The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adan Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with his Forth brother-in arms, Sho Baraka! Sho doesn't have any new music to discuss, so I figured I'd switch it up and and just have a talk with this incredible "Thought Leader". So, this is a freeflowing conversation with the homie. We focus our time together around Grown Hip Hop. Hip Hop is often typified as a 'young man's game' but this genre has aged as have many of its music-makers and consumers. We go back and forth identifying our list of music from the genre that speaks to hip hop's maturity and growth. We highlight and celebrate it here. In addition to that, we talk about how Lebron on the Lakers is reconciling our sports friendship, the changing politics of progressivism (and by converse, conservatism as well), and what work Sho is up to right now. We discuss it all! Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy. Recorded at the Forth District Podcast Studio. Powered by Forth District.
The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adán, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with the music journalist and indie soul singer Rob Milton! Rob Milton is so many things. On one hand, he's 1/3 of the incredibly talented vocal group Cousin (think "Glee meets The Clark Sisters"). Fresh off the heels of the release of Best Life 2.0, Rob Milton is poised to take over the world and we're just happy he took time out from globe domination. We discuss what it's like to be young and creative, working multiple jobs to make it as a creative professional and why do so many singers sound the same these days ("Where'd these accent come from?"). From his bio, "a young creative with one foot in both sides of the industry, Rob Milton is a music journalist and indie soul singer who has managed to make a name for himself through releasing an abundance of quality music and serving as a contributing blogger for SoulBounce and Virgin.com. His passion and presentation have allowed him opportunities such as performing on stage at Washington, DC's Howard Theatre, New York City's famed SOB's venue, recording at Converse's Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn, New York, and receiving press nods from MTV UK, OkayPlayer, AfroPunk, Solange's Saint Heron, SoulBounce, and Ebony Magazine. His music can also be heard in Black And Sexy TV's Rider web series and Centric's Being." Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy. Recorded at the Orange Fuzz studio. Powered by Forth District.

Amena Brown is spunky and fabulous and has such a fun and incredible story. She is a spoken word poet, speaker, author and event host. She and her husband, DJ Opdiggy, live in Atlanta together. Today Amena and Kait talk about owning your story and being confident in who you are in dating. They talk about how the things of their childhood including divorce and growing up in the church influenced how they looked at men and dating. They also laugh a ton about some hilarious dating situations they have been through. The ladies emphasize the importance of opening up your mind to dating people who are different from you. Kait and Amena agree that dating is a journey of appreciating another creation that God has created. It can actually be exciting to meet someone new and get to know someone different and lovely all in their own. Kait could not help but laugh when Amena said, “I love me, I just don’t want to be a relationship with someone exactly like me.” Which begs the question...do you really want to date a carbon copy of yourself?
