The Bums kick off the rootftop with a Valhalla bond card dissertation (PGA player edition) with S4:E0110; Caitlin Clark is a role model, but can't escape asshole criticism — simply for being white and straight (WTF); the White Sox and Orioles clash with a debatable and stinky “interference” call; the north siders are stringing together fewer hits than Right Said Fred; emergent NFL broadcaster is awarded an Emmy and a designation for assignment in the same period to make room for TB12; Austin Maddox has a firm grasp on Scum Bag of the Week/Month honors; Netflix reboots an ESPN 30-for-30 gem, “Broke” — a must watch for anyone entering the job market; and close the top with what feels like the end of college sports as we know it. The lower half jumps out with another intergalactically famous beer review, at the hands of a creation from 18th Street Brewing's, “Best Patio Pils”  (ABV 4.9%), a ‘decent' Pilsner style lager with Columbus and Saaz hops; while epic beer maker Lagunitas is shutting down brewing operations at Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood location (thanks Heineken); Eddie and Rocky find a secret squirrel “baby lounge” at Chicago's Salt Shed during a recent show featuring Bad Religion and Social Distortion; the Bums answer the question: What do Red Lobster, Bill Romanowski and Antonio Brown all have in common; Paddy gets super salty (by way of an outlier / QA fail); the Bums lament “No More, No Mow May” (eyes rolling —save the bees); and end with a Paddy Report on a new moniker for scumbag criminals.   Tune in to get a glimpse of awesomeness, it's all we have. Recorded on May 24th, 2024 at B.O.M.'s global headquarters, Paddy's Southside Cave, in Chicago, IL

Patron Tango Charlie shares an aviation backup radio hack. 2. Patron Badger Pilot shares his birthday ATC audio. 3. Patron Charlie Alpha says stamps are like $12 in her country. 4. Patron Mike Romeo successfully completed his multi-engine checkride with Captain Marines!   Feedback 1. We're back! A lot of people say this is “their year” – but what if it's not your day, your month, or even your year? It can feel more isolating when the whole world's moving on and you still find yourself struggling. And so today, we want to talk about giving yourself some grace.  HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK'S SHOW: Being kind to yourself and showing yourself some grace doesn't mean allowing excuses. It means going back to yourself and checking how you're feeling. Recognize the feeling, what's causing it, and let it go. Look back for the last 12 to 18 months, and just see how resilient you are. And you're probably not giving yourself enough credit for everything that you've made it through. It's not a burden to ask. If you don't know where to look for resources, ask people because you're more than likely not the first person to go through this.  There's no pain greater than losing your dog or your loved one but you've got to share your grief at some point and talk about it. Do something productive and positive. Instead of saying "we did this wrong," say, "we could have done it better." Take some time to pray and be intentional with it. If it takes you 30 minutes to watch Friends, then you should be able to take 30 minutes and be with God.  Find a good support system. Hey, Teacher Friend! In today's episode, we are tackling 5 routines and/or strategies that will help you cultivate peace in your personal and family life.  I'm discussing morning routines, weekend planning, my paper planner (that I absolutely LOVE) and the way I communicate in order to get more help!  How do you utilize your time to set up for success at the beginning of every day?  Is your morning routine full of anxious feelings? Are you rushing out the door only to realize you can't find your keys, left your lunchbox or forgot to tell the ones you love “goodbye”?   Are your weekends full of grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning or feeling as if you need a couple of extra days to “get it all done”?  Are you truly resting?  Do you feel prepared before your week begins?  Not only are we seeking “more time” as a teacher, but we are seeking QUALITY of time-the quality that results in peace, enjoyable moments and more opportunities for the people and experiences we care deeply about.     Let's be more intentional about our most precious resource in life-TIME! TCBCast: An Unofficial Elvis Presley Fan Podcast

As a teaser, we've dropped the first 3 full new episodes of TCBCast Now into our main feed over the last 3 months. TCBCast Now is our once-a-month general pop culture spin-off available exclusively for Patreon supporters at Patreon.com/TCBCast. Going forward, we will be releasing short 5-10 minute teasers of our Patreon-exclusive material on the main feed. On this episode of TCBCast Now originally released in early April, Justin finally watches Gurdip's favorite movie of all time: 1975's JAWS, directed by Steven Spielberg himself. While Justin provides his reactions to the film, Gurdip provides all sorts of neat trivia about the making of the film. The guys also briefly touch on their reactions to Zack Snyder's Justice League, the use of Elvis' "Loving Arms" in Godzilla vs Kong, Gurdip reports in on Falcon & The Winter Soldier and Justin fill in on three games he's finished in the past month, as well as a new one I started, Disco Elysium.  For Song of the Week(/Month?), Gurdip confesses he always feels like "Somebody's Watching Me" and picks a 1984 Rockwell classic. Meanwhile, Justin's got a first-class, one-way ticket to the 1999 Weird Al Yankovic comedy-rock epic, "Albuquerque."

If you've been following along on social media, I announced in a livestream at the end of February that our monthly episodes of TCBCast Now, our pop culture discussion experiment, which were originally planned as lower-tier Patreon exclusives, are going to be released on the general feed after approximately one month of patron-exclusivity, as a way of giving listeners a sampler of some of the extra content we have on offer for patrons. So here is February's episode of TCBCast Now, which has us looking at the trailer for Godzilla vs Kong, discussing Marvel's Wandavision (mild spoilers up to Season 1 Episode 4), Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo Switch and tabletop RPG series Critical Role's 4-episode spinoff "Undeadwood." For Song of the Week/Month, Gurdip selects 80s R&B group New Edition's "Mr. Telephone Man" and Justin Gausman picks underlooked 00s pop ballad "When You Say You Love Me," written by Savage Garden's Darren Hayes and recorded by both Clay Aiken and Human Nature. If you enjoy this bonus content, please consider supporting us at Patreon.com/TCBCast. We offer plenty of bonus content - in the month of February we produced over 17 hours of new early access or exclusive content for patrons, including film commentaries, new episodes of Blue Suede Reviews and TCBCast Now, and much much more. If you are unable to support us via Patreon, but want to support us another way, please make sure to leave a review on Apple Podcasts, it's one of the more popular platforms we're heard on and every positive review helps our rankings so that other Elvis fans can find us. Thanks!

What do restaurants do to market to customers in February? One effective way is to join the Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week. Sign up here. It's the best way to get your vegan - message out and to share what's happening in Baltimore. At a time when we need a strong message, for carryout, here's an effective method! When you live in Baltimore, you recognize how many "firsts" have happened here. Today's episode is about another first--the first vegan week in the US. It started here, in Charm City, and is stretching all over Maryland. Interest is growing all over the country, and we are here to encourage restaurants to join because it's a great way to collaborate and be seen. Better yet, given our landscape--carryout only--Vegan Week is actually most of February.  If your restaurant wants to participate, here in Baltimore, you do not need to be a full-vegan business. Promote vegan entrees, snacks and sides, to highlight a tasty part of your menu that may not be well known around town. Now, more than ever you need to be seen. Here is a great way to be seen and gain new followers.

Perhaps it’s the result of a generation that focused on the self. The me generation, the culture of selfishness, the enduring power of the work of Ayn Rand and obsessive focus on self esteem. Maybe these things have come together to make this moment as corrosive as it feels.    So what the answer? The Beatles said that “all we need is love.” The Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, the presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church, also thinks love is the answer, but in a less sentimental and more transformative way. Reverend Curry garnered worldwide attention to his idea in his sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markel in May of 2018.    Now he has taken it step further in his new book Love is the Way: Holding on to Hope in Troubling Times    My conversation with Rev. Michael B. Curry:

We pre-recorded today's conversation via Zoom with Sally Michaels from Frederick County EDA to talk about National Manufacturing Day happening on Friday, October 2, 2020. Sally was in the middle of her vacation and literally pulled off the side of the road near Atlanta, GA to record our show today and talk about the EDA's plans for celebrating the day which they've extended through the month of October. Sally gave us some stats about the number of manufacturing jobs in Virginia & across the US and the ancillary positions they create along with the economic impact of those jobs. She shared some factoids and interesting stats about five things that were invented by women and why manufacturing came to be an important piece for low to middle income families to afford items that were previously financially unattainable. National Manufacturing Day will be virtual this year. You can see the videos of local manufacturing companies and access the information that Sally mentioned during the show on their website: https://www.explorefrederickcareers.com/ and by following them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FrederickCountyEDA You can reach Sally via email to: smichaels@YesFrederickVA.com to inquire about supporting their educational programs.

Aside from widespread panic and confusion, not much. Earth would cool as it does after sunset, and we would be kept warm by the heat retained in the atmosphere, oceans, and land as we are every night. This is with the assumption that the Sun is simply "frozen" for an hour -- say, a giant bushel is put over it. If you actually turned off all fusion in the Sun, it would collapse and then explode, and then we'd have other fish to fry (although it would take longer than an hour for the explosion to happen). Don't get confused -- the Sun doesn't have enough mass to become a supernova, this would be a different process, which won't happen because you can't turn off all fusion in the Sun. Though there is a small but finite probability that it can stop right now on its own. But it won't. Very probably. Very. But it could. #010: How to Build a Morning Routine & Slay Your Day, Week, Month & Life

Adventurous Faith: Life to the Full

A few years back I realized something about my mornings - they were terrible. And by terrible I mean I would roll out of bed and then before I knew it or realized it I would find myself at the gym. Later in the day, I would notice how much purpose it lacked. I wasn't sure of where it went. Pretty soon I realized that if I wanted my life to go somewhere and have direction, I needed to build better days. It didn't take me long to realize that in order to build more productive days, I needed to begin with a morning routine.  A MORNING ROUTINE TO SLAY YOUR DAY, WEEK, MONTH & LIFE It took me a while to figure it out, but I began to grab some traction with my mornings. I would change it up to see what worked and chuck anything that didn't seem to fit. My mornings, over the course of time, began to take shape. It was then I noticed something pretty amazing - my days began to look radically different too. And I don't mean I had "better days" or that I felt better - although that was mostly true. My days became much more productive and meaningful. I got more done. I am learning that if you can make a good to-do list and accomplish good, purposeful work every day - you'll go places. But that is where most of us get stuck. We don't know how to get to those purposeful days because we don't' know how to get started on the right foot. And the right foot is the morning routine. In this episode of Adventurous Faith, we talk about the importance of the morning routine. When you can learn to build a morning routine for yourself, it can change your life. To be honest with you, I wouldn't be where I am today without having started to form this morning routine almost two years ago. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN ABOUT IN THIS EPISODE Why a Morning Routine is so important. We think that if we can get ourselves up in the morning and start working that everything will work itself out. But that isn't necessarily the case. There's more to it. How to get started with a morning routine. It's never been a one size fits all approach. We'll talk about how you can get started and what you'll need to get started. What a morning routine should look like. While there is scientific evidence to support specific activities while avoiding others, each person's routine will look different. Ben's Morning Routine. It's not perfect, and I have changed it many times to fit my current season of life. It's working right now and producing excellent results. RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE When by Daniel Pink. This book is fascinating and very practical when it comes to the scientific evidence of timing and getting stuff done.
