Kelly's Lot was formed in 1994 by Kelly Zirbes, a folk singer/songwriter with a heart for the blues. With 14 CDs and lots of touring in the USA and Europe, the band will celebrate 25 years since the first night the band hit the stage at the Roxy in Hollywood. Kelly Z met soundman, Perry Robertson, in 1996 who soon produced their ‘Live at the Troubadour’ CD. Within a year he joined the band, started writing songs with Kelly Z and added the Southern Rock and Texas influences that have shaped their sound. As a duo or band, they have played coffee shops, theaters, festivals, clubs, house concerts and a variety of events. In the last 15 years they have created an 5-8 piece Blues band that is well respected in the American Blues Scene. Some of the larger festivals they have played are Waterfront Blues, Simi Valley Cajun and Blues Festival, Ventura County Blues Festival, Lavaudieu Music Festival. Their songs have been heard in movies and television and covered by other artists. Kelly Z is currently working on songs for a couple film projects while still grabbing some inspiration from her fans on facebook. Challenging them to look in their hearts and share just one word, she then challenges herself to choose a word and write a song in two hours. Perry Robertson, who shares the band leader title with Kelly Z, has recorded and produced most of the band’s music including the recently released 'Can't Take My Soul’. the new CD features AmericanA, Blues, Folk and Roots/Rock creations . It’s a journey of messages, inspirations and some toe tapping rhythms. Mostly featuring a 4 piece of guitar, bass, drums and vocals, the CD also offers some accordion, harmonica, keys and even a Kelly Z whistle. As a duo, a 4 piece or a full 8 piece band they always pack a lot of energy while still getting to the heart of the listener.Check out Kelly's Lot at their website, kellyslot.com Support the show (http://www.wildmansteve.com/MEMBERS.html)

Howard Glazer is a masterful guitarist whose deep-voice vocals are expressive and solidly delivered. He draws from a wide musical background to create a powerful blend of serious blues, rock and acoustic compositions, yielding an uncompromising sound. His fifth album, Looking In The Mirror, was released on October 21st, and Howard will join me to discuss his musical journey and the new album. Marcia Ball is a word-class keyboard player with an incredible vocal talent and has performed at festivals and clubs around the globe. The singer/pianist has been blending Texas blues, Louisiana swamp ballads and New Orleans second-line rhythms into her distinctive roadhouse roots-rock for 30 years, and now her 13th album, The Tattooed Lady & The Alligator Man has been released and Marcia is creating a stir all over again. I will sit with Marcia and discuss her long career and the new album and what she has in store for 2015. Dave Specter has earned an international reputation as one of the premier talents on the Chicago blues scene and around the globe. is latest album, Message In Blue was released this past May and has received wonderful reviews across the board. Dave and I will discuss his career and his love of the Blues while listening to music from his latest release. Kelly Zirbes returns with her new album, Don't give My Blues Away for the COUCH KID NEW MUSIC SEGMENT this week and we will find out what this great singer, and interviewer has been up to since she first sat On The Couch back on July 15, 2013, while we listen to cuts from the album. "Musicians You Should Know"
Kelly's Lot plays Americana and Blues with a roadhouse rockin' sound that is upbeat, heartfelt and fun. The band was formed in 1995 by singer Kelly Zirbes after years of songwriting and playing for friends and family. Kelly Z, a folk singer with a heart for southern rock and blues, recorded her first demo CD, "Kelly's Lot", with J. Peter Robinson, composer and keyboard player. Working with Peter and manager Alex Rylance was the inspiration Kelly needed to actually pursue music as more than just a hobby. Kelly was always a late bloomer and music was no exception. "With age comes fearless confidence or maybe it was a little bit of 'life is too short'”. For more info on Kelly's Lot, check out ur blog at http://TheSashaMarinaShow.com
Happy Mother's Day, Everyone!!! An Eclectican Mother's Day, 2010Welcome one and all! There's little preamble needed for this episode, other than that I hope you enjoy this little musical tribute to mothers of all shapes, types, sorts & sizes (and hopefully that you do so with your mother. :)) There is some blues and a mother-daughter song put in here to send a "hello" out to my own mother, but there are also songs about Mother Earth and other types of mothers, as every mama is special. ^_^ May all of you have a splendid Mother's Day, and a big "thank you" to all the mothers out there, as well as all the fantastic people (male & female) who've done their own shares (if not moreso) of mothering in my life. :)I Love you, Mom.Yours Forever in Song,DJ Selchie♥Track ListPaul and Storm - Mother's Day SongMean Gene Kelton and the Die Hards - Sweet Mother BluesLance Larson - Happy Mother's DayKevin Reeves - MotherEzra Thomas - Momma's Song (or the Mother's Day Song)Roscoe Chenier - A Mother's LoveOona McOuat - Ancient MotherKelly's Lot - Mothers and DaughtersThe Alice Project - Happy Mother's DayKiva - Go NowBeautiful Background Music by; Poitin - Hot DaysBand Name = Band Web Site, Song Name = MySpace Band Page. For me, this piece not only honours my mother (as well as others I look up to) but also all of the sweet, strong, amazing & invaluable people who've helped shape me into being who I am; and who, in one way or another, have been mothers in my life. (Be they spiritual, familial, social, or otherwise.)Here's to the strong ladies; the role models past, present, and future! (Even if it's to be a matter of Self someday. ;)) From Mother Earth to the ants that traverse Her, thanks be to the Divine Feminine in all her Forms. ^_^Nanaby Siuox Patullo(From We'Moon 05, Mother Tongue Ink)It's hard to find the path now.Because I was following her.I was following her ways without knowingAnd now she is gone…Gone, with all her wisdom…No longer up ahead. No more silver streams of healing things she said. She can't tell me again.I have listened for the last time. Now I have to own it.Now I have to know it.Now I have to carry, and pass it on.Remember it.Look after it.She can't tell me again. It's hard to find the path now…But I must search amongst the roots.Because I know that…I can sense that…Someone is following me.Waiting for her wisdom.♥ ♥ ♥
