Greg Putnam spent nine years of active duty as a US Navy SEAL stationed out of Hawaii before making the decision to return to the Rocky Mountains with his family. After his time in the service, he dabbled in the private sector as the business manager of Ascent Vision before changing course and setting in motion something he'd been toying with for years - owning and operating a cattle ranch in Montana. In 2020, amidst the global pandemic, Putnam partnered with a fellow veteran and friend, Tim Sheehy, to make this vision a reality. Connecting three different properties nestled at the foot of the Little Belt Mountains in central Montana, they founded Little Belt Cattle Company together. With the help and mentorship of some seasoned Montana cattle ranchers, they made it through the winter and just finished their first calving season. Veteran-owned and run by the two families, LBCC sits on about 9,000 acres. The two families are set on making the operation as sustainable as possible, implementing regenerative agriculture practices whenever possible, including soil and grass restoration, a 12-month grazing plan that prioritizes the health of the pastures, and a calving schedule that aligns closely with nature. Working dogs and horses are used to move the cattle as often as possible in place of 4-wheelers, reducing the overall amount of stress on the cattle, which leads to higher-quality meat. In this episode of the Early Link podcast, Rafael Otto joins Abby Couture and Sunny Bennett, principal and preschool teacher at Clemens Elementary in Philomath. Abby and Sunny discuss their stories of getting started in education as well as the moments they began to realize many children were missing out on early learning experiences. They go on to describe the educational environment in Philomath, where they partner with LBCC and Strengthening Rural Families to provide more opportunities for toddlers and pre-k students. Their preschool program incorporates a unique placement within the primary school, naturally connecting young students to their early elementary progression. Abby and Sunny also share their positive experience as part of Children's Institute's Early Learning Academy, highlighting the inspiring sense of community, information sharing, and resource recommendations it provided. Participating in the academy empowered them and encouraged Philomath to engage community partners, improve practices, and foster connections among stakeholders. Sunny expressed how each meeting left her feeling empowered and ready to take on the next challenge, always leaving with a positive feeling. As Philomath's early learning journey continues, the two dream of ensuring preschool access for all students in their community. They hope to create a supportive environment where families can thrive and stay connected from the earliest years onward.

Greg started the company with almost no ranching experience, but he has successfully grown the local beef business to new heights, even in an industry not known for newcomers. Greg stands out for his mission-driven leadership style, commitment to regenerative ranching practices and veterans, and ability to instill purpose into everything he does. We're honored to talk with Greg about his service, successful transition to entrepreneurship, and the future of sustainable ranching. Long Beach City College posted the special meeting agenda on Friday evening, Dec. 2. The upcoming vote is the latest chapter in an ongoing saga that dates to the 2020 firing of former Superintendent-President Regan Romali, who the board initially saw as a rising educational superstar before she became embroiled in controversy. Zia, a Romali ally, found herself accused of wrongdoing as well, though she has described those allegations as politically motivated. The investigation by Benchmark Investigations found that the Zia's behavior did not reflect that of the district's Board Policy, which includes acting only in the best interests of the entire college community, ensuring public input into board deliberations, respecting others and acting with civility, according to the resolution. “At Long Beach City College, we took the multiple allegations of corruption and misconduct seriously and we conducted an independent investigation that had substantiating findings against Trustee Zia,” Board of Trustees President Uduak-Joe Ntuk said in a Friday interview. “The board is now concluding this process with a second censure and reprimand along with a criminal referral to the LA county district attorney's office.” If the resolution passes, the reprimands would include losses of privileges as a trustee, such as being prohibited from any district-funded travel, not being able to represent the board or district in any outside organizations, and loss of an opportunity to serve as board leadership. These losses of privileges would be in place until December 2025. Zia would also have to comply with the board's Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice and with all other applicable policies, regulations and laws, as well as complete ethics training for local officials and a non-violent communication training course from The Center of Nonviolent Communication by December 2023. She would still be allowed to vote in board meetings, speak to the public, state opinions and propose agenda items, and represent her district, Ntuk said. Since Zia was reelected in 2018, she has faced multiple accusations of misusing her position and not being respectful to others on the board, allegations she has denied. “They first fire the former superintendent,” Zia said in a Friday statement. “Then waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on private investigators, lawsuits, and three law firms go
Episode SummaryUnlike its eponymous protagonist, Hercules (1997) is more “zero” than “hero.” Erin and Rachel discuss the film's rampant misogyny and obnoxious product placement. Compelling vocal performances and soaring musical numbers–the last of Alan Menken's contributions during the Disney Renaissance–can't rescue this box office disappointment from the River of Death. Much like Achilles, it just doesn't go the distance. Episode BibliographyCallaway, T. (2012, August 1). Susan Egan: Belle, Meg, Glamour and Goop - Part 2. The Mouse Castle. We are kicking off #CCMonth with a #StudentStory featuring Jan Paolo Canteras, a recipient of the #NISTS2022 Transfer Student Ambassador award! During our conversation, Paolo detailed his Transfer journey from Long Beach Community College to the University of California, Irvine and delved into the importance of community building, advocacy, and representation for students pursuing a neo-traditional education pathway. About Our GuestJan Paolo Canteras is a PILOT, a Viking, and a leader. He moved to the United States from the Philippines to be with family despite being only a few classes away from finishing a Business Finance degree in his home country. In Fall 2016, he enrolled at Long Beach City College, a school that he viewed as a gateway to the top universities in the nation. Paolo quickly emerged as a student leader, running for and eventually being elected Associated Student Body President. One professor described Paolo as a PILOT: a Pioneer with Initiative, Leadership skills, Open-Mindedness, and Tenacity. In Fall 2018, he was awarded the Viking Award, the highest LBCC student award, which recognizes outstanding leadership, success in academics, and extensive community service hours. Paolo successfully transferred to University of California-Irvine, where he is double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. His own experience motivated him to utilize his advocacy and leadership skills to help create the Student Transfer Engagement Access and Mentorship (STEAM) course. STEAM helps incoming transfer students integrate into campus life and provides support and community to curb the negative effects of transfer shock.Learn more about Paolo's story HERE!Connect with Paolo on Instagram and over email: transferaskpaolo@gmail.comFind the 2022 Transfer Ambassador winners announcement HERE! #TransferLeadership #TransferStudents #NISTS #TransferPride #TransferSuccess #TransferChampion #TransferAdvocacy #TransferVoiceAtTheTable #TNTalks #TransferNationKeep talking with Transfer NationIG: @WeAreTransferNationTikTok: @TransferNationTwitter: @TransferPrideFB Group: Transfer NationEmail: WeAreTransferNation@gmail.comTalk soon!Show CreditsHost | Dr. Heather AdamsGuest | Jan Paolo CanterasProducers | Sam Kaplan, Brandon RodríguezSound Editing | Abraham Urias

God's design for families is about flourishing. Throughout His Word, the key to cultural renewal was the family. Changing culture meant changing families, and changing families happened through the leadership of the home. The primary responsibility for discipleship in the home falls upon parents, and fathers are the ones called to take the lead in setting that culture. In Nehemiah 8:13-18, Ezra and Nehemiah teach the heads of Jerusalem's families about how to observe the festivals proscribed in the Law of Moses. These had fallen into disrepair and hadn't been practiced faithfully for generations. These family leaders were called to teach the Law to their families, lead them in observance, and ultimately show their families that their true deliverance and shelter came from faithfully following the Lord. In the same way, God's design for dads is that they would teach their families to find shelter in Jesus Christ.
Many people equate piety with misery. Even in the Church, it's common for people to think that God wants them to be especially serious all the time, with a healthy dose of misery to show that we really take sin seriously. But the purpose of God's Word isn't simply to afflict us, it's to bring us into joy. In fact, the Bible invites us to confront our sin so that we can discover the love of our savior. In this week's episode, we take a deeper look at Nehemiah 8:8-12 and discuss the nature of joy and the ways God makes it available to us through His Word!

How do we elevate and understand the Bible in our lives when we live in a culture that has so much to say about it? When there are so many places to go for information about the Scriptures, how do we grow? In this week's episode, we take a deeper look at Nehemiah 8:1-8 and explore how the Bible is God's message book to us, translated for us through Jesus, and translated through us to the world.

Working dogs and horses are used to move the cattle as often as possible in place of 4-wheelers, reducing the overall amount of stress on the cattle, which leads to higher quality meat. https://mtntough.com/clearedhot https://wildalaskancompany.com/clearedhot https://grammarly.com/clearedhot

Randy Totorp is the Athletic Director at Saddleback College and is a product of the California JC System. I known Randy since 2015 and he definitely has a great deal of insight as it pertain college eligibility, coaching championship teams and volleyball. He went to Long Beach College and Earned a volleyball scholarship to San Diego State University (he's not happy the NCAA tournament was cancelled because San Diego State actually had a chance to win) We also talked a conspiracy theory about how Chargers owner Dean Spanos created the Corona Virus to prevent SDSU from winning a championship, and discussed Misty May Treanor (greatest female volleyball player ever), whom Randy hired when he was the AD at his alma mater LBCC. Plus, surprising, if not shocking top 5 movies and tv shows to watch during quarantine. #deanspanoscreatedthecoronavirus
