Citipointe Christian College is the subject of a complaint to the Queensland Human rights Commission, over a controversial letter it sent parents earlier this year. It demanded parents sign an contract that said students could only be enrolled by their "biological sex", and included a "statement of faith" that described homosexual acts as "immoral" and "offensive to God".
Citipointe Christian College teachers threatened with dismissal for expressing homosexuality I find it hard to comprehend why someone would insist on working at a Christian College, then insist on that Christian College changing their Christian standards to suit their non biblical moral standards. This is just my opinion. J Fallon Apple Music J Fallon Spotify --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jason-fallon/message
As usual, this episode contains frequent swearing, and we do discuss both Grace Tame and Brittany Higgins, two high-profile sexual assault victims. That Clancy has a potty mouth. One of our listeners has requested some sensitivity about how we discuss Grace Tame so I have chopped the episode up - so yes, it is out of order. That's what the beeps are for. Citipointe Christian College in Brisbane made international headlines last week when it introduced an amended enrolment contract containing homophobic and transphobic clauses that it required all students to sign before returning to school. The public outrage was intense, and the contract was eventually withdrawn, but the spotlight on this issue revealed some shocking truths about this school and the church that runs it. Tim was one of the first people to bring this unfolding scandal to the attention of the national media via his Instagram account, but no-one was more vocal about the issue than comedian Christian Hull, who took a break from screaming obscenities into his merchandise and dressing up in funny wigs on social media to help draw attention to the outrageous and ultimately illegal acts this school was trying to carry out. For this very special episode, Christian joins Tim & Lauren to chat about the drama of the past week in what is part podcast and part therapy session. You will not believe the truth about what's been going on at this school.....
Last week, there was public outrage after it emerged that Citipointe Christian College in Brisbane sent a lengthy contract to parents demanding that their children denounce homosexuality and follow 'traditional' gender roles. The school subsequently withdrew the contract, but it has left many of us asking how this kind of overt discrimination is even legal in Australia? The Quicky speaks to three expert advocates for equality to find out what if any laws exist to protect all Australians from discrimination of any kind, and how the Government's controversial Religious Discrimination Bill could make the situation much worse. It's a jam packed show today, with two big conversations. Joe Rogan's latest controversy is hard to argue against; after a video showed him constantly using the ‘N' word on his podcast over the past 12 years. But is he actually too popular to ever face real consequences? The Citipointe Christian College in Brisbane tried to sneakily introduce a new enrollment contract that discriminated against queer and trans students. We chat about religious and sexual impact in education and society, as politicians get set to vote on a hugely important religious discrimination bill this week. Citipointe Christian College doubles down on controversial contract The contract notes the bible ties gender identity to biological sex and does not make a distinction between gender and biological sex. “Whilst each student is individually valued and equally encouraged to pursue opportunities in both academic and co-curricular activities, I/we agree that, where distinctions are made between male and female (inclusive of, but not limited to, for example, uniforms, presentation, terminology, use of facilities and amenities, participation in sporting events and accommodation) such distinctions will be applied on the basis of the individual's biological sex,” the contract states. The document also brands homosexuality “sinful, offensive and destructive”, while also lumping it into the same category as paedophilia and incest. “We believe that any form of sexual immortality (including but not limited to; adultery, fornication, homosexual acts, bisexual act, incest, paedophilia and pornography) is sinful and offensive to God and is destructive to human relationships and society,” the school document states. "We are seeking to maintain our Christian ethos and to give parents and students the right to make an informed choice about whether they can support and embrace our approach to Christian education." Pastor Mulheran said contrary to what was being reported, students would not be expelled simply for being homosexual or transgender. "Citipointe does not judge students on their sexuality or gender identity and we would not make a decision about their enrolment in the College simply on that basis," the statement said. "We believe each individual is created in the image of God, with dignity and worth equal to every other person. We unequivocally love and respect all people regardless of their lifestyle and choices, even if those choices are different to our beliefs and practice." So we finally have a Christian organisation in Australia that will stand up for Biblical teaching. That is my opinion.
