A conversation with Prof. Elena Agapie about supporting our fellow humans' behavior change goals with appropriately designed technology.
In this Episode Prof. Dr. Sebastian von Mammen gives a short excurse to the field of Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI). One aspect here is the avatar research, where you can see yourself being represented in the virtual world. What impact does that have on your experience in the virtual world – does it change your behavior for instance if you perceive yourself differently than in reality We also talk about local gaming networks and future research projects, about interactive systems and complex interactive simulations for developmental biology. Guest: Prof. Dr. Sebastian von Mammen, full professor at the University of Würzburg. He is professor of Games Engineering and member of the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction. He is an expert in the field of Games Engineering, Serious and Immersive Games, and Real-time Interactive Systems. http://games.uni-wuerzburg.de/
Given the fact that millennials and Generation Z visitors rarely get attracted by the content of museums, even open-air ones, the need to find a kind of “bait” for them in order to visit, is more than an urgent one. Maria Roussou, Assistant Professor in Interactive Systems at UoA and senior researcher at “Athena” Research Center, explains how she tries to offer new and immersive experiences to them, clad in a digital storytelling costume, in the framework of an EU - funded (Horizon 2020) project that exploits the special dynamics of Human - Computer Interaction. Interviewed by Yannis Rizopoulos for Tech Talks Central.
With the explosion of possibilities in new interactive systems brought by ubiquitous computing and VR, we thought it made sense to try to nail down some precise language for how to discuss all these types of systems. In this episode we explore a possible categorization schema for interactive systems along two axes: Variability and Goal-Orientation. We walk […]
