Episode 84 takes us to San Leonardo Family Estate, one of Trentino's most iconic names, set in the shadow of the Dolomites and guided by the Guerrieri Gonzaga family. Pierre Ferland sits down with the charismatic Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga for a lively, story driven conversation that moves from history to terroir, and from bottle ageing to the future of wine itself. Why do some call San Leonardo "Bordeaux with Alpine poise"? How does a narrow valley, fewer hours of direct sunlight, and the Ora wind from Lake Garda shape freshness, lower alcohol, and elegance? We unpack the estate's philosophy, the origins of their flagship San Leonardo wine, and the underrated star of the cellar: Carménère, often mistaken for Cabernet Franc and wildly different here than in Chile. We also dive into the craft side: concrete vats, restrained oak, extraction choices, and what makes Terre such a joy to drink. Then, in the bonus episode, we go deeper into sustainability, Equalitas, biodiversity, pergola versus Guyot, climate change planning, and yes, the famous San Leonardo garden.   For more information about our Podcast, visit us on the web: https://readbetweenthewines.com Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/betweenthewinesmedia Connect with us on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/read-between-the-wines

O que é a Nova Aliança? - Pr.

Host: Annik Sobing Guests: Elisabeth Sherrell, Alicia Bryant, Kelsey Moraski Published: February 2026 Length: ~30 minutes Presented by: Global Training Center Partnership with ICPA  ICPA Compliance Corazón: Community, Careers, and a Fiesta of Global Trade In this special Simply Trade Roundup, Annik sits down with ICPA's new executive director, Elisabeth Sherrell, and board members Alicia Bryant and Kelsey Moraski to talk about what makes ICPA such a unique home for trade compliance professionals—and what to expect at the 2026 ICPA Annual Conference, “Compliance Corazón: Fiesta of Global Trade,” in San Antonio. From career-defining connections to real-world problem solving over breakfast, this episode shines a light on the people, purpose, and heart behind ICPA. What You'll Learn in This Episode Who's who at ICPA now Meet new executive director Elisabeth Sherrell and board members Alicia Bryant (Edgewell Personal Care) and Kelsey Moraski (global trade, supply chain, and risk). Why each of them joined the ICPA board and how they see the mission evolving. Why ICPA matters for your career How attending ICPA conferences helped Alicia earn her customs broker license and expand her role into broker auditing, FTAs, and classification. Why Kelsey calls ICPA one of the few places where people truly understand the real risk and gray areas compliance professionals live in every day. Inside the 2026 ICPA Annual Conference – San Antonio Dates: March 1–4, 2026 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio on the River Walk. Theme: “Compliance Corazón – Fiesta of Global Trade” with a strong focus on community, culture, and practical problem solving. Content highlights: deep dives on Canada (including CARM and current China‑related developments), regional customs updates (e.g., Latin America sessions led by experts like Brenda Cordova), technology and AI in trade compliance, and navigating today's “most exciting and challenging” era for trade. Registration is still open, but the hotel is smaller and spots are filling fast, with many attendees registering in the last 45 days. Virtual attendance remains an option for those who cannot travel. Culture, community, and the “Voices of Compliance” How ICPA grew from an idea shared by Elisabeth's mom and co‑founder Linda into a global community where people show up for each other—professionally and personally. Plans to honor Elisabeth's mother in San Antonio with a memorial moment and a new Voices of Compliance performance: a rewritten “Deep in the Heart of Texas” celebrating tariffs and trade (yes, with audience clapping). Stories of members supporting each other through life events and why “compliance with heart” isn't just a tagline. Problem solving in person Why the real magic of ICPA happens in the hallways and at breakfast tables: people bring real problems, not just citations, and work through them together. Kelsey's Alex Honnold analogy: compliance pros as the climbers who truly understand the risk, and ICPA as the rare room where everyone “speaks the same language.” Building the next generation of trade professionals How ICPA is actively bringing students and early‑career professionals into the fold, including full conference scholarships (like for student Jake Boggs, who left with multiple job offers). Elisabeth's 20‑year vision: seeing “trade compliance professional” standing alongside firefighter and nurse on career day—and why she wants to introduce more young people to this path. Hot topics Alicia and Kelsey are watching at ICPA Technology and AI: why you can't just “slap tech” on broken processes—garbage in, garbage out—and how companies are really rolling out tools in compliance. Volatility and gray areas: how different companies are interpreting risk, handling USMCA changes, and navigating fast‑moving geopolitical shifts, especially in Canada and beyond. ICPA Conference Details 2026 ICPA Annual Conference – Compliance Corazón: Fiesta of Global Trade Dates: March 1–4, 2026 Location: Grand Hyatt San Antonio, River Walk Format: In‑person with virtual option Focus: Practical sessions, regional experts, technology, risk, and a strong emphasis on networking, mentorship, and community. ICPA Europe Conference Location: Dresden Germany, April 8-10, Hilton Credits Host: Annik Sobing Guests: Elisabeth Sherrell, Alicia Bryant, Kelsey Moraski Producer: Lalo Solorzano Subscribe & Follow New Roundup episodes every week. Ragan restructured the expo for better vendor ROI, including a shop-owner-only show-floor window on opening night. They composed questions for Ministers, co-designed scrutiny themes, and helped MSPs hear lived experience in people's own words.   In this episode, Afam and Justine explain what that work involved, why the experience mattered, and how the framework they helped shape is now influencing organisations beyond Holyrood.

In this sensory-driven episode, Janina is joined by Sietze Wijma, founder of The Art of Tasting, to explore how flavour molecules shape our experience of wine. From chemistry to culture, Sietze shares how our environment, memories, and even our saliva can change what we taste in the glass. Together, they unpack the science behind wine aromas, tasting faults, and why perception is as much about learning as it is about the senses.   Shownotes [00:26] Janina introduces her guest, Sietze Wijma, recognised at the 67 Pall Mall Global Communicator Awards for his work blending sensory science and wine education. [01:49] Quick wine fact — how saliva enzymes alter sweetness and release fruity aromas in Sauvignon Blanc. Based on info from The Cynic's Guide to Wine by Sunny Hodge (Guest on Ep 232) [03:41] Sietze explains The Art of Tasting and how adding isolated flavour compounds helps students identify key aromas. [04:31] How flavour molecules like those in green bell peppers naturally occur in wine. [05:28] Using “spiked” neutral wines as a training tool before tasting commercial wines. [06:19] Butter, vanilla, and yogurt notes — breaking down malolactic fermentation, oak ageing, and lees stirring. [08:00] How culture shapes perception: diacetyl (buttery aroma) described as baklava in Turkey or dahi in India. [09:36] Sietze's journey from studying flavour chemistry in beer to founding his own wine-focused aroma lab in the UK. [11:03] The “bird-watching” analogy — tasting is about recognition, not sensitivity; anyone can train their palate. [12:57] Identifying key wine aroma families — pyrazines, TDN, and rotundone — and how they appear in specific grape varieties. [13:55] Pyrazines and their link to green bell pepper notes in Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère. [15:10] TDN and the petrol character in Riesling — how sunlight and bottle age intensify the aroma. [17:04] Rotundone and the black-pepper signature of cool-climate Syrah and white-pepper notes of Grüner Veltliner. [20:04] How different cultures interpret the same aroma — ginseng and pyrazines in Chinese Cabernet Sauvignon. [21:27] The “ladybug taint” — an uncommon wine fault caused by crushed beetles releasing pyrazine compounds. [23:32] Common wine faults explained: cork taint (TCA), reduction, light strike, oxidation, and brettanomyces. [28:09] Story time — Sietze recalls mistaking oxidation for an open-too-long bottle in Austria. [30:14] Brettanomyces and the fine line between savoury complexity and spoilage. [32:31] The Château de Beaucastel example — when Brett becomes part of terroir and debate. [33:13] Tasting myths: why aromas like “green bell pepper” don't mean actual allergens in wine. [34:37] How to improve blind tasting skills at home using aroma kits and DIY spiked wines. [36:28] Why tasting side-by-side is key to better identification and learning. [37:55] The “mouseiness” fault — why some aromas appear only after tasting due to pH and acidity. [42:46] Helen Keller's quote on scent and memory — a poetic close to a science-rich episode.

Thanks to our Partners, NAPA Auto Care and NAPA TRACS Watch Full Video Episode Joe Marconi, former shop owner, Elite Worldwide coach, is defining the challenge in today's automotive aftermarket: the need for specialization. The End of the Generalist Era - Modern vehicles are too complex for the “all makes, all models, all repairs” approach. Marconi shared that when he tried doing everything—from transmission rebuilds to diagnostics—profitability disappeared. The time, training, and tooling required simply didn't make sense. Specialization: The Smarter Path Forward - Like medicine's cardiologists and neurologists, automotive professionals must focus their expertise. Specialization boosts productivity, profit, and performance while creating better outcomes for customers. Redefining Professionalism and Language - Replace “mechanic” or “tech” with “technologist” or “specialist.” - Use precise titles like “calibration specialist” to build client confidence. - Adopt “Essential Skilled Occupation (ESO)” to better reflect the professionalism of today's technicians. Building Career Paths and Attracting Talent - Specialization creates clear career pathways and helps combat the technician shortage, offering young people a profitable, purpose-driven alternative to a four-year degree. Today we’re shifting gears. We’ve had an eighteen-episode class delving into biblical and contextual study of 1 Corinthians. Then last time we had an interview with someone struggling with mental health. For the next several weeks we’re going deep into Christology. This is going to be a five-part series of interviews with Brandon Duke reviewing an important book that came out last November defending the deity of Christ from a trinitarian perspective. In what follows Brandon and I discuss the arguments they make and respond to them. Our hope is that this series will (1) build your confidence in your biblical unitarian faith, (2) train you to see the flaws in their approach, and (3) equip you with responses to these types of arguments. Together Brandon and I offer two complimentary lenses through which to analyze and respond. Whereas Brandon is well versed in analytic theology and the philosophical approach, I’m more specialized in the exegesis of biblical texts in their original languages and historical context. Together I think we make a great team to guide you through this journey. Today’s episode is about divine honors. Did Jesus receive honors only appropriate for God? All flourishing is mutual, that's a given. And yet the schisms in our culture, the tribal divides and limbic hijack seem to grow deeper and more powerful by the day. It doesn't have to be like this.  We do have the tools of connection, of genuine listening, of offering trust to gain trust and offering respect to gain respect, we just need to know how  - and when - to put them into practice.  If we're going to move forward into that future we'd be proud to leave behind, we need to start practicing these skills as if the world depended on them - because it does.  This week's guest is someone who practices and teaches the deep, transformative skills of conflict resolution daily.  Carm Aufderheide has a master's degree in conflict and dispute resolution (CRES), and qualifications in positive reinforcement dog training from the Karen Pryor Professional Dog Training Academy (KPA-CTP and CPDT-KA) and in Separation Anxiety from Malena DeMartini, bringing both to her consultations in her NorthStar Training Solutions in Oregon. Together, these put her right in the middle of quite fierce conflicts that rage around the dog training world over the various styles of dog training, most of which boil down to: do we use force or don't we?  This is a perfect microcosm of the greater macrocosm of our torn and wounded world and Carm brings her dual skills to this with grace and intelligence and a fierce compassion that is a joy to encounter.  I first came across Carm on the Functional Dog Collaborative podcast and was blown away by the clarity of her thinking, and her capacity to live true to her convictions. I made contact later that day and we set up time for the podcast.  That was roughly six months ago, when the world was a different place. Now, recording on the day of the Pope's death, as our reality spirals deeper into chaos, it feels ever more essential that we learn these skills.   Carm suggested a whole set of reading before we recorded and I have put a link to all the books, as well as Carm's NorthStar website in the show notes.   Northstar Training Solutions https://www.northstartraining.info/ Street Epistemology https://www.streetepistemology.com/Albert Mehrabian's 7-38-55 Rule https://www.rightattitudes.com/2008/10/04/7-38-55-rule-personal-communication/Carm on the Functional Dog Collaborative podcast Carm's Recommended readingHow Minds Change by David McRaneySupercommunicators by Charles Duhigg High Conflict by Amanda RipleyThe Book of Beautiful Questions by Warren BergerNever Split the Difference by Chris VossWe Can Work it Out by Marshall RosenbergIf you're interested in joining us at a Gathering, or in the Membership, please follow the links below: Accidental Gods Gatherings https://accidentalgods.life/gatherings-2025/Accidental Gods Membership https://accidentalgods.life/join-us/
