This is the VIC 4 VETS, Honored Veteran, during Veterans Month in America. SUBMITTED BY: TIM CHILDS _____________________________________________________________ ARMY MASTER SGT. ERNEST R. KOUMA / SGT MAJOR TONY B. KOUMA Vic and Ken, I would like to share the names of two brothers who both enlisted in the military to fight for our freedom in the buildup to and after our declaration of war in World War ll. I never had the opportunity to meet Earnest but Tony was married to my 2nd cousin Mary Henehan. I had the pleasure of spending time with him and his family in California , while I was stationed at Camp Pendleton from 1983-1985. He was a great big man with just as big a heart. Earnest was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and Tony earned the Navy Cross, which is one step below the Medal of Honor. Hearing Tony describe the details of what his brother went through, and after much prodding on my part, what he went through to earn their respective medals was chilling and awe inspiring at the same time. It was amazing to me, initially, that brothers would both earn such honors and neither posthumously. After spending time with him and his family I came to understand the type of character it takes to be these men. I know you plan to honor 1 veteran each day. I would appreciate it if you could take the time to mention them both at the same time so listeners can understand the level of courage, honor and devotion to country demonstrated by these two young men, brothers from 1 family. If I may, I would like to also give a mention for Ashli Babbit.Ashli Babbitt had a 12-year military career in the Air Force, primarily serving as an enlisted security forces controller. She enlisted after high school and served from 2004 to 2016, including deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. During her active duty, she met her first husband, Staff Sargent Timothy McEntee. Babbitt also served in the Air National Guard, including a six-year stint with the Capital Guardians, a unit responsible for defending the Washington D.C. region. She reached the rank of Senior Airman. Thanks, Tim ________________________________________________________________ This is today’s VIC 4 VETS, Honored Veteran, during Veterans Month in America on NewsTalkSTL. With support from our friends at: DG FIREARMS - PATRIOT HEATING AND COOLING - BEST BUY FLOORING Sgt. Maj. Anthony B. Kouma (Retired) was born in Dwight, NE, May 30, 1922. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942. His distinguished military career included service in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Among his many decorations, he was awarded the Navy Cross in 1944 for extraordinary heroism. In 1951 he married Marjorie Dixon, mother of his nine children. After her death, he retired and worked as a school bus driver to care for their children. He was joined by his beloved wife Mary Henehan, who sadly preceded him in death by a year. He passed away at his home in Encinitas on Sept. 12, 2004. He will be remembered for his lively sense of humor and his constant love of God, family, friends, country, and the U.S. Marine Corps. His frequent letters often ended with a phrase he personified in life - Semper fidelis (Always faithful.) Navy Cross Citation: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Corporal Anthony B. Kouma (MCSN: 485555), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty while serving with Headquarters and Service Battery, Third Battalion, Tenth Marines, SECOND Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Saipan, Marianas Islands, 7 July 1944. Investigating suspicious movement in the vicinity of his Battery's position, Corporal Kouma worked his way forward from his foxhole and, discovering the enemy in force to his front, alerted the listening posts and directed accurate and effective automatic fire against the Japanese. Doggedly continuing his advance into the enemy lines under intense machinegun and rifle fire, he located and destroyed two hostile machine guns which were firing into his Battery. He then returned to his own area and, discovering that the position was becoming untenable, efficiently directed the withdrawal of the men and assisted in the evacuation of the wounded. His leadership, courageous devotion to duty and gallant fighting spirit reflect the highest credit upon Corporal Kouma and the United States Naval Service. Medal of Honor Monday: Army Master Sgt. Ernest R. Kouma Army Master Sgt. Ernest R. Kouma was credited with killing an astonishing 250 enemy soldiers to protect retreating U.S. infantrymen during an hours-long battle at the beginning of the Korean War. It's no surprise that his efforts earned him the Medal of Honor. Kouma was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Dwight, Nebraska, and grew up on a family farm. In 1940, as war was building in Europe, he decided to enlist in the Army. Kouma served with the 9th Infantry Division during World War II. He fought his way across Germany and helped relieve the people of Bastone, Belgium, after a long siege during the famed Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45. After the war, he served as part of the occupation force in South Korea and Japan. But shortly after the Korean War began in the summer of 1950, Kouma was again sent to the front lines as an M26 Pershing tank commander of Company A, 72nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. Kouma's unit was part of the defensive perimeter around the port city of Pusan along the Naktong River. Near midnight on Aug. 31, 1950, about 500 enemy troops crossed the river and launched an attack against infantry units the tanks were supporting. The infantry units were ordered to withdraw, and Kouma's armored unit was tasked with covering them until another defensive position could be set up. But the enemy's assault was heavy, and it overran two tanks, destroyed another and forced a fourth to withdraw. That's when Kouma realized his tank was the only one left to defend the fleeing infantry units. His company desperately needed to hold their ground. Kouma ordered his crew to fire on the attackers, fighting them off repeatedly throughout the night. During one assault, insurgents surrounded Kouma's tank, so he jumped from the armored turret despite a hail of gunfire coming at him. He made it to the .50-caliber machine gun mounted on the rear deck of the tank and fired at point-blank range into the enemy. After the machine gun ran out of ammunition, he shot his pistol and threw grenades to keep them off the tank. For nine hours, Kouma's tank unit battled the enemy nonstop at close range until they were finally forced to move to safety, withdrawing through eight miles of hostile territory. The whole journey, Kouma kept firing and was able to take out three hostile machine gun positions. During the retreat, Kouma injured numerous insurgents and killed an estimated 250 enemy soldiers. It was an intense display of heroics that allowed the infantry to get to safety and reestablish their defensive positions. Kouma was injured during the ordeal, but once he rejoined his company, he tried to resupply the tank and get back to the battle. His superiors made him get medical treatment, and his request to return to the front lines was again shot down. A few days later, Kouma returned to his unit. He was promoted to master sergeant and evacuated back to the U.S. His leadership, heroism and intense devotion to the mission first led to the Distinguished Service Cross being awarded to him. That was quickly upgraded, however, to the Medal of Honor. He was one of the first men to receive it for actions taken in Korea and received it during a ceremony held by President Harry S. Truman on May 10, 1951. After the war, the distinguished soldier remained in the Army and served as a recruiter, a tank gunnery instructor and a tank commander, but he never again saw combat. He retired in 1971 after 31 years of service and went on to work as a game warden at Fort Knox. Kouma lived a quiet life in McDaniels, Kentucky, until his death on Dec. 19, 1993. He is the only Medal of Honor recipient buried in Fort Knox Cemetery. Kouma received many honors after leaving the service. The 194th Brigade Dining Facility at Fort Benning, Georgia, is named in his honor. In 2016, just outside of Fort Knox, officials in Radcliff, Kentucky, renamed a road Ernest R. Kouma Boulevard in his memory. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As the New York Post notes, Waymo vehicles are electric and as they burn, the lithium-ion batteries are releasing toxic gases. Other videos show demonstrators burning American flags and chanting “F*** Trump.” As the protests carried on into the night, multiple businesses were looted in downtown Los Angeles, according to reports. 6:15pm- While appearing on CNN with host Dana Bash, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) accused President Donald Trump of being an authoritarian for deploying the California National Guard to stifle violent outbreaks in Los Angeles. Rich asks: Does Bernie think John F. Kennedy and Dwight Eisenhower were authoritarians when they federalized the National Guard to prevent violence and enforce the national expansion of Civil Rights? 6:30pm- According to polling data from CNN, 54% of Americans approve of the Trump Administration's program to deport immigrants illegally residing in the United States. While speaking to the press on the White House lawn, President Donald Trump referred to Los Angeles rioters as “insurrectionists”—noting that if he were Border Czar Tom Homan, he would consider arresting California Governor Gavin Newsom for interfering with ICE's deportation of illegal migrants. In response, Newsom has claimed Trump is “inflaming conditions” and has exceeded his authority to prevent violence, declaring: “Democracy is in the balance!” 6:40pm- In a post to X, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced: “Due to increased threats to federal law enforcement officers and federal buildings, approximately 700 active-duty U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton are being deployed to Los Angeles to restore order. We have an obligation to defend federal law enforcement officers—even if Gavin Newsom will not.” 6:45pm- During the unrest in Los Angeles, Congresswoman Maxine Waters seemed to verbally harass National Guard members—yelling at them: “You going to shoot an elected official? If you shoot me, you better shoot straight. I don't know why you're in my city.”

W odpowiedzi Biały Dom wysyła 2000 żołnierzy Gwardii Narodowej do Kalifornii, a sekretarz obrony Pete Hegseth grozi użyciem regularnego wojska – Marines z bazy Camp Pendleton są w stanie podwyższonej gotowości. Czy administracja sięgnie po Insurrection Act, co oznacza wysłanie wojska, aby pełniło funkcje policji, by stłumić protesty? Gubernator Kalifornii Gavin Newsom i burmistrz Los Angeles Karen Bass ostro krytykują działania federalne, nazywając je „politycznym spektaklem” i wzywając do pokojowych protestów. Many neurodivergent individuals process information more slowly but with greater depth and pattern recognition.³ 121 people arrested: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted multiple workplace raids across Los Angeles County on Friday, June 6, 2025. ICE officially reported 44 administrative arrests at three locations during Friday operations, with the total reaching 121 across the broader week-long operation. Sources: Al Jazeera, New York Times, ABC News, NBC Los Angeles⁵ Rubber bullets and police response: Less-lethal ammunition designed to incapacitate rather than kill, though they can cause serious injuries. Federal law enforcement and LAPD officers in riot gear used rubber bullets, pepper balls, and flash-bang grenades to disperse crowds protesting immigration raids. Sources: ABC News, NBC Los Angeles, Sky News, USA Today⁶ National Guard: Part-time military forces that normally serve under state governor authority but can be federalized by the president. Sources: New York Times, Washington Post, Steve Vladeck Legal Analysis⁸ "Insurrection" declaration: The Trump administration characterized Los Angeles protests as an "insurrection" to justify military deployment. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller used this term, though legal experts question whether immigration protests meet the historical definition of insurrection. Sources: Times of India, Mother Jones⁹ Marines threat: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton were "on high alert" and could be deployed "if violence continues." Hundreds of troops from Camp Pendleton headed to the U.S.-Mexico border. It's a new military border deployment ordered by President Donald Trump. The mission mirrors one Trump ordered during his first term — 5,000 troops were sent to the border just ahead of the 2018 midterm elections. Meanwhile, California Attorney General Rob Bonta visited San Diego Friday to reaffirm his commitment to upholding the state's sanctuary laws. Plus, new research out of UC San Diego explores how hard it could be to slow the aging process.

Michael Brumbaugh, a native of Harborcreek, Pennsylvania, exemplifies a life of service, leadership, and unwavering faith. Growing up, Michael spent 14 years playing competitive ice hockey, culminating in reaching the elite AAA level with the Erie Travel Hockey League. After graduating from high school in 2000, he briefly pursued a degree in criminal justice at Mercyhurst College Northeast. However, he soon felt a greater calling and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 2001, marking the start of an exceptional military service. Michael completed bootcamp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and the Infantry Training Battalion in North Carolina before joining Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. His military service included a deployment with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) in 2002 and two combat deployments to Iraq in 2003 and Al Fallujah in 2004, where he served as an operations specialist. Following his honorable discharge in 2005, Michael pursued higher education, earning an Associate's Degree in Business Marketing and Management from Tri-State Business Institute. In late 2005, Michael experienced a spiritual transformation, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a Weekend to Remember event by FamilyLife. He publicly affirmed his faith through baptism in 2006 at Erie First Assembly of God in Erie, Pennsylvania. That same year, on May 27, 2006, Michael married Liz (Sabulsky), committing to build a Christ-centered family. The couple welcomed their first child, Caleb, in Pennsylvania. In January 2009, the Brumbaugh family relocated to Colorado, where Michael began working for the Colorado State Department of Corrections. In October 2010, he transitioned to the U.S. Department of Justice and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science, graduating summa cum laude from Colorado State University. During this time, the family welcomed their second child, Paige, further enriching their lives. Michael now serves with the Department of Homeland Security, where he has made a significant impact through his dedication and expertise. In 2021, Michael and his family became active members of Brave Church in Colorado. His passion for serving God and others flourished as he stepped into roles such as Corps Director, a member of the Emergency Response Team, and currently as a Shepherding Elder. He also leads a weekly men's Bible study at his home, affectionately called "Tun Tavern 2," where he mentors and disciples other men in their spiritual journeys. Guided by the principles of serving his family, loving his wife as Christ loved the church, and raising his children in faith, Michael exemplifies a life of purpose and integrity. His unwavering commitment is anchored in the words of Joshua 24:15 (NASB): “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” This verse encapsulates his devotion to living a life that honors God in all aspects. Uncommon Disciple helps everyday men build an eternal legacy. We believe God created men to be leaders of honor, integrity, strength and grace. The probelm is that while many men desire to become all God has called them to be, they burn out along the way. Fathers desire to be godly examples to their children but carry the guilt and shame of their failures. Young singles may be full of vision, but they lack the wisdom and endurance to stay on course to fulfillment. These all-to-common stories are the reason we believe God is calling us to build uncommon disciples. Much more than resources, conferences, and community groups, Uncommon Disciple is a movement of men seeking sustainable life change. Make sure you subscribe and stay tuned to everything we are doing. Robert Guffy - Gang StalkingFebruary 20Robert Guffey shared the remarkable story of Damien (called Dion in Guffey's book), an unrepentant heroin addict who in 2003 sheltered a US Marine that had stolen 22 pairs of night vision goggles, a DoD laptop, and perhaps a few top secret files from Camp Pendleton, a military base in the San Diego area. Arrested under the Patriot Act, Damien underwent a six-day-long Abu-Ghraib-style interrogation by the NCIS, and was accused of trying to sell the military equipment to terrorists. Damien refused to testify against the Marine, or cooperate in any way, and was eventually released. But after his release he began to notice he was being "gang stalked" around San Diego, with 7-9 people following him into a 7-11, restaurants, and various places. They wanted him to feel discombobulated and paranoid, Guffey explained. Vehicles were parked outside Damien's house, and Guffey knew someone at the DMV, and found out that none of the license plate numbers "officially existed," which suggested they were government vehicles. After this, Damien began to be bombarded with hallucinations, such as seeing multiple moons in the sky, and the dimensions of his apartment were changing. Further, invisible people were in the room, interacting with him and moving things around, and he saw a black amorphous energy.A woman from the NCIS visited Damien on a number of occasions, asking if he was ready to cooperate, implying that the harassment would end if he worked with them. Guffey was able to track down Richard Schowengerdt, said to be one of the scientists behind a project code named "Chameleo" that involved bizarre experimentation including "cloaking"— electro-optical camouflage so extreme it rendered observers practically invisible, which correlated with what Damien experienced. Damien was likely used as a guinea pig to test out the effect of this technology, Guffey concluded, adding that he and Damien suspected the missing night vision goggles may have been especially important to the military as they possibly allowed wearers to see that which had been made invisible.Blog BookBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Finding and fighting against national security threats is a crucial job. In any election cycle, it's even more necessary as political enemies and disinformation can pose serious threats to our democratic process. As a career veteran and defense specialist, Vance Cryer helps spotlight the threats we may face in the intersection between polarization and national defense and how we can overcome them. Vance describes America's external threats, what they stand to gain by a weakened America, and how they are using America's division as a tool to undermine democracy.Vance Cryer was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1968. To help pay his way through school, Vance worked as a journeyman plumber and also helped his grandfather in a business that prewired new houses for telephone service. During his first semester of school, he joined the Air Force ROTC. He then got a job at the local airport filling airplanes with gas and scraping bugs off windshields, using the cash he earned to pay for flying lessons thereby fulfilling his lifelong dream of being a pilot. By the end of that first semester, he contracted with the Marines to compete for one of two slots in north Texas for Officer Candidate School. Vance's 27-year career with the Marines took him through flight school in Pensacola, Florida; to Top Level School at the National War College in Washington, D.C., where he earned a master's degree in national strategic studies; to four AV-8B squadron tours, including as the commanding officer of Marine Attack Squadron 211. He completed six combat tours in Iraq and served two tours of duty at the Pentagon-Headquarters Marine Corps in the Department of Aviation. In 2013, he was promoted to colonel and commanded the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Pendleton. In 2016, he was handpicked by Secretary Ray Mabus as the Marine Military Assistant to the Secretary of the Navy.In August 2018, Vance retired from active duty in the Marine Corps and is now serving as a Director for Special Programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC). He serves as the liaison between MFC and Lockheed Martin Aerospace, working on the leading edge of missile and sensor technologies and future capabilities.Thank you to Starts with Us for their collaboration on this series. There are 5 couples left and season 2 is closing down as another week of intensity on the dance floor ensues. Jerry spent the week using his anger to drive the emotion in his performance by thinking about the judges previous scores or comments and find out why Ana had him hold a coin in his buttocks. Cheryl believes that her tango with Drew is the dance that put them on the map as Nick Lachey peeps in on their rehearsals, Edyta was dripped in diamonds as her husband Alec joined as a mentor and George's IT factor dazzles the judges as they think they are watching Dynasty the musical. Lisa breaks down as Louis gives her some tough love which pays off as her fear of ballroom dances goes away and she delivers for the judges, and finally Stacey and Tony finally seem to hit their partnership stride when they visit Camp Pendleton and dance for the troops building on that feeling and momentum in the ballroom. Cheryl breaks it all down on this week's rewatch.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Damien was likely used as a guinea pig to test out the effect of this technology, Guffey concluded, adding that he and Damien suspected the missing night vision goggles may have been especially important to the military as they possibly allowed wearers to see that which had been made invisible.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

We've got a deep dive into the wild story of the world's creepiest military recruiter, his memoir detailing his own crimes, and the family who got left hanging by NCIS & his unit. Plus super quick news roundup from explosions to a badass sniper making history. HOUSE IN ARLINGTON VA EXPLODING Yesterday afternoon Arlington County Police Department went to a call for possible gunshots where it turned out the fella in the home had discharged a flare gun 30 to 40 times… The suspect then barricaded themselves inside and around 8:30pm when police tried to issue a search warrant he exploded the whole damn house. Huge fireball, was felt all over DC. Three officers reported minor injuries and there were no transports to the hospital related to this incident. The investigation is ongoing. Not clear if the guy survived. MARINE PLEADS GUILTY TO FIREBOMBING PP WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY A former Marine pleaded guilty to a 2022 firebombing attack on a Planned Parenthood clinic in California. Chance Brannon, 24, is one of three men charged in the Molotov cocktail attack which occurred while Brannon was an active-duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. No one was hurt in the incident but the front entrance had some burn damage, and the clinic had to reschedule about 30 appointments. He had also discussed other attacks along with starting a race war, plus a rifle with a Cyrillic message referring to death and a racial slur, as well as a thumb drive with a recording of the Christchurch, New Zealand, white supremacist mass shooting. Boyyyyyy I bet the folks in his unit could share some stories about him. FIRST ACTIVE DUTY WOMAN TO BECOME AN ARMY SNIPERYou can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube.
