Where we talk about going after what you want even when you're afraid, comic convention woes, and AirBnBs large and small!
We catch up after not recording for a month and start with a birthday congratulations for Dan and then we share our thoughts on Solo: A Star Wars Story as it's released digitally. We both agree the movie is fantastic but it's going to take multiple viewings to pay attention to what's going on instead of looking around for Easter eggs. It's September and normally that would mean Force Friday at various Star Wars action figure outlets but with no film coming out this Christmas we ore Force Friday-less. So we reflect a bit on past days and Dan's fun times with Stephen Stanton. Head over to Stephen's website and get an autographed photo of one of the many Star Wars characters he's voiced over the years. Proceeds from your purchase go to charity too, so it's a great cause! We catch up on some email, iTunes reviews (THANKYOU!) and give a shoutout to a couple of new listeners who are binge-listening to The Sandcrawler! Guys, thank you and….we're sorry. After our last episode where we covered waves 4 and 5 of Power of the Force, we received a ton of feedback on Twitter and it needs to be said: The Sandcrawler mission to bring respect to the Power of the Force line is becoming a huge success! (Pause as we pat ourselves on the back). We catch up on some new release news including news from Fan Expo Toronto and some awesome Star Wars POPs coming for Christmas. In “I Wanted Everything” we reveal a whole pile of Star Wars goodness and….some non-Star Wars goodness and the collecting lines are blurred when Mac talks about what he got. On our next show we'll be celebrating our 2nd anniversary so we want to ask YOU a question we've asked on our 1st anniversary: Have your collecting habits changed in the past year? Has the way you acquire Star Wars collectibles changed in the past year? Do you display them differently? Tell us in an email, include a before and after photo if you can or record a voice mail attached to an email and we'll discuss it on our Anniversary Special. Oh, and Happy Batman Day.

Recorded mere moments before it’s posted, this episode is almost completely unedited. Time the pauses! Count the “ummm’s”! Do you want your receipt? No more signatures for chip card purchases? Paying it forward for younger readers? Probably not. Some DC news out of this weekend’s Fan Expo Toronto. A brief interview with “Ryan Browne.” Lots of new events!
Conventions, Force Friday, new Millennium Falcon, and The Freemaker Adventures! It's all covered in this episode of Star Scavengers. Don't fly together. We went to two different conventions over the weekend and share some things from our experiences. Who needs sleep? We also fit in some Force Friday activities and talk about some of our purchases. The biggest ever! We discuss the new UCS Millennium Falcon and how much Johna would spend on a similar Ghost or Star Scavenger. Death by mynock. We recap and review the Freemaker Adventures episode "The Pit and the Pinnacle." Stick around for some bonus content where we get into more discussion about the upcoming Rebels Season 4.
"On the road again..." We haven't had a convention live report for a while so it's a pleasure to have Aaron Nabus (hallh.com / SDCCfit) join us, beaming in direct from Long Beach Comic Con in California - he's a fine fellow with a knack for tracking down interesting people to talk to,and he doesn't disappoint, bringing us some amazing guests including Martha Donato, the president of Mad Event Management, animation supervisor and comics creator Stephan Franck, and superstar comics artist Todd Nauck. We're also joined by Michael Pea, reporting in from Fan Expo Canada - yup, we really do get about this episode! We also may be having another live report, too, from Fan Expo Toronto but we have yet to have confirmation of that - either way, what with LBCC, the Week In Con and Week In TV, it should be another packed show - we look forward to having you join us live! --------------------------------------------------- TALKIN’ COMIC-CON: A CUP O’ TEA WITH AN ENGLISHMAN IN SAN DIEGO is the weekly San Diego Comic-Con International and con culture live podcast, broadcasting every Sunday (6pm GMT / 10am PT / 1pm ET) and hosted by Leonard Sultana, joined by Alyssa Franks. Vic has returned from the always-fun Fan Expo (Toronto), so he’s ready to talk about all the celebrity hobnobbing he did while gallivanting around town, smoking big cigars, drinking Courvoisier, and riding in the backseats of limos. This, of course, makes Scott feel terrible about himself (which is also Scott’s natural state, in case you … Continue reading "Episode 60, Fan Expo Toronto, Gaming, and an Interview With Mike Mika"
