What's the best way to usher in the New Year? On this week's episode, legendary voiceover artist Bill Ratner shares a true story from his early days in Radio: When his green card bride Claudine leaves him, he's alone during the Holidays in an empty double wide and his evening shift duties at KJOI (LA's easy listening music station). So when a fan requests something a bit more intimate than the Percy Faith Orchestra, why not make her happy? And on New Year's Eve, they produce their own live show together over the air waves, using the station's 50,000 watts of power to make the world a bit less lonely. And Dixie ends the year with the story you've been asking her for. #HappyNewYear Song: ‘Love's A Stranger' (Warhaus) New Year l Radio DJ l Drive by Fucking l Anonymous Sex | Music Request Line l Radio Antenna l 1970's l Lubrication l Harlequin Romance Novel l Top of Topanga Mobile Home Park l Double Wide l Vaseline l Instrumental Radio l Muzak l Muumuu | Terrycloth Bathtub Animals l FM Transmitter l Top of the Hour l Station ID l Honda Civic l Radio Console l Blinking LEDs I Percy Faith Orchestra l Middle Age l Smog l Order Up a Man l Microphone l Los Angeles l Happy New Year l Divorce l Radio Tower l Lawrence Welk l Green Card l Quell l Radio Station l Marriage l Swiss l London l LA l Radio Announcer l Chief Engineer l Sales Manager l About our Storyteller: Bill Ratner is one of Hollywood's premier voiceover artists and a published poet, essayist, and fiction writer. Welcome to the place where I get to let my geek flag fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is where I look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. It took 258 episodes, but the fuzzy trio finally wrestled. No… no fighting here but Danny has expressed interest in discussing professional wrestling for quite a while and it was time to oblige the semi-offical news mofo. We talk all sorts of stuff including wrestlers like the Undertaker, Hollywood Hogan, Roman Reigns, Sting, Ultimate Warrior, Mick Foley, Jerry Lawler, Kurt Angle, Ric Flair, British Bulldog, and more. Join us for a conversation all about WWE, WCW, ECW, AEW, steel cage matches & ladder matches, Long Beach Comic Con and Frank & Sons wrestling matches, how we came to enjoy wrestling, favorite memories of wrestling, Rubber Wrestlers/Hasbro figures/LJN figures & posters, wrestlers in the geeky stuff we enjoy, WWE Lady Wrestlers, Gorgeous Grampa in The Simpson S24:E14, Seth Green wrestling, the movie Ready to Rumble, the McMahon steroid trial, and whatever other tangents we discussed. In fairness Danny is much more current than Blue and I on wrestling but this was a fun discussion. Congrats on completing Level 258 of the podcast! Think positive, test negative, stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, and good luck out there. Feel free to contact me on Twitter and/or Instagram (@wookieeriot). Kyle Chrise (kr-ICE) is the comfort food of comedy. He has the soul of a rock star trapped in the body of middle management. Everything is out to get him, including his house, his job and the fast food he loves most. Even worse, he still thinks he’s one gig away from rock stardom. Kyle was born and raised on the black and yellow streets of southwestern Pennsylvania. He’s performed rock on “The Late Late Show,” & “Ozzfest 2016.” His stand-up albums "Kyle Chrise is Fake News" & "Kingsize" have each debuted in the iTunes comedy top 25. He's been named "Best of Fest" four times at the Burbank Comedy Festival, and has been featured at the San Diego Comedy Festival & The World Series of Comedy. He’s appeared on Showtime’s “Dice,” “Sixx Sense w/Nikki Sixx,” "Tom Green Live," "The Artie Lange Show," “ON w/Mario Lopez,” & “America Now w/Meghan McCain.” Kyle is also the creator and producer of "Cosplay Comedy," which has been featured at Long Beach Comic Con, LA Comic Con, the Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival, Phoenix Fan Fusion & the Great American Comic Con Las Vegas. On today's episode I recap the news and experiences we had at D23 and Long Beach Comic Con! There's no guest on this episode as I wanted to take the time to share some of the big news from D23 and talk about our experiences at Long Beach Comic Con. We recieved so much news at D23, primarily focused on a lot of the Disney+ programming. There was a lot of news from Star Wars, Marvel, The Muppets, and of course The Simpsons. It was great to return to Long Beach Comic Con this year. It seemed to be a little quieter this year with the lack of some past vendors and guests, but I attributed that to the stiff competition in the convention circuit this past weekend. Nonetheless, we still have a great time. One of the stand out vendors that we've looked at before was Unwrapped Art. We've had some of their work on the instagram and you'll hear all about them in this episode. There's a lot of great things happening in entertainment right now. So many great new shows in the works, great comics, new films, and great art! Thank you for having us back Long Beach! And don't forget to get signed up for Disney+ as it launches November 12th. Enjoy the episode! FOLLOW TIM ON TWITTER: @timdrake FOLLOW TIM ON INSTAGRAM: @timdrake42
