Welcome to The Kasabian Lavoe Show! Tonight, we've got a lineup that's straight-up wild—so buckle up! Flip pulled off a 24-hour live show, and Emanny Field from the JBP had a lot to say—was it worth the hype? Plus, Fast & Furious star Sung Kang was out here making moves—turns out Han wasn't just about family; he was about the bag too! Then, we gotta talk about the Grammys—Kendrick Lamar came through like a hurricane, sweeping the night. But the real question is… was Ye kicked out? You know there's always drama when Ye's in the building. On the business side, the U.S. just struck a major deal over tariffs—what does this mean for your pockets? And in the auto world, the Car-pocalypse is still unfolding—another hit to the industry that could affect all of us. We've also got a scam story so crazy they had to call it Scamanda—you won't believe what went down. And finally, in the most unexpected partnership of the year—Mustard just cut a deal with Heinz! No, not DJ Mustard—the condiment wars are getting serious! So don't go anywhere—we're breaking it all down right now on The Kasabian Lavoe Show! #Subscribe #kasabianlavoe

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of November 8, 2024. Starting off, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is a delightful adaptation of a book and an excellent family film to kick off the holiday season. Andy actually sat down with Producers Chet Thomas and Darin McDaniel of the show in a Movie Show Digital Extra, which you can find at this link. Also in theaters is the action suspense movie called "Elevation," which is basically “A Quiet Place” only if the creatures can't go above 8000 ft instead of not being able to see. And, a Luc Besson co-written action movie called "Weekend in Taipei" starring Luke Evans, Sung Kang, and a Taiwanese action star named Gwei Lun-Me, has some fun action pieces. As for streaming, if you like Pentatonix but don't want to hear them sing very much, you could watch "Meet Me Next Christmas" on Netflix, where Christina Milian is hoping to get some tickets to meet a potential beau at the concert on Christmas Eve, but perhaps she'll realize that everything she was looking for may have been right in front of her the whole time! The brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing nerdy with a goal to publish a weekly "What to Watch on the Weekend" minisodes, taken from KSL-TV's Friday segment, and two deep-dives a month on shows, creative works, artists, local events, and other fandom topics. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah's unique fan culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME, and is hosted by KSL Movie Show's Andy Farnsworth and KSL Podcasts' KellieAnn Halvorsen. Listen regularly on your favorite platform, at kslnewsradio.com, kslpodcasts.com, or on the KSL NewsRadio App. Join the conversation and get the latest 'nerdly' news on Facebook @FanEffectShow. Fan Effect is sponsored by Megaplex Theatres, Utah's premiere movie entertainment company.

--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kim-thanh-duong/support
Happy Halloween! Before we start Lap 15, we're taking a quick detour to cover Sung Kang's directorial debut: Shaky Shivers! We talk about the complicated backstory of this movie's release, the stunning lack of background info on this movie, and why Sung Kang chose THIS movie to make. Joe makes a pitch to re-frame this story in a better way and Joey talks about things this movie does that he hates. We talk about the titular Shaky Shiver, Sung Kang's cameo, and how they both reflect his sense of humor. We also discuss ways Shaky Shivers pads out its 82-minute runtime, our Most 80s Moments, and our favorite parts of the movie. Joe decides he wants to develop a new personality for himself. We share early computer memories. Wes writes in about Shaky Shivers. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. Show your support at the 2 Fast 2 Forever shop! Welcome to a bonus episode of Stories With Sapphire. I had the honor of speaking with Sung Kang, who you may know as Han from the Fast and Furious movie franchise. He's now pivoting from acting with his directorial debut Shaky Shivers, a delightful throwback horror comedy featuring classic creatures and practical effects. He shared a very personal spiritual experience he had recently that helped him understand his life's purpose, the importance of admitting when you dont know the answer, the struggles of being an Asian American in the entertainment business, and his advice for anyone who wants to enter this industry. I was blown away by his thoughtfulness and introspection as an artist, and I hope you enjoy our conversation!Disclaimer: Cineverse is not an AMPTP affiliated company. SHAKY SHIVERS is in good standing with requirements set forth by SAG-AFTRA and the WGA. I stand in solidarity with the unions in their fight for fair wages. –WATCH SHAKY SHIVERS TRAILERTickets are on sale now to see SHAKY SHIVERS in theaters one night only on September 21! “He made me laugh, he made me sad, he almost made me cry — this was a superpower. I went on this wonderful, connective human experience with another person, just by watching him.” Sung Kang is an American filmmaker - best known for his role as Han Lue in the Fast & Furious franchise, a character he first portrayed in one of the seminal Asian American films Better Luck Tomorrow. But Sung is also someone we've known - and had our eye on - for awhile. A thoughtful soul, originally a troublemaking kid from Georgia found his way thru package stores, garages, and street performers, becoming an early, indelible face of what Asian Americans could be - so much further beyond the model minority myth. Sung actually stopped by to talk about two pretty significant, personal projects dropping at the same time THIS week - a new podcast CAR STORIES, and a new independent film - SHAKY SHIVERS. Please note that Shaky Shivers, being an independent film was granted a promotional exception from the ongoing writers and actors strikes, which this pod fully supports. Sung's new podcast podcast - CAR STORIES - was actually a project Raman was early involved in, and covers an an area Sung's always been passionate about - how cars can be a vehicle (no pun intended) into the human condition and culture. And the film, SHAKY SHIVERS, is Sung's d directorial debut, an almost throwback and love letter to the campy horror films we all grew up on. Hearing Sung's humble origins, journey, and motivations will help you understand why so many are drawn to his approach and work. But be sure to check out his latest work - film and podcast - both dropping on Thursday, September 21st. The Fast Saga isn't out of gas yet. We're back this week to review Fast X, the tenth installment in the "main" Fast & Furious series of movies starring Vin Diesel as everyone's favorite Family Man. But this isn't just any fast movie. For one thing, it's the eighth most expensive movie of all time. But also, it's the first part of a finale (that might span three films?) promising to bring this franchise to a dead end. This is a spoiler-free review, as usual, and stick around for the end of the show as we play the Rotten Tomatoes Game. Fast X also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron. Louis Leterrier directs with Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin (who left the project) co-writing the script. Our intro music this week is “Wind Flower” by Toti Cisneros. This week's episode of the Empire Podcast lives its life a quarter of a mile at a time, with some hot peri-peri sauce on the side, as Sung Kang — aka Han from Fast X — Zooms in for an extended chat with Chris Hewitt, in which mind-blowing revelations are, um, revealed about Sung's predilection for Nando's, Tesco, and Liverpool FC. Did he and Chris just become best friends? YEP! Elsewhere, in the studio, Chris is joined by James Dyer and Alex Godfrey and, remotely from her Covid-cave, Helen O'Hara for a fun episode in which they tackle another Mount Rushmore question; discuss the 298 trailers that were released this week, including Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One and Gareth Edwards' comeback movie, The Creator; and review Fast X, Beau Is Afraid, and Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret. Oh, and Chris gives a four-hour lecture on the Pink Panther movies and goes quite insane after discovering a massive conspiracy. And hey, you can't spell 'conspiracy' without... no, we'll let you discover that one for yourselves. Enjoy.
Director: Louis Leterrier Writers: Dan Mazeau, Justin Lin Starring: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Sung Kang, Runtime: 2 hour 21 minutes Synopsis: Dom Toretto and his family are targeted by the vengeful son of drug kingpin Hernan Reyes. I don't care what anyone says. The Fast & Furious movies used to be good for a bit of a streak there (5, 6 & 7). It's very clear the series took a nose dive after 7, which probably should have been the natural end of the series. The shift is clear. After Paul Walker died, the lead actor and character centered around Vin Diesel and he clearly has his own opinions on how the series should go. Justin Lin, who should be credited for saving these series, got chased off of Fast X a week into production and it shows. Fast X is a convoluted mess that doesn't make sense, has terrible action scenes and it some places forgets what story it's trying to tell because of terrible editing and scene transitions. Again, people will say it doesn't matter and the films have always been ridiculous. But the last few Fast movies have clearly been a drop off from the height of this series that actually put out some good films. Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode!
