How can architecture firms move beyond the traditional consultant model to foster truly deep, interdisciplinary collaboration? This week, we welcome Ximena Valle, founder of the Philadelphia-based architecture firm FIFTEEN, and one of her longtime collaborators, Mikael Avery. Ximena founded FIFTEEN to address the gaps she observed in the profession, from talent leaving the industry to a disconnect between designers and end-users. Inspired by her experience on a multi-disciplinary archaeological dig where geologists, mythologists, and chemists worked together to solve a complex problem, she built her firm around a "Collaborator Network."This intentional shift in language, from "consultant" to "collaborator", reflects a profound difference in process. Mikael Avery, whose background spans architecture, landscape architecture, and occupational therapy, is a prime example of the unique expertise FIFTEEN brings to the table. Collaborators are not just brought in for a "nugget of information"; they are integrated into the team from the earliest visioning sessions, contributing to a holistic process where the solution emerges from the group dynamic.Ximena and Mikael share how this model has transformed projects, turning a public space design into a community incubator for startups and workforce development, and evolving a healthcare facility presentation into a fully experiential workshop co-designed with the client. They also discuss the practical challenges of this approach, from creating new financial models to educating clients on the value of a truly integrated team. “The more voices we can get in the room that will misinterpret what we say, if you will, the more opportunities we have to have these ideas bubble up. That is the most exciting part about design… when it doesn't come from one person, but it comes from the conversation around something. And then all of a sudden, wait, that's actually the answer right there. It didn't come from me. It didn't come from you. It came from the process.” - Mikael AveryThis episode concludes with a reminder that meaningful innovation in architecture doesn't come from sticking to traditional roles, it comes from rethinking the process entirely. Ximena and Mikael leave us with a clear call to action: open the door, invite in new voices, and trust the collaborative process. Whether you're leading a firm or just starting out, the future of design lies in embracing complexity together.Guests:Ximena Valle is the founder of Fifteen, a Philadelphia-based architecture firm that is redefining collaboration in practice. She founded the firm to address what she saw as critical gaps in the profession, building a new practice model centered on integrating diverse, interdisciplinary expertise into the core design process.Mikael Avery is a designer, educator, and healthcare professional working at the intersection of architecture, product design, and health. He is a longtime collaborator with Fifteen, and also teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and brings a human-centered perspective to projects ranging from healthcare environments to medical device design. Is This Episode for You?This episode is for you if:✅ You are interested in new, more inclusive models of collaboration in architecture.✅ You are a firm leader looking for ways to integrate expertise from outside the traditional AEC industry.✅ You want to learn how to better advocate for the value of a truly interdisciplinary design process with clients.✅ You are a professional with a non-traditional background who wants to engage with architectural projects in a meaningful way.✅ You want practical advice on how to foster a culture where the best ideas can come from anyone in the room. What have you done to take action lately? On this episode, Mary Caffrey, Executive Editor of AJMC and Evidence-Based Oncology (EBO), is joined by Joseph Mikhael, MD, MEd, FRCPC, FACP, FASCO Chief Medical Officer of the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), was the primary interviewee and source for a recent EBO article. His insights in that piece highlight how the IMF's M-Power initiative builds trust and awareness through its 3-pillar approach: community engagement, primary care education, and improving care for patients. During the discussion, Mikael talks about how IMF's M-Power initiative is expanding with the organization's medical student scholars program, using patient narratives to encourage trial participation among Black patients, and navigating today's political climate around diversity, equity, and inclusion—all while pushing toward a future where lifesaving treatments and cures reach every patient who needs them. Stay tuned for this enlightening discussion on bridging the clinical trial gap.
In a very special episode of the Film Stories podcast, Simon chats to cinematographer and director Mikael Salomon. The pair go through Mikael's extraordinary career, that's taken him from Denmark to Hollywood and back again. And Mikael tells his stories: his early years, how he came to the attention of James Cameron, working on The Abyss, Arachnophobia, Always and more, and then turning to direct (not least with the challenging Hard Rain.) It's a clickbait-free, AI-free conversation, with a filmmaker telling their stories. Please do subscribe and spread the word if you like it! Learn more about your ad choices. This week I'm joined by WILCO's MIKAEL JORGENSON to discuss a film he knows backward and forwards: HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT! But that's not all… I also got to blow his mind with surprise guest JEFF KRULIK--The Co-Creator of HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT!!!We discuss Mikael's endless creativity and how he decides where to put his energy on any given day, the many hours he spent as a teenager making music on his IBM floppy drive computer, doing David Letterman-style comedy audio cassette recordings, how unusual it was to see Mikael with a computer on stage during his first Wilco tour (and how common it is now), how intense it was for him to join an established band like Wilco, tribalism in music scenes, how the documentary is both terrifying and comforting, how shirtless people outnumber people wearing shirts in this film, Mikael's religious upbringing and its impact on his fear of heavy metal, KISS being in children's TV shows, the genesis of Heavy Metal Parking Lot and how the film found an audience due to VHS tape trading culture, a reenactment of Zebraman's anti punk rock tirade, the undying loyalty of metal fans, Neil Diamond Parking Lot & Heavy Metal Picnic, Judas Priest's reaction to the film, Jeff trying to eat Judas Priest's food backstage, Sofia Coppola wanting to use the film in her work, reconnecting with the stars of Heavy Metal Parking Lot decades later and so much more.So let's smoke a joint so big it stretches across America on this week's episode of Revolutions Per Movie!HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT: https://www.heavymetalparkinglot.com/MIKAEL JORGENSON: https://mikaeljorgensen.com/JEFF KRULIK: https://jeffkrulik.com/WILCO: https://wilcoworld.net/REVOLUTIONS PER MOVIE:Host Chris Slusarenko (Eyelids, Guided By Voices, owner of Clinton Street Video rental store) is joined by actors, musicians, comedians, writers & directors who each week pick out their favorite music documentary, musical, music-themed fiction film or music videos to discuss.
I övrigt då?

Dahlia has finally arrived in New Orleans, and she makes her presence known by possessing multiple civilians and giving a taste of her power in a fight at St Anne's. Dahlia's arrival prompts Elijah to have Josephine create a safe house at St James Infirmary for Hayley and Hope. Meanwhile, it encourages Jackson to come up with a stupid plan, which he loops Hayley into. Luckily, double agent Aiden was able to sabotage it quite easily. Meanwhile, Klaus teams up with his former opps Mikael and Davina to hijack Freya's tools for a weapon to kill Dahlia (which Dahlia promptly destroys). But Klaus comes up with a smart backup plan which also accomplishes one of his longtime goals….Remember to rate, review, and share, brothers!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok @doppelgangerspodcast!

.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
With the packs officially unified it is time to put the werewolf army to work! Jackson, Hayley, and Klaus disagree on how and when to use the army, but naturally Klaus's orders win out. Jackson struggles to be a good leader, instead focusing on Hayley, who is clearly focusing on forcing herself into the delusion of being in love with him. Just like with the werewolf army, Jackson is not putting himself in a good situation. Freya teams up with Finn to wake Mikael, who is happy to see the one kid he says he liked. But after the past couple weeks of Finn drama, Freya decides to protect him in an unconventional way. Freya finally gets to meet her other brothers, who unsurprisingly are wary of her trustworthiness. The rest of our team focus on finally answering the question, whose body is Rebekah in? Elijah and Gia meet with a witch matriarch (and familiar face for PLL fans!) while Marcel and Rebekah meet with a witch with the least New Orleans name ever. We end with three couples (only one being good), the starts of a werewolf mutiny, and the return of a child stealing witch, but not the one we have been waiting for.Remember to rate, review, and share, brothers!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok @doppelgangerspodcast!

In today's episode, I'm joined by artist and creative entrepreneur Mikael Brandrup, whose journey took him from corporate graphic design in Denmark to the heart of the global art scene in Los Angeles. We talk about burnout, identity, and how personal evolution led him to create without limits. Mikael shares how meditation and mindset work became his foundation, why he stepped away from a profitable business to follow his instincts, and how he built a career on abstract expression. From brand collaborations with Nike and Bentley to large-scale public art, his story is a rare look at freedom, resilience, and the power of starting with nothing.
In today's episode, I sit down with Mikael Brandrup, a Copenhagen-born artist who left behind the golden handcuffs of corporate design to find freedom through expression. We talk about what happens when your supposed passion starts to drain you, and the difference between building for others versus creating from within. Mikael shares how burnout forced him to reset everything, leading to a risky move to LA, two distinct painting styles, and a mission-driven career that now supports environmental causes and younger artists alike. His journey is emotional, chaotic, and deeply creative—and it all started when he chose to stop following rules and trust his instincts instead.
