subscribed to Asimov's Science Fiction. So far I'm liking it!
Three laws of Robotics” inspirator for mange virkelige robotforskere.
