Welcome to episode #275 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with some news that was delivered during the Major 3 broadcast regarding ranked play, which is that we will be getting a breakdown of how we gain/lose SR in ranked. Many people have wondered how they exactly calculate this per match, and this is a nice step in the right direction. Along with this, we shift towards some news regarding Sony and Xbox, as a potential console war may be upon us. As Sony is pulling back on letting their exclusives go to PC, Xbox lowered the price of game pass and seems to be making steps to regain their spot at the top. We talk about the pros and cons of a console war, and what it will mean for the future of gaming. This then turns to a conversation about the future of stories in gaming, as we discuss a concerning article regarding stories in movies that we can already see happening in gaming, which is a drop in complexity and quality. Finally, we end with our review of Major 3, as well as the pros of the format used during the weekend. Have you been playing ranked still? Do you think the SR breakdown will be accurate, or will it still have some flaws? What are your thoughts on a potential console war reigniting? Do you remember console wars back during the Xbox 360/PS3 era? Regarding story games, do you avoid any and all gameplay/spoilers, or does it not matter to you? Finally, did you end up watching Major 3? If so, what did you think of the change in format? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Welcome to episode #274 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off talking about an inevitable fact of friends dropping off of gaming, and what may be contributing to this. As most of our friends have stopped playing, we turn to the games we had growing up, and how the quality of those titles, such as Call of Duty, has changed so much over the years that it has turned people away from gaming altogether. We share our thoughts on story games, and their ability to tell a story you actually cared about and wanted to keep playing. This shifts our talk to the seasons in BO7, and how the story continues to be told, despite not having that initial interest from a lack of quality. Along with this, when it comes to quality and effort in COD, most turn to the maps being a main point of focus. We give our thoughts on how map design and quality has been trending over the years, as well as sharing the fact that despite good maps in the past, there are very few that live on over the years. Finally, we close with some CDL updates, and are looking forward to an exciting major 3 tournament. Do you share the experience of having a shrinking list of friends still playing regularly? What's the longest you've gone without gaming? Do you agree with our takes on storylines in gaming? Does COD need a full reset when it comes to their campaigns? Finally, do you remember a lot of maps from old COD titles, or is your memory as bad as ours? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Welcome to episode #273 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the news that Modern Warfare 4 will not be released on last-gen consoles, making it the first COD in over a decade to move exclusively to the current generation of consoles. We share our thoughts on the move, those who still main on the old consoles, and what the future looks like for console gaming vs. PC gaming, as both are becoming more and more expensive. We then shift to the current state of BO7, and discuss how COD has changed over the years to where we currently are, and what this says for Modern Warfare 4. The focus has shifted over the years to variety and quantity for all players, and moved away from good fundamentals in their titles. We give our opinions on the fundamentals IW needs to focus on to gain traction for their title. Finally, we give an overview on the CDL weekend, as serious concerns are still there for some of the bottom teams, and the battle for the top has gotten even closer as we are closing in on major 3. What do you think about the move away from old gen support regarding COD? When did you make the switch to the next gen, or do you still play your old console? What are your thoughts on our talk regarding settings in COD? Do you think there are too many, or do you enjoy the customization? Finally, what are your main points for IW to focus on for MW4? Welcome to episode #272 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we have some major news regarding the future of COD, and the serious potential of a major loss in sales, as Xbox officially has announced that COD will not appear on game pass until a year after release, no longer being at launch. This comes off the back of a much needed price cut for game pass, but now the question is; will the Xbox Call of Duty playerbase take a serious hit because of this change? We give our opinions on the matter, and how this year's game is now even more important. Along with this, we cover the most recent minor tournament in the CDL this past weekend, and cover the top teams and what is next for those teams who continue to struggle. Finally, we wrap up with the recent interview with Daniel Tsay on The Flank. There are lots of questions to be answered regarding changes to the CDL format, and the overall future of the league, and we cover the most important points from this. What do you think about Xbox not having the newest COD on game pass? Will Xbox lose some of it's core playerbase because of this, or will the impact not be felt that heavily? What did you think of the most recent CDL matches? Are there matches simply not worth watching, and does this show how the CDL needs a format change? Welcome to episode #271 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the confirmation that we will be seeing a COD movie in the near future, and what this means for the series. Set to release in 2028, we give some thoughts and theories as to why they have decided to make COD into a movie, and what their hopes are with the outcome from it to support their game. We break down the potential ideas they could have with COD 2028, as well as if it will be successful or not. We then shift to some of the decline that's been seen in FPS games across the board, as hackers have now ruined Arc Raiders and ranked play for BO7. This will lead players onto new games, constantly chasing the next best game. We give our thoughts on this movement as a whole, and how we feel the game industry has led to games feeling “disposable” as years have gone on. We finally end with some CDL news updates and changes, as we head into the first minor tournament of Major 3, getting a first look at the top teams in the league. What do you think of the COD movie announcement? Are you excited for this, or more worried? What do you think Activision hopes to achieve with this movie, and do you think they'll be successful? Do you agree with our assessment of the gaming industry and there being too many games to choose from? Finally, what do you think of the competition in the CDL right now after Major 3? Do lots of teams need to make changes, or wait until after Major 3? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Welcome to episode #270 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the increase in pricing for gaming, which now seems to be nearly across the board. With the recent news that Sony raised the price of the PS5 across the board, with the PS5 being $900, and Microsoft's new CEO announcing a change to the Game Pass pricing, we cover the thoughts as a gamer in 2026, and how our hobby's barrier to entry is getting more and more difficult to reach. Along with this, we also got a rumor circling that Call of Duty will be taken off of Xbox Game Pass later this year, assuming that COD's next title will not be available through it. We share our thoughts on this move, and if it's good or bad for the future of the game and the series, as GTA VI looms over all games releasing towards the end of this year. Finally, we end with some more CDL roster moves, as we draw close to the first week of the Major 3 qualifiers. What do you think of the price increase on consoles and gaming subscriptions? Do you have a cutoff price for consoles or games? Do you think consoles will continue to get more expensive, or will it eventually hit a cap? What do you think of the future of COD on Game Pass? Is this going to hurt or save the series down the line? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! As it's the most anticipated season yet in Black Ops 7, we give our take on the new maps that have been added in, as well as a meta shift for competitive play as some nerfs and buffs have been implemented. We give our opinion on the shakeup, and what this will mean for ranked play and the CDL. Shifting to the CDL, we end with lots of roster news and rumors. Boston have officially made the decision to drop Snoopy and pick up Afro as their one change during this break, and we give our thoughts on the move, and if we'll see any improvements into the major 3 qualifiers. Welcome to episode #268 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with breaking down the season 3 roadmap. This has to be the most anticipated launch for a season in Black Ops 7, with tons of fan-favorite remasters returning, as well as the new season of ranked play. We break down each part of the roadmap, and give our thoughts on the big talking points from it, such as the return of the classic mode demolition. Finally, we end with the Major II results, and some of the biggest winners and losers from the event. Master prestige has finally been achieved, and we're getting into our other games in the back catalog. We share our struggles with balancing other games during the COD season, as well as the importance of being able to play enough of the game to give a review on it. When talking about opinions on games, our discussion shifts to MW 2019, as a recent sale has brought back lots of players to the game, along with double xp being provided. We don't buy into the hype around this game, and give our reasons as to why this game was one of the worst in the franchise, and the beginning of the end for the series in recent years. Finally, we end with our CDL talk, and start with discussions regarding the Boston Breach who failed to qualify for Major II along with C9. We give our thoughts on their next moves, as well as predictions for Major II. What's your current level right now in Black Ops 7? The Casuals discuss the 2026 Oscars.
Welcome to episode #266 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we give our first impressions of season 2 reloaded, as it has been highly anticipated with some fan favorite remasters included, as well as following up with Blackout 2. Treyarch has continued to deliver good content for Black Ops 7, and the hope is that with Blackout 2 seeing instant success, this will drive more traffic to the multiplayer and change people's view on the game. Along with this, we share thoughts on the game as it has changed over the years, and how the player base has evolved with it. Things such as 2v2 SnD matches, 1v1 sniper battles, and more used to be common, and now it seems players don't want any of that. We close with some discussion on the CDL matches and team standings. We are coming down to the wire before Major 2 in Birmingham, and these matches are becoming more important as we draw closer. We give our thoughts on the current power rankings, and some predictions post Major 2. What do you think of season 2 reloaded overall? Are you happy with the new maps and remasters? Is this your first time playing the old maps, or do you already know your way around them? What do you think of Blackout 2 if you have played it? Welcome to episode #263 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we cover the most recent CDL matches, as we are getting into the midst of the major 2 qualifiers, and there are some serious concerns with teams. We start with the Breach, and their struggles to get any wins against the mid pack, putting them in a dangerous spot to not be able to qualify for major 2. Lots of talks are around which players they need to drop and who to get, and we share our thoughts on what we think the teams need to do, and where they currently stand. Lots of teams have been taking chances on challengers players, and we have seen the benefit of this strategy, as well as seeing teams struggle when rotating new players in constantly. We cover the other teams that have made these moves and assess where they are at since the change. Have they improved or declined? Welcome back to It Was What It Was, the football history podcast. In this second part of our two-part special on football hooliganism, co-hosts Jonathan Wilson and Rob Draper trace the roots of football violence from the 1890s through to its transformation into organised ‘firms' in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. They discuss the origins of the word ‘hooligan', early crowd disorder and FA crackdowns, and how post-war prosperity, youth subcultures, away travel and ‘taking ends' helped create a new kind of fan conflict. The episode also covers the European and England-team flashpoints of the 1970s and 80s, the political and policing response to the Popplewell Report, with later links to post-Hillsborough reforms and why large-scale hooliganism declined. You can listen to this episode ad-free over on our Patreon - Follow the link here - or go to Patreon.com and search for It Was What It Was. Welcome to episode #262 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start with our ranked status so far, and where we have improved, and where we are still struggling. There is still a lot to learn in ranked, and we give thoughts on those who vote to forfeit. We think this is a problem with most new players today, who simply don't want to keep playing to improve, and want an easier game to make them feel as if they're actually improving. We then shift towards covering the past CDL weekend, and we have learned a lot from the team's current standings post Major 1. Lots of teams have serious weaknesses in their ability on modes, or players simply not performing. With new amateur players starting for Thieves and KOI, the question becomes do teams at the bottom take similar chances? How are you progressing in ranked so far? Do you know your strengths and weaknesses? When you lose, do you learn from your mistakes and work with your teammate, or do you dashboard? Finally, what are your opinions on the bottom teams, and which teams do you think are in need of a change? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week. Follow us:Twitter: @TheCODCasualsInstagram: @TheCODCasualsTikTok: @TheCODCasualsContact us:Business Inquiries: TheCODCasuals@gmail.com

Welcome to episode #261 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with our CDL overview, as we have some teams in dire situations post major 1, particularly Cloud 9, as its been announced that they have dropped their entire roster. We give our thoughts on this move, and what this means for the future of that CDL spot, as well as any future players who sign to that team. Is it the right move to join that organization, or simply wait for a better offer from the CDL? We then move towards some rumors regarding Modern Warfare 3, in that it may be up for a multiplayer remaster. We discuss the idea of remastered CODs becoming a thing, and if that is where COD needs to go in the future. Finally, we end with talks about the teased Modern Warfare 4, and how there are talks that it is making the correct steps to be a good successor to Black Ops 7's multiplayer experience. We share what we feel next year's COD needs to do to be successful. What are your thoughts on the Cloud 9 situation? Was it a bad move to drop their whole roster? Should new owners come in and take that spot? What do you think of our takes on remastered CODs? Should they come back, or do those old games need to stay in the past? Finally, what do you think Modern Warfare 4 needs to do to be a successful game, and what should it avoid doing? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! Hope you all enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week.Follow us:Twitter: @TheCODCasualsInstagram: @TheCODCasualsTikTok: @TheCODCasualsContact us:Business Inquiries: TheCODCasuals@gmail.com

For those who have never been to a Call of Duty event, or esports event in general, we give a full breakdown of our experience the entire weekend. Welcome to episode #259 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we give our final thoughts on the CDL's online matches, as we come to the end of the online qualifiers and are now ready for Major 1 in Dallas. We are beyond excited to be attending this event, and we will be sure to give our full breakdown of the experience in next week's episode. We give our opinions on who are gonna be the top teams making it to Sunday, and how this has to be one of the best Major 1 events in a while due to the uncertainty at the top. With no clear #1 team, we're expecting some crazy matches, and hopefully a couple upsets along the way. Finally, we have gotten confirmation that ranked play will be dropping on February 5th, and we cannot be more excited. A big annoyance people have had with the game so far is the long wait for ranked play to drop. We have to look back on the mistakes of last year with ranked, and hope that Treyarch has taken the necessary steps to make this ranked play experience better than last year. What teams did you expect to make a run at Major 1, and which teams surprised you, either positively or negatively? Who do you think is most likely to make a change after the major, and who in your eye is the clear #1 team? Finally, what are your expectations with ranked play?https://discord.gg/9NJYBzbuFollow us:Twitter: @TheCODCasualsInstagram: @TheCODCasualsTikTok: @TheCODCasualsContact us:Business Inquiries: TheCODCasuals@gmail.com

Welcome to episode #258 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with the CDL weekend recap, as we draw closer to Major 1 in Dallas. This year has been interesting compared to previous years, as there is no clear top team in the league right now, as this past weekend had some major upsets coming from bottom teams on the resurgence towards top teams. We share our thoughts and reasoning as to why this is, and what this will mean for the major. We then shift to the continued growth of BO7, as recent stats have shown this game has had a strong base of players to start 2026, and BF6 is continuing to drop. We then close with the question of the future of Call of Duty. What will this title need to do in order to stay relevant in the next 5 years, and will it be around in 10-20 years like it already has since its first installment. What are your thoughts on the current top 4 teams in the CDL? Who do you think is going to be the standout team come Major 1, and who will fall short? Do you think BO7 will continue to grow as people take a chance on the game, or is it dead? Finally, what are your thoughts on the future of COD? Will it be around in 10 years or not? If so, what do you think the series needs to do to stay relevant? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more!
