Send us a textIn the second installment of the Election Night from 1992, we see the official changing of the guard. It is at this moment, on election night, that one generation of leadership gives way to another. The World War 2 Presidents, that had served from two generations, those who ran the war : Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Dwight Eisenhower, followed by the generation of leaders who were troops in the war : John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush, were now finally leaving the center stage of American politics, or so it seemed. 10 United States Presidents in all, would now be replaced by the nations' first Baby Boomer President. Bill Clinton will win on this night. In this episode, we will hear from all the candidates for President and Vice President , but one, and we will watch as the Greatest Generation, symbolized by George Bush, gracefully leaves the stage. Then we will hear the national address from Little Rock, on the steps of the Arkansas Capitol, as Bill Clinton begins to take the reigns of power, inheriting a country that now stood alone as the leading economic and military super power on Earth. A gift left to him by the 10 Presidents and their fellow leaders of the generation of leaders who made it all possible. Tune in to this episode of Unnatural Selection for an inside look at ABC's on-air drama, expert breakdowns and the unforgettable moments that defined Australia Votes 2025. This episode has been edited down from a longer live stream. Early in the evening, Antony Green called a Labor majority. Antony Green delivered his final on-air analysis after 36 years, walking viewers through seat-by-seat results. Mid-evening saw Opposition Leader Peter Dutton unseated in Dickson by Labor's Ali France—the first time an opposition leader has lost their own seat in 125 years. Dutton's concession speech and his first show of human emotion. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's emotional victory speech promised cost-of-living relief, healthcare expansion and accelerated climate action
The mood inside Labor HQ was jubilant as it became clear that against all expectations, Anthony Albanese had led the Labor party to victory, with a significantly increased majority. For the coalition the outcome is devastating, and Peter Dutton is out of a job. On top of that, the next generation of Liberal leadership has been wiped off the electoral map, setting the party back for years to come. Today, we take you inside Anthony Albanese’s election night party with special correspondent for The Saturday Paper Jason Koutsoukis. We find out how Labor defied the odds and what it means for the country. If you enjoy 7am, the best way you can support us is by making a contribution at 7ampodcast.com.au/support. Prime Minister Mark Carney says he has a lot of energy and a lot to do on the day after his party won a minority mandate; Could Pierre Poilievre be parachuted in to run for an Alberta seat after losing race in Ottawa?
By the time you're listening to this you know how it all turned out: Carney's the PM, a plurality of voters went Conservative though not enough in Carleton to send the leader back to the House. The NDP are decimated, the Greens are down to one seat again, and the Bloc have called a truce in the name of "national unity"(?). What an election! Let's live through it all again!! From 8 pm to midnight on Election Night, the tag team of me and Scotty Hertz, plus CFRU programming director (and renowned Wikipedia editor) Christopher Currie, were live to air covering the results as they came into the CFRU newsroom... through the CBC's live vote tracker page. The focus was local, with coverage of the two Guelph ridings, but our view was nation-wide from coast to coast to coast. And there were some special guests as well! Over the course of the night we heard from Emily Blake, the associate editor of Cabin Radio, a Local Journalism Initiative reporting on the Dehcho region and the Northwest Territories' housing crisis that's funded in part by the Government of Canada. We also heard from Kim Siever from The Alberta Worker, an independent media outlet that focuses on labour and politics founded in April 2020. So let's relive the 2025 Canadian Election on this week's Guelph Politicast! Keep tuning in to Open Sources Guelph Thursdays at 5 pm on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca! Liberal Leader Mark Carney will form Canada's next government, though it remains unclear if he will lead a minority or majority parliament. Matt Galloway digs into what happened overnight, from where the Liberals won and lost, to the collapse of the NDP and Jagmeet Singh's resignation, to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre losing his seat in the Ottawa riding of Carleton, but insisting he'll stay on to steer the party. Then, former cabinet minister Sean Fraser said that he wouldn't seek re-election, but changed his mind after a call from new Liberal Leader Mark Carney. He tells Galloway about the conversation that convinced him to change his mind, and Carney's promise of a better work-life balance now that Fraser has retained his seat in Central Nova.Plus, how are the winners and losers feeling as the dust begins to settle on a tight race with plenty of surprises? Galloway talks to re-elected Liberal Wayne Long, who was among the first in his party to call for former prime minister Justin Trudeau to step down; Andrew Lawton, author of Pierre Poilievre: A Political Life and the newly elected Conservative MP for Elgin-St. Thomas-London South; and Heather McPherson, the NDP's re-elected MP for Edmonton Strathcona, who some observers are saying could be the NDP's next leader. We also check in with voters and political commentators we met on The Current's election road show to hear how they're feeling about the results. Also, what are Conservatives thinking this morning — and should Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre resign the party leadership? Galloway talks to Peter MacKay, a Conservative cabinet minister in former prime minister Stephen Harper's government, who ran for party leadership in 2020.And Liberal Leader Mark Carney has said he'll govern for all Canadians, but a tight race has laid bare some of the divisions he'll face as he tries to unite Canada in the face of threats from U.S. President Donald Trump. Galloway talks to three people experienced in the challenges of governing Canada: former NDP MP Matthew Dubé, former Liberal MP Martha Hall Findlay, and Conservative Chris Alexander, who served as minister of citizenship and immigration under Stephen Harper.

Canadians have re-elected a Liberal government — proof that a few months, a new leader, and a dose of Trump panic can shift the political winds. On this special late-night edition of West of Centre: After Dark, host Rob Brown convenes Liberal strategist Sabrina Grover, conservative strategist Sarah Biggs and NDP strategist Cheryl Oates for hot takes, hard truths and a touch of political therapy.Running on election night pizza and too much caffeine, the panel unpacks how the Liberals pulled off a surprise comeback, why the Conservatives might be in turmoil despite a historic share of the vote, and what's left for the NDP after a crushing collapse. From Pierre Poilievre potentially losing his seat, to who might be plotting to replace party leaders, to Danielle Smith preparing for another round with Ottawa — this episode has it all, except the final results. (Note: This conversation was recorded at 11 p.m. MT on election night, with several key ridings still undecided.)

We present our The West Wing (Season 4) review! The fourth season of the American political drama television series The West Wing aired in the United States on NBC from September 25, 2002 to May 14, 2003 and consisted of 23 episodes. The fourth season covers the end of Bartlet's fourth year of his first term in office through the beginning of the first year of his second term. The season begins with the continuation of the election storyline with the president touring the nation and his staff trying to firm up presidential debates. The storyline ends in a clear victory for Bartlet less than halfway through the season in "Election Night". Other plots include Sam leaving the White House to run in a special election in California, the news of the Abdul Shareef assassination resonating both inside and outside the U.S., Will Bailey taking Sam's position after coming over from the California campaign's staff, the President and his staff facing the reality of an overseas genocide, and Vice President Hoynes being forced to resign after a sex scandal is uncovered. The fourth season ends with Bartlet's youngest daughter being taken hostage. Bartlet ends up invoking the 25th Amendment in the final episode, "Twenty Five." Since no one had been nominated to replace Hoynes, the presidency passes to the iron-willed conservative Republican Speaker of the House, Glen Allen Walken.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Big Philanthropy and the so-called “good government” groups that it funds have a “solution” (I'm making air-quotes) to partisan gerrymandering: The “independent redistricting commission.” With funding from left-of-center groups like the Sixteen Thirty Fund, the National Redistricting Action Fund, the SEIU, the NEA, and the Quadrivium Foundation, a supposed political neophyte named Katie Fahey (whom media reports placed at Hillary Clinton's 2016 Election Night event) campaigned to establish one in Michigan during the 2018 election. Fahey won, and then 13 citizens went about drawing Michigan's congressional and state legislative districts after the 2020 Census. Joining my Michigan-based colleague Ken Braun and I to discuss her experiences inside Michigan's redistricting commission is Rebecca Szetela, who served as the Commission Chair from September 2021 through March 2022. Jim kicks things off by citing a massive lie that has been obvious for years and finally exploded for all the world to see this year. Greg focuses on an obvious Trump campaign policy statement that the left and its media allies immediately twisted into a sinister promise of mayhem if Trump lost. It was nothing of the sort. Then it's time for the best political theater of 2024, with Jim choosing an indelible campaign moment in the midst of shock and horror. Jim explains why that moment had such a profound impact on many Americans. While Greg wholeheartedly agrees with Jim's selection, he points out one of the worst examples of the left not handling Election Night very well. Finally, they cringe remembering the worst political theater of 2024. Jim singles out a key moment from the Democratic National Convention that served as a final insult to the outgoing president. Meanwhile, Greg finds his worst political theater in in a pair of New York courtrooms..Please join us on Friday as Jim and Greg hand out their awards for Best Political Idea, Worst Political Idea, and Boldest Tactic for 2024.
