I børnehaven bliver man sat hen på den grønne bænk, hvis man ikke kan opføre sig ordentligt. Der sidder Rune Glifberg næsten hver eftermiddag, når hans mor kommer og henter ham. Ricordate "La ricreazione è finita", romanzo di successo del 2023? Ora lo scrittore Dario Ferrari è tornato in libreria con "L'idiota di famiglia" (Sellerio). Un romanzo in cui si trovano anche alcuni temi del precedente, come lo sguardo disilluso sulle carriere universitarie, lo stile ironico e tagliente, ma anche la struttura con una storia principale che fa da contenitore a una narrazione di fatti che si ispirano a vicende storiche. L'io narrante è Igor, un traduttore quarantenne quasi costretto a lavorare su libri estremamente commerciali che lui disprezza. È in crisi con la compagna Marta, che avrebbe dovuto avere un incarico da ricercatrice universitaria ma è costretta a cambiare vita, arrivando a pubblicare un libro di successo. Igor lascia Roma e torna a Viareggio perché il padre, un noto professore di storia e filosofia in pensione, è affetto da demenza senile. Igor si sente stretto fra il desiderio atavico di essere apprezzato dal padre, la consapevolezza di essere un po' invidioso del successo della fidanzata, la tensione con la sorella Ester ottimista al limite della superficialità, mentre lui tende al pessimismo e "si cruccia di problemi irrilevanti". Fra le carte del padre, Igor trova la narrazione di un episodio realmente accaduto a Viareggio nel 1920, ossia la creazione per tre giorni di una Repubblica di stampo bolscevico.

"Il fuoco di Venezia" di Giovanni Montanaro (Feltrinelli) racconta oltre cinquant'anni d'amore fra una donna e un uomo, accomunati dalla stessa passione: fabbricare vetro. Siamo nella laguna veneziana, a Murano, patria del vetro soffiato, alla fine degli anni Sessanta. Elena gestisce la Fornace dell'Est ed è l'unica donna in questo ruolo, perché nella produzione del vetro per secoli alle donne era stata concessa solo la produzione di perle. Elena ha ereditato dal padre la fornace, ama profondamente il suo lavoro, è una donna tenace e nello stesso tempo creativa. Si presenta un giorno Tiziano, dieci anni più giovane di lei, che vuole diventare mastro vetraio. Fra mille difficoltà (Elena fra l'altro è sposata e all'epoca aveva un figlio) e in modo assolutamente altalenante, i due portano avanti questa relazione fatta di amore reciproco, ma soprattutto di passione professionale. Per entrambi la Fornace dell'Est è un luogo dell'anima ed un posto dove entrambi si sentono realizzati al cento per cento come persone e come professionisti. L'incontro fra queste due persone diverse per provenienza (lei è borghese e frequenta l'alta società veneziana, lui è del sestiere popolare di Castello, con il papà che si ammala di tumore per aver lavorato in fabbrica a Marghera) è decisivo per le loro vite. Tutto è raccontato da una voce narrante, la cui identità si scopre solo verso la fine del romanzo.

Tra il 2018 e il 2025 il numero di negozi del commercio al dettaglio in Italia è passato da 666.479 a 570.313, con una riduzione del 14,4%. Il calo riguarda soprattutto gli ambulanti (-27,3%) e i piccoli negozi alimentari (-17,9%). Secondo i dati del rapporto sul commercio di Confcommercio il rischio di desertificazione commerciale resta concreto, ma la rete è più strutturata. Il fatturato complessivo è cresciuto del 25,7%, con un boom per i discount (+101,1%) e per l'e-commerce (41,9%). In difficoltà ipermercati (-8,4%) e ambulanti (-14,9%).Il fenomeno del calo delle unità locali interessa la maggior parte dei segmenti del commercio. Secondo i dati di Confcommercio, questa dinamica colpisce soprattutto le attività di piccole dimensioni e a forte radicamento territoriale, tra cui anche gli esercizi dedicati ai consumi culturali e ricreativi (-21,9%). "La diminuzione di attività quali edicole, librerie, cartolerie, negozi di giocattoli e di articoli musicali - si legge nel rapporto -, penalizzate anche dalla crescente digitalizzazione dei consumi culturali e ricreativi, deve destare preoccupazione in quanto determina un impoverimento del tessuto urbano. Si tratta infatti di esercizi che, oltre alla loro funzione economica, svolgono un importante ruolo sociale e relazionale, contribuendo alla vitalità dei quartieri". Tra le poche eccezioni spiccano le farmacie (+4,2%), sostenute dalla natura meno elastica della domanda e dall'ampliamento dell'offerta di prodotti e servizi per la salute e la cura della persona. Confcommercio sottolinea però come il calo delle unità locali non si traduce necessariamente in un contrazione dell'occupazione complessiva. Dal rapporto emerge che la quota degli addetti nei negozi è diminuita complessivamente del 1,8% tra il 2018 e il 2025, ma nel caso dei supermercati e dei grandi punti vendita si è invece trattato di un incremento dell'8,3%. Allo stesso modo, anche nel segmento degli esercizi specializzati, come abbigliamento, calzature e gioielleria, mostrano una dinamica occupazionale positiva (+3,4%), pur in presenza di una riduzione del numero complessivo di punti vendita.Il commento Mauro Lusetti Vicepresidente Confcommercio e presidente ConadGiorgetti, nuovi tagli per i carburanti? Il problema è chiarissimo anche agli occhi di Palazzo Chigi, come conferma la nota diramata subito dopo la riunione in cui si sottolinea la volontà di «concentrare nel prossimo biennio la maggiore capacità di spesa per il contrasto al caro energia». Il riferimento al «prossimo biennio» getta luce anche sulla tempistica effettiva della spesa. Numeri e decisioni finali arriveranno infatti soltanto con la seconda tappa del percorso, che nelle ipotesi attuali arriverebbe in autunno con l autorizzazione effettiva allo scostamento di bilancio da approvare a maggioranza assoluta dei componenti delle due Camere. Dipenderà dall esito di questa procedura la sorte dei capitoli centrali della prossima manovra, l ultima di questa legislatura targata Meloni. Se il sindaco del Comune ligure porterà al 40% la quota di litorale libero e libero attrezzato tagliando gli stabilimenti da 34 a 25 (il che ha scatenato la protesta dei balneari, che hanno disertato la cerimonia delle Bandiere blu), il primo cittadino campano punta a restituire a uso gratuito l'80% dell'arenile. Anche Posillipo ha ampliato gli spazi a libera fruizione (quasi il 50%) mentre a Rimini il nuovo piano punta a garantire il 37% di sabbia libera ma a parita di concessioni. Restano, però, casi piuttosto isolati. Già, perché la maggior parte delle gare finora riassegna le concessioni demaniali marittime tal quali. In Italia, l'Ispra individua 644 Comuni "costieri" mentre il ministero del Turismo ne classifica 654 "a vocazione marittima prevalente".Stando a Legambiente, l'ultima mappatura ministeriale rileva chesolo il 33% delle coste italiane è oggetto di concessioni. Ma, per l'associazione ambientalista, il calcolo effettuato sul totale della costa e non sulle sole aree balneabili è fuorviante perché include i tratti di costa rocciosa, non accessibili, non appetibili o non assegnabili per la presenza di infrastrutture. La stessa Legambiente, su dati del Sistema informativo del demanio, quantifica 12.166 concessioni per stabilimenti balneari, fotografando una situazione critica in più punti della penisola. A partire dalla Liguria dove la percentuale di costa sabbiosa occupata dai bagni o altre strutture è il 69,9%. Come sta andando la fatidica liberalizzazione? Manca ancora il bando tipo nazionale del ministero delle Infrastrutture e trasporti per uniformare le procedure di assegnazione delle concessioni demaniali marittime. Il Mit fa sapere che il modello «è stato presentato alle associazioni di categoria con la Conferenza unificata e si attende la formalizzazione delle linee guida dall'Ordine dei commercialisti. Come da programma e accordi, auspichiamo un passaggio definitivo entro fine mese». Da parte sua, anche Anci chiarisce di «attendere il varo definitivo del bando nazionale».Nell'attesa, dunque, si procede in ordine sparso. Fra sindaci immobili e altri che, a fronte di anni di proroghe e crescenti ricorsi, hanno scelto di non rinviare. «Alla scadenza di una concessione non c'e un obbligo automatico di rimettere tutto a gara: il Comune puo riassegnare o lasciare il tratto a spiaggia libera», puntualizza Agostino Biondo di Mare libero. «È un'occasione per ridefinire l'assetto della costa a favore della collettivita . Ma pochi lo stanno facendo». La Liguria, per esempio, è oggi fra le regioni più avanti nelle gare. Una decisione presa per evitare strascichi e maturata anche alla luce dell'orientamento del Tar regionale, non favorevole all'ultima proroga nazionale per la validità delle concessioni fino al 30 settembre 2027. La Regione, d'intesa con i sindaci liguri, ha stilato un vademecum "non vincolante" di raccolta delle norme per fare ordine. Spesso, però, gli enti hanno scelto una durata provvisoria fino all'anno prossimo o di cinque anni (nel bando nazionale, dovrebbe essere la durata minima prevista). Si muovono anche Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Toscana, Marche, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Campania, Sicilia. Laddove concluse, gli uscenti sono stati riconfermati nel 70% delle assegnazioni (anche perché, in diversi lotti, si è presentato solo un concorrente ovvero l'attuale gestore). Nel restante 20-30% dei casi, vince un nuovo gestore. A Recco e Chiavari, per esempio, su una dozzina di concessioni, cinque hanno avuto un cambio.I criteri per l'assegnazione, peraltro, oggi danno più peso alla qualità del progetto e alla sostenibilità, alla difesa della costa e all'accessibilità. "Atto di famiglia" di Alessandra Carati e "SchooLol" di Federico e Filippo Taddia Un romanzo spiazzante sulla disgregazione di una coppia, ma soprattutto su una figlia contesa in una causa di separazione. In "Atto di famiglia" (Neri Pozza), Alessandra Carati (autrice di "E poi saremo salvi" e "Rosy") decide di raccontare la storia da tre punti di vista: il padre, la madre e la figlia con le conseguenze che lei si porta dentro con il passare del tempo. Il lettore o la lettrice empatizzano ora con uno, ora con l'altra, finendo per avvertire appunto questa sensazione di spaesamento, la sensazione che probabilmente hanno tutti ragione o hanno tutti torto. Un padre che si prende cura della figlia piccola perché la moglie lavora all'estero, la madre che si sente esclusa da questo rapporto intenso fra padre e figlia e che alla parola "separazione" minaccia di non fargli vedere più la bambina. Un uomo che sembra schiacciato dalle circostanze e una donna che si sente tradita dal marito e ha sete di risarcimento. Fra loro, però, c'è una bambina contesa che assiste anche a scene di violenza. Ma la memoria di tutti in questo romanzo è fallace: cosa è successo realmente in quella famiglia? Quanto lui o lei hanno manipolato la situazione? Quanto sono falsi ricordi dei personaggi adulti, ma anche della bambina poi cresciuta? Nella seconda parte parliamo di un libro per i più piccoli, adatto a bambini e bambine dalla quarta elementare alle scuole medie. Si intitola "SchooLol" (Mondadori), praticamente una crasi fra School e LOL, l'acronimo inglese che significa "ridere ad alta voce", "ridere a crepapelle". Gli autori sono Federico Taddia, conduttore di Radio 24 che ha sempre uno sguardo molto attento sul mondo dei giovanissimi, e il fratello Filippo Taddia. Un libro che fa ridere e che nobilita il concetto della risata, partendo dall'idea che ridere è una cosa seria, esattamente come dice la professoressa di matematica. È lei che ha organizzato a scuola una competizione a squadre che devono combattere a suon di barzellette, colmi, e qualunque cosa scateni ilarità. Jack e i suoi amici, annoiati dalla scuola, prenderanno parte alla gara con grande divertimento per tutti.

Social Security Is in Bad Shape. Does It Still Make Sense to Wait? Episode 391 – The new Social Security Trustees Report is out, and as usual, the news is not good. If the two Trust Funds were combined, they are projected to be insolvent in the third quarter of 2034. Is that enough of a reason to consider collecting earlier? More SML Planning Minute Podcast Episodes Transcript of Podcast Episode 391 Hello, this is Bill Rainaldi, with another edition of Security Mutual's SML Planning Minute. In today's episode: Social Security is in bad shape. Does it still make sense to wait? As you may have heard, the U.S. Department of Treasury released its 2026 Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports on June 9. Neither program is doing particularly well, but the Social Security Trust Funds seem to be getting the most attention. There are two Social Security Trust Funds: one for retirement and one for disability. According to the 2026 report, the retirement fund, or the “Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund,” will run out of money during the fourth quarter of 2032. The other (smaller) fund, the “Disability Insurance Trust Fund,” is in a much stronger position than it was a few years ago. The current report projects that this one will be able to pay 100 percent of total scheduled benefits at least through the year 2100.[1] There's a certain amount of public confusion over the projected finances of the two funds. The two funds are separate entities and cannot be combined into one without a change in the law. But if they did get combined, and many people assume they eventually will be, the resulting mega-fund is projected to last until the third quarter of 2034. From that point forward, they would only be able to pay approximately 83 percent of the scheduled benefits.[2] There have been a number of proposed “fixes” to the Social Security problem. Right now, there are two approaches that seem to be getting the most attention: raising taxes and reducing benefits. One of the suggested ways of raising taxes is increasing or eliminating the Social Security “cap,” which is $184,500 in 2026.[3] If your wages exceed this amount, the Social Security withholding of 6.2 percent for the employee, plus 6.2 percent for the employer, no longer applies. Above that amount, there is no withholding, nor is there any benefit that would be payable from it. Note that unlike Social Security, Medicare's withholding of 1.45 percent has no upper limit. When it comes to benefit reductions, the most common suggestion is to increase Full Retirement Age, or FRA. FRA, the age at which you receive your full, unreduced Social Security benefit, is currently age 67. The belief is that, since people are living significantly longer than they were years ago, extending FRA is a sensible way to “fix” the Social Security Trust Funds. It remains unclear which solution will eventually win out. When Congress last took on this issue back in 1983, the result was a combination of both: an increase in withholding taxes and an extension of Full Retirement Age. Either way, the prevailing thought is that they will eventually do something to fix it, one way or the other. Given the popularity of Social Security among America's seniors, it seems unlikely that they will ever allow that projected 17 percent reduction in benefits to take place.[4] But what if they're wrong, and the projected drop actually occurs? Should that possibility be a significant factor in your claiming decision? In most cases, no. The logical response seems to be that if Social Security benefits are reduced by 17 percent in 2034, it would be a good reason to claim earlier, correct? In other words, it would make more sense to start collecting as early as possible, say age 62, before the benefit is reduced. Keep in mind how the math works. If you start at 62, you're collecting five years ahead of schedule, but the tradeoff is a 30 percent lifetime reduction. So, while you get off to a head start, at some point you'll be better off waiting, assuming you live long enough. A quick analysis indicates that the breakeven occurs around age 79. So, if you live past that age, you're theoretically better off waiting, although there are some other factors, such as cost-of-living adjustments and the time value of money, that you may want to consider. The same thing applies to delaying when you collect. You have the option of waiting until after Full Retirement Age, possibly as late as age 70. The incentive is an 8 percent per year increase. Survivor benefits can also play a big role in the calculation. For a married couple where both are past FRA, the survivor benefit is basically the higher of the two. So, if I'm collecting $3,000 per month and my wife is collecting $1,000 per month, if something happens to me, she would “step up” to the $3,000 per month benefit. When doing the analysis, this becomes a potential reason for me to delay collecting, especially if she has a longer life expectancy than I do or is at least a few years younger than me. And don't forget about the Earnings Test. Your benefit could be temporarily reduced if you collect before FRA and continue to work, earning over a certain amount in wages. For 2026, that amount is $24,480, and the benefit reduction is $1 for every $2 over.[5] In some circumstances, that makes it impractical to collect before FRA, even if that's what you would prefer. Confused yet? Imagine how people feel when they add in the potential 17 percent benefit cut in 2034. How could that potentially impact your decision? There are no simple answers, of course. But just understand that the projected cut, if it happens, would be across the board. In other words, if you wait until age 70, even if your benefit is reduced, it will still be 24 percent higher than it would have been had you collected at 67. So, when it comes to your decision, the effect of a potential insolvency of the Trust Funds is limited. David Blanchette, Head of Retirement Research at Prudential Financial, has studied this issue in detail. His conclusion is that when you assume a potential benefit cut, the math is different, but not very much.[6] Other factors, such as life expectancy, survivor benefits and cost-of-living adjustments, could play a bigger role. Other academic studies have reached a similar conclusion.[7] In many—but not all—cases, whatever works best before what could be called “Social Security doomsday” will still be the best choice afterwards, whether we actually see that day or not. Every case is different, but one possible exception might be someone with a shorter life expectancy.  In that case, collecting as early as possible might make sense. La mayoría de los edificios y viviendas de Francia, incluidos colegios y hospitales, no cuentan con aire acondicionado, a pesar de las olas de calor —tres este verano—, con temperaturas superiores a los 40 °C. Para responder a este desafío, París lleva décadas implementando una solución a gran escala: un sistema de aire acondicionado central que utiliza el agua del Sena y consume la mitad de la electricidad y genera la mitad de las emisiones de CO₂, en comparación con los sistemas de aire acondicionado individuales. Entrevista con Marie Carlo, directora general de Fraîcheur de Paris. París desarrolla una red de refrigeración urbana que utiliza el agua del Sena para enfriar edificios cercanos al río. Este sistema, que está en plena expansión, ya supera los 120 kilómetros de tuberías subterráneas, convirtiéndose así en el más grande de Europa. Marie Carlo, directora general de Fraîcheur de Paris, explica cómo funciona y qué papel desempeña frente a las cada vez más frecuentes olas de calor. "Es una red cerrada de distribución de agua helada con 120 km de tuberías que abastecen a los edificios conectados. Cuando el agua llega al edificio, pasa por un intercambiador térmico que transfiere el frío al sistema de climatización del inmueble. Después, el agua regresa más caliente a las plantas de producción como consecuencia de ese intercambio. Allí se utiliza el agua del río Sena en un nuevo proceso de intercambio térmico para evacuar el calor extraído de los edificios y volver a enfriar el agua mediante equipos de refrigeración. En ningún momento las dos aguas se mezclan: el intercambio de calor se realiza exclusivamente a través de intercambiadores térmicos", dice Carlo. ¿Está preparada esta red de refrigeración para hacer frente a las repetidas olas de calor? "Estas redes están diseñadas para soportar altas temperaturas. Sin embargo, las olas de calor que vivimos en este 2026 no tienen precedentes. Esto demuestra que debemos seguir reforzando la red y aumentando su resiliencia para responder mejor a fenómenos climáticos que han sido especialmente extremos este año. Con ese objetivo, seguimos ampliando nuestra infraestructura. Acabamos de conectar una nueva planta de producción ubicada en la Universidad de Jussieu, en París. Además, estamos finalizando las obras que triplicarán la capacidad de otra de nuestras plantas, situada en la Biblioteca Nacional de Francia. También tenemos nuevos proyectos de plantas en construcción", precisa Carlo. ¿Cómo puede adaptarse este sistema para que las poblaciones más vulnerables también puedan disfrutar de este servicio? "Esto es un enorme desafío. Debemos garantizar que toda la población, especialmente la más vulnerable, tenga acceso a espacios donde pueda refrescarse. Hoy ya no hablamos de refrigeración por comodidad, sino de refrigeración como una necesidad básica. La meta de la ciudad de París es que las escuelas, municipalidades y bibliotecas conectadas a la red de frío también puedan abrir sus puertas a los vecinos. En el caso de las escuelas, incluso durante las vacaciones, para que quienes no disponen de viviendas suficientemente frescas puedan acceder, al menos durante unas horas al día, a un espacio climatizado". Marie Carlo concluye recordando la importancia de las redes de refrigeración urbana para adaptarse al cambio climático. Destaca que, en comparación con los sistemas de aire acondicionado individuales, consumen la mitad de electricidad y generan la mitad de las emisiones de CO₂.

Sempre secondo i dati ufficiali dell Amministrazione generale delle dogane, il mese scorso le esportazioni cinesi verso gli Stati Uniti sono aumentate del 13,9% su base annua. Le esportazioni verso gli Usa hanno raggiunto i 43,5 miliardi di dollari, portando il surplus commerciale della Cina con gli Stati Uniti a 28,9 miliardi di dollari. Del resto l amministrazione americana stessa ha accettato una formula ambigua, nel Memorandum d intesa con Teheran in giugno, che non chiude a questa possibilità.
