“If you don't try, you'll never know. The worst that could happen is that you fail. If you have an idea, just go for it.” - Lyss Stern In true New York fashion, Lyss Stern was all set for the birth of her first son: Her hair was blown out and her nails manicured. She was determined to keep her image of a chic New Yorker – no matter what. While settling into motherhood, Lyss realized that it was not impossible for a woman to maintain style, confidence, and “divalyssciousness” while caring for a baby. There had to be another way. Lyss searched high and low, but she could not find a single company catering to the needs of a mother who didn't want to give up her high heels and make-up in order to embrace the life-changes brought by motherhood. So, Lyss combined her creative skills, chic sense of style, networking abilities, love of children, and dual master's degree in early education and communications, to create Divalysscious Moms. In 2006, Lyss began writing a weekly column, Divalyssciously Yours, for the style section of The New York Sun, which discussed must-have products and upcoming events. She is the Lifestyle Correspondent for Cookie Magazine, sharing her extensive knowledge and advice on the magazine's media channel CookieVision and as a media correspondent on The Today Show, CNBC, MSNBC, and more. Lyss also writes the DivaLysst and appears frequently in parenting publications. This spring brings the highly anticipated release of her book If You Give a Mom a Martini: 100 Ways to Find 10 Blissful Minutes for Yourself — the Harry Potter of mommy work, this release has moms clamoring for the pre-orders. Co-authored with the fabulous Julie Klappas, the book is filled with ingenious tips from high-profile mothers from around the country. Supermodel and supermom Christie Brinkley has written the foreword (and we love her for that). Lyss lives in New York City with her husband, über talent manager Brian Stern, their two wonderful sons Jackson and Oliver, and their Wheaton Terrier, Zack Taylor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University, a Masters in Communications from New York University, and a Masters in Early Education from Hunter Graduate School. She is also the proud owner of a terrific sense of style and a wicked sense of humor. Check out Lyss at DivaMoms.com and follow through on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
