Found another great reminder that I think many in the world need to remind themselves of, about what is truly impressive. The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) gives us a fantastic reminder. It's not the money, status, job titles, etc. It really comes down to how we treat others. There seems to be plenty of examples all over the place of how to NOT treat others. It's too bad there are so many. It's up to us to try and show others the correct way to do this. The world needs us to step up and do this the right way. Thanks for listening. YOU"RE NOT ALONE>>>Website: https://www.nami.org/HomePhone: NAMI HELPLINE 800-950-6264 or TEXT "helpline" to 62640In 2020, the nation took a significant step forward with the enactment of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, a bill NAMI advocated for that created a nationwide three-digit number (988) to assist people experiencing a mental health or suicidal crisis. This number is now available in communities across the country.NAMI recognizes that other organizations have drawn distinctions between what diagnoses are considered “mental health conditions” as opposed to “mental illnesses.” We intentionally use the terms “mental health conditions” and “mental illness/es” interchangeably.A mental illness is a condition that affects a person's thinking, feelings, behavior, or mood. These conditions deeply impact day-to-day living and may also affect the ability to relate to others. If you have — or think you might have — a mental illness, the first thing you must know is that you are not alone. Mental health conditions are far more common than you think, mainly because people don't like to, or are scared to, talk about them. However:1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24A mental health condition isn't the result of one event. Research suggests multiple linking causes. Genetics, environment, and lifestyle influence whether someone develops a mental health condition. A stressful job or home life makes some people more susceptible, as do traumatic life events. Biochemical processes and circuits and basic brain structure may play a role, too.None of this means that you're broken or that you, or your family, did something “wrong.” Mental illness is no one's fault. And for many people, recovery — including meaningful roles in social life, school, and work — is possible, especially when you start treatment early and play a strong role in your own recovery process.THERE'S HELP & HOPE...
Ep #254 - People are awesome. People are rude. People are friendly. People are cruel. We do not control how people treat or behave around us. We are in control of how we react and respond - and sometimes, it doesn't even feel like we are in control of that. A key I have reasoned is that I will treat others how I want to be treated as much as I can. I have bandwidth issues. I overload my plate. I do not think I am infallible or above the human condition of misjudging others and the situation. I practice patience, understanding, and the Neuro-Linguistice Programming [NLP] presupposition of "my map is not the territory." Curious as to what that means? Just hit play, and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies, bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now. It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN. In this episode, my guest is someone whose work I have followed for a while and am always impressed by. She's also part of a ‘power couple' I admire deeply. Kim Polman is an international public speaker, a polymath, and a citizen of the world. She's an American by birth, has lived all over the world and has lived in London (where she's now based) for many years. She's been an environmentalist for decades, has taught music and is vice chair of a charity dedicated to literacy for blind and visually impaired children in East Africa. But, most importantly for the focus of our interview here, Kim is an avid advocate of the Golden Rule, ‘treating others and the planet as you would wish to be treated.' In 2016, she and Stephen Vasconcellos-Sharpe invited 25 of the world's most respected leaders and thinkers, like Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Vice President Al Gore, to talk about Golden-Rule roadmaps for business and government. In our conversation, we focus on what the Golden Rule means for leaders - and in real life for everyday people. Kim talks about the ripple effect of ‘doing to others what you would want done to you' in the world of work and in the world. We touch on the value of connection and interconnectedness and how that flavours any action we take. Kim unpacks the discomfort of change through the metaphor of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It's messy and a little bit gross… but the end is worth it.So, join us as we reflect together on what happens when the Golden Rule guides a leader or a business, and how it is exactly what we all need to shift our thinking, our behavior and the world around us. Because we are all connected and any individual can make a difference. Key Points Discussed: How everyday life news brought discomfort to Kim that inspired her in her journey (05:10) The simplicity of the golden rule that cuts through the world's complexity (08:20) The hunger among leaders to embrace the golden rule (12:44) How the golden rule emerge as Kim's guiding principle (15:24) The personal becoming public (16:56) Work communication guiding rule: Kindness first (20:01) The appreciation that we are all connected and giving empathy and compassion (22:03) A Marshal Plan for the environment (23:51) The need for balance (25:17) The necessary discomfort of knitting together and activating the imaginal cells (27:48) What are you feeling hearing this principle (31:00) It's the storm before the calm, and you are not alone in this greater desire for connection, walk on (34:22) How to apply the golden rule today (35:58) The awareness that the old way of doing things just isn't working anymore and coming with a new way of thinking (41:32) The importance of being rather than merely doing (47:39) Surviving the lockdowns and learning lessons from the experience (53:07) Resources Mentioned: Reboot The Future Reboot The Future Facebook Page Connect with Kim: Kim on Reboot The Future Kim on Twitter Connect with Betsy: Betsy on Instagram Betsy on Twitter Betsy on Linkedin Rate, Review, Learn, and Share Thanks for tuning into The Discomfort Practice! Hey family, throughout this series called Resurrecting Faith, we’ve been talking about how God responds to us when we sin. And not only how he responds, but how his word leads us to repent as well. But this week we’re going to look at how to respond to one another when we’ve blown it—when we’ve failed to live up to even our own standards, let alone God’s. How do we help to restore each other? I look forward to seeing you at 10 am Sunday at 360 Schermerhorn. We are definitely seeing many people return now that so many have been fully vaccinated! We continue with our efforts to keep our worship space clean and to check temperatures and provide sanitizer and masks to those who need them. Kids’ Church is also live at 360 Schermerhorn on Sundays, in their kids-only, brand-new classroom! If you can’t make our live service, there will be a preview online Saturday at 6 p.m. via Facebook Live (RHOW-BK page) and on Zoom, 472 778 7718, password 0825. Kids’ Church can be accessed on Sunday at 10 a.m. via Zoom ID 988 1189 3709, pw 7X1kT5. --Edwin Twitter Facebook Website

In this lesson, we are challenged to judge others correctly, with love, and without hypocrisy. Jesus also reminds us to ASK – SEEK - KNOCK as our Father in Heaven is there for us. This is the sixth lesson taught in a 7-week series called "The Sermon on the Mount." Join the ladies every week by listening here or join the live stream every Tuesday morning at 10:00 CST on our website. This lesson was taught at Mission Covenant Church on March 2, 2021.
