What's the most important element of leadership? If you haven't answered this question for yourself it's too easy to get distracted. Leaders are the busiest people on the planet, and it's not realistic to chase every new leadership theory out there. Instead prioritize developing the one that will get you the furthest in your leadership journey and drive your success. You can't be a great leader if you don't have perspective. Being able to look at things from different points of view from your employees, customers, and even your competition is the difference between success and failure. Perspective allows you to make the right decisions and inspire others to trust you. I host Nuno Fernandes, President of American Public University System, where he shares his experience living in 9 different countries and how that has helped shape his ability to lead effectively. American Public University System delivers high quality, affordable and workforce relevant higher education to adult learners of all backgrounds through two different institutions: American Public University and American Military University. They rank in the top 10% for return on educational investment compared to 4,500 colleges and universities nationwide, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce report, https://cew.georgetown.edu/cew-reports/roi2022/ (Ranking 4,500 Colleges by ROI (2022)). APUS ranks as them as the https://www-zdnet-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.zdnet.com/google-amp/education/best-online-colleges-for-working-adults/ (best online college for working adults), according to ZDNet (June 2022). Nuno has a range of leadership and business experience in higher ed and beyond, including as President and CEO of Latin America's largest online program manager (OPM), and one of the top 3 globally in number of managed students, Ilumno. He is motivated by delivering high quality programs and services that will positively impact the lives of students and their communities.

Did we continue lying to ourselves, or did we let someone know or get help? Today we are talking with Erik DaRosa and Marc Fernandes, who have different mental health stories. Still, they both found relief in finding a way through it together. During the peak of the pandemic, they launched the podcast From Survivor to Thriver to help lower the stigma around mental health so everyone can feel they have the confidence to say, “I am not ok.” Key Topics: · The beginning (01:51) · Normalizing Conversations around mental health (07:46) · Dealing with the capacity issue in the system to get treatment (12:40) · What doors did having a podcast open up (17:41) · What advice would you give to open up doors beyond the podcast (21:52) · What makes The Scared Cycle the charity of choice today (28:04) Website link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2043860?fbclid=IwAR3YKNnW-1rGiAQ3Yz6P4iOdoaBOyJY-Ia9FG2NlTLbZ440o-3EUyjuKdKg (From Survivor to Thriver) Podcast Links: · https://www.buzzsprout.com/2043860?fbclid=IwAR3YKNnW-1rGiAQ3Yz6P4iOdoaBOyJY-Ia9FG2NlTLbZ440o-3EUyjuKdKg (Apple) · https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8yMDQzODYwLnJzcw== (Google) · https://open.spotify.com/show/4Ki6AuWRD57kEVcSuFVwQK (Spotify) Charity: https://thesacredcycle.org/ (The Scared Cycle) Donation: Make a https://thesacredcycle.org/donate/ (donation) Social Links · https://www.linkedin.com/company/from-survivor-to-thriver/?viewAsMember=true (LinkedIn) · https://www.facebook.com/brushcreekthrivers/ (Facebook) · https://www.instagram.com/brushcreekthrivers/ (Instagram) Thanks for Listening! The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe farmer Luis Fernandes who heard a buzzing whilst out for a walk. What was it? Bee? Fly? Wasp? Vibrator? Whatever it was, the object was a grower (from Fernandes' perspective). After encountering the object, Fernandes was confronted by some creatures who shined a flashlight at Fernandes. Fernandes, became unwell. Very unwell. What actually happened? Along the way, we ponder how walkie-talkie's were named. But what happened to Donkey? All that and more on this weeks file.
