This week The Guys revisited a tradition of going to a movie none of their wives wanted to see.  Permission to watch Supergirl was granted and acted upon.   No Oscar nominations are expected (though the CGI dog is pretty good), but The Guys give it 3 thumbs up.  Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa seem to fit their roles, and David Corenswet seems very Superman-ish in his appearances.  Despite Jay's confusion (why is this movie taking place mostly in space with what seemed like cameo appearances from Star Wars aliens?), the story moves along and makes sense.  Lots of planets, multi-colored suns, but no multi-verses.  In other news, sadly, the leader from an iconic band passes from the planet.   On the other side of the planet, for those who love electric cars AND Batman, Mihandra is ready to take your rupees.  “Heroes” is back on Netflix, so maybe Jay will get past the first few episodes this time around.  Save The Guys!  Save the World!

Supergirl is a 2026 American superhero film based on the DC Comics superheroine Kara Zor-El / Supergirl. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, it is the second film in the DC Universe (DCU). Milly Alcock stars in the title role, alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa. In the film, Kara embarks on a journey across the galaxy to hunt down an adversary who has harmed her pet dog Krypto. The film is produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn of DC Studios.A film featuring Supergirl entered development as part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) franchise in August 2018, and the character was introduced in the 2023 film The Flash, portrayed by Sasha Calle. Plans for the standalone project were altered when Gunn and Safran became co-CEOs of DC Studios in October 2022, and they began work on the DCU as a reboot of the DCEU. A new Supergirl film was announced in January 2023 as an adaptation of the 2021–22 comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Nogueira was hired by November 2023; Alcock was cast in January 2024 to debut in the first DCU film, Superman (2025); and Gillespie joined that May. Filming took place from January to May 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and London in England, and in Scotland.Supergirl premiered at the Plaza at 300 Ashland in Brooklyn on June 22, 2026, and was theatrically released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on June 26. It is part of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. It received mixed reviews from critics, and has grossed $107 million against a production budget of $170–186 million. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 299 of Tom Clark's 6M Podcast is a look at Supergirl (2026). Tom Clark and Phil Lindsey break down the second film in DC Studios' new DC Universe, examining Milly Alcock's darker take on Kara Zor-El, the film's adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and how its revenge-driven space adventure differs from the hopeful tone established in Superman. They also discuss the film's long road to the big screen, James Gunn and Peter Safran's creative direction for the new DCU, and behind-the-scenes stories from the production. The conversation covers the performances of Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Jason Momoa, and David Corenswet, along with the movie's mixed critical reception, disappointing box office performance, and what Supergirl could mean for the future of the franchise. Does this emotionally scarred version of Kara Zor-El offer a compelling new direction for the character, or does the film struggle to balance its cosmic adventure with its darker themes? This week on Fantastic Forum, we are traveling from the stars of the DC Universe to the haunted hills of Italy with two exciting new releases. First up is Supergirl, the latest film from DC Studios starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, Jason Momoa, David Corenswet, Emily Beecham, and David Krumholtz. Inspired by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the film follows Kara as she embarks on a dangerous journey across the cosmos that challenges her understanding of justice, family, and what it truly means to be a hero. We are breaking down the performances, the visual spectacle, and whether this latest chapter continues the momentum of DC Studios' new cinematic universe. Then we turn to Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Monster of Nivola, written by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, with painted art by Daniele Serra and lettering by Clem Robins. Set in 1963, Hellboy is dispatched to the mountain village of Nivola, Italy, where an ancient legend has become a terrifying reality. As villagers disappear and fear spreads through the countryside, Hellboy uncovers a monstrous force tied to the region's dark folklore. Serra's haunting painted artwork perfectly complements Mignola and Golden's atmospheric tale, delivering a gothic mystery that feels both timeless and unmistakably Hellboy. Netflix rewrites beloved characters, Sony walks away from physical media, Westeros delivers, and DC Studios stumbles out of the gate again. This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl discuss Netflix's handling of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 and why disrespecting beloved characters is becoming one of streaming's biggest problems. They also break down Sony's latest PlayStation decisions and what they mean for the future of physical media and game ownership. Then it's back to Westeros for House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 2 before wrapping things up with their review of Supergirl (2026) and whether DC Studios has another winner on its hands. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Playstation Kill Physical Media: 06:07 AtLAB, Netfilx is why we can’t have nice things: 28:20 House of the Dragon: 41:57 Supergirl: 56:27 PlayStation Announces the End of Physical Media Announcement Date: July 1, 2026 Effective Date: January 2028 Company: Sony Interactive Entertainment Summary: Sony announced that beginning in January 2028, all new PlayStation games will be released digitally only, ending production of physical Blu-ray game discs for future releases. Games already released—or scheduled for release before the 2028 cutoff—will continue to be sold on disc, but every new title afterward will require a digital download through the PlayStation Store or participating retailers. Sony says the decision reflects changing consumer habits, noting that digital purchases now account for roughly 80% of full-game sales on PlayStation. Key Details: – Physical discs for new PlayStation releases end in January 2028. – Existing disc-based games will continue to work and remain available while supplies last. – Retailers will transition to selling digital download codes instead of boxed games. – Sony says the move follows overwhelming consumer preference for digital purchases. Why It Matters: – Gamers lose the ability to buy, sell, trade, or lend future PlayStation games. – Collectors will no longer have physical editions for new releases. – Consumers become increasingly tied to Sony's digital storefront and licensing model. – Preservation advocates worry that future games could become inaccessible if licensing changes or digital storefronts eventually close. – Digital-only distribution gives publishers greater pricing control by reducing competition from the used-game market. Discussion Points: – Do you really own a digital game, or are you simply purchasing a revocable license? – What happens to game preservation when no physical copy exists? – Will digital-only distribution lead to higher prices due to reduced retail competition? – Is convenience worth giving up ownership rights? – Does this set the stage for the PlayStation 6 to become a fully digital platform? Industry analysts increasingly believe so. Infamous Take: While digital downloads are undeniably convenient, this announcement marks the end of an era. Physical media has always given players tangible ownership, resale value, and long-term access independent of corporate licensing agreements. Sony's decision may make business sense, but it also shifts even more control away from consumers and toward platform holders; a trend that extends far beyond gaming. Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix) Season: 2 Platform: Netflix Summary: Brian and Darryl discuss Netflix's continued adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and why they believe the series is losing sight of what made the original so beloved. The conversation focuses on major character changes, the difference between adaptation and rewriting, and why respecting the heart of the source material matters just as much as updating it for a modern audience. House of the Dragon (HBO Max) Season 3, Episode 2 Title: Queen’s Landing Air Date: June 28, 2026 Director: Clare Kilner Writer: Sara Hess Summary: Following the devastating Battle of the Gullet, Rhaenyra's grief quickly turns into resolve as Team Black moves to seize King's Landing. Alicent secretly conspires to surrender the city in hopes of saving part of her family, while Daemon returns to continue the campaign. The episode marks a major turning point in the Dance of the Dragons as alliances shift, old loyalties collapse, and Rhaenyra finally claims the Iron Throne at tremendous personal cost. Rating out of 5 Otto Not So Hightower Brian: 4.5/5 Darryl: 4.45/5 Supergirl (2026) Release Date: June 26, 2026 Runtime: 108 minutes Director: Craig Gillespie Writer: Ana Nogueira Based On: Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely Studio: DC Studios Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures Summary: Kara Zor-El embarks on a brutal interstellar journey alongside the young warrior Ruthye Marye Knoll to hunt down the man responsible for murdering Ruthye's family. Along the way, Kara confronts her own trauma while facing the ruthless Krem of the Yellow Hills, resulting in a darker, more cosmic take on the Girl of Steel than previous film adaptations. Main Cast: – Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl – Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll – Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills – Jason Momoa as Lobo – David Krumholtz as Zor-El – Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze – David Corenswet as Superman (cameo) Production Notes: The second film in DC Studios' new shared universe adapts Tom King's acclaimed Woman of Tomorrow storyline, emphasizing Kara's emotional scars and cosmic adventures over a traditional superhero origin. Despite strong expectations and praise for Milly Alcock's performance, the film opened below box office projections and received mixed critical reception, making it one of the first commercial disappointments of the new DC Universe. We're celebrating summer by heading to the drive-in! Over the next two weeks, we're bringing you a double bill of blockbuster movies from last summer. Maybe you saw them, maybe you missed them, but we think you'll enjoy Last Summer's Drive-In Movie Double Feature! Grab a corndog, tune in your radio, or hang that weird staticky speaker in your window… our first feature is starting now! In 2022, after Discovery, Inc. and WarnerMedia merged to become Warner Bros. Discovery, CEO David Zaslav hired director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to lead the newly-formed DC Studios, rebooting the divisive and ultimately financially unsuccessful DC Extended Universe, the so-called Snyderverse, into what is simply known as the DC Universe. The first official film in the new DCU slate, called "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters," (nod to last week) was a soft-reboot of the universe focusing on the same character Zach Snyder used in 2013 to start his universe: the Man of Steel himself, the Last Son of Krypton, Superman. With the vibe of "we now join the program already in progress," this overstuffed actioner sees David Corenswet don the tights as Kal-El / Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult shave his head as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Broshnan step behind the keyboard as intrepid reporter Lois Lane. Oh, and there's about a bajillion other people in this movie (plus one cute CGI dog and some robots) because let's just throw the spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. Imagine the pastabilities! Earth's yellow sun was shining, however, as the film scored the tenth highest-grossing release of 2025, was the highest-grossing superhero film of that year, and was the first DC-based film to surpass all Marvel films released within a single year since The Dark Knight in 2008 - when the first Iron Man hit screens. But with this film's spin-off/follow-up already in theaters and a sequel in production, is Superman still bulletproof or has this pocket universe already met its Kryptonite?   For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com    You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. After nearly two decades of development hell across Warner Bros., Sony, and Netflix, the film finally landed on Amazon Studios—but does Masters of the Universe live up to the hype and legacy?James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe continues with Supergirl, the second cinematic chapter following the success of Superman, but does Kara Zor-El's solo adventure soar to the same heights? On this episode of The Commentary Booth, Jamie Apps is joined by Todd Eastman to break down Craig Gillespie's cosmic superhero adventure starring Australian actress Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. Together, they explore how Supergirl delivers a vastly different experience to Superman, trading bright optimism for a darker, more personal story centred on grief, identity, revenge, and belonging.Jamie and Todd discuss Milly Alcock's standout performance, the emotional depth she brings to a character carrying the trauma of Krypton's destruction, and why her rebellious interpretation of Supergirl offers a fascinating contrast to David Corenswet's hopeful Superman. They also examine the film's strengths, including its world-building, the introduction of different-coloured suns, emotional character moments, and surprising humour.Highlights Breakdown: - Milly Alcock's star-making performance as Supergirl - Why Kara Zor-El is the perfect foil to Superman - The emotional themes of grief, heritage, legacy and belonging - Jason Momoa's first appearance as Lobo - The introduction of red, yellow and green suns in the DCU - Did the film suffer from major editing cuts? - The future of the DCU and upcoming projects including Lanterns and ClayfaceThe boys go deep on what makes this one different from Superman — for better and for worse — and come out the other side with a verdict that's more generous than the critical pile-on suggested it deserved. This week's episode is brought to you byAustralian Wrestling CardsCheck out more great content from Pario Magazine on our website.-------------------------------------------------------------SUPPORT PARIO MAGAZINE & THE COMMENTARY BOOTH- PATREON- BUY MERCH- AMAZON PRIME VIDEO- TUBEBUDDY- Subscribe to AEW Plus using my code (q0yydoz) to earn $10 in FITE credit- Shop Online With Honey- Shop Online With SatechiMY EQUIPMENT- Elgato Facecam- Rode PodMic- Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP- Streamlabs Talk StudioFOLLOW JAMIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram- TikTokFOLLOW PARIO MAGAZINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram

Supergirl is a 2026 superhero film based on the DC Comics character, directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. Produced by DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, it is the second theatrical entry in the new DC Universe (DCU). Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa. Adapted from Tom King and Bilquis Evely's acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the film follows Kara on a galaxy-spanning quest for vengeance that ultimately forces her to confront grief, justice, and her own identity. A standalone Supergirl project had been in development during the DC Extended Universe era after Sasha Calle's debut in The Flash (2023), but Gunn and Safran rebooted the concept following their appointment as co-heads of DC Studios in 2022. Filmed in England and Scotland during early 2025, Supergirl premiered in Brooklyn on June 22, 2026, opened nationwide on June 26 as part of DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, received mixed reviews from critics, and has grossed approximately $63 million worldwide to date.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

SUPERGIRL, the follow-up to James Gunn's SUPERMAN from last year, has finally hit theaters, and people are being totally chill and not weird at all about it. Just kidding! The discourse has reached a fever pitch, but does the movie, starring Milly Alcock as the titular heroine with an assist from Jason Momoa as Lobo and David Corenswet returning as the Man of Steel, deserve the divisive response it's getting? Fearless and grumpy, Supergirl (Milly Alcock) sets out on a quest to support a new pal's revenge journey and to make a point that should be clear by now: Never mess with a lady's dog. SUPERGIRL MOVIE REVIEW – Greg Alba and Roxy Striar give their out-of-theater reaction to Supergirl (2026), directed by Craig Gillespie. This new DC Universe installment brings Kara Zor-El, Superman, Ruthie, Lobo, and Krypto the Superdog into a cosmic space adventure where a young girl seeks revenge against a psychotic villain after her family is killed. In this spoiler-free review, Greg and Roxy break down their wildly clashing final scores, Millie Alcock's phenomenal performance as Supergirl, David Corenswet's perfectly utilized role as Superman, Jason Momoa's fun but polarizing casting as Lobo, the incredible practical alien creature makeup effects, the young actress playing Ruthie holding her own, the pacing of the red sun storyline, why the villain Creme fell flat compared to the graphic novel, the movie's tight 1-hour-47-minute runtime, the melancholic tone of the soundtrack, and whether this film successfully builds James Gunn's new DCU despite a major, highly divisive ending change. If you're into Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the new DCU, comic book movie reviews, graphic novel adaptations, Superman, space adventures, practical movie effects, and stories about sibling-like bonds, grief, and heroism, this one definitely gives a lot to talk about — and make sure you watch until the middle to see a wild group of fans completely surprise and disrupt our theater shoot! -Click http://kalshi.com/r/rejects to check out the Avengers/Hulk market yourself, and get $10 when you trade $10 with code rejects.
