Send us a textToday's Writing Process episode with fantasy author Elisse Hay. This chat was so much fun and listening to Elisse's writing process and how she tackles her stories is so much fun - as someone who is neurodivergent it was fun to get a sneak peak into how she makes it work for what she needs. Fun fact: Elisse was the first indie author that I bought when I first starting buying indie books and it was such a fan girl moment. Author Bio:Elisee Hay is the author of Something Wicked and Fate Untethered. She have no patience for bullshit, lots of words to share, and love fiercely....but there isn't room in her life for toxicity. Give her big, wholesome and heartfelt! She lives, works and learns on the Wadawurrung lands of the Kulin Nation and acknowledge that the First Nations' people have a deep and magical connection to the land, which they have never ceded. On this episode of Do It Again But Better, Jess chats to actor Monty Burgess about their vast array of procedural roles, the Heartbreak High experience that almost came full circle, and the raunchy audiobook line that takes the cake—and speaking of, Monty shares stories of his love for baked treats and where to find them, the real-life Party Down job that brought gratitude, and the audition they nailed but somehow, didn't book.Monty Burgess was deported from the United Kingdom for unspecified unlawfulness in the late 1980s. After stretches of time in various juvenile facilities, Monty was ill advisedly persuaded to attend university for his own betterment. After the diversion of attaining a degree in psychology and literature, he achieved a level of self determination and was able to turn his focus to his true passion - acting. Having worked on little bits and pieces, as drama series in Australia started to shut up shop (Blue Heelers, Water Rats, McLeod's Daughters, Murder Call), yearning for more training, Monty headed back to the UK, where he lived, studied and worked for over a decade. All was well and on the up until the British government decided to shoot itself in the foot and leave the EU, to which Monty thought to himself 'well fuck that for a joke', and returned to Australia in 2017.You can find Monty on Instagram at @monty.burgessYou can find your host, Jess Stanley, on Instagram at @jstanny or at www.jessicastanleyactor.comYou can check out Jess's theatre company, Spinning Plates Co. at @spinningplatesco or at www.spinningplatesco.comYou can follow the Do It Again But Better podcast at @doitagainbutbetterThis podcast was created, recorded and edited on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I'm joined by the extraordinary Carol Lefevre. In a world where conversations about ageing so often centre on mid-life or decline, Carol offers something rare and powerful: an honest, hopeful exploration of later life, told from an older voice, for all generations.Framed by the turning of the seasons in her small suburban garden, Bloomer documents the year Carol turned seventy and invites us to reconsider everything we think we know about ageing. In this conversation, Carol speaks openly about ageism and the harmful narratives we've been conditioned to accept, the grief and loneliness that can accompany later life, and the quiet resilience that grows alongside them. She reflects on losing her mother, living with a cancer diagnosis, and the shift that comes when you realise there is no longer a buffer between yourself and mortality, all with remarkable honesty and grace. We explore the idea of “ongoingness”, that life doesn't stop or shrink with age, but continues to unfold. Carol also shares insights from her conversations with people in their 70s, 80s and 90s, each offering wisdom on resilience, kindness, grief, nature, purpose, and embracing life as it is.This episode is gentle, profound, and deeply grounding. It's an invitation to slow down, challenge age-based stereotypes, and remember that becoming older does not mean the end of growth, it can be the beginning of a golden age.
In this special episode we check out Netflix's 2025 original mystery film, ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' directed by Rian Johnson starring Daniel Craig, Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. Location: Melbourne, AustraliaDate: December 2nd, 2025A Note To The Runners: Get my book here.Join The JL Mentorship: Fill out the form here.Buy me a coffee here: My go-to order is a long black.Notes RunningI'd like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri-willam people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which this podcast is recorded, where I live, run, and work.I'd like to extend my respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait-Islander Peoples, past and present. Today, as I share my own stories, we pay homage to the tradition of storytelling cultivated by the world's oldest living culture.Poem:A tired brain has not much to say, moving slowly at the start of each day, little by little coming to wake, wasted time is the highest stake.A smile awry, turns to a smile at play, with a small walk,Opening the day's talk.A tired brain comes and goes,You mustn't listen to it amongst the throes.

Earlier this fall adrienne finally got to connect with mother, musician, therapist, broadcaster, facilitator, researcher and educator, Leah Manaema Avene on IG Live. This episode is the audio from that live session. Consider this a bonus episode from our Solidarity is Love season. Leah's bloodlines have been shaped by the Pacific Ocean and the islands of Tuvalu through her father's line and the landscapes of Ireland through her mother's. Leah was raised on unceded Kulin Nations lands along the coastline of Waddawurrung / Wathaurong Country (South coast of Victoria). Leah's work focuses on nurturing the strengths of culture, ancestry, land, body, community and deeply shared values to transform harmful power dynamics in bodies, relationships and systems.---TRANSCRIPT---SUPPORT OUR SHOWhttps://www.patreon.com/Endoftheworldshow---HTS ESSENTIALSSUPPORT Our Show on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/EndoftheworldshowPEEP us on IGhttps://www.instagram.com/endoftheworldpc/
