If a song is biblical or if it passes the theological sniff test, should we sing it in church? What if the song is written by a church or organization that teaches false teachings and is a false teacher? Do we sing it anyway? What does Scripture have to say about this issue? Is it a fallacy? Mackenzie dives into this controversial topic, addressing the issue of where our worship songs are coming from and why we should be so careful as to who and what organizations we support and allow into the church. Show Notes: Nouri TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTF8eW5YF/ How To Recognize A False Teacher: https://youtu.be/keK6POsVMeg?si=-ibJO5lHZeqOsC6y Hi, I'm Mackenzie. I'm a music artist, worship leader, wife, mom (I wear a lot of hats), and host of the Godly Whistleblower podcast. I seek to shine a light on popular teachings and music in the church today and share what Scripture teaches on how we are to worship in spirit and in truth within the church gathering. My desire is to learn together with my listeners how Christians are to live lives ultimately as a pleasing worship to God. If you enjoyed this episode, I'd appreciate so much if you left me a review! In this episode on The Storied Outdoors we sit down with Ty Walker, the passionate owner of The Hatchery, where he and his family are on a mission to revitalize land stewardship. Ty shares the remarkable story of transforming a 1930s trout hatchery in Virginia into a beacon of sustainability and spiritual renewal. Fed by pure spring water and nestled in a nutrient-rich Virginia stream, The Hatchery boasts 7 ponds where trout are nurtured from eggs to full-grown fish, packaged, and shipped nationwide. Ty's vision at Smoke in Chimneys is to metaphorically put the smoke back into the chimneys, breathing life back into the land, both physically and spiritually. Discover how Ty and his family's pursuit of the Lord guides their stewardship, and learn about their deep connection to God and nature, inspiring others to live in harmony with creation. In which the Mister and Monsters join me in reviewing FROZEN (2013), which you can find for streaming on Disney+. Written and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and loosely based off Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," the film follows sisters, Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) who from tragedy grow apart but rediscover the other after their parents deaths and as Elsa is to be crowned the new Queen of Arendelle. Things go wrong and Elsa flees but not before casting an eternal winter on the land. Anna, now having a better understanding of her sister, chases after her to let her know that she isn't alone and that together they will fix things. Will Anna get to Elsa in time and convince her that together they are stronger? Fantastic voice acting, a remarkable soundtrack, a strong story and stunning visuals make this one of Disney's new classics and rightly so. This film was a winner for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song at the 2014 Academy Awards. On a research trip to Auschwitz, my next guest discovered a one-page fragment of a musical composition titled “Futile Regrets”. It's quite well known that inmates performed music both for the SS and in the open air in the camp, but the works would have been chosen carefully to reflect the politics of the camp. So to discover a personal composition allowed for a very powerful insight into the emotions of an inmate at the concentration camp. Leo Geyer is a composer and conductor who had been commissioned to write a piece in memory of Sir Martin Gilbert, a British holocaust expert, and so he decided to complete this unsigned work.Leo Geyer joined Sean on the show today...

Listen to this episode to hear: • Why Jill has chosen to work for a winery vs. start her own • How you can still live in alignment and do what you love while working for someone else • The strengths of a female-founded, female-led team • Why Jill didn't enjoy being labeled a “female winemaker” for a long time • How Jill has navigated working in a male-dominated industry • Why being a sustainable winery is so much more than the environment (but why that's important too) • The skills Jill fostered that helped her land her dream job as head winemaker at Cambria Wines About Jill: Jill Russell grew up with a love of food and wine while living in the Bay Area and working as a server at a winery in Livermore Valley. She developed a love for the Central Coast where she attended Cal Poly, SanLuis Obispo in their new Wine & Viticulture program. Interested in experiencing winemaking abroad, Jill spent a quarter studying in Adelaide,Australia. After college she had the dream opportunity to make wine in Menetou-Salon, Loire Valley France. With all of her connections and work during college at Tolosa, StephenRoss & Phase 2 Cellars, Jill was drawn back to Santa Barbara County and established her reputation there. She was introduced to Paul Lato, who believed she not only had the skills, but the right energy to help make some of the best wines that the Central Coast had to offer. At Paul Lato Wines, she specialized in wines sourced from prestigious vineyards of the Santa Maria and Santa Rita Hills regions but found herself particularly drawn to the uniquely characteristic vines of Santa Maria Valley. Years later, the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself, and Jill knew it was her destiny to take on the role of winemaker at Cambria Winery, one of the quintessential wineries of Santa Maria Valley. Jill is thrilled to work alongside former Cambria Winemaker and General Manager Denise Shurtleff. Jill lived in San Luis Obispo for more than ten years, and shares a love of the Central Coast with her husband Torrey. They now live in the quaint winemaking town of Los Alamos. Everything in our culture tells us that what you need is "out there". It's beyond you. Outside of you. It's the water we've been swimming in. What if what you wanted wasn't outside of you, but rather already within you- you just had to remember it? I first fell in love with Alison when I saw her dancing unashamedly on IG before we were all really doing that kind of thing lol. Alison at first seems like she's all fun and games, (which she is definetly that) but there's sooo much more to Alison that meets the eye. This woman has gone through it, and opens up so vulnerably about her journey during our conversation. Listen to this episode to hear: • Why you don't need anything outside yourself to embrace your awesome • What Alison learned after her health forced her to take a year and a half offline as an internet entrepreneur • How Alison has learned how to create space in her life to feel joy instead of being crippled by anxiety Buy Alison's book here: https://alisonfaulkner.com/book Follow her on IG here: https://www.instagram.com/thealisonfaulkner/ ABOUT ALISON: Alison Faulkner is a branding and events expert, host of the podcast Awesome with Alison, consultant for Fortune 500 companies, writer, speaker, self-proclaimed nonsense dancer, and CEO of Alison's Brand School, partnering with Microsoft and Alaska Airlines among others. The world today is as complex as ever. With some systems crumbling and others doubling down, navigating meaningful work can be exhausting and can easily lead to burnout. This is just one aspect of my conversation with Maggie Doyne that I loved diving into. I have long admired people (especially women) who do things differently than the status quo. Who have a desire, a passion and a fuel to do something big- and actually follow that calling. It's SO hard friends. SO freaking hard. This is why I was so fueled and inspired by my conversation with my friend Maggie Doyne, Co-Founder and CEO of the BlinkNow Foundation. In this episode we talked about: What it looks like to navigate privilege, radically listen and work through the "white savior compex" How to have scrappy, messy hope in the midst of todays cultural climate Ins and outs of motherhood in all of its shapes and sizes The power of simplicity and getting our basic needs met I loved having Maggie Doyne on the podcast to discuss her highly anticipated debut memoir Between the Mountain and the Sky: A Mother's Story of Hope and Love. As the CEO and co-founder of BlinkNow, a nonprofit dedicated to serving the children of Nepal, Doyne has been globally recognized for her community-based and sustainable initiatives abroad. The book highlights Doyne's inspirational coming of age story spanning over a decade since she journeyed from her comfortable middle-class New Jersey home for the college gap year that forever changed the trajectory of her life. When Doyne first arrived in Surkhet, Nepal the area was just coming out of a civil war that left families in poverty and many children orphaned on the streets. After an unexpected encounter with a Nepali girl breaking rocks in a quarry, Doyne decided to invest her life savings of five thousand dollars to buy a piece of land and open the Kopika Valley Children's Home with a vision to care for, comfort, educate, and empower the children of the community. Alongside BlinkNow co-founder Tope Malla, Doyne has gone on to open a school, health clinic, women's center, and more, and was recognized for her remarkable initiatives as a 2015 CNN Hero of the Year. Do you ever look at people and brands you admire and assume they just have something special you don't have to build what they've built? That they're somehow superhumans, doing everything right as they build? Barret was one of our attendee's favorite speakers from our 2019 conference and it was such a joy to have him back in the Yellow Co. realm and he debunks this myth immediately. In our conversation, Barret speaks openly about his decision to go on Lexapro after experiencing the most challenging year of his life after starting ABLE, and what he learned through that experience. Barret and I talk about how ABLE is disrupting the fashion industry, working to be transparent about their lowest wages, providing inclusive sizing and help other fashion brands do the same. Listen to this episode to hear: Why Barret was found by his 2-year-old crying on the bathroom floor What is most helpful while moving through depression as a CEO of a company How we can't wait until we're perfect to be honest Why ABLE publishing their lowest wages is disrupting the fashion industry ABOUT BARRET: Leading a fashion lifestyle brand might be an unlikely role for someone self-described as “not a fashion guy,” but that's exactly where ABLE CEO Barrett Ward finds himself. As the visionary behind the rapidly growing Nashville-based company disrupting the fashion industry with a social conscience, Ward was inspired to start ABLE with the mission of creating sustainable economic opportunities for women. While living in Ethiopia, Ward and wife Rachel saw firsthand how extreme poverty forced many young women to make difficult choices for money. They wanted to give women the chance to earn a living with dignity. In 2010, they began ABLE by employing women who had overcome the sex industry to make handmade scarves. ABLE has since grown into a lifestyle brand carrying beautiful leather bags, jewelry, denim, apparel, and shoes with a primary focus on employing and empowering women in Ethiopia, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Nashville, TN. Beyond adding new categories and communities of impact, Ward and ABLE have also grown in their ambition for social justice. In 2018, ABLE became the first brand to publish their lowest wages, creating the #PublishYourWages movement and providing complete transparency to empower and protect the fashion industry's vulnerable workers – most of whom are women. ASMR is huge. People say these videos of someone whispering or making soft sounds can make them feel all tingly inside, and even help them feel calm and less anxious. So, what's going on here? We talk to scientists who have looked into what's happening in our bodies and brains when we experience an “autonomous sensory meridian response.” You'll hear from Dr. Giulia Poerio, Dr. Bryson Lochte and Professor Craig Richard — as well as ASMR artist Mike Bryant - aka The Velvet Whisperer. I read the book "Rewilding Motherhood" shortly after having my second child. I immediately fell in love with the author, Shannon's take on motherhood as a path to an empowered feminine spirituality, and how we can actually exapnd who we are through the lens of motherhood. Whether you're a mother to your creative ideas, your fur babies, your children, nieces, nephews, adopted family or friends, this episode will speak to you. Shannon tells us the special and connected experience she had which made her decide to write her book, she talks about how our ideas take shape, what it looks like to rebel against the status quo of femininity, aligning to rythyms mentstrating women experience throughout the month, what it looks like to be connected to the seasons and more. Shannon K. Evans is an author, speaker, and retreat leader in the contemplative Catholic tradition. She is the author of Rewilding Motherhood: Your Path to an Empowered Feminine Spirituality and Luminous, a 30 day guided journal for body acceptance. Our very FIRST guest on the creating meaningful work is Reverened Nicole Garcia. She is the first queer transgender Latina ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as well as a working therapist. I first found out about Reverened Nicole from the Netfliex docuseries Coming Out Colton. Yes, there's a lot of controversy surrounding Colton as an ex NFL player cis genered white man getting a Netflix series, while most are cast aside. Reverened Nicole shows up in an episode about faith. Reverened Nicole shoots him straight. Telling him to own up to the pain he caused his ex girlfriend and figureout who he is. Her straightforward yet loving approach had me screaming at my TV... curious about this amazing woman and how I could talk with her. I found out she was the first queer transgender Latina ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as well as a working therapist. I gained so much insight from this conversation with Nicole. Her story of radically accepting herself is something we can all learn from, no matter what our experience. It's never too late to own who you are. It's never too late to step into your true, authentic self. When we do, that is where our most genuine, creative and impactful work comes from and Rev Nicole embodies that to her core. PS: If you have kiddos around, there is an F-bomb or two dropped in this one! Find out more about Reverened Nicole on her website here.Follow, subscribe and leave us a review! Listen in on a live, unedited and unscripted Guidance Group session with guests Tharangi Cumaranatunge, Global Connector at ALIGHT (formerly American Refugee Committee), Jenny Nuccio Founder and CEO of Imani Collective, and Ché Elizaga-Castro, Founder of Come Alive Co. Each of these women come in with a challenge they'd like to talk through and explore with the group. If you're interested in joining us for a Yellow Co. Guidance Group, enrollment opens up 4x a year. Head to yellowco.co/guidance-groups for more information and head here to hop on the email interest list. Tharangi's Poem from the episode: *Transition - a Passageway* by Tharangi Cumaranatunge Transition - It is not An escape - Nor an ending, Not a jump with no parachute And doesn't need mending, It doesn't need defending Nor ever pretending And no one's contending It is merely destiny bending. A transition is - A safe landing place before ... We travel up another stair case, When you are in the landing Cherish the pause, Rejuvenate the internal mission And the heartfelt cause. Live in the landing, fully aligned Take rest, sharpen tools, Open the mind, ...Be receptive and open to - what is. And get ready to be wowed and surprised. Creativity comes from unknowing, and the unknown And everything - you will eventually be shown. It is a passage that requires trust and faith A path that not all travellers take: Once taken bestows courage and bravery To arrive at a brand new place of discoveryFollow, subscribe and leave us a review! This season begins with an incredible guest and author, the lovely Patti Callahan Henry. What an honor to have Patti with us to kick off this season on The Storied Outdoors. Patti is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of sixteen novels and podcast host. She is the recipient of The Christy Award — A 2019 Winner “Book of the Year”; The Harper Lee Distinguished Writer of the Year for 2020 and the Alabama Library Association Book of the Year for 2019. She is the co-host and co-creator of the popular weekly online Friends and Fiction live web show and podcast. Patti is also a contributor to the weekly life lesson essay column for Parade Magazine. A full-time author and mother of three children, she now resides in both Mountain Brook, Alabama, and Bluffton, South Carolina with her husband. Along with all of Patti's accolades, she brings a wealth of knowledge about one of our favorite authors, C.S. Lewis. Having written two Lewis-adjacent books, Patti has an extensive knowledge of the more intricate details of Lewis' life. It was so fun to pick her brain about a shared literary hero of ours. We also dive into her other writings and discuss how place is such an important part of every story. She writes, “Landscape holds our collective memories in the curve of its hand. Offering them to us whenever we pay attention and at the same time we hold landscapes in the hidden places of our individual memories and stories.” We know you will enjoy this episode with Patti Callahan Henry as much as we did. When most Alabamians think about Lake Martin as a place to vacation, Emily Johnson thinks of it as home. Growing up on the water and being an artist, Emily naturally gravitated to painting fish. While this was not always her focus, 2020 presented an opportunity to move away from the medical field and pursue a full time career as an artist, an artist who paints fish… and the occasional waterfowl. This episode gives listeners an insight into the process of painting and what inspired her to make this shift. With the help of her husband, an avid fly fisherman, and three young children who are almost old enough for more adventures, Emily hopes to paint all, or at least most, of the fish found in the waterways of Alabama. Welcome Back Creekers! It's our 9th episode! We're back discussing episode 9 of Dawson's Creek titled, "Road Trip."Join us as we breakdown this very TOXIC episode! There's toxic ex-boyfriends. Toxic Masculinity. Toxic Ice Cream! Toxic Makeup Departments! It's all TOXIC this week!Billy (Eion Bailey) is back in Capeside-- did he ever really leave?--to get Jen back. Again. Fortunately, she's no longer too "weak and vulnerable" to be manipulated by a piece of trash like Billy. Instead, Billy decides to try to get inside Jen's head by taking Dawson (James Van Der Beek) on a road trip to Providence so Dawson can FINALLY feel the touch of a REAL woman. At least that's what he tells the girls. Pacey (Joshua Jackson) decides to tag along. Well, because he really doesn't have a storyline this week. Meanwhile, at Capeside High, Joey (Katie Holmes) is having her own man troubles with this week's Guest Star, Warren Gary (Eric Balfour). When Joey pretty much turns down this sorta, kinda, hunk by telling him she'd never sleep with him even if it would mean the end of world hunger, he goes all toxic male on her and tells the whole school they slept together! Joey would never! Jen (Michelle Williams) decides to ban together with Joey to get back at this creep for trying to ruin Joey's stellar reputation! GIRL POWER! The episode ends with a tub of Breyer's Cookie Dough "ice cream" surrounded by 100 lit candles in a tiny room filled with wicker furniture. DISGUSTING!We also discuss the "other" Guest Star of the week, Nina (Melissa McBride) and how the makeup department wasn't doing her ANY favors in this episode. The legal drinking ages across the United States. And finally, when did Wawa stop selling deli meats?? It's a real struggle. IYKYK.So gas up your convertible, plug in your AUX cord, and put on the NEWEST episode of Creek Talk Podcast because you are in for a LOONG RIDE on life's highway! On today's new episode of THE FLAGSHIP SHOW on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO NETWORK, Erik Woods presents custom trailer music written by the film's composer. Before we get into the music you will hear a brief history of the movie trailer. For this section, Erik has referenced portions of Matthew Schimkowitz's essay published on hopesandfear.com called AN EPIC HISTORY OF THE MOVIE TRAILER. We thank Matt for being so cooperative in allowing us to quote portions of his extremely well-researched essay in the program. Afterwards, you will then hear suites featuring the trailer music of John Debney (LAIR, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST), Jerry Goldsmith (RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, EXTREME PREJUDICE), and John Williams (BACHELOR FLAT, 1941, HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE, NIXON). You'll also hear a video game suite featuring music by Jack Wall (MYST III), Gareth Coker (ORI AND THE BLIND FOREST) and Chad Seiter (RECORE) We'll then move onto Golden Age trailers including music by Max Steiner (THE ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN) and Erich Wolfgang Korngold (THE SEA HAWK). The show then ends with selections by David Newman (HOFFA) and James Horner (TITANIC). And there will be numerous surprises sprinkled throughout the show. In this episode of TSO we are privileged to hear from Petty Officer Bart Valle and his experience flying in the middle of Hurricane Harvey. When Hurricane Harvey a Category 4 hurricane made landfall on Texas and Louisiana in August 2017, Bart Valle and the USCG were called into action. Harvey released more precipitation than any other tropical cyclone in U.S. History. Making landfall on three separate occasions, Harvey dumped as much as 52 inches of rain on Texas and Louisiana. Bart and his crew deployed ahead of Harvey's landfall to make ready for the task at hand. They took off flying into Hurricane Harvey at its peak, battling 45 knot winds, visibilities of less than 1/4 mile, low ceilings, and torrential rains. To make matters more difficult they were flying in an unfamiliar, challenging urban landscape, dodging power lines and tall tress. Bart along with his crew were instrumental in the rescue of 102 souls. We hope you enjoy our conversation with Bart on this episode. In this episode, I want to share a little moment of my life today. It’s about a somewhat odd interaction I had with my older sister which provoked a series of thoughts about the topic of the ultimate ending. This is all an opinion of course but I hope that, somehow or some way, this story and my opinions help you formulate your own thought process when you start thinking about your own “end of the road,” as some would say. So, please relax and enjoy another moment with me here, at Six Feet Above Ground.Music Written & Performed by Pip Abrigo"Illusion of Now" (instrumental)"My Wound"

This short excerpt of music is what was written by God on Mary's shroud in the image that she gave to Juan Diego who presented it to his bishop as proof of Our Lady's having revealed herself to him atop Tepayec Hill on the outskirts of Mexico City in the year 1531. If you turn the shroud on its side and plot the stars on a musical sheet, this is the sound it makes.

Pappy and Jordan review (with spoilers) what could be the last movie for Daniel Day-Lewis but is the latest film from Paul Thomas Anderson: 2017's Phantom Thread. Set in the glamour of 1950’s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutantes and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock. Women come and go through Woodcock’s life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love.
