Because my Witching Hour co-host and the host of Ask Ready or Not Loz is the yin to my yang, she always thinks of things that I don't. Take, the other week, for example. My entire family had been sick for over a month and it had left me completely dry of new interviews. When I was fretting about this, Loz said, Lu, there's so many old brilliant episodes that so many of our listeners have never heard. Play one of those. And one person came straight to mind: the queen of magazines and mother to four boys, Justine Cullen. I cringed through listening back to my original intro back in March 2023 in the 18th ever Ready or Not episode, and I want to play a bit for you so we can firstly laugh together and secondly, remind ourselves how far we've all come, because we'll all have an example of this. Here, we talk about why we all love Chilli Heeler, what life looks like when you're parenting both young kids and grown men, and the identity crisis that changed Justine's approach to work. If you want to get up to speed on what Justine is up to now, you can look her up on Instagram, but for now, please enjoy learning from and laughing with someone that I will always think of as iconic. —Thanks for listening! Rebecca Jarvie-Gibbs has learnt a lot about life; as a boss, a mum, and a daughter. She's someone that worked hard to build a career for herself. That work led her to London and from The Rolling Stones to the Royal Wedding to the Olympics, it's fair to say it was a heady time of big adventures and a fast pace. But, while her early career was characterised by being the first to her desk and the last to leave, she's since been on a path of interrogating her relationship with success. This hard work eventually led to burnout, which collided with navigating pregnancy and the loss of her dad, and here, Rebecca tells us all about this time and what it's taught her. Here, we talk about how to find joy in work, what it felt like to send her son to childcare on what society would deem the early side of the scale, and the toxic societal narratives about where exactly a woman should be, and what it is that she should be doing.—Thanks for listening! Enjoy the tangents upon tangents in this episode as Jess and Bridge reminisce on the best of the forgotten 90s kids tv, which celebrity Harry you'd most want to have as your marriage celebrant, and what they got up to under the stage trapdoors in the 2024 season of Rhinoceros...Bridget Sweeney (she/her) is a professional silly goose with feathers in many pies — on stage, off stage, and behind the scenes. A graduate of the National Theatre Drama School, the Victorian College of the Arts, and the London Film Academy, she's now based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her work spans writing and performing weekly children's entertainment and teaching Shakespeare to teens. Bridget's eclectic creative life comes together under her brand artistic allsort — a home for all her artistic adventures, whether performing, directing, teaching, or producing. She is currently the Marketing Manager for Melbourne Shakespeare Company so you can generally find her staring through or at a screen (but preferably a stage). She takes particular delight in capturing moments from the stage for the socials… having created the marketing and content for Othello and other productions in MSC's recent seasons. 112 ~ Understanding Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Through Chris's Journey

Before You Bloom

Welcome back to Before You Bloom. In today's episode, I'm joined by Chris, who lives with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition that disrupts how the brain sends and receives signals to the body. Often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, FND can impact every part of life, from physical movement to emotional wellbeing, yet it remains one of the least talked-about neurological conditions.Chris bravely shares his story to shed light on what it's really like to live with FND, the challenges, the misconceptions, and the small victories that come with navigating such a complex condition. We talk about the journey to diagnosis, the impact on identity and relationships, and the tools Chris uses to care for both his physical and mental health. This conversation is an eye-opening reminder of the resilience it takes to live with an invisible illness and the importance of compassion, understanding, and advocacy.Chris's honesty and courage will leave you with a deeper awareness of FND and a greater appreciation for the power of sharing our stories!⭐ ⭐ Download My Symptom Tracker and Mental Health Tracker Bundle (SAVE $$$) : HERE or if you would like to download them individually you can access here : Symptom Tracker OR Mental Health Tracker ⭐ ⭐

In this episode, we speak with Jodi Wilson (@practisingsimplicity) - mother of four, health journalist and bestselling author of three books. Our chat with Jodi was ultimately a chat on becoming, on the daily learning journey that is parenting and motherhood, and the importance of being more compassionate and soft with ourselves while also lowering our demands and expectations. There are some tender moments of care in this episode, and we hope Jodi's words offer you some care too. Jodi has been mothering longer than us, so it was lovely to hear her words of wisdom and how she invites slowness and intention into the chaos that can be everyday life.Jodi's latest book, ‘A Brain that Breathes', explores how we can support our brains in this chaos and is available for pre-order now.You can join our Growing community on instagram @growingupraisinguspodcast to see photos of our weekly guests, behind the scenes moments, and keep up to date with episode releases. This podcast was recorded on the unceded lands of the Taungurung, Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung/Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation.
