ude 1-2, Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. ————— This Sunday marks the beginning of a four-week sermon series over the book of Jude. The writer's purpose in his letter was twofold: he wanted to expose the false teachers that had infiltrated the Christian community, and he wanted to encourage Christians to stand firm in the faith and fight for the truth. Jude recognized that false teachers often sold their deceptive goods unnoticed by the faithful, so he worked to raise the awareness of the believers by describing in detail how terrible their teachings were. But more than simply raising awareness, Jude thought it important that believers stand against those working against Jesus Christ. Believers were to do this by remembering the teaching of the apostles, building each other up in the faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping themselves in the love of God. ————— Jude calls for his readers and us to fight for the truth! Stand up against error! The book is the very definition of short, succinct pithy proclamations. But in our day and age, this sort of teaching is called rude or unacceptable. In many circles the forcefulness of Jude will not be tolerated, the crowds preferring a softer and gentler side of the Christian faith. But Jude reminds us that there is a time and a place for the aggressive protection of the truth from those who would seek to tear it down.

Our study in 2nd Thessalonians resumes in chapter 1 verses 9 - 12 here on the Unchanging Word Bible broadcast. In this letter Paul wrote the Thessalonians to bring them comfort concerning the persecutions which they were experiencing. They had been mislead by some communication which did not come from Paul, that said the day of the Lord had come, so that was why they were in suffering and persecution. Paul writes to correct the deception and to bring comfort these believers. Dr. Mitchell tells us the truth in saying that God is today showing mercy to sinners. This is because God's righteous character has been vindicated by Jesus' shed blood on the cross. You too can have this benefit by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for us and for our sins according the scriptures. Here is Dr. Mitchell, 2nd Thessalonians 1: 9 - 12. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/unchanging-word/message

Jude 1-7- Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ- May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.--Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.--Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.--1 - Old Sins, New Techniques -8-10--2 - Woe To Them- -11-13-

We begin our study on Jude: Contending for Truth is the title of this series. We want relative truth and not absolute truth today. Jude is going to issue for a command to contend for the Truth. The Holy Sprint of God, who inspired Jude to write this book, wants every believer to contend for the truth. We are just looking at the first two verses and will unpack the two sets of threes. Jude, a servant[a] of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for[b] Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

How Can I Be Saved? by Matt Slick To be saved means to be delivered from the righteous judgment of God. So when someone asks “How can I be saved?” the person is asking how to have his/her sins forgiven, to not go to hell, and to go to heaven. Furthermore, it means the person recognizes that he/she has sinned against God by breaking his commandments (1 John 3:4) and that he is not pure, not right with God. This same question is asked in Scripture and the answer is provided. “When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!” 29 And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 and after he brought them out, he said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ 31 They said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household,'” (Acts 16:27-31). The context is that Paul the apostle was being held with other prisoners. But, an earthquake had caused the doors of the jails to open and the jailer was going to kill himself. The reason is that in Roman law at the time, when a guard let a prisoner escape, the guard took the prisoner’s place. Upon hearing Paul saying that everyone was still there, he knew his life had been spared. evidently, he had been listening to Paul preach the gospel about the person and work of Christ. Grateful, he asked, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul’s answer is the answer for everyone, “believe in the Lord Jesus.” But, what does it mean to believe in the Lord Jesus? This question needs a little bit of clarification because in today’s culture there are so many differing views of who Jesus is. There is the Mormon Jesus who is the brother of the devil, the Jehovah’s Witness Jesus who was Michael the Archangel, the Muslim Jesus who was a good prophet, and the one of biblical Christianity (explained below). This is why faith is only as good as you put it in and why we have to ask who is the real Jesus? After all, if you put your faith in someone who is false, your faith is useless. So, let me continue. Belief is a confident trust in the truth of something. To believe in Jesus is more than a mental acknowledgment that he existed. To truly believe in him means to affirm that he is God in flesh (John 1:1, 14), that he died on the cross for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), and that we are justified (made right according to the Law) by faith (Romans 3:28; 4:5; 5:1). Now, everything I’ve said here is not explicitly stated in the quote “believe in the Lord Jesus.” But for those of us who know what the Scriptures teach, the plain truth is that our faith in Christ includes knowing who he is and what he did; namely, that he sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins. Therefore, the answer to the question “How can I be saved?” is simple. You must acknowledge that you have sinned against God (Romans 3:23), that you can do nothing on your own that would be good enough to warrant the forgiveness from God (Isaiah 64:6), and that your sins separated you from God (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 6:23). All that is left for you to do is to trust, by faith, and what Jesus did on the cross. That is how can you be saved. This article first appeared on CARM.ORG Do you have questions about salvation? Jude--Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James,--To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ---May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.--Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.--Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day- just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.--Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, -The Lord rebuke you.- But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. Woe to them- For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for
Today’s Text: Romans 2:1-4; John 8:2-11 When my neighbor is obviously wrong, then he/she must be my enemy. Our culture is an enemy-making machine. “We have become energized and even defined by the enemies we make and the sides we take.” - David Fitch; The Church of Us vs. Them When enemies are revealed as enemies… “…it’s God’s kindness that leads to repentance’” - The Apostle Paul; Romans 2:4 To the church of Jesus Christ… “May we, please, STOP making enemies!” - Anonymous pastor in Kenner For Further Discussion Read John 8:2-11. Have you seen this kind of mob mentality in today’s world? Why do you think they were so motivated to make her their enemy? Was it about her or themselves? How did Jesus disrupt their enemy-making machine? Why do you think people live with a “need” to have/make enemies? Discuss how enemies are revealed versus how enemies are made. What is the Christ-followers response when enemies are revealed?
Expectation is greater than evaluation. Using a number of biblical examples of true searchers, Zach challenges students to continue pursuing a God who pursues His people. He exhorts us to raise our level of expectation when we come before God. Where do you need to enter a new season of expectation? Where do you need to see a fresh manifestation of Jesus Christ? May we see Him in a new light today!

Sermon and readings from Third Sunday of Easter, May 5, 2019. New Testament Reading is from Acts 9:1–22. Second Reading is from Revelation 5:8–14. Holy Gospel is from John 21:1–19. Sermon and readings were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus expresses to his followers that the Earth is ripe for harvest -- essentially, that people are ready for God and His kingdom to break in. Jesus' response to this statement was to immediately send out his disciples into the world sealed by the very same power and authority he ministered with. In this week's podcast, Zeke re-introduces us to this very same progression. Will we respond as Christ did? Will we be a people who choose into this authority and proclaim and demonstrate the good news of Jesus Christ? May you ever be challenged and inspired by this week's word!
Jesus tells about Himself and shows the right way to live.
