Trump Organization employee Matthew Calamari Jr. testified last week before the New York grand jury that's looking into the financial practices of the Trump Organization. It's the same grand jury that indicted then-Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg a few months ago. What should we make of the details that have been reported about this subpoena? And there's also one big problem: both Matthew Calamari Jr. and his father, Matthew Calamari Sr., work at the Trump Organization, and they have the same attorney. On today's episode of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we discuss President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the disastrous Iran deal, one of former President Barack Obama's few foreign policy "legacy" accomplishments. But it was an awful deal, giving Iran everything they wanted, including billions of dollars, on the promise they simply wait until years after Obama left office before building a nuclear bomb. They've been proven to be lying, but still liberals defend it in order to protect Obama's legacy. Isn't it weird how Obama was silent when the Iranian people attempted to rise up against their tyrannical government during the so-called "Arab Spring"? He turned on our allies quickly, turned on governments that were no threat to the U.S., but was silent until it was too late when it came to Iran to protect the prospect of getting his deal. Trump said no more and liberals, in unison, clutched their pearls and the Iranian Parliament greeted the news by burning printouts of the American flag and chanting "Death to America." Who wouldn't trust people like that? (And why do many Iranian politicians carry around lighters? It's almost like they want to be prepared just in case the opportunity to burn an American flag presents itself, or something.) But Obama brought this on himself. By refusing to treat this as a treaty, Obama made it easy for any future president to end the deal. So desperate for anything he could spin as a foreign policy accomplishment, he ripped the treaty clause out of the Constitution and turned it on its head, with the help of Senators Ben Cardin, Democrat from Maryland, and Bob Corker, Republican from Tennessee. It helped drive Corker out of the Senate, as it should have. The primaries last night did not live up to the hype, with none of them being the close races the media tried to hype them to be. Polling, it seems, hasn't really improved since the failures of the 2016 election. But it did give us one moment of levity, when Mitch McConnell made a joke that was actually funny. Don Blankenship, a guy who managed to have negative energy, called McConnell "Cocaine Mitch" in an ad. McConnell responded to Blankenship's distant third place finish by mocking that nickname. Nancy Pelosi is the gift that keeps on giving. At an event yesterday, the would-be-Democratic Speaker of the House proudly admitted she wants to raise taxes on Americans. The best thing Republicans have going for them is the Democratic Party's inability to act like sane people. They can't help themselves because they are desperate to appease their radical fringe. Pelosi's words should be run as a campaign ad from now til November. Finally, President Trump scored another foreign policy victory today when it was announced that Secretary of Stated Pompeo left meetings in North Korea with the three Americans who had been held in prisons there. It's yet another sign of good faith from Kim Jong-Un in the lead up to the meeting between him and President Trump. We can never know if it is sincere, but so far Trump has the despot making gestures unlike others his government has made in the past. It's not been a good 24 hours for liberals, both in the media and out. On the Friday video edition of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we take a look at the NBC News story that stopped all the presses Thursday: President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen had his phones tapped by federal investigators. It was a huge story that was ... not true. It went from the "BREAKING NEWS" pile to a big, steaming pile. NBC News is in desperate need of new sheets after what they did to the bed. Is there no fact-checking or editorial process in media anymore? Of course, the attorney for Stormy Daniels was on MSNBC just moments after the fake story broke and claimed he'd known about it, and that he knew more about it --- saying Cohen's phone calls were listened to, and that his text messages and emails were being monitored. Once the correction was announced, the whole thing was dropped because the narrative could no longer be fed. Speaking of fed, egos were fed Thursday on CNN as journalist April Ryan issued fighting words after an exchange with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Apparently saying "You don't know me" has replaced removing your glove and slapping someone across the face as you challenge them to a duel, at least according to Ryan. The entire exchange was hilariously stupid, so Ryan will likely win many journalism awards for it. The award for sexiest candidate with the most energy in his campaign commercial goes to West Virginia GOP candidate Don Blankenship. In his ad, Blankenship repeatedly refers to "Chinapeople" and "Cocaine Mitch" with all the energy and passion you'd expect ... from someone high on heroin who just took two sleeping pills. It's impossible to parody because it is a parody. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the people who give out the Oscars every year, announced Thursday that they have expelled Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski over their treatment of women. Cosby was recently convicted of three counts of sexual assault and is facing spending the rest of his life in prison, and Polanski drugged and raped an underage girl, then fled the country to avoid being sent to prison. While Cosby was convicted last week, Polanski's crime occurred in 1977 --- 41 years ago. So why is the Academy expelling him now, especially considering it had awarded him with the Best Director Oscar in 2002, where he received a standing ovation? Because the liberals that make up the Academy didn't want to be seen expelling a black guy like Cosby while still having Polanski as a member. They don't really care about either, but considering the perversions that have been exposed in Hollywood since the Harvey Weinstein story broke, they likely thought it would be much better to do both, from a PR perspective. And finally, CNN has a new ad declaring itself the keeper of truth. The ad features a pile of bananas and is, like all the others, beyond parody.
