728: Cary Valentine returns in part 2 featuring interviews with Kevin Tway, James Hahn, and Xander Schauffele from the 2020 Hawaii PGA Tour events talking about being in the zone, falling out of the zone, struggling with their mental game, and more. Cary is a mental game coach, author and motivational speaker. Find out more on his methods and insights at championyourinnergame.comThis week on Golf Smarter Mulligans, published each Friday, we go just outside the realm of instruction with one of Fred’s top 5 episodes of all time. Our guest is author Mark Frost on his book “The Match: The Day The Game of Golf Changed Forever”. This book is an amazingly true story of a single round match in Monterey CA in 1956 pitting Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson against amateurs Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi. After hyping it all year, it’s finally time for the official preview of the Fall Scramble at Prairie Landing where Charlie will defend his 2x and defending long drive championship and our group will defend skins glory (the only payout in 2017). Augie took a couple go-arounds at Sox Park (we refrain from using field sponsor titles since they change often unlike Wrigley Field - Go Cubs) in his first experience playing Stadium Links. No nitro pours but there were Nitros, home runs, human range pickers and MLB inflated beer prices… followed by a super late night casino run. Charlie details his derailed attempt to play Ravisloe and audible to Lost Marsh. A very industrial area serves as the end to a great ball streak - find out how it all went down. For every end there is a new beginning - and this one might be yellow. We review the Ryder Cup European ass kicking of the Americans. You may or may not have heard of the Moliwood pairing on the pod prior to it actually happening. Hey - sometimes we know what we’re talking about. In Tour news, Kevin Tway comes up with his 1st tour victory - we detail his lengthy path to his well-earned W #Gainz. Charlie has a dream that includes Tway. Koepka (Augie’s horse $$$) won Player of the Year - unshockingly. Him and DJ try to emulate Moliwood. Lagunitas Citrusinensis fuels the ep. Song adds include Charlie’s double feature of “Save Room” and “Stereo” by John Legend. Augie goes back to the Eric Church well with the newly released “Desperate Man” title track.
Originally from North Carolina, Drew Page is an alum of the Oklahoma State golf program and a former professional golfer on the PGA Latin America Tour. He currently works as a player rep for Scotty Cameron Putters traveling to PGA events across the country. He resides in Jupiter, Florida with his roommate, Kevin Tway, how won for the first time on tour a couple weeks ago. We talk life on the Latin PGA golf circuit, Oklahoma State, and what the transition into the corporate side of the golf world has been like. Enjoy!
Matt and Steve are talking about this week in sports updates, including: The Riverhounds secured a home game for the playoffs. The Riverhounds wrapped their season with their last home game in a NIL DRAW. They played Atlanta U 2 to 1-1 a draw. The last game of the regular season is at the NY Red Bulls 2. The Riverhounds are going to end up in the 3rd position going into the playoffs. In PGA Tour news, the 2018-2019 season is underway. Kevin Tway won the Safeway Open in Napa Valley. The tour heads to the far East to Kuala Lumpur on the west course. Only a few big names are on the move right now, but it's still fun to watch. We have the Brewers/Dodgers and the Astros/Red Sox in the MLB CS. This will line up for a great WS division. Previous division series were one-sided. Murray is out with a concussion. MR Wilson is still suspended. Gritty has been out and about. The Caps lit up Fleury. WPIAL run down. In NCAA news, WVU rolled over Kansas and is #6 headed to Iowa. PSU had a buy week and now heads to Michigan State. Pitt had a nice OT win over The Orangeman and head to South Bend to take on the Irish. Notre Dame picked up a nice win over VT in prime-time with Pitt coming to town. Steelers had a big win. It's fantasy football time!
