God is cool with your questions. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally answers YOUR submitted questions. 1. What does it mean to be a disciple and how does that look in our everyday lives?A disciple is anyone who follows Jesus. Now, they hold no power when it comes to our holiness.Colossians 2:16Galatians 5:4In 2 Corinthians 3:6 Paul calls the OT law the "ministry of death." What's the difference between demonic possession and demonic oppression? How can children of God be affected by either?Revelation 12:9Three levels of influence by a demon: possession, oppression, persuasion. The way someone becomes affected by a demon is to agree with that spirit's primary objective.1 Peter 5:8-9More info: VFC courses 102 & 104 7. Where did God come from?Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God...God is an uncreated spirit. He is eternal in the future and in the past. 8. Can you explain what is meant by Progressive Christianity? Is it a good thing or bad thing?Progressive Christianity is a trending movement among Christians that questions traditional Christian beliefs and often rejects orthodox theology and embraces current cultural beliefs.Matthew 16:6 "Watch out!" Jesus warned them. Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees".A few markers of progressive Christianity:1. A low view of Jesus and a high view of mankind. 2. Having a low regard for scripture.3. An over-emphasis on social justice.More info: Elephants in the Room 2021, Part 5.Are you trusting God with your questions?

She is also the author of Troublemakers: Students' Rights and Racial Justice in the Long Twentieth Century (NYU Press, 2019). This was SUCH a great conversation with Monique and Tom Franz. When Monique, who is African American and grew up in the inner city, and Tom, who is white and grew up in rural Maryland, first got married, they did indeed have a clash of cultures. Now, 33 years later, they enjoy a happy marriage where they appreciate what they each bring to the table. They've formed their own Monique and Tom culture that is happy, respectful and rich.
In this segment of The Mark Reardon Show, Mark discusses comments made by Detransition activist Chloe Cole, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and more from the SCOTUS hearing of the Tennessee Transgender Care for Teens Case.
This was a riveting, incredibly informative conversation with Anastasia, who is biracial (Black and white) and Jay, who is ethnically Chinese and culturally French and Chinese! Hear how they navigated some of their cultural differences to build a happy, strong marriage.
Another Classic - let's get into it! What happens when you meet someone whom you are really feeling but that person is outside of your race and/or culture? That's what this episode jumps into, The Interracial Pregame! Love is simply not enough to ensure the success of an interracial relationship. It's only the beginning of a long haul of talks, misunderstandings, insights, surprises, over-reactions, and so much more. In other words, its unrealistic to believe love is the only attribute needed to sustain an interracial commitment. Openness, honesty and transparency must happen and it should happen sooner than later in the relationship. Once you begin to feel that soul connection, courageous conversations are a must! These conversations must happen because although there is progress being made, there is still much work to be done in our society. Racism and prejudice from some still exist. Because of that very reason all facets of being in an interracial relationship must be considered, by both parties. The bottomline is, in order to successfully maneuver within an interracial relationship, you must have more than love. You must have compassion and empathy for one another. Most of all, you must be able to be comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Join us for this episode as we continue this enriching journey together. Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White is a play written in the 1960s that explores the impact of these laws. Anita is joined by Monique Touko, the director of a new production of the play, and American historian Dr Leni Sorensen who had a black father and white mother in 1940s California.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Olivia Skinner

She has published two children's books, SHEBA, Home Is Where Your Heart Is, and ICE CUBE AWARD, Learning To Be Cool Under Pressure. Her memoir, Gay with God, Reclaiming My Faith, Honoring My Story has just been released! Her podcast, GAY with GOD! can be found wherever you stream your podcasts. Midge specializes in helping her LGBTQIA+ community in their coming out and faith journeys. Her main focus is to stop gay suicides by educating people wounded by the church that they can be in relationship with the God of their understanding and that God does and has always loved us, just as we are created to be. To that end, Midge is very involved in her parish, The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Midge and her wife, along with their fur babies, enjoy spending time at their mountain cabin, hiking, and being with their friends. In this episode I talk about how our rights for inclusion, diversity, authenticity and basic decency are under attack and we, as a community, have to be brave enough to stand up in our power and make a choice. I give some facts on the 180 day playbook that we have heard about that is hitting the news channels and social media. Maya Angelou is credited with saying, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time". We need to pay attention. What does the Bible say about interracial marriage? Adrianna Anderson and Austin Suter continue this exploration of Biblical Theology as we look at Daniel, Esther, Nehemiah, and Ezra. These books represent the exile and the mercy of God in allowing the exile to end and for God's people to return to Jerusalem. Ezra and Nehemiah both contain references to God's people taking foreign wives, and these passages have been abused, particularly in America, to suggest that Scripture is opposed to interracial marriage. Adrianna is careful to teach us that the thing foreign about the women in this passage was not their ethnicity (which we see clearly in the lives of Zipporah, Rahab, and Ruth) but their religion. We hope you will see how using these passages to teach against interracial marriage is just bad Bible study. We hope you are encouraged by God's faithfulness and mercy in these books and we hope you are reading along with us!LINKS & SHOW NOTES:This UWP Podcast Episode was produced by Josh Deng with editing by Roshane Ricketts.Support the Show.To learn more about United? I saw a video done by an American Pastor on Interracial Marriage , the video caused a lot of controversy, but ironically enough the Pastor was correct according to the bible. “Do not intermarry with them. A lot of people are opposed to interracial relationships. My primary concern is how come liberals have arrived at this conclusion, and it's probably not for the reasons you think. I'll unpack the core beliefs that have led some progressives to oppose interracial marriage - beliefs you probably share, in part. Beliefs we all need to examine and reevaluate.Your listen next list:Should We Embrace Race or Move Past It? on Apple and SpotifyCritical Race Theory 101: The 5 Basic Ideas You Need to Know on Apple & SpotifyLearn Critical Race Theory in 20 Minutes on Apple & SpotifyMentioned: Liberals Once Embraced Interracial Relationships Like Mine. Sheila White's parents met in Nova Scotia just after the Second World War. As she describes in her biographical novel, "The Letters: Postmark Prejudice in Black and White," it was a love story for the ages. With one caveat: Vivien was white, Billy was Black. How they forged their relationship against family and societal disapproval provides a snapshot into the fraught race relations of the time, and how two individuals worked to dispel narrow thoughts about who they were and what their life together would be based on their differences. She talks to Jeyan Jeganathan about hers and her parents' anti-racism advocacy and what she learned by delving into their story.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

the proof is in the pudding so the girls decide to interview their husbands for the most relevant perspective on HWH's favorite subjects. Starting with Caroline and her husband, John, this episode is all about date night theories and ideas, the karma of ick of the week, navigating interracial marriage and so much more. Caroline asks John the hard questions, like why does he hate Christmas and what's the right way to have the baby conversation with a guy, and they end with an enlightening game of love or war. The girls are excited to kick off the presence of more guests on the show in 2024.
On Thanksgiving weekend, an essay started circulating — and it was an essay that I felt like I'd been waiting a long time to read. The essay explores a troubling trend: a renewed skepticism of interracial relationships, and, indeed, of interracial families. Its author is a white man, married to a Black woman. And while progressives had applauded their wedding back in 2007, he writes that it now felt as if he no longer had the right to parent his own children.Paul Kix is an American journalist, and the author of You Have to Be Prepared to Die Before You Can Begin to Live. His latest essay, for The Free Press, is “Liberals Once Embraced Interracial Marriages Like Mine. Amy is joined by Dr. Bri Romanello to discuss the nuanced history and modern ramifications of immigration and interracial marriage across LDS and Latine communities.Brittany “Bri” Romanello earned a Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology from Arizona State University. Her research in the Southwest and borderland areas used mixed ethnographic methods to understand better how the intersections of race, ethnicity, legal status, and religion shape Latinx immigrants' lives, social networks, family structures, parenting, and identity. On a personal note, Bri enjoys existing outdoors, buying too many books, cooking, thrifting, cumbias, film and gardening.
