This episode is one from the archives where I'm joined by Emma and Eleanor, founders of The Reconnected, to explore one of the most overlooked aspects of healing: the nervous system. This conversation was recorded when What Heals was Raw Health Rebel Podcast, but in many ways it feels even more relevant now.We talk about parenting, trauma, breathwork, connected play and why so many of us spend years trying to heal our children whilst completely neglecting ourselves.Emma and Eleanor share how they came to this work, why they believe the parent's nervous system is central to the wellbeing of the whole family, and how healing ourselves can create profound shifts in those around us.We also explore why parenting can be so triggering, what our children may be reflecting back to us, and how conscious connection can transform family relationships. This is not about becoming a perfect parent. It is about understanding that healing is relational, that our bodies remember more than we consciously realise, and that there are simple, powerful ways to reconnect with ourselves and our children. If you've ever felt burnt out, overwhelmed by parenting, curious about nervous system healing, or wondered why your child seems to trigger every unresolved part of you, this is a conversation worth listening to.Key takeawaysWhy the parent's nervous system matters so muchHow breathwork can support emotional healing and regulationThe difference between intellectual understanding and nervous system healingWhy parenting can be one of life's greatest catalysts for growthHow our bodies hold experiences, even when we can't consciously remember themWhy healing ourselves often creates change in our childrenThe importance of co-regulation within familiesHow connected play can deepen understanding between parent and childWe also talk aboutConscious parenting and family healingStrong-willed and sensitive childrenWhy modern parenting can feel so overwhelmingThe limitations of talk therapy for some peopleStored stress, trauma and the nervous systemHow children communicate through playWhy children need to feel truly seenThe connection between parenting, self-awareness and healingHow community supports nervous system healingResources mentionedThe Reconnectedhttps://www.thereconnected.com/The Reconnected on InstagramSend us Fan MailJoin Lisa's new global homeopathy community, The Atrium, here. This episode is one from the archives where I'm joined by homeopaths and Family Constellations facilitators Poppy Altmann and Naphia Reggiani, alongside my friend and colleague Monique Carmen. This conversation was recorded when What Heals was Raw Health Rebel Podcast, shortly after I attended my first Family Constellations workshop and came away completely blown open.We go into one of the most fascinating areas of healing. Family systems and inherited trauma. The patterns we carry without even realising they may not have started with us.Poppy and Naphia explain what Family Constellations are, how the work began, what actually happens in a workshop and why simply seeing what has been hidden can sometimes create a profound shift. This is not about blame or endlessly analysing the past. It is about looking at the wider systems we belong to, and asking whether healing sometimes begins when we give something its rightful place. If you've ever felt stuck in a repeating pattern, sensed there was something deeper moving through your family line, or been curious about Family Constellations, this is a conversation worth listening to.Key takeawaysWhat Family Constellations are and how they workInherited trauma and hidden family dynamicsWhy previous generations may still influence the presentThe role of the ‘knowing field'How healing can happen even as a participantBelonging, order and inclusion within family systemsThe connection between Family Constellations and homeopathyWe also talk aboutBert Hellinger and the origins of the workRepresenting family members in a constellationWhy sceptics can still have powerful experiencesHealth constellations and chronic illnessRelationships, money and work patternsThe Netflix series Another SelfWhy group work can feel surprisingly safeResources mentionedPoppy Altmannhttps://www.poppyaltmann.com/Naphia Reggianihttps://naphiareggiani.co.uk/Barbara Morgan – Coming Home: A First Step into the World of Family ConstellationsNetflix: Another Self Send us Fan MailJoin Lisa's new global homeopathy community, The Atrium, here. This week on the Jewellers Academy Podcast, Jessica Rose is joined by jeweller Kelly Twigg for a conversation about what really happens when you commit to a year of jewellery training. Kelly completed the Diploma in Silver Jewellery and is returning for another Diploma this year, and in this episode she shares the difference structured learning has made to her jewellery skills, confidence, creativity and business. Together, Jess and Kelly explore the unexpected benefits of doing a Diploma: from improving technical ability and building a portfolio to finding accountability, making jewellery friends and creating space to learn just for yourself. They discuss: • Why structure helps you progress faster as a jeweller • How accountability keeps creativity moving • The role of mentoring and community in online learning • Building confidence and overcoming imposter syndrome • Growing your jewellery business through stronger making skills • Why developing your creativity matters even if you're not building a business • The surprising friendships that come from learning alongside others If joining a Diploma has been on your mind, this conversation might help you decide whether now is your time. Enrolment for a September 2026 start ends on Fri 12th June 26. Find out more about Jewellers Academy Diploma programmes at jewellersacademy.com/diplomas
One of my favourite things about our Diploma Open Days is seeing who joins us. This time we had jewellers at all different stages of their journey. Some people had never soldered before. Others had been making jewellery for 15 years. Some already had businesses and felt ready to take their work to the next level. And as always, the questions were brilliant. This isn't one of our usual podcast episodes. Instead, we're giving you the chance to listen in on our recent Diploma in Silver Jewellery Open Day. If you couldn't join us live, this is your opportunity to hear the conversation, get a feel for the course and hear the questions other jewellers asked as they explored whether the Diploma was right for them. Inside this bonus episode, we cover: • How the Diploma in Silver Jewellery works • The projects and techniques you'll learn throughout the year • How assessment and certification work • The support available to help you stay motivated and make progress • What online jewellery learning really looks like Plus I answered questions asked live on the day including: • Is this Diploma suitable if I already have experience? • Should I start with Silver, Fine or Advanced Jewellery Diploma? • Will I learn to make settings or use pre-made settings? • What if I'm worried about the cost of working with gold? • Do I need to buy all new tools? • Can I use my own stones and design ideas? • Do I need a dedicated jewellery studio? • Can I pay monthly and change payment options later? Whether you're just starting out or looking to develop your jewellery skills further, we hope this gives you a useful insight into what it's really like to study on the Diploma in Silver Jewellery. Environment. Toxic load. Fragrance. Household products. Why some symptoms keep returning. And what happens when the body is still being exposed to something it cannot tolerate.Ashley shares her extraordinary health story, from becoming severely unwell in her early twenties to discovering constitutional homeopathy and completely changing the trajectory of her life.We talk about how she moved into homeopathic practice, why she became so interested in the everyday products people were using in their homes and how maintaining causes can quietly block progress. This is not about fear or perfection. It's about asking a deeper question: what conditions are we asking the body to heal in?If you've ever felt stuck in a case, wondered why symptoms keep returning, or been curious about the link between homeopathy and environmental load, this is a conversation worth listening to.Key takeawaysWhy maintaining causes can stop healing from holdingEnvironmental toxins, fragrance and household productsConstitutional homeopathy and Ashley's personal healing storyWhy some symptoms may be warning signs rather than the real problemThe importance of looking beyond diagnosis and into the whole personWhy “clean” or “natural” products are not always as clean as they appearHow everyday exposures may quietly add to the body's burdenWhy laundry detergent and air fresheners are often a good place to startWe also talk aboutPANS, PANDAS and the pressure to chase a diagnosisWhy homeopathy does not prescribe by diagnosis aloneBioenergetic testing and Ashley's clinical observationsThe “fragrance loophole” and why scent can be so pervasiveGreenwashing in non-toxic productsThe difference between sensitivity and the body's warning systemSymptom suppression and why rashes may matterThe frustration of treating while the obstacle remainsWhy healing sometimes requires changing the environment tooSend us Fan MailJoin Lisa's new global homeopathy community, The Atrium, here. In this episode of The Leaders Kitbag, I explore one of the most common and draining patterns I see when working with leaders, moving from one meeting straight into the next with no pause, no reset, and no time to think. While back-to-back meetings might feel unavoidable, the reality is they come at a cost. They narrow our focus, reduce our ability to be present, and limit our capacity to learn and improve. I share why this way of working is so problematic, and more importantly, what you can do about it, even if you feel like your diary isn't fully in your control. Because the difference between good and great meetings often comes down to what you do in the minute before the next one begins. In this episode, you will learn: Why back-to-back meetings keep you in a reactive, narrow mindset How constantly jumping between meetings impacts your presence and effectiveness The hidden cost of losing reflection time between back-to-back meetings Practical ways to create space, even in a packed diary How small changes to your meetings can increase your influence as a leader Ben's Key Takeaways When you move straight from one meeting to the next, you carry over stress, distraction, and unfinished thinking. This leaves you physically present, but mentally elsewhere. This means that creating a deliberate break between back-to-back meetings - even just 60 seconds - allows you to reset your focus and choose how you show up next. Which is key. Because your state sets the tone. The energy and mindset you bring into a meeting are contagious. Managing your transition between meetings doesn't just improve your performance, it impacts everyone else's too. Want to learn more about how to be a leader? If you're someone who feels constantly busy, moving from one thing to the next with very little time to pause and think, then this episode is for you.In this episode of The Leader's Kitbag, I explore why reflection is not a “nice to have” but an essential leadership skill.Too often, leaders prioritise action over thinking, filling their days with meetings, emails and outputs, while neglecting the very thing that drives real growth - learning from experience.I share a common challenge I hear from leaders: even when they create space to reflect, it either gets taken over by other priorities or feels uncomfortable, even indulgent. But the reality is simple - experience alone doesn't make us better. It's reflected experience that drives improvement.I also introduce two practical shifts to help you build reflection into your routine, along with a simple framework you can use immediately to start learning more effectively from your day-to-day leadership.Because leadership isn't just about what we do - it's about how we learn from what we do.In this episode, you will learn: Why reflection is a critical (and often overlooked) leadership skillHow constant busyness prevents real growth and learningTwo simple shifts to help you create and protect time to reflectA practical three-question framework to improve your leadership through reflectionBen's Key Takeaway As leaders, we're often conditioned to prioritise action over thinking. But without reflection, we risk repeating the same patterns and mistakes over and over again.Taking time to pause, review and learn isn't a luxury - it's a discipline.By protecting time to reflect and being intentional about how we use it, we can accelerate our growth, make better decisions and lead more effectively over time.Because ultimately, leadership isn't just about experience. It's about learning from that experience.Want to learn more about how to be a leader?Enrolment is now open for the cohort of my ‘Leader in Me' programme. If you're ready to:Build confidence and capability as a leaderBreak free from firefighting and become more proactiveLearn how to inspire your team and deliver results…Secure your place on the programme here.

Using the findings from Digistorm's 2025/26 State of K–12 School Admissions Report, they discuss how softening demand and growing enrolment pressure are shifting admissions from reactive management to data-informed planning. This requires Heads to sharpen their positioning and take a more intentional approach to the parent journey. We're approaching the 4-month mark since the introduction of the new Autoenrolment scheme, now known as MyFuture Funds. The pension savings scheme obliges workers on lower wages to start saving for their retirement by deducting a small amount from their salaries, which is topped up by their employers and the State. Although Ireland was one of the last countries in Europe to introduce such a scheme, it's a big undertaking, and we don't yet know what the official take-up has been. It comes as the government is hoping to get us to save less and invest more through a proposed new Savings & Investment scheme. Shane O'Farrell is Director of Employer Solutions with Irish Life and joined Joe Lynam on the show this morning.
In this episode of The Leader's Kitbag, I explore a simple but powerful idea that can transform the way you lead: you can't lead effectively if you're constantly in the thick of the action. Filmed at Berkhamsted Castle - a place steeped in history following the events after 1066 - I reflect on how great leaders throughout history positioned themselves not in the chaos of battle, but above it. From that vantage point, they could see clearly, think strategically, and make better decisions. And the same principle applies to us today. Too many leaders get pulled into the day-to-day. Firefighting, problem-solving, and doing the work themselves. But when we're constantly in the weeds, we lose perspective. We stop thinking ahead. And instead of leading, we start reacting. That said, leadership isn't about staying distant either. There are moments when we must step in - to stabilise, to support, and to shift momentum. The real skill lies in knowing where you need to be, and when. Because our greatest value as leaders rarely comes from doing the work. It comes from creating the conditions for others to succeed, making sound decisions, and maintaining a clear view of the bigger picture. In this episode, you will learn: Why being constantly “in the fight” limits your effectiveness as a leader The importance of perspective and taking a strategic vantage point When leaders should step in - and when they should step back How to balance involvement with oversight A simple question to help you refocus your leadership in real time Ben's Key Takeaway If you're always busy doing, solving, and firefighting, it's worth asking whether you're truly leading. Leadership is about perspective. It's about stepping back far enough to see what's really going on - and stepping in only when it genuinely adds value. So build the habit of pausing and asking yourself: Where do I need to be right now? And where do I add the most value? Because the answer to those two questions will often determine the difference between reacting… and leading. Want to learn more about how to be a leader? Time management is something we talk about constantly as leaders. But the reality is… time isn't something we can actually manage. It keeps moving, regardless of what we do.In this episode of The Leaders Kitbag, I explore a more effective and sustainable approach - shifting our focus away from managing time and towards managing our energy and attention.Because when we're constantly juggling competing priorities, trying to keep everything in the air, something will eventually drop. And more often than not, it drops at the exact moment our energy is at its lowest.Drawing on insights from tools like Strengthscope, I explain why understanding what energises and drains you is critical to performing and leading at your best.Your strengths aren't just what you're good at; they're the activities that give you energy. And when we ignore that, we create what I call the double-drain effect -tackling energy-draining tasks at the point in the day when we're already fatigued. The result?Lower performance, more mistakes, and work that feels far harder than it needs to.Instead, I share two simple but powerful questions that can transform how you structure your day, your week, and ultimately your leadership impact.Because leadership isn't about doing more. It's about being deliberate with where and how you invest your energy. In this episode, you will learn: Why time management is a flawed concept for leaders. The difference between managing time and managing energy. How your strengths are directly linked to what energises you. What the double-drain effect is and how it impacts performance. Two simple questions to help you align your work with your energy.Ben's Key Takeaway We can't manage time, but we can absolutely manage our energy, focus and attention. And that's where the real opportunity lies. When we understand when we're at our best, and what gives us energy, we can start to make far better decisions about how we structure our days. That means aligning our most important work with our natural energy peaks. It means being more intentional about when we tackle the tasks that drain us.And ultimately, it means leading and performing in a way that is more effective, more sustainable, and far less exhausting.Because leadership isn't about keeping everything in the air. It's about being deliberate about where you put your energy.Want to learn more about how to be a leader?Enrolment is now open for the cohort of my ‘Leader in Me' programme. If you're ready to:Build confidence and capability as a leaderBreak free from firefighting and become more proactiveLearn how to inspire your team and deliver results…Register your interest for the programme here.
Strong growth in university enrolment numbers is bringing challenges for the tertiary sector. Seven of our eight universities are up on last year in some form, with Auckland recording its biggest-ever Semester One intake. Universities New Zealand Chief Executive Chris Whelan says the growth is in line with their forecasts, but it's unfortunately above where Government projections had been and where funding is. He told Mike Hosking two thirds of all jobs in the economy now require you to have at least two years of post-school education. Whelan says higher education needs funding, so that people are able to get the necessary qualifications, and the skills and knowledge that comes with them. Work–life balance is something we talk about a lot. Many of us say we want better work–life balance. Many organisations encourage it. And yet for many leaders, it still feels frustratingly difficult to achieve.Part of the problem is that we often chase the idea of work–life balance without ever really defining what it means for us personally. In this episode of The Leader's Kitbag, I explore why work–life balance can feel so elusive and why measuring it day by day or week by week often sets leaders up to feel like they're falling short.Instead, I suggest taking a longer-term perspective on work–life balance and looking at how aligned your life is over periods of time rather than individual days.More importantly, I explain why achieving meaningful work–life balance starts with being clear about your core values - the things that truly matter most in your life and leadership.Because work–life balance isn't about splitting time equally between work and life. It's about aligning your time, energy and attention with what matters most to you.I also share a simple reflection exercise that helps leaders clarify their priorities and regularly check whether they are actually living in line with them.Because like pilots navigating a long flight, we will inevitably drift off course from time to time. But with the right waypoints in place, we can make small adjustments that bring us back on track and help us maintain a healthier and more sustainable form of work–life balance. In this episode, you will learn: Why work–life balance often feels difficult to achieve for leaders and managersWhy measuring work–life balance day by day can be misleadingWhy taking a longer-term perspective gives a more realistic view of balance and wellbeingHow identifying your core values helps define what work–life balance actually means for youA simple reflection exercise to help you realign your time, energy and leadership prioritiesBen's Key Takeaway Work–life balance isn't about perfectly balancing every day or every week.Life and leadership simply don't work that way. Some periods will demand more from work. Others will require more focus on family, health, relationships or personal priorities. The real question is whether, over time, we are living in line with the things that matter most to us.That's why clarity on our values is so important. Our values become the waypoints that help guide our decisions about how we spend our time, energy and attention. And like any long journey, we will occasionally drift off course. But if we take time to check our direction and make small adjustments along the way, we can ensure we stay broadly aligned with what matters most.Because sustainable work–life balance isn't about perfection. It's about intentional alignment over time.Want to learn more about how to be a leader? There's a moment when you realise it's not just a ‘bad term' at school. It's mornings that feel impossible.A child who won't go.Or can't go.And suddenly the question changes from'how do we fix this?'to'where do we go now?'WHAT WE COVER– What actually happens when mainstream school stops working– Why some children aren't ‘failing school' — the system is failing them– The reality of alternative education (and the myths that scare parents)– Why behaviour often looks worse before safety is built– What smaller, relationship-based learning environments do differently– How to know if an alternative pathway might be right for your child– Why some kids return to mainstream — and some never shouldWHY THIS EPISODE MATTERSThere's a gap no one talks about.Between‘just try another school'and‘we can't do this anymore'And most parents fall straight into itwith no map. This episode gives you language for that momentand shows you what actually exists on the other side.WHAT ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKENot a ‘last resort'.Not a room full of ‘problem kids'.But often:– smaller class sizes– built-in sensory supports (not earned, not restricted)– flexible timetables– relationship-first teaching– success measured beyond academicsWhere safety comes before complianceand connection comes before curriculum.WHAT PARENTS OFTEN DON'T GET TOLDAlternative settings aren't easier. They're different.– Enrolment is often selective and thorough– Not every child is the right fit for every setting– There are waitlists– And options are limited depending on locationBut when it worksit can completely change a child's trajectory.THIS EPISODE IS FOR YOU IF– Your child is anxious, refusing, or shutting down at school– You've tried multiple schools and nothing is improving– You've been told ‘this is just how school is'– You're wondering if there are other pathways– You're scared of making the wrong call
If your dance studio enrolments are lower than you expected this term, this episode is a practical reset.March is clarity month. The energy has settled. The numbers are now telling you something. Instead of reacting emotionally, I walk you through exactly what I would do if I were sitting in your chair. Not hype. Not random internet advice. Real strategy. Here's the order I'd follow:1. Define the Real Gap How many students down are you? What does that mean in revenue? Which age groups or classes are affected? “We're down” is a feeling. Clarity creates direction.2. Check Retention Before Chasing More Leads Before increasing marketing, I'd assess re-enrolment, onboarding, early-term check-ins and class stability. Stabilise before you scale.3. Activate Mid-Term Momentum Many families commit around Weeks 5–6 once school routines settle. A structured short-term pass, clear messaging and confident integration can convert this second window.4. Refine Conversion Before Spending on Ads If your trial-to-enrolment rate is under 60 percent, I wouldn't increase ad spend. I'd tighten enquiry response time, follow-up, trial experience and next-step clarity.5. Strengthen Team Energy Parents feel leadership. I'd re-align teacher expectations, communication tone and studio culture. Growth follows stability.6. Set a 30-Day Focus One number. One timeframe. One strategy. Close the gap calmly instead of trying to fix the whole year. What I would not do: Panic discount. Add five new programs. Reshuffle the timetable mid-term. Copy someone else's promotion.Enrolment dips are rarely just a marketing problem. They're a systems, retention and leadership clarity signal. When foundations are strong, dips become adjustments, not emergencies. If you want the framework I use to stabilise and increase enrolments right now:Download your Reset Guide HereAnd if you're ready for tailored strategy, deeper clarity and sustainable scale:Click the link to Apply for the MastermindClarity first. It's just too easy to fall into the game of creating your art and producing your results because you're afraid that if you don't, you'll be forgotten. Or you'll fall behind. But creating and producing from this frame of energy means you're scared, not strong. And consumers of your output feel the emotion you're feeling when you make the work. The real game to play is one where your work influences, affects and uplifts multiple generations. Short-term producers are consumed by trends, algorithms and immediate visibility. Creative giants (like Tolstoy, Salinger and Monet, for example) did the work to honor gift. And to express their voice. There may come a point in your coaching business where on paper, everything is going pretty well. You have clients. You're getting results. Your niche “makes sense.” And yet… Something feels off. In this episode, I'm talking about what it really means when you start to feel like you've outgrown your coaching niche — and how to evolve without blowing up your website, scrapping your SEO, or having a full identity crisis. Because here's the truth: Outgrowing a niche isn't failure. It's often growth. I walk you through: The subtle signs you're feeling misaligned (resentment, depletion, creative boredom) Why niching is about clarity — not a life sentence How I personally test new ideas and programs without rebranding everything The difference between being pushed by frustration and pulled by expansion Why you're absolutely allowed to have more than one niche And how your coaching identity — not your niche — is the real anchor in your business I also share how this evolution has shown up in my own work over the years — from burnout coaching to alcohol work, to life transitions, to business coaching — and how I've allowed multiple niches to coexist under one consistent brand and philosophy. And if you're feeling the pull toward a new niche but questioning whether you have the skill set or confidence to support a broader range of clients, this is exactly why I created the Confident Coaching Skills Intensive (CCSI). The CCSI is designed to deepen your coaching confidence so you're not limited by one narrow topic. It helps you expand your range, coach more flexibly, and trust yourself in new territory — so when you feel that evolution happening, you can move toward it intelligently instead of reactively. Enrolment is closing soon, and it's a small, intimate room. If this episode resonates, that might be your sign. Bottom line? You don't need to burn your business down because you're bored. But you also don't need to ignore the boredom. It might be the beginning of your next great coaching offer. Episode Resources:
A surge in enrolments has Auckland University's campus buzzing. Total semester one enrolments have topped 47,000, up 8% from the same time last year. Undergraduate numbers are driving much of the growth rising 10%, which is nearly three thousand more students. Deputy Vice Chancellor of Education Sarah Young told Mike Hosking that several factors are driving the increase. She says more students go to university when unemployment is high, while they've put a lot of work into attracting international students. We heard this morning that primary school enrolment has fallen by 6 thousand, 500 in the past year –This is the biggest decline we have seen in recent years. But is this just down to the declining population in primary school aged children or is there something that can be done to turn this figure around and save small rural schools here? Leaders tend to get attracted to external factors and thus get disempowered once it is gone. They were driven from outside motivation and not enrol on the possibility of getting motivated from within themselves. In this episode, the focus will be on differentiating attraction and enrolment, why attraction is a trap for leaders and coaches, and how enrolment helps you to be continuously driven. This episode will also highlight how attraction and enrolment tends to be confusing, the nature of attraction and why people tend to lean towards it, and how you can develop yourself into enrolment. Take a leap towards shifting into enrolment as this episode will also share powerful practices and guide questions for you to put into action. Discover your blind spots and embrace them as a leader. Do not miss this chance to learn how to improve as a leader through this episode.

Today, girl… we're not talking about your workout. We're not talking about sets, reps, zones, or checklists. We're talking about one rep — the most important thing you've never been taught. Because I can tell everything about your training, your standards, your nervous system, your confidence, and the story you hold in your body… from a single rep. And today I'm teaching you why owning one rep is the beginning of every result you want — your strength, your visible muscle, your body recomposition, your power. This episode? Honestly — it might be the most important one I've ever recorded. If you want to get strong, build delicious muscle, move without pain, and actually change your body? You need to learn how to own the rep. This is where everything begins. Let's go. KEY TAKEAWAYS Most women chase volume, sweat, heart rate zones, and heavier loads. But strength, muscle growth, and body recomposition begin with how you move through one rep — not the number on the bar. Your setup tells me everything: your tension, your mechanics, your confidence, your fatigue, your stress, your safety, your sequencing. Before the bar even moves. There are 5 phases of every rep — and each determines your results. Setup → Initiation → Transition → Return → FinishIf you rush, collapse, panic, or lose tension in any phase? You lose the rep. Technique IS strength. You don't get strong then clean up your technique.Your technique creates your strength. Your execution determines your capacity. The transition — the hardest inch of the movement — exposes everything: stability, tendon stiffness, fear, confidence, and your ability to tolerate discomfort. Women who get strong are the ones who stay here. Beauty in movement = safety in the nervous system. Fluidity, smoothness, and control signal safety.Safety signals adaptation.Adaptation builds strength and visible muscle. When you own one rep, you own your entire training life. One rep at a time is how you build strength, elegance, power, and the body you love. POWERFUL QUOTES “I can tell everything about your training, your standards, and your nervous system from one rep — before the bar even moves.” “Strength doesn't begin with weight. Muscle doesn't begin with weight. It all begins with awareness.” “You don't rise to the weight — you fall to your level of technique.” “Fluidity is the marker of mastery. When you're strong, it looks beautiful.” “When you own one rep, you own your strength. When you own your strength, you own your body. And when you own your body, you own your damn life.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Dave Tate (EliteFTS) The Women Who Train Survey Is this you? From today, employers can register for the new pension auto-enrollment scheme. To discuss this, Minister for social protection, Dara Calleary.
The Government is being forced to bring in emergency regulations to stop companies attempting to subvert the new auto-enrolment pension. About 750,000 workers are set to be signed up to the My Future Fund auto-enrolment pension from early January. It has emerged, however, that some companies are trying to avoid having their staff signed up to My Future Fund because they do not want to handle the administrative burden and cost involved. To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Ivan Dunne, Head of Financial Services with Campion Insurance. Picture (c) ADragan from Getty Images via Canva

Tommy Corbett from Carey Corbett Financial Solutions was back in Clare FM to tell us everything you need to know on the auto-enrolment pension scheme in Ireland.
Ireland's new auto-enrolment pension system is coming in 2026, with most of the public's focus on the January start date. However, Caroline Rowan, Head of Retirement Consulting at Aon Ireland, believes that it is actually now, the beginning of November, that is the critical window for the auto-enrolment rollout.
In this episode of Pensions in a Pod, UK and Irish pensions specialists David McKeating and Louise McRae join Jeremy Goodwin to explore Ireland's upcoming automatic enrolment scheme, launching in January 2026.
In this week's episode, Jessica Rose and Anna Campbell explore the unexpected advantages behind the rising costs of silver and gold. While many jewellers worry about affordability and holding stock, Jessica and Anna reveal that these changes can actually strengthen your business and the handmade jewellery industry as a whole. They discuss seven key benefits, including: - The increased inherent value of your jewellery - customers now see handmade pieces as not only beautiful but a smart long-term investment. - A boost in the value of any metal stock you already own - some jewellers have seen their materials rise by around 50%, leading to higher profits when priced correctly. - Rising prices encourage better pricing confidence and healthier profit margins across the industry, moving away from undercharging. - More customers are looking to resell, recycle or redesign their old jewellery - creating new opportunities for bespoke services and lasting client relationships. - Despite higher prices, demand for gold and silver jewellery remains strong, driven by design, desire, and personal connection—not just cost. - Small independent jewellers now stand out more clearly from high-street brands, as mass-produced copies become harder to make in precious metals. - Hallmarking gains value, giving customers reassurance and proof of authenticity as they invest in higher-priced pieces. The episode ends with a powerful reminder: adopting a positive mindset and valuing your role as a maker is key to growth. Now is the time to embrace opportunity, build trust, and create jewellery with confidence. In this week's episode of the Jewellers Academy Podcast, host Jessica Rose is joined by Anna Campbell for a look at common mistakes jewellers make when growing their business and how to overcome them. They also introduce the Jewellery Business Academy (JBA) a year-long programme designed to give jewellers the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive. The 1 year Jewellery Business Academy, starting on Monday 5th January 2026, is built to transform how jewellers run their businesses. What began as an intensive eight-week bootcamp has now evolved into a year-long experience with weekly training, one to one mentoring, expert-led sessions, and monthly themes – making business learning both manageable and sustainable. Whether you're just starting out or have been running your jewellery business for years, this episode shares challenges you may recognise and shows you how to overcome them. 8 Common Mistakes Jewellers Make (and How the Academy Helps) 1. Lack of Industry-Specific Knowledge Business advice can feel too generic – but jewellers face unique challenges. The JBA delivers jewellery-focused training on hallmarking, pricing, trade shows, collections, commissions, and more. Industry experts like Anna Campbell (email marketing), Karen Young (photography, marketing), Elin Horgan (wholesale, design), and Emma René (branding, visual merchandising) bring real-world expertise directly to you. 2. Overwhelm Running a jewellery business can feel like spinning too many plates at once. The JBAy reduces overwhelm by focusing on one topic per month - from pricing and finance to email marketing, launching, and branding - so you can take things step by step. 3. Procrastination Accountability matters. Through monthly group calls in small, supportive cohorts, you'll share progress, discuss challenges, and stay motivated to complete tasks and hit your goals. 4. Isolation Being a maker can feel lonely. That's why the JBA includes a private community where you can connect with fellow jewellers, ask questions, and celebrate wins together so you never have to feel like you're doing it alone. 5. Lack of Confidence Investing in your growth builds confidence. The JBA is designed as a long-term investment in you and your business, helping you feel capable and empowered as a business owner. 6. Fear & Imposter Syndrome Many jewellers doubt whether they're “qualified” enough to run a business. JBA is CPD accredited (new for 2026), meaning you'll earn a recognised certification that adds credibility and reassurance to your skills. 7. Lack of Strategy Without a plan, it's easy to get stuck in day-to-day tasks. Over the course of the year, you'll develop a Jewellery Business Growth Plan - a structured, personalised roadmap that clarifies your vision, sets goals, and keeps you moving forward. 8. Self-Doubt Sometimes you just need expert eyes on your business. With one-to-one mentoring sessions, you'll be matched with specialists in areas like social media, wholesale, or branding, giving you tailored advice and clarity to take confident action. In this week's episode of the Jewellers Academy Podcast, Jessica Rose talks with jeweller and community member Iain Sainsbury to explore his journey through the Advanced Stone Setting Masterclasses program, an advanced training series designed for jewellers ready to refine their fine jewellery and stone-setting skills. Iain shares how he discovered jewellery-making after career burnout, and why the Masterclasses became the perfect next step in his learning. From tackling the challenges of piercing and decorative collets with Anelia Kuprina, to pushing his stone-setting skills further with Scott McIntyre, and making tiara wedding rings with April Dace, Iain reflects on the breakthroughs, struggles, and valuable lessons he's learnt along the way. This conversation highlights not just the technical skills taught in the program, but also the importance of community, accountability, and feedback in the learning journey. Iain talks about his philosophy of 'slow making,' the benefits of creating prototypes, and how he has been able to transfer his new skills into his own sand-casting practice. Whether you're curious about the Masterclasses, looking for inspiration to challenge yourself, or eager to hear from a fellow jeweller's perspective, this episode offers insights, encouragement, and practical takeaways. Jerry is joined by the managing director at Rockwell Financial Management, Robert Whelan. They discuss to Ireland’s long-awaited auto-enrolment pension scheme, "My Future Fund", which will begin on the 1 January 2026. It’s one of the most significant pension reforms in decades. Approximately 800,000 workers will benefit from auto-enrolment, primarily those aged 23 to 60, and earning over €20,000 without an occupational pension. Robert Whelan says pensions will now be a key part of an employer’s offer to employees.
Guest: Kris Rushowy, Toronto Star reporter It's back-to-school season and Ontario universities are packed like never before. A record number of more than 84,000 first-year students are starting this fall. But even with record enrolment, schools are facing an $80 million shortfall. For years, international students have been the financial safety net, paying up to six times the tuition of Ontario students. Now, with Ottawa tightening immigration rules and visas harder to get, those numbers are dropping. Universities say the system is already in distress. Programs are being cut, staff laid off, and almost half are running deficits. And now, with higher demand from local students, there is even less money to teach them. We're re-releasing this episode because the questions it raises are more relevant than ever. In 2025, as technology transforms how students learn and entire industries evolve, the role of educators is shifting rapidly. Classrooms are becoming more digital, expectations more complex, and the pressure to keep students engaged—and prepared for the future—has never been greater. Yet, many teachers are stepping away. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly half of public education employees who leave the field aren't retiring or laid off. They're choosing to resign. Amid ongoing challenges like burnout, staffing shortages, and shifting school environments, educators are asking: How do we keep going—and keep growing? That's why we're revisiting this conversation with 2023 National Teacher of the Year Rebecka Peterson. A math teacher from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rebecka speaks with warmth, clarity, and an unshakable belief in the power of human connection. Her story is a reminder that joy, purpose, and sustainability in teaching are still possible—even in a time of change. Why this encore? Because Rebecka's reflections on resilience, creativity, and care offer both inspiration and practical wisdom for anyone invested in the future of education Episode Highlights + Timestamps: 00:00 — Why great teachers leave (and why it matters) 01:30 — Rebecka's immigrant journey & early love for teaching 06:00 — "I'm not a math person" and the cultural damage of that phrase 09:00 — How Rebecka builds trust: "Kids spell love T-I-M-E" 12:00 — The math teacher shortage: only 25 graduates in her entire state 15:00 — The "One Good Thing" blog that saved her teaching career 19:00 — From burnout to National Teacher of the Year 24:00 — What every teacher (and school leader) should be asking 28:00 — Advice to teachers on the brink of burnout 31:00 — The power of reflection, systems, and 1% growth Meet Rebecka Peterson: Rebecka is a high school math teacher at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the 2023 National Teacher of the Year. This is an encore episode — and with good reason. As the school year winds down and summer approaches, the “summer slide” — the loss of academic progress over the break — becomes a very real concern once again. Without intentional learning opportunities, students can lose ground they've worked hard to gain, making each new year harder than the last. In this conversation, Kevin revisits a timely discussion with Aaron Dworkin, CEO of the National Summer Learning Association, about how the right summer programs don't just prevent learning loss — they help students come back stronger, more confident, and ready for what's next. Because summer doesn't have to be a setback. It can be a springboard. This is what I know. Meet Aaron Aaron Dworkin is the CEO of the National Summer Learning Association, which works to ensure all young people in America, especially the most vulnerable, can access and afford a high-quality summer learning experience every year. —----------------------------------------------- K12's innovative programs give students a head start on their healthcare career journey.
