In this episode of The Work, Greg and I catch up on everything from coffee enemas and parasite cleanses to business updates, Brick mishaps, vlogging gear, Father's Day, fireworks, dog cones, DEXA scans, and the itch to get back on stage. We've got a lot cooking heading into Q3 with the apparel launch, Keto Brick projects, Keto Bodybuilding updates, Natural State Savages, and plenty of behind the scenes chaos along the way. As always, it's a little bit business, a little bit bodybuilding, and a whole lot of real life.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
Send us Fan MailYou roll out a new system. You cast the vision. You wait for buy-in, and instead you get silence, slow adoption, or quiet workarounds. It is not because your people do not care. My guest this week, Travis Hahler, Senior Director of Global Strategy and Transformation at Salesforce and founder of The Neurological Nomad, has spent his career studying why 70% of organizational transformations fail, and how the other 30% succeed. We unpack why resistance to change is never a character flaw, why every change creates loss (even a promotion), and why the brain weighs that loss roughly ten times heavier than any gain. Travis gives you a way to read resistance to change as information instead of an obstacle, so you can lead your team (and yourself) through it with clarity instead of force.Books MentionedRethink Resistance: Embracing Neuroscience to Lead Transformational Change by Travis Hahler (available everywhere books are sold beginning June 23rd)Connect with Travis on LinkedIn or through his website https://linktr.ee/theneurologicalnomad, where you'll find links to his new book, Rethink Resistance, releasing June 23rd.Check out Dr. William Attaway's new show, The Appreciation at Work Podcast! In this episode, Greg and I bounce around from getting systems organized, to natural bodybuilding, to dirty sodas, to why committing early matters more than waiting until everything feels perfect. We talk through the projects we're working on, the upcoming competition, getting competitors registered, and the importance of staying intentional with your time, your health, and what you allow into your life. When I burned out back in 2019, I felt like I was duped. I did all the “right things” – went to college, worked very hard, climbed the ladder, got married, had kids. And then, after doing everything the way I thought I was supposed to do, I burned out anyway. During that period, I was disillusioned and felt like I had no foundation. I had to find a new foundation, and this podcast was part of it, so thank you again for being here. What I learned about in my conversation with guest, Meghan French Dunbar, is that I didn't do it wrong. Society feeds us the idea of short-term success being the name of the game. It is more important for us to climb the ladder than listen to our intuition. It's more important to look good on paper than to experience success deep in our souls. And guess what? That's WRONG. During the show, Meghan and I chatted about:How we have been pursuing the wrong success targets the whole time. What the pull is to short-term success vs. long-term value creation. Her book, This Isn't Working: How Working Women Can Overcome Stress, Guilt, and Overload to Find True Success. What soul success is and how it is different than traditional success. How we can begin pursuing more soul success in our lives and careers. Here is more about Meghan:For the last decade, Meghan has been kinda obsessed with how we can make business better for everyone. This passion has led her all over the place, from co-founding the first nationally distributed magazine about sustainable business, Conscious Company Magazine, to hosting events for hundreds of changemakers, building businesses, interviewing thousands of business leaders, consulting with major brands, and writing an entire book on the topic called This Isn't Working: How Working Women Can Overcome Stress, Guilt, and Overload to Find True Success. If you're wondering why Meghan is so passionate about this topic, it's because business is one of the largest forces on Earth—one that can be harnessed to create tremendous progress and benefit humanity or one that can destroy lives and harm most people involved in the system. The good news is that it can be so much better and helping people understand exactly how is what her work is all about. When Meghan is not doing all that, she is with her family in the foothills of Boulder—chasing her two kids, hiking with her husband, hosting dinners for friends, and remembering that the truest version of success is one that actually feels like living. If the Brave Women at Work Podcast has helped you personally or professionally, please share it with a friend, colleague, or family member. This week Greg and I got into a little bit of everything, from storms knocking the power out to poison hemlock trying to take over the property. Somehow that turned into a conversation about toxins, common sense, and why nature does not always care if you know what you are doing. We also went down the rabbit hole of looks maxing, fiber maxing, life maxing, and all the weird ways people try to shortcut the work. At the end of the day, you can fake a lot of things online, but you cannot fake discipline, consistency, or actually doing the hard stuff. We also touched on the sardine experiment, heavy metals, higher fat keto, training performance, and why sometimes more protein is not always better.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
Did you know that at one point in our lives, 70% of people experience Imposter Syndrome or now called Imposter Complex/Phenomenon. And P.S., 75% of executive women have experienced it. I've had many highly successful and motivated Type A female clients come to me wanting to be “fixed.” I always give them the same answer. This is not an on and off switch. There is no fixing. This is a process of unlearning and relearning, of noticing and reframing, and reconnecting to your body. It's using your tools when the inner critic strikes, because it will. Inner critic is simply a sign that you are leveling up and facing fear. I know easier said than done, but you can manage it. As Maya Angelou says, “When we know better, we do better.”During my conversation with guest, Jessica Wright, we talk about knowledge that we can arm ourselves with when managing on our inner critics. During the show, Jessica and I chatted about:What Positive Intelligence and the Saboteurs are.The benefits of knowing our Saboteurs and how we find out ours. If the Saboteurs remain consistent or if they can change over time.We chatted about what Jessica and my top Saboteurs are and how they show up. How does all of this relate to the inner critic and why knowledge is power. Here is more about Jessica:Jessica Wright, an ACC-credentialed Life & Career Development Coach, helps new and emerging leaders build confidence, lead with purpose, and create a lasting legacy...without sacrificing their personal lives. Because leadership isn't actually about proving yourself in the hard times. It's about support. It's about clarity. It's about helping people feel seen, heard, and connected to the mission. With a Master's degree in Transformational Leadership, Jessica helps leaders navigate the pressures of their roles, overcome burnout, and empowers them to redefine success on their own terms. Jessica is also the host of Illustrating Leadership Podcast and the creator of the Illustrating Leadership Summit. When she's not coaching or podcasting, you can find Jessica chasing down her naughty dachshund, seeking out her next cup of coffee, or starting a crafting project that she may or may not eventually finish. You can reach her at jessicawright.online.If the Brave Women at Work Podcast has helped you personally or professionally, please share it with a friend, colleague, or family member. Paul unpacks his brand clarity framework, built around three foundational words: identity, gift, and edge. He walks through why most businesses are spending money on creative work before they've answered the questions that make that creative work actually convert. We dig into the HeadSmack framework for leading creative teams, why "unlimited revisions" is a red flag (not a feature), and what it really means to grow your genius instead of grinding on your average. The sardine fast is officially in the rearview mirror — and I'm here to give you the full debrief. Five days, 18 cans a day, 3,000 calories of sardines. Was it miserable? Mostly. Was it worth it? That depends on what you're trying to prove. I did it to cut through the noise around these viral "miracle" food fasts, and the takeaway is simple: there's no magic. Calories are calories, and context matters every time.Beyond the experiment, Greg and I get into what's moving at Keto Brick HQ — Primal Fudge is back in stock, apparel is closing in on launch, and we've got some new things in the kitchen we're not quite ready to talk about yet. We also touch on the upcoming bodybuilding shows we're involved with this month. And then the conversation goes somewhere real. With the anniversary of Greg's dad's passing coming up, we talk about loss, the passage of time, and why you can't afford to keep putting off the people who matter most. I'm starting today's show with one word – WOW. Just WOW. This podcast was one of the most thought-provoking I've had in a while. Why? Today's guest, Elizabeth Rosenberg, is willing to have the conversation that no one is having but everyone should be having. Here's the question: How do we seamlessly integrate our spiritual and/or intuitive side with the professional side and not come off as a weirdo?During the show, Elizabeth and I also chatted about:The story behind her company, The Good Advice Company. What a Chief Spiritual Officer is, and why it is in all of us (and is also a growing community). How we can flex our intuition to be an authentic and powerful leader (and PS, Elizabeth thinks it's possible for all of us). What happens when we face resistance from others who reject the idea of integration? How has living and working in this way made Elizabeth way more authentic?Whether your spiritual tradition is formal religion, meditation, prayer, or pulling a tarot card, Elizabeth believes you can integrate these pieces into cohesive leadership that serves others. And I don't know about you, but this sounds like a world view I want to adopt and live in.Here is more about Elizabeth:Elizabeth Rosenberg is the founder of The Good Advice Company. She is a personal branding consultant and strategic communications and marketing advisor. She is passionate about driving authentic change and purposeful impact through her work. She has over 20 years of experience working with some of the most innovative brands (Apple, Nike, NFL, Clorox Company, Diageo, Cadillac) and leaders (Norman Lear, Lee Clow) in the world.Elizabeth loves PR and marketing and throughout her career has worked in almost every industry including entertainment, automotive, music, tech, sports, politics, CPG, food and beverage, health and wellness, and fashion. The key to every industry is the ability to understand people, tell a compelling story, and create, maintain and foster relationships. She is a two-time entrepreneur (not counting the thriving weekend lemonade stand she had as a kid or the Etsy shop she had in her early 30s).Elizabeth takes big leaps. She's comfortable repositioning herself and pivoting her career not only to bring her more joy, but to ensure she's offering services that are needed in the world. She gives people permission and a plan to do the same (if that's their goal!).Today, she works with creative agencies, start-ups and brands as a comms consigliere and strategic advisor — but mostly with executive leaders in all industries who are looking for a sense of purpose, a personal brand architecture, and an honest, transparent partner by their side.Elizabeth has truly never loved her job or her clients more and is grateful every day that she is making an impact and gets to connect and collaborate with such an inspired, creative and powerful community. A curious and voracious learner, she knows each day will bring something new and keep life endlessly interesting.Born, raised and based in Los Angeles (with the vibe of a New Yorker), Elizabeth is not just shaping brands — she's living hers in how she shows up every day, but also in sharing her stories and truths on a podcast or in a blog post. Most of all, she loves speaking about her health and wellness journey and truly believes there is a future where wellness, intuition and the corporate world all collide. If the Brave Women at Work Podcast has helped you personally or professionally, please share it with a friend, colleague, or family member. And your ratings and reviews help the show continue to gain traction and grow. Thank you again!

We're back with Episode 59 and I am running on fumes. We processed four hogs this past weekend — start to finish, ourselves, no abattoir — and walked away with 600 lbs of high quality pork. 17-hour day. Worth every minute. If you eat meat, you owe it to yourself to understand where it comes from and be part of that process at least once. Circle of life, man.Greg and I also catch up on a full week into our new training split. Legs were brutal — 70,000 lbs of volume — and I'm still feeling it. We break down what's working, what we tweaked on chest day, and why I think this split might carry me all the way into prep for Worlds next November. Then we get into the Enhanced Games happening in Las Vegas. No drug testing, no banned substances — just whatever you want to pump into yourself. I get it, I understand why it exists, but it's a slippery slope. We also talk about the 23-year-old Brazilian bodybuilder who just passed away from hypoglycemia linked to exogenous insulin. It's a sobering reminder of where that road can lead. And to top it all off — I'm doing the sardine fast. Five days, 18 cans a day, iso-caloric at 3,000 calories. Got bloodwork done beforehand, CGM and continuous ketone monitor going, and we'll see what actually changes. Tune in next week for the full breakdown.Topics covered:Processing 4 hogs from start to finish on the homesteadCost breakdown: raising your own meat vs. buying retailOne week into the new high-volume training splitDEXA scan planning and comp prep timeline for WorldsThe Enhanced Games — human performance or chemistry contest? The dangers of exogenous insulin in bodybuildingThe sardine fast experiment beginsGreg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ

Greg and I are back with a jam-packed episode kicking off our brand new four-day high-volume split — and we're breaking down exactly how day one of chest and biceps went, what to expect on leg day, and why we're shifting away from heavy loading in favor of higher reps and faster pacing. We also get into the great cardio debate: is running actually doing anything for your body composition, or are you just spinning your wheels? Spoiler — probably the latter. On the life side of things, I recap my son Rigel's birthday weekend at the cabin, we talk pig processing (four hogs going down this weekend — y'all are not ready), and I share my new philosophy on social media engagement, or more accurately, why I've stopped engaging. Plus, we dive into the Keto Brainz collab with Keto Bricks, and I officially announce the sardine experiment — five days of nothing but sardines starting the 25th, complete with heavy metal blood work. Should be a good time. The new four-day high-volume workout split is live and free on the Savage Strong app at ketobodybuilding.com.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ

In this episode of The Work, Greg and I dig into the difference between doing the work and looking for shortcuts. We talk about staying capable as you age, why “use it or lose it” applies to your body and your mind, and why most trendy hacks—from sardine fasts to vibration plates—miss the bigger point if you're not already willing to train hard, eat intentionally, and live with discipline. We also get into the upcoming sardine experiment, the new Keto Brick nootropic icing collab with Keto Brainz, bodybuilding prep, the problem with “protein” slapped on junk food labels, and why I keep coming back to keto as more than just a performance tool. At the end of the day, it's about playing the long game, taking ownership before life forces you to, and getting after it every single day.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
Have you heard the phase, “leadership is a big responsibility?” So many of us, including yours truly, initially got promoted because I was good at my job as an individual contributor. And no, I did not get management training. I fumbled and bumbled and was a manager, not a leader, for a long time. I didn't delegate well and tried to do everything myself. I didn't fully trust my people, and in return, they didn't trust me. I didn't believe I was strategic or had vision. And I didn't understand the need to create paths for my employees or how to have their backs in rooms they weren't in. Thank goodness, over time I learned. I did the internal work to forge myself into a leader. But, in my conversation with my guest today, Lisa Even, I realized that I am still learning. This is the first time that I learned about how powerful of a ripple effect leaders can have on their people and overall organizations. Also, I have never met someone until Lisa who realizes that joy is part of their jobs. Joy doesn't just happen; we must plan for it and be present enough to fully experience it.During today's show, Lisa and I chatted about:What is the leadership ripple effect. How leaders can happen to their teams and not the other way around. The difference between a good ripple and a bad one.Her book, Joy is My Job: A Book to Spark Joy Filled Mindset, Moments, and Experiences!Lisa's upcoming book, What's Your Ripple Effect? And Why it Matters More than Ever. A Leader's Guide to Creating Lasting Impact and Influence. How Lisa finds space for joy in her life and work. Here is more about Lisa:Lisa Even (ee-ven) is on a mission to help leaders and organizations createthe Ultimate Ripple Effect, the kind that moves people and drives impact.Better leaders. Better culture. Better results.A nationally recognized keynote speaker, bestselling author of Joy Is My Job, and host of the Have Good Ripple Effect podcast, Lisa has partnered with top organizations across the world to help teams navigate change and create remarkable performance.Through her signature S.E.A. Model (Show up, Engage, Adapt), Lisa teaches that culture and performance aren't built in meetings; they'rebuilt in the moments in between, through attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs.A former healthcare operational leader at a Fortune 500 company overseeing a multimillion-dollar budget, Lisa learned firsthand that greatleaders don't wait for culture to happen; they build it intentionally. Drawing on more than a decade of leadership experience, she equips audiences to move from the day-to-day hustle to captaining their own ship. Her message blends strategy, science, humor, and connection, showing that when leaders focus on creating a Good Ripple Effect, resultsalways follow. If the Brave Women at Work Podcast has helped you personally or professionally, please share it with a friend, colleague, or family member. In this episode of The Work, Greg and I recap a wild weekend at MeatStock — from the massive jump in attendance, stacked vendors, and killer carnivore food scene, to black bears trying to break into the cabin for Keto Bricks. We talk about the energy of the conference, the value of getting face-to-face with the community, and why seeing real people benefit from the work makes all the long days worth it. We also get into carnivore products, regenerative ag, raw chicken experiments, lifting without carbs, the genetics excuse, and some big things coming down the pipeline for Keto Brick. On this episode of The Work, Greg and I kick things off with a little anniversary talk — seven years married to Crystal and somehow still going strong. From there, we dive into everything happening behind the scenes as we get ready for Meatstock: booth prep, Keto Brick samples, new flavors, team travel, workouts, and the chaos that comes with taking the whole operation on the road.We also get into the less glamorous side of business — rising costs, changing discount tiers, staying transparent with customers, and refusing to cut corners on quality just to protect margins. Then we wrap with training talk, higher-volume programming, the free Savage Strength app, and why the basics still work when you actually stick to them.As always, it's a mix of business, nutrition, training, real food, real work, and a little bit of nonsense along the way.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
Chitra Nawbatt, author of The CodeBreaker Mindset™ and creator and host of The CodeBreaker Mindset™ show, spoke with Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, about how artificial intelligence is reshaping the workforce—and why leaders need to rethink long-held assumptions about jobs, productivity, and human potential. Nawbatt challenged the common narrative that AI alone is responsible for job displacement, suggesting instead that many workforce changes were already underway and are now being accelerated by technology. “AI isn't creating the disruption—it's exposing and accelerating decisions that were already in motion,” she explained. The conversation focused on the need for a new mindset—what Nawbatt calls the “CodeBreaker Mindset”—which encourages individuals and organizations to adapt, question assumptions, and embrace continuous learning. Rather than viewing AI as a threat, she emphasized the importance of understanding how to work alongside it, leveraging its capabilities while strengthening uniquely human skills such as creativity, judgment, and empathy. Nawbatt also discussed how businesses must rethink talent strategies, moving beyond traditional roles and job descriptions to more fluid, skills-based approaches. This shift requires leaders to invest in upskilling and to create cultures that support experimentation and innovation. As AI continues to transform industries, Nawbatt's perspective offers a clear message: success will depend less on resisting change and more on developing the mindset to navigate it effectively. In this episode of the Brandon Hall Group™ Excellence at Work podcast, host, David Wentworth, Managing Director of Learning and Talent, Brandon Hall Group, sits down with Mahesh Kumar, Founder of TraineryHCM, for a wide-ranging conversation that is equal parts origin story and industry forecast. Mahesh brings an unconventional lens to the world of HR technology, one shaped by over two decades on Wall Street across three continents. What emerged from that career was not a planned pivot into SaaS, but what Mahesh himself calls an "accidental" one. The result is a company built with the sensibilities of an enterprise operator: obsessed with scalability, skeptical of hype, and relentlessly focused on client outcomes. This conversation covers how TraineryHCM came to be, what scalability really means in today's learning technology landscape, and how Mahesh is thinking about AI, not as a feature to bolt on, but as something to weave into the fabric of a product.

In this episode of The Work, Greg and I finally get back in the same room after a few weeks of travel, family time, seafood, beach trips, and training in some pretty solid gyms. We recap the trips, talk about staying on track while traveling, and dig into the reality of balancing family, business, animals, lifting, and all the moving pieces that come with trying to live intentionally. Then we shift gears into training and map out a new four-day split we're calling No Junk Volume. The goal is to move away from the easy-button approach, increase intentional volume, push into the kind of discomfort that actually builds something, and give the body enough recovery to grow. Less ego lifting, more controlled reps, more blood flow, more purpose behind every set. It's going to suck in the best way possible. Just got back from a couple weeks of travel and had some time to really think, reflect, and honestly zoom out on life a bit. This episode is a solo one—Greg's out this week—but I wanted to sit down and talk through something that's been on my mind after a post I made sparked way more backlash than I expected. Not because of the topic itself, but because of what the reaction revealed about how people are thinking right now.At the core of it, this episode is about ownership. Not perfection, not control over everything—because that's not reality—but ownership over what you can control. Your health, your habits, your mindset, and the downstream impact those things have—not just on you, but on your kids and generations to come. There's a lot we don't know, but there's also a lot we do know, and ignoring that in favor of a victim mindset is one of the most disempowering ways to live.I'm not here to judge anybody or point fingers. I'm just sharing how I see the world and what's helped me move forward with purpose. If there's one takeaway, it's this: you don't need perfect conditions to make progress—you just need to take ownership of the hand you've been dealt and play it to the best of your ability. That shift alone can change everything.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ

This episode was a bit more off-the-cuff, but honestly, that's where some of the most real conversations happen. We started out talking about conversations with people who see the world completely differently—whether that's vegans, opposing ideologies, or just people outside your normal circle. And the big takeaway is simple: we need more of that. Not echo chambers. Not algorithms telling you what to think. Real dialogue. Because right now, most people aren't actually thinking for themselves—they're outsourcing their opinions to headlines, social media, and whatever narrative is trending. That led us into a deeper conversation about philosophy, and honestly, that's the stuff that fires me up more than anything. Training, nutrition—that's all important—but learning how to think is the real foundation. Because once you lose that, you start chasing shortcuts, hacks, and quick fixes in every area of life. And the truth is, anything I'm actually proud of—anything that's lasted—came from time, effort, and consistency. There's no hack for that. You can't fake it, you can't shortcut it, and trying to usually just puts you further behind in the long run.So we're doubling down on that mindset—both in life and in training. Moving away from what's trendy and easy, and leaning into what actually works, even if it's harder. More volume, more effort, more intention. Same thing applies outside the gym too—whether it's parenting, health, or building something meaningful. The world is obsessed with fast results and surface-level wins, but that's a race to the bottom. If you want something real—strength, health, legacy—you've got to play the long game. No shortcuts.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ

On this bonus episode of the Bible Savvy Podcast, Pastor Clayton sits down with Pastor Daniel Small, host of the Faith at Work Podcast, to tackle some of your thought-provoking questions—this time in the Gospel of John. Why is the Gospel of John so different from Matthew, Mark, and Luke? Why does John use harsh language? Did the people Jesus spoke to take his imagery literally? And many more questions. This episode was a solid reminder that progress comes from understanding your body, not fearing it. We walked through blood work, hormones, and lipid panels, and the big takeaway is simple: track trends, don't obsess over single numbers. After years of consistent ketogenic living, my markers - insulin, inflammation, overall stability - have stayed steady. That flies in the face of a lot of the narratives out there, but the data over time is what matters, not the noise. We also dug into the realities of pushing your body—whether through contest prep or extended fasting. Hormones will downregulate in a deficit, that's just part of the game. But being fat-adapted changes the experience entirely. You're not dragging yourself through the day - you're still performing, still thinking clearly, still getting work done. And fasting, more than anything, exposes your habits. It shows you how much of your eating is actually hunger versus routine, boredom, or emotion. The bigger picture here is mindset. Right now, the world is chasing shortcuts -quick fixes, drugs, anything that avoids doing the work. But none of that replaces discipline. If the habits aren't in place, the results won't last. The people who actually succeed are the ones willing to do what's hard, consistently, over time. That's the difference—and that's who we're speaking to. This episode is a straight-up reality check—because too many people are out here majoring in the minors and completely neglecting the fundamentals. We talk about the conference, the travel, the research on cholesterol and metabolic health—all important stuff—but none of it matters if you're not doing the basics. You've got people obsessing over biomarkers, blue light, and nuanced data… yet they're not training, they're not moving, and they're not taking ownership of their body. That's the disconnect. We also get into this massive surge in “protein” products hitting the market. Everything is protein now—but most of it is just ultra-processed garbage with a label slapped on it. More protein isn't the goal. Better inputs are the goal. If you're not reading ingredients and thinking critically, you're getting played. At the core of it all is discipline and purpose. If you don't have a clear direction, you drift—and when you drift, you default to comfort. Training is the antidote to that. It builds structure, resilience, and carries over into every area of your life.Bottom line: stop looking for hacks. Train hard. Eat with intention. Take responsibility. You get one body—don't waste it.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
Well friends and podcast listeners, I have met another sister from another mister in my guest today, Dr. Kasi Lacey! I met Dr. Kasi at the Thrive in '25 Conference last summer, and I was like, Dr. Kasi is my person! When we chatted, I really resonated with what she was saying and so much of our corporate war stories were similar, even though Dr. Kasi and I come from different industries. It simply goes to show you that it doesn't really matter the industry. What matters is that we share our stories so that women do not feel alone. When I met Dr. Kasi, I know I felt seen. Like my work with Brave Women at Work, Dr. Kasi focuses a big portion of her work on lifting women up so they can build confidence and advocate for themselves. Once I found that out, I knew she had to be on the show.During our discussion, Dr. Kasi and I chatted about:Confidence is a skill we can build; it's not something we have or don't have. How resilience, grit, and clarity have key roles in building confidence in any area of your life. How boundaries go hand in hand with confidence buildingWe chatted about how Dr. Kasi loves being on stage, and it wasn't something she set out to do.Her upcoming book, The Confidence Comeback: The Psychology of Reclaiming Your Power, Voice, and LeadershipAnd we also touched on her course: Break Free from Self-DoubtHere is more about Dr. Kasi:Dr. Lacey is a nationally recognized psychologist, author, keynote speaker, and confidence coach who empowers women and workplaces to lead with confidence. She blends the science of psychology with actionable leadership strategies to deliver high-impact, transformative keynotes and training that leave audiences inspired and equipped to take action. With 15+ years of experience as a C-suite executive in higher education and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Dr. Lacey is known for her relatable, energizing speaking style and her deep understanding of what it truly takes to cultivate confidence in leadership - especially for women navigating high-pressure roles.Whether she's on stage, on camera, or in a boardroom, Dr. Lacey's mission is clear: help women lead unapologetically and help organizations build thriving, inclusive, and psychologically safe environments. If the Brave Women at Work Podcast has helped you personally or professionally, please share it with a friend, colleague, or family member. Do you have someone in your life that has made a brave pivot? For example, maybe a friend, family member or colleague that has made a big leap into a new career, left their career to be a mom or caregiver full-time, left a relationship that was draining them. Whenever I hear stories like this, I'm both awed and triggered at the same time. Why? Well, friends, I have always struggled with big changes. Every time I have left a job, I've cried and grieved. I've agonized over these big changes, made pros and cons lists, asked everyone I know until I wind myself up to a tight ball of anxiety. Some people release the control of the known and bravely pivot into the unknown. My guest, Dr. Vasu Tolia, has done this with her monstrous move from medicine to art. Talk about different sides of the brain!I met Dr. Vasu through a coaching inquiry, but realized coaching was not the right fit for her. Inviting her to be part of the larger community of powerhouse women I'm part of was. So, I am so pleased to have the opportunity to chat with her today on the show!During our discussion, Dr. Vasu and I chatted about:What led Dr. Vasu to get into medicine? How she knew it was time to move from medicine into the world of art? What the response was from others in her community when she decided to make that pivotHow picking up a paintbrush has made her find something deeper within herselfThe intersection between science, art, and healing and where Dr. Vasu's work is headedWhat a personal mandala is and how it is a healing exercise it itselfHere is more about Dr. Vasu:Dr. Vasu Tolia is a physician turned healing artist and Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics. After spending over 40 years in academic medicine—establishing Michigan's first pediatric endoscopy unit and publishing 150+ research papers—she embarked on a second career creating healing-focused art grounded in neuroaesthetics. Her work has been featured by The Washington Post, appeared on CDC journal covers, and been included in ArtTreasury's 2026 Collector's Annual. Through her unique charitable giving model, art collectors can direct proceeds to organizations supporting mental health, autism research, and vulnerable populations.Vasu's Bold Statement of Claim is "Healing never retires. It just picks up a different path." Longevity has been on my mind a lot lately. This past weekend was the Arnold Classic. You look at those guys on the IFBB stage — absolutely massive human beings — and there's no denying the level of discipline and work that goes into that. But it also highlights something important: enhanced bodybuilding and natural bodybuilding are essentially two completely different sports. When people say “the highest level,” they're usually referring to the Mr. Olympia or Arnold stage. And sure, if you're competing in enhanced bodybuilding, that's the top of the mountain. But I'm not playing that sport. I'm competing in natural bodybuilding, and the highest level there is winning Worlds. Two totally different arenas, two totally different priorities. And when you start looking at it through the lens of longevity, things get even clearer.I had a client compete at the Arnold this weekend — Janis — who is 70 years old. Natural athlete. Keto. She went out there and broke world records in the squat, bench, deadlift, and total. At seventy years old. That, to me, is winning on a whole different level. Most people at 70 can barely carry groceries. They're using walkers and canes. Meanwhile she's pulling over 300 pounds off the floor and planning to keep doing it for as long as she possibly can. That's the kind of outcome I want to stack the chips in favor of.Because the question isn't just how high you can climb for a brief moment. The real question is how long you can perform at a high level.Natural bodybuilding, done properly, gives you that runway. When you prioritize nutrition, progressive overload, recovery, and discipline, you're building a system that supports your body for decades. You can keep improving year after year. You don't have to peak in your 20s and then watch everything fall apart.I plan on competing for a long time. I've got my sights set on winning Worlds in 2027, but whether that happens or not, the cool thing about natural bodybuilding is that you can keep showing up. You can keep getting better. You can keep pushing the needle forward. That's the long game.We also talked about some of the biggest mistakes people make with fat loss. The internet loves to throw around the advice “eat less, move more.” And technically, sure — that's not wrong. But practically speaking, it often misses the bigger picture.A lot of people who hit plateaus aren't eating too much. They're actually chronically under-eating. They're running on fumes, walking 30,000 steps a day, barely consuming a thousand calories, and wondering why their body refuses to drop more weight. At that point the metabolism is suppressed. Hormones are downregulated. Recovery is shot. That's why I'm such a big believer in structured building and cutting phases. When you spend time in a surplus and allow your metabolism to ramp up, you create more runway for fat loss later. When you finally drop calories, your body actually responds. You can't stay in a deficit forever. You have to play the long game — just like everything else. The Tribe is gearing up for a three-day fast, and we've got a bunch of conferences and travel coming up this year. Meatstock, Low Carb for Better Health, Hack Your Health — lots of opportunities to connect with the community and keep spreading the message. At the end of the day, everything comes back to the same principle. What can you do today to stack the chips in your favor so that you can operate at a high level for the longest possible time? That's the game I'm playing. And honestly, I think it's the only game worth playing.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
This episode is mostly a recap of the recent Savage Retreat in Marble Falls, Texas, and honestly it was one of those weekends that reminds me why we do this in the first place. We had about ten people staying together on a big ranch property with longhorns, wide open land, pickleball courts, and a ton of great food. It was a relaxed environment where everyone could get to know each other, share ideas, and connect. Friday night we cooked a big meal, got everyone settled in, and Jamie gave a presentation about mindset and preparing mentally to do hard things before we tackled the Tough Mudder the next morning.Saturday was all about the Tough Mudder, and that ended up being a highlight of the whole weekend. The course had walls, rope climbs, mud trenches, monkey bars, electrified obstacles, and a massive climb that forced everyone to work together. Nobody got left behind. People were helping each other over obstacles, facing fears, and pushing through discomfort as a team. That's really the whole point of these retreats — creating an environment where people can challenge themselves physically and mentally while surrounded by like-minded people. After the race we cleaned up, ate a mountain of brisket, and wrapped the night with a deeper mindset presentation about identity, goals, and building the life you actually want.On the business side, we're celebrating eight years of Keto Brick, which is pretty wild to think about when I look back at where we started. There were years where Kristen and I were sleeping on the warehouse floor just trying to make it work. Now we've got an incredible team and an amazing community supporting what we do. The anniversary sale is running right now with a 15% discount stacked on top of volume discounts, and the response has been huge. Several flavors have already sold out and the team has been packing orders nonstop. None of that happens without the community, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support.Greg Mahler is also a lifetime natural bodybuilder, and can be followed on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/ketogreg80/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQ
