Cloud DX CEO Robert Kaul joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share exciting updates with Proactive regarding the renewal of Master Deployment Agreements with paramedic services in Ontario. These agreements, spanning 12 months with an Ontario County Paramedic Service and 24 months with the Guelph Wellington - City of Guelph Paramedic Service, signify the continued partnership between Cloud DX and these healthcare providers. In Ontario, Community Paramedic Services leverage Cloud DX's Connected Health Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) services to offer daily monitoring of vital signs, physical symptoms, and chronic conditions to seniors. Through the Cloud DX mobile app, patients can interact with paramedics, facilitating close oversight and empowering patients to manage their own care effectively. Of particular note is the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care (CPLTC) program, fully funded by the Ontario provincial government to provide additional care for seniors before admission into long-term care facilities. The recent announcement of an additional $174 million CAD in funding to expand the CPLTC program from 2024 onwards underscores the importance and growth potential of this initiative. Kaul emphasized that contract renewals are a significant sales metric for Cloud DX, demonstrating the company's ability to continue serving satisfied clients effectively. Our conversation today took place in the conference room at Winchester Fire & Rescue's administrative offices. Joining me to chat was Jeremy Luttrell, Deputy Chief of Community Risk Reduction and the Fire Marshal along with Shannon Ganoe, Winchester's Community Paramedic. Jeremy gave an overview of the structure and operations of the Winchester Fire and Rescue, defined Community Risk Reduction, and explained several of their programs. Monday, January 15 kicks off Community Risk Reduction Awareness Week, so Jeremy elaborated on various aspects including education, engineering, enforcement, economic incentive, and emergency responses. The discussion included mentions of a program called Community Connect that helps the community share valuable information like handicap or pet presence in a household in the case of emergencies; and, Remembering When that offers a home safety assessment to those in the senior community or those in a high risk category for fires or falls. In the second segment, Jeremy gave some history for how the community paramedic program came into existence and talked about how unique it is to this part of the state. Shannon shared her past experiences as an EMT, touching on the lack of aftercare in the system. She then explained her new role as Community Paramedic and gave examples of what that looks like out in the field. Apologies for the delay, 2020 is taking a toll on all of us. This one was worth the wait! Value based health strategies have a habit of sounding like corporate boardroom chess, pretty far from reality for municipal public safety agencies... at first glance. Williamson County, Texas is a standout example of how a Community Paramedic program within a 3rd service model EMS agency can (and has) leveraged relationships and data to move beyond grant funded start-up into sustainable and growing.
In today's episode, the PragMedics chat with Shane, a Community Paramedic, and Dr. Liao, a Medical Director, about Indianapolis EMS response to COVID. This is Aaron's last episode as a full time cohost but no worries, he is still planning on being a contributor and cohost with Scooby! This is a great episode that discusses how to effectively respond to those in need by a CP program during this current pandemic. Thanks for tuning in and for your support! Stay tuned for some updates about the show and an exciting new format! Be sure to follow the Pragmatic Paramedics on our website, Facebook, IG, and Twitter! We got a whole lot of funny Shift for you to listen to this week! The guys bring back the 90's (for better, or worse), and debate the finer points of all things EMS, community paramedics, air medical, and even some light banter about nurses. Wether you are on a long transport, or burning the midnight oil in the emergency room download this episode, and subscribe to SecondShift. Why? Because it's funny. And possibly educational. Mostly funny, though. Sort of like if a really hot chick was education, and a super old millionaire was funny and they had a baby. That's kind of what this podcast is. Less wrinkly maybe. Just download this episode, please.
