Today's episode is an invitation for you to ponder something with me. I'm talking about the worth of souls, and how to love more like God loves. The book I talk about is "You Are Special" by Max Lucado.
Somebody along the way told you that it was wrong to think that you're so special. They made you feel like you were arrogant or self-centered because you focused on your own dreams or thought you were better at something than others.Let me set the record straight right now. YOU ARE SPECIAL. Let's dive in.// If you're looking for exactly what it takes to succeed as an executive, then you're in the right place! So much of it comes down to becoming excellent at communication. In fact, Warren Buffet famously said, “You can improve your value by 50% by learning communication skills or public speaking.”That's why Harrison and his wife, Eileen, created Speaking School™, so you can leverage effective communication to get anything you want from life. In a world filled with challenges, setbacks, and obstacles, there is one fundamental truth that separates those who succeed from those who falter: the unwavering commitment to never give up. It is the very essence of what makes us human – the ability to rise above adversity, to push beyond our limits, and to persevere in the face of overwhelming odds. Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain. It's about embracing the challenges that come our way, seeing them not as barriers but as opportunities for growth and self-discovery. It's about understanding that failure is not the opposite of success but rather an integral part of the journey towards it. When we refuse to give up, we tap into a reservoir of strength and resilience that we never knew we possessed. We become the architects of our own destiny, the masters of our own fate. We learn that our greatest limitations are not external but internal, and that by shifting our mindset, we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way. The power of perseverance is not just a platitude; it is a fundamental law of the universe. It is the force that propels us forward, that drives us to keep going even when every fiber of our being is telling us to quit. It is the key to unlocking our full potential and achieving the extraordinary. So, my friends, I urge you to embrace the power of never giving up. To see every challenge as an opportunity, every setback as a stepping stone towards greatness. To understand that the only true failure is the failure to keep trying, to keep pushing, to keep believing in yourself and your dreams. In this episode, we will explore the ten essential lessons that will help you cultivate a resilient mindset and never give up on your journey towards success. Together, we will learn to harness the power of perseverance, to stay focused on our goals, and to keep moving forward no matter what life throws our way.

YOU ARE AMAZING. In the unfolding tapestry of your life, there lies a profound truth, one that whispers of the interconnectedness of all things. This episode nvites you to dance with the cosmos, to understand that you are not just a part of the universe, but the universe is a part of you. Every atom within you, every beat of your heart, is a note in the grand symphony of existence. You are a vital part of a greater whole. Just as a flower cannot bloom in isolation from the soil, the sun, and the rain, your spirit cannot flourish in isolation from the universe. You are a harmonious blend of matter and spirit, woven intricately into the fabric of all that is. You are both the creator and the observer of your reality. Your thoughts, emotions, and actions are brushstrokes on the canvas of your existence. Yet, at the same time, you are the canvas, the paint, and the artist. You are awakening to the divinity that has always been within you. You are a co-creator with the universe, an integral part of the infinite tapestry of existence. In this realization lies the key to freedom, joy, and the fulfillment of your deepest desires. "You Are Amazing" is not just a statement about your potential; it is a declaration of your inherent nature. As you step into this understanding, embrace the magnificence of your true self, and walk confidently on the path of your divine journey.

When I (Shawna) sold fragrant candles I was told in a training session never to try to sell a fragrance I don’t like. “People know if you’re being fake”, I was told. In the book of Romans Paul tells us “Love must be sincere.” We talk about loving, and honoring one another with all sincerity, even when it’s hard to do. When Jesus walked the earth many people recognized that he performed miracles and spoke with authorities. But those who knew him best knew that he often pulled away to be alone with the Father. Do you regularly pull away to be alone with the Father? Imagine being impressed at a young age to serve God overseas…and that you come from a family of means. You get to see the world as a young man and come back to get your education at a prestigious university. You turn down great job opportunities to pursue your missionary dreams, but enroute to do so, you catch a fatal disease. Was that life wasted? It wasn’t for William Borden. “Who am I?” And “Why am I here?” In a children’s book called You Are Special, Max Lucado introduces us to someone who knows where to find the answer to both questions. Shawna shares the story and challenges us to be like her. “I felt intimidated because of the qualifications to be a Deacon.” That’s how Ben felt when he was nominated to serve the church. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he was already qualified to serve. Our desires are gifts from God. What?! Yep, only when the enemy gets into the mix do our desires lead us away from God. What if we recognized that they are actually gifts from God meant to draw us to closer to Him?Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

No matter what you have done or haven't done, your lovability stays the same. In this episode I describe how this relates to heartbreak being 'the loss of love', and how "The brokenhearted are the bravest among us-they dared to love." I also read the book called "You Are Special" by Max Lucado. I read the story to illustrate how impactful it can be to care more about what others think of us, than how we think of ourselves, or how our creator thinks of us. Jude 1:1-2 - Jude 1:1–2 (ESV) To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. My guest in this episode is Noah Schlosser, my adult son, who's lived with Type 1 diabetes since he was a little guy. Noah believes that finding reasons to celebrate things big and small makes you a more positive person, even if parts of your life bring daily challenges. Frankly, as his caregiver, a celebration mindset, whenever possible, has been a Godsend for me, too, both as I've supported Noah and as I cared for my mom in her final years. This episode is lovingly dedicated to our friends in the Type 1 community, but the principles we cover apply across the board to family caregivers and care receivers everywhere. Resources: Find Noah's work on the web, https://www.noahschlosser.com/ Today's Bible verse, Psalm 118:24 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%20118%3A24&version=NKJV Takeaways: Finding reasons to celebrate brings joy to our lives, even on challenging days. Our family uses a red plate with the words “You Are Special” on it to celebrate all sorts of things. It's special because we make it special. Celebration foods are made more special when we they are saved for special occasions. Reasons to celebrate can include the milestones we typically think of, like birthdays and graduations or “firsts.” Mini celebrations around accomplishments or effort can also elevate our mood and lighten our days. Consider mini celebrations around completion of difficult tasks or just persevering through challenging days or seasons. “Just because” is also a valid reason to celebrate. Get creative! The benefits of finding reasons to celebrate include building confidence around difficult tasks, giving us a breather, bringing people together, encouraging gratitude, and improving our attitudes. Mini celebrations can include a favorite treat, a change of scenery, attendance at an event, tiny gifts, interjection of music (or dancing!) in our days, time playing a game, or just time connecting with family or friends. Are you looking for your moment? I am really honored that we have in the studio today, Max Lucado. I shared with him early on that I only have people on the show, whose work, or life, or what they share has deeply impacted my life. Max Lucado is from Texas. He is an author, father, grandfather, husband, and minister. Max tells us about how he got started in the church and Max acknowledges his struggles and what he overcame when he pivoted towards the Lord and reflecting on what he cherishes now are some of things that he overlooked when he was younger. We talk about one of the only books I have ever read by him, a children's book about Punchinello called You Are Special and besides his newest book release, You Were Made For This Moment: Courage for Today and Hope for Tomorrow. This story comes from the book of Esther from the bible and talks about experiences of overcoming challenges. Max also gives us examples of different Mordecai moments. I share with Max how Punchinello has deeply, deeply impacted my life, even for a little children's book. The concept that our Maker, what he says and what he thinks about us is what sticks. It is a very powerful message. It goes to show us how the story impacts us in a deep way. Max shares the story behind the creation of Punchinello and we dive into how something that can come from an assignment instead of inspiration and shows that God blesses those who keep their promise. We talk about showing up and how God uses that moment of showing up, even when you don't recognize it. That you never know when your moment will make a difference and if you are looking for encouragement, this is a great book to check out. In This Episode [00:37] - Welcome to The Crystal Paine Show today we have in the studio is Max Lucado. [01:01] - I am probably one of the few people in all the world that has only read one and the one that I read was a children's book. [04:54] - Everyone listening, how God can use those things that he is calling you to do even though it might feel like, “I got to get this done because this is an assignment” but you never know how he is going to use that for His Glory. [05:10] - I'd love for you, for the few people who maybe don't know the whole host of things you have done and who you are, just introduce yourself to us. [07:15] - You met the Lord and then you kind of immediately signed up to be a missionary, talk to us about that. [09:24] - And then when you were in Brazil, is when you started writing, how did that come to be? [12:19] - How can a good God be allowing all the things that have happened in the world in the last 18 months, talk to us about that. [15:14] - What is it about the Esther story that you see that is going to infuse people with hope? [16:13] - It reveals to us truly the, also kinda the quiet providence of God, because it's famous for being one of the two books in the bible where the name of God does not appear and yet the fingerprints of God are on every paragraph. [19:03] - The story is not really positive about them in the beginning because they don't, they have blended into the culture. They are so Persian in identity, in language, in dress, in style, and culture that he can work for the king and she can sleep with the king and they never - no one knows they are Jewish. [22:20] - What does that look like practically, for people who they're saying “I want to do something with my life, I feel like there's more than just what I am living for right now but I don't even know how to take the first step. [26:07] - But they are scared; it's hard; what encouragement would you have for someone who is feeling that way? Jesus said that following him was the only route to experiencing “The Good Life.” But how does religion, and especially all of its rules, give us a good life? Maybe the rules are not what Jesus had in mind at all. Maybe he was talking about something so much better and real than simply practicing a religion. Episode Breakdown: 1:00 Let’s Eat Cake! HBD TFS! Some people think that their life is too ordinary. And they compare themselves with others who are living a more exciting life. But I met a lot of very “successful” people who think they’re very ordinary. Stop comparing. Start seeing how special you are. Support the show (https://www.feast.ph/giving/)
You want to set your kids up for success, especially with how they feel and what they believe about their bodies. If you could help spare them years of believing that their body is never good enough, wouldn’t you want to do that? In a culture that’s obsessed with changing and “improving” our bodies, let’s help our kids believe differently. On today’s episode, Scott and I are talking about how you can teach your kids how to embrace (and ultimately care for!) their God-given body. You’ll learn how you can: Teach them all about WHO designed their bodies Teach them all about WHOSE image they’ve been created in Teach them about how God created all of us differently and WHY He intended to do that Your kids are going to feel pressure to change themselves somehow, as if who they are right now is not good enough, but with these intentional conversations (and making sure you believe this about yourself!), you’ll be setting them up for success! In between parking cars for Cubs fans and performing, he began using second-hand recording equipment to piece together his own music. By his twenties, Eddie worked a full-time job started a family and produced music from his studio in Chicago at night. The round-the-clock demands took a toll so he chose his passion for making music, opening Rushing Wind Productions in 2002. After relocating to Chicago’s west suburbs, he constructed an acoustically-sound, stylish 1,000-square-foot home studio in 2007. One look around Eddie’s studio tells a story: Walls are papered with endearing notes praising Eddie’s professionalism, tireless work ethic and musical imagination. Eddie’s work spans the globe.
