It's been four years since I first learned about the disappearance of Niamh Maye, an 18-year-old who went missing from the small New South Wales town of Batlow back in 2002. I don't know if it's because Niamh and I finished high school in the same year, or we shared a similar taste in music, but I felt instinctively drawn to her story. At the time of her disappearance, Niahm was just a young woman, setting out on an adventure with friends and testing the waters of life, like so many 18-year-olds do. But unlike the rest of us, something pulled Niamh under. As I learned more about Niamh's story, the revelations that unfolded left me in shock. I spent four years speaking with family, friends, witnesses and members of law enforcement to try and get some answers. The result is Missing Niamh, the latest 12 part series from Casefile Presents. Researched and hosted by me, the series features exclusive interviews with key players, who help us dive into the details of Niamh's case as we go back to Batlow to try and make sense of what really happened.  The entire 12-part series is available now. Be sure to download and follow Missing Niamh, wherever you get your podcasts.  https://missingniamh.com

This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life's journey and what got them to the position that they're in today. In today's episode we are chatting with Sharni Williams. Sharni was a shy kid from the town of Batlow, a place with a population of 1300 people that has gone on to become one of Australia's most recognisable women's Rugby players. She's played in 3 rugby world cups, won a gold medal (and you won't believe the story of where she keeps it), and won a commonwealth games silver medal. She's captained teams through tremendous challenges to great successes. In this chat we talk about Sharni's path to being a professional athlete and how that has evolved over the course of her career. We talk about pride in sport and the importance of visibility. As for all of these podcasts, Shaw and Partners have generously donated $10k to the charity of choice of each of our guests. We discuss who that money goes to in this chat.  This podcast is brought to you by Shaw and Partners Financial Services. It is hosted by Gus Worland and produced by Keeshia Pettit See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Niamh Maye was an adventurous teenager. She grew up in a large family in the northern New South Wales town of Armidale, in Australia. After finishing high school, she took a gap year in 2002 and embarked on a working holiday picking fruit in the rural town of Batlow. As Easter approached, Niamh made plans to travel to Sydney to meet her sister, Fionnuala, and brother Kieron, so they could travel back to Armidale to spend Easter with their family.   But Niamh never made it home. ITEM The lads Gary and Batlow piss about for a bit before they enter the reviewniverse (where conditions are ferocious), and in the process cover the all-important Sponsorshibboleths, the Lego Batman movie, #dredducation and a perhaps too in-depth look at the bob’s feels about the recorded long player music album called BATMAN by the prince of a place called Prince. ITEM And that goes on for a little bit too long if we’re honest, or maybe he’s edited it, (I don’t know. I’m on a train, as the boy Cobain might have said, also mentioned in this epppppisode) ITEM But then yeah eventually we get to the reviewniverse where everybody’s talkin’ about (in no good order) Wildstorm, Cave Carson, CIABatman, Nazi Captain America, Ultimates 2, Doctor Strange, Batwoman Rebirth, Green Lanterns, Old Man Logan, Dad’s Weekend (good), and Punisherment (RIP Steve D).
