The Miracle on 34th Street is presented by members of The Guild of Saint Genesius, Loras College’s honor society for theatre arts as part of the Loras Players. Jake Heelein (’22) directed the play and is also a member of the cast, along with Amelia Foley (’21), Sam Martin (’21), Catherine Weltzer (’21), Josh Vogt (’21), Emily Lemire (’22), Emma Hennessy (’23), Lillian Feltes (’23), Brittany Zanazaro (’20), Nell Boylan (’22), and Dr. John Eby. Miracle on 34th Street is the story of a department store Santa who claims he’s the real Kris Kringle. When his case gets taken all the way to the Supreme Court, the belief of a little girl makes all the difference.
The Loras Players present their rendition of H.G. Wells’ classic tale, “The War of the Worlds". This production features Ramsey Schulz (’22), Sam Martin (’21), Jake Heelein (’22), Josh Vogt (’21), Liberty Foht (’24), Emma Hennessy (’23), and Sean Spicer (’23), with stage management by Amelia Foley (’21) and audio engineering by Benjamin Drury. Director of Theatre, Ryan Decker provides sound design, editing and direction. First published as a novel in 1898, “The War of the Worlds” is the story of humankind’s battle with a hostile invading extraterrestrial army. It was famously brought to life by Welles during a live broadcast as a Halloween episode of the radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air on October 30, 1938.
