Friday Feedback pod today where you decide where the content on the pod goes. And we start with an excellent question for Nick and Mark from wolfpacker Robert.01:00 Robert wants to know how Nick and Mark manage the 'the feel of their swing' and when do they lose conscious sight of the ball. A great chat about what Nick and Mark do, and what some of the greats do06:00 Johnny with a golf cart story from his club.07:00 John on how he and his golfing buddy use their cart, Mark reveals his cart plan for when he gets older, and Nick tells a very funny story about his cart experience at Cathedral at the weekend.08:00 Another John, who lets us know about his club's twice annual 3-club event. Nick and Mark discuss what their 3 clubs would be.10:00 Beckom has an issue with golf associations and PGA's around the world not enforcing behaviour and etiquette from Tour Pros. After the turn, last week Mark asked people to nominate some of the YouTube golf instructional channels they watch and enjoy, and we had a bunch.12.00 We had input from Carl, David, Seve and Ian....plus Mark listed a couple he likes. 17.00 Nick reveals a bizarre fact about his Dad....one that will blow your mind, two actually, one to do with eggs, the other to do with baseball. They're both impressive, the egg one is wild.19:00 Another YouTube comment from Jeff, who went recently to the Titleist Performance Institute to get tested....he has sent in a short clip of his swing for Nick and Mark to review.20:00 Message from Craig on Monty, leading to Mark telling a story about when Monty went to Houston for college and how his golfing ability was considered pretty ordinary at that time, Nick jumps on with an extraordinary story about Monty nearly not pursuing golf as a career, until one fortuitous moment. And we end the pod with Mark putting our podcast license at risk....We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; The Find My Player app - follow every player on every tour; And Southern Golf Club. Friday Feedback today, and for some reason they always seem a touch looser than the usual pods, tis the nature of a friday....We start with a message from Teddy in Thailand, we did a mini last week on Teddy's grip issues, and he writes in with some more info, and Mark received an email from Ben Jackson the honcho of a grip company with some info on their Thai distributor - who happens to be based where Teddy lives! What are the odds!We start with some feedback on Marks outrageous behaviour of watching lawn mowing videos last week when we were trying to record the pod. Strangely, most wolfpackers seemed to not have an issue with it....we may have misjudged the room on this one (to Marks happiness). For some reason we then merge into more snooker chat....seriously Talk Birdie is on the verge of jumping the shark Fonzie style. But then onto the real stuff. Couple of comments on the discussion last week about whether all handicaps are created equal, one of which is a sort of compliment from Dean who agrees with Nick and Marks views, but then goes on to whack the boys over the recent Talk Birdie Top 20 Golf Course list. Leads to a chat about Queensland courses, and Nick and Mark list their fave Queensland courses and why. No surprises as to Nicks.Steven from Western Australia has a story on Monty which brings much joy to Mark, and then a couple of comments on the ball striking of Ángel Cabrera, Nick and Mark discuss what it was like to watch him hit the ball, and to play golf more broadly.Al is a lefty, and is after some advice from Nick about how to maximise the influence of his dominant hand, he's a former cricketer who came to golf late, and is struggling a little with the right hand placement.Bruce has noticed something Tour Pros do that he finds frustrating, and is keen for Nick and Marks thoughts. Greg agrees with the boys Rory McIlroy comments following what he said about Royal Melbourne not being 'fit for purpose'. Athol has heard our chats of recent pods on the Ryan Ang situation and has a whack for Nick and Mark over it.Aaron heard us wondering about Links Kennedy Bay last week, and wrote in to clarify where the course is at, which leads to us discovering that Nick is planning a trip to WA next year and not only has he failed to secure Mark and invite to Long Island, but he's not bothering to see if Mark and Dan want to come along! Sure it's a family wedding, but let's not let that get in the way of a golf trip!!!!By the way, speaking of golf trips.....don't forget to suss what our mates at GolfLoot have for you to win....see it here. Well worth the membership. And we wrap with some comments from Alan on the number of clubs in the bag.A fun Friday Feedback pod, hopefully we can get through the shows next week with zero lawnmowing and snooker chat....We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; The Find My Player app - follow every player on every tour; And Southern Golf Club. By this point, we know that we want to avoid short-siding ourselves. But should we think about uphill vs downhill chips? In this episode, Lou offers Mark and Greg a handful of scenarios with Tour players around the green. They have different amounts of green to work with, but some chips are uphill and others are downhill. What effect does that have on scoring? And stay turned for Lou's bonus question: it adds an unexpected wrinkle to the data. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. We start today with Nick talking us through the new Long Island course(s) which he played late last week, a course redesign that Mark describes as a 'new concept in golf', whereby it is basically 3 courses. Nick played one of them and outlines what it was like, he cannot wait to go back. The team at OCM have done a great job.And onto a huge talking point of the week. The tournament at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas, where the course underwent a $25m redesign to make it tougher for the pros, was it? Well perhaps not. Nick and Mark look at the scores....wowee. Mark describes course designers adding in multiple pin placements a 'con' and explains why.Nick has got his hands on a survey that the PGA Tour has sent to Tour Pros, and there are some fascinating questions that they have asked. He talks through some of the most intriguing ones. Mark shares a revealing stat on his club head speed and carry today vs when he was on tour.....interesting! And we compare a couple of Titleist drivers, a newer one vs an older one. Nick also has a stat, one to do with Tiger and his driving distance.Mark says 'Rory McIlroy broke my heart'. Was this a romantic situation? Is it love scorned? No, it's far worse, Mark explains on the pod. Nick, being supportive, after hearing the story says that Rory is wrong. We discuss bifurcation for a bit. It really is the only solution. And what about Bryson? A YouTube star or a Pro Golfer? What will he do? He has said he is uncertain. Mark is 100% clear on what he'd like Bryson to do, Nick more circumspect. And for Hostplus, our 'plus' for golf this week is the Long Island redevelopment! After the turn.....following Nick's Top 5 nicest pro golfers last week, today Mark lists the top 5 'arsehole' acts he has seen Tour Pros do. Does he name names? Well, one. But Nick also has a story about an arsehole act that happened to him from a Tour Pro, he refuses to give the name, despite Mark and Dan trying to trap him - but from the clues, see if you can guess? The PING globals, plenty to talk through, including the great win by Scott Hend at the weekend! Fantastic to see.For Southern Golf Club, plenty of feedback, including on Nick and Mark's analysis of Cam Smith's swing last week, and we have a listen to his coach Claude Harmon speaking on his 'Son of a Butch' podcast about working with Cam.Feedback on cheating, including an incident at The Grange in Adelaide, AO Comments, and we get our discussion on where Lions live from last week clarified. And for the Golf Clearance Outlet, a cracking masterclass from Nick O'Hern inspired by watching Si Woo Kim at the weekend doing something unusual with his putting. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; The Find My Player app - follow every player on every tour; And Southern Golf Club. Big pod today, and of course we start with the fantastic win by Aaron Rai, he came from behind, but what a final day - particularly the last 9 or 10 holes on (his) Sunday. Mark says if you're going to win a golf tournament, that's the way to do it....Nick says that the finish was insane. We discuss the clubs he had in the bag.Aaron of course was the headline, but there were other notable performances. Cam Smith had a cracking tournament, and was in the hunt until midway through the final day. We discuss the challenges of him parting ways with his coach prior to the tournament. And Nick and Mark talk about his swing, Mark has a video from the weekend of Cam that he breaks down and discusses, and talks about how Trevor Imelman had some great observations on Cam's swing on the commentary. Min Woo played well, but couldn't keep it going through the weekend, and Nick said that when Jon Rahm birdied the first two holes he thought we were on. Nick and Mark both agreed, great to see Rahm playing well.We discuss the golf ball rollback, and the ball Cameron Young used in the tournament....interesting...leads to a chat about drivers and bifurcation. For Hostplus, our plus for golf this week was Aaron Rai - not the win as such, but the dedication to his family, which was beautiful to see. From a plus, to a negative. Ryan Ang at the weekend on the China Tour. It's quite disgraceful that he is even playing at the moment, and it's something that the various tours need to fix.Mark raises the routing at Kingston Heath for the Australian Open, he doesn't like it, and implores Golf Australia to change it saying it 'isn't too late'!After the turn, for Betr, Nick lists the Top 5 nicest players in golf....spoiler alert, Aaron Rai makes the list!Feedback for Southern Golf Club, we hear from you on Aaron Rai, Keegan Bradley, Garrick Higgo, Cheating, Inhoi Hur, the Australian Open news from a week or two ago, and feedback on Nicks comments about Cam Smith last week. And for PING, who'll help you play your best, Nick takes us around the world with the PING Globals. We wrap the show with a great masterclass for the Golf Clearance Outlet, inspired by Aaron Rai, Mark's masterclass is on 'courage'.We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; The Find My Player app - follow every player on every tour; And Southern Golf Club. Tour Pro Scott Laycock was listening to the main pod this week where Nick and Mark were angry about the cheating in professional golf, specifically the incident last weekend in Korea. Scotty also had a poor experience in this vein in Asia when he was on the tour and left a voicemail outlining what happened. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And Southern Golf Club. Strap in, this is a big pod - albeit a day late as Nick has been in Queensland - but we got there! Also, before we start a reminder of our annual survey (there are prizes!), here's the link: https://access.itsmystation.com/s3/talk-birdie-to-me-2Onto the show....Mark Allen in particular has come in hot over what happened on the Asian Tour event at the weekend, and we launch into it from the top. Cheating in professional golf. There are at least three instances we know of in recent times, Inhoi Hur's behaviour and actions at the weekend at the Namseoul Country Club were disgraceful. Mark Allen says the facts in this story have shocked him, saying what happened at the weekend has blown him away.Nick and Mark explain what happened, and give their view on why it was a disgrace to professional golf, saying it can only be described as cheating. Essentially, he was given a mulligan on a professional tournament. We compare Inhoi Hur's actions to those of Cam Young at the weekend, who called a penalty on himself incurring a one-shot penalty. Mark says what the penalty for cheating should be for a first offence, and a second offence...Nick agrees entirely. Nick spoke to a Tour Pro who played in the tournament and said that all the players were 'headless' with anger over what happened. Is cheating in professional golf endemic? Well Nick says there was always rumours about the Asian Tour, and both Nick and Mark have experienced it. But there are other recent examples, and Mark names one player who was recently banned in Australia, and simply moved to another tour. And we discuss another Australian pro who was recently caught dropping a ball out of his pocket in a tournament.Phew. Onto LIV. We talk about the Jon Rahm news, and Scott O'Neil's comments about the search for investment for LIV to continue beyond 2026. Does it survive? Nick and Mark give their view. That's a plus for Hostplus this week is an unusual one - the plus for golf is that Inhoi Hur did not win the tournament, that's good for golf, he didn't deserve to and thankfully he didn't.And into the turn, we chat about the Australian Golf Digest's Top 100 golf course rankings list which has come out over the last few days. Do Nick and Mark rate it? We discuss. In the turn - speaking of cheating, Nick and Mark discover that the Tour Pro whose card they refused to sign was the same person! They don't name him, but they give a few clues if you feel like sleuthing....For Betr, Nicks Top 5 is - if you are going to cheat in pro golf (which you should not) these are the 5 most common ways to do it.Feedback for Southern Golf Club - we start with a few on our John Senden interview, could have read 100 out, there were heaps. Question about Adam Scott hitting the wrong ball at the weekend in a tournament, comment about Carlotta Ciganda's slow play, and a couple of LIV comments - there's been heaps, but we touch on a couple.Nick takes us around the world in the PING globals, lots going on, and some great performances. Mark sidetracks the PING globals with a discussion about chocolate bars....which requires your input if you can help. For the Golf Clearance Outlet, Mark's masterclass today is inspired by Cameron Young's wedges, and why he feels high bounce wedges are worth a shot. If you listen to this podcast, you probably know that Tour pros average about 50% on their putts from 8 feet. But how does that number change for players when they finish in the top 10? Or, on the other hand, in weeks in which they miss the cut? Lou puts this question to Greg and Mark, and the answer might give some insight into how much putting contributes to the hot and cold rounds that we all have. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. The AMG GEARS database captures swings from players with combined tour earnings of over $2 billion. That data draws a very clear line between what tour winners actually do and what amateur golfers keep getting taught. Shaun and Mike open the Bad Swing Advice Hall of Fame with the 4 cues that have done the most damage. The hip turn inductee alone will change how you practice.
Most amateur golfers struggle to improve their game… not because of talent, but because of how they practice golf.In this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb break down the BIGGEST mindset differences between amateur golfers and professional golfers, including PGA Tour players, and why most golfers stay stuck at the same handicap for years. If you've ever wondered why you're not getting better at golf despite spending hours at the range, this is the wake-up call you need.We cover:- Why “beating balls” doesn't improve your golf swing- How pros actually practice (and why it works)- The biggest mistakes amateurs make when trying to get better- Why chasing swing feels and quick fixes keeps you stuck- The importance of structured golf practice and feedbackThis is NOT about swing mechanics… it's about golf mindset, practice strategy, and improvement systems. If you're serious about lowering your handicap, breaking 90, 80, or even getting to scratch… you need to start thinking like a pro.Because the truth is simple:
Short feedback pod today. Lots of comments on our Bubba Watson mini - if you haven't watched or listened you can find it in the feed here - fair to say he is a polarising character! Tour Pro Paul Moloney enjoyed the recent reminiscing about Pantales Nightclub, where the Pros would hang out in the UK.We spoke last week about shooting under your age, and have a couple of messages to read out - have we found the record ? It may be, or may not be, but they are impressive either way. Leads to a chat about Nick and Mark playing Clearwater in Christchurch.A question about players not defending their titles, is there any excuses or is it poor form? And a wolfpacker has heard us talking about Switchstar, the charger that turns off after 8-hours of charging your buggy - thus protecting your house, or golf club - but he kept missing the name. It is Switchstar, and you can check it out here.Last week Nick was giving tips on playing in windy conditions, and we had two wolfpackers write in - one with some info that he heard Sir Nick Faldo give on windy conditions, and another with his own tip....which Mark rates.Did Mark's caddy who bet against him (many years ago without Marks knowledge) share the winnings? We find out.A while ago we listed some of the yippiest moments in golf.....but, according to one wolfpacker there was a massive one that we missed, in fact he feels it should be number one. We listen/watch.A comment on the NSW Golf Club from someone who has a view on whether it is worthy of an increase in ranking, or not.And we wrap with a final message from Craig on a fantastic 'shooting below your age' record, which may well be the record. We start today's show as we did last week - by congratulating Hannah Green, 3 wins in a row and she appears well on track for a major in 2026. Nick and Mark discuss how she looks so comfortable and in control at the moment, Nick awards Hannah the Hostplus 'That's a Plus' for golf this week...hard to argue.Matt Fitzpatrick played beautifully at Valspar to win, he's in great form. However it wasn't all smooth sailing as he was frustrated by the slow play of his playing partner Adrien Dumont de Chassart who played with the speed of a slow moving turtle. Matt has spoken about this before, and he was clearly unhappy after the tournament - and rightly so. Nick and Mark discuss what the punishment should be, and why the powers that be seem to never do anything about it.An alarming story, that Nick and Mark were unaware of until they saw it on the Monday Q Twitter account about a young Tour Pro being banned for 6-months for cheating, however playing in a tournament in China at the weekend. We talk through the problems with this, and how the governing bodies could better approach it (rather than keeping it secret) to both act as a deterrent and a punishment, but also provide a path to redemption for one mistake.Jon Rahm's appeal has been dropped, what does it mean for the Ryder Cup?Rory McIlroy's menu for The Masters dinner is all over the internet, we discuss it - particularly the wine. Nick awards the BMW Touch of Class to the wine list. Leads to a chat about Nick and Mark playing at the weekend with Hostplus honcho's David and Mark at Victoria Golf Club, and particularly how it ended in the clubhouse! After the turn, Nick lists his Top 5 fast swings on the PGA Tour for Betr. Then into feedback for Southern Golf Club: feedback today on Tiger, Cheating from Tour Pros, clarity on our legal terminology that we mangled last week, Hawthorn's Mitch Lewis and his amazing round at PK North last week, and lots of comments on Radar - including some feedback from one particularly big name!Nick takes us around the world in the PING Global results, and Mark's masterclass for Sam and the team at the Golf Clearance Outlet is inspired by something Ludvig Åberg does in his pre-shot routine. There has long been a complicated relationship between golfers and lifting weights, often featuring baked in misunderstandings of the how and why surrounding lifting in the first place. In this episode, LKD breaks down who on the tour bench presses the most and why it helps the golf swing to lift weights. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. A Talk Birdie Mini today where Nick and Mark consider an excellent question from wolfpacker Andrew, who has essentially asked if Tour Pros damage their game and their creativity through a continual search for the perfect swing. There are of course many examples over the years of players changing their swings and it working out beautifully and, in some cases, not working out.Nick and Mark feel is different for the men and women players at the moment and explain why, and they talk about the role flexibility plays and the Tour Pro who Mark says is a 'flexibility freak'. We discuss which players on tour have the highest performance looking swings at the moment, and who is a touch more home made. And we talk about Ian Baker-Finch and when he spoke to us recently about addressing his swing challenges during his career - Nick played with him a couple of weeks again and said that whilst Finchy is still working on his swing, he was hitting them beautifully! A fun little mini today, thanks Andrew for the question! We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:BMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And watchMynumbers and Southern Golf Club. Tour pros are good—we all know that. But how much better are the very best Tour pros compared to their peers further down the leaderboards? In this episode, Lou asks Mark and Greg about how often Tour players hit the green from 175 yards in the fairway. The comparison: the top 10 players in the world versus those ranked from 150–175. How big is the gap between these elite golfers? There's a scoring controversy, but also some good discussion about how thin the margins are between the best golfers on the planet. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Happy New Year to you and yours, we hope the year is wonderful for you and you hit em well all year!We kick it off by seeing how the boys New Years Resolutions, if they make them, are going. Not well as it turns out.Onto the Mini though. Wolfpacker Shane has recently returned from a fantastic golfing trip to New Zealand where he was looked after (along with all the other players) beautifully, which inspired him to ask a question of Nick and Mark. When they were on the tour, what tournament, or course, looked after the pros the best and why?Mark names the tournament that, when he was playing professionally, was the worst. It has improved out of sight now, but back then, it wasn't great according to Mark. Nick names a couple that were always great to him, and others. And tells a story of one course which makes bespoke thickshakes for the Tour Pros, and recounts a story of two Pros having a thickshake competition to see who could consume the most in one sitting....!!!!Which leads to a conversation where Nick is asked to name the Tour Pro who had the worst diet. He names a Tour Pro who had pancakes for breakfast, Mexican for lunch, and KFC for dinner. Yet still managed to play pretty well!Mark names a tournament that he said made him feel very special and was always a lot of fun.And both Nick and Mark agree that Coolum was always a wonderful tournament with a great vibe. Is your garage a "gadget graveyard" filled with training aids that promised the world but delivered nothing? In this episode of the Imagen Golf Podcast, host Daniel Guest sits down with Jim Hackenberg, the PGA Professional and inventor behind one of the most iconic and effective training aids in golf history: The Orange Whip.Jim takes us on a journey from inside the ropes of the PGA Tour—where he caddied for legends and observed the effortless rhythm of the world's best ball strikers—to his garage, where he developed a tool to teach that same feeling to amateurs. Daniel and Jim discuss why hundreds of Tour Pros carry the Orange Whip (without being paid to do so) and how you can use it to instantly verify your swing path, fix your tempo, and eliminate the dreaded "chicken wing."In this episode, you'll learn:The "Gadget Graveyard": Why most training aids fail and why the Orange Whip has stayed relevant for over a decade.Rhythm vs. Mechanics: How to stop "hitting at" the ball and start swinging through it like an athlete. The Design Logic: Why the Orange Whip has no clubface (and how that turns off your analytical brain). The Ultimate Warm-Up: How to get loose, engage your core, and sync your tempo in under 5 minutes before your tee time.Practical Drills: Jim walks us through the "Torso Twist" and "Hover Drill" to get you swinging on plane immediately.Whether you are a scratch golfer or a high handicapper, this conversation will help you stop guessing and start feeling the correct motion.Connect with Jim Hackenberg:Website: OrangeWhipGolf.comInstagram: @OrangeWhipGolfConnect with Daniel Guest:Website: ImagenGolf.comBook a Lesson: Start playing golf as you've always imagined!Social: Follow us for daily tips and drills. If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a 5-star review and share it with a golf buddy who needs to find their rhythm!
Mark has come in excited today. After lending a mate a driver 35 years ago, it was returned this week! He's stoked....but 35-years, sheez....can anyone from the Wolfpack beat that timeframe for a bit of golf gear loaned out and returned? He was also given a ball that he autographed many years ago and brings it in to show us.And then onto the pod. Both Nick and Mark have been hearing from people consistently about just how good The Australian Open was, Nick has written a blog article about it on his website and you can read it here. Nick is still blown away by how exciting the finish was, and Rasmus up and down on the 18th on that final day - although he'd have loved one of the reporters to ask Rory what he thought of Royal Melbourne after he'd finished the tournament.Speaking of Rory, there was a rumour that he was a little frustrated by the Pro Am on the Wednesday, we discuss Tour Pros and their views of Pro Ams generally - Nick and Mark always enjoy them, for different reasons, but do have a couple of rough stories which they share.Rumour this week that Brooks Koepka may want out, in some way, of LIV. Is it correct, how could it even happen given he's got a year to go? Nick and Mark discuss. We talk about how Laurie Canter is looking at a million pounds in fines as he joins LIV and he has apparently said he'll pay them.Mark puts out a call for any wolfpackers in Sydney to come on the pod and give us a review of Royal Sydney. And remember the mysterious gap in the schedule in early March next year? We have found out what tournament is going in there....and it's pretty cool !!A Touch of Class for BMW is from Nick today, and he has chosen an Aussie LIV player for something that happened this week. And he backs it up, for Betr, with his Top 5 moments of 2025. His #1 moment is surprising, but very good. For Southern Golf Club, plenty of feedback - Leishman, Pro Am's this week in the Bendigo area with Lucas Herbert giving back to his home area, reaction to Mark saying The Australian PGA should move from Brisbane to Sydney, and a couple of hairy ones for Nick - one a question about Elvis Smylie, and the second about Peter Thomson - a gentle whack from a wolfpacker.Plenty in the PING Globals, including Nicks performance at Cathedral, and our wolfpacker Darren's performance in the Vic PGA Pro Am, along with Snowy from FootJoy and Hummer from Betr. And we finish, for watchMynumbers, with a cracking masterclass from Mark on some ways to get the most from your chipping practise. Today on a Talk Birdie Feedback pod, we have some comments from wolfpackers about Nick and Marks discussion a week or so ago in which Mark said that Brooks Koepka would not get back to top form unless he returns to the PGA tour. Some had a different view, and felt there was context around his form over the last couple of years that was relevant.Nick comments that for some players (Bryson) LIV feels a great fit, and muses that he feels Rahm might prefer to be back on the PGA Tour. Then we have some brutal comments from wolfpacker Roger about the Old Course. Nick and Mark respond. After the turn, is the story of an amateur player partnered with Nick in a Pro Am telling him that he should do something else because he won't earn a living with his golf ability true? We find out.On that note, if Nick and Mark hadn't been Tour Pros, what would they have been? We find out the 'sliding doors' career paths. And Mark reveals how the Texas Tech opportunity came about and why wagging school might just be the best thing he ever did. Todays pod starts with a discussion about Aaron Rai, clearly an excellent player, and a big win at the weekend in Abu Dhabi for him - however Mark tells Nick that Aaron 'makes me laugh', and he explains why. One of the reasons is wearing two gloves, and Nick explains why he does. That said, a fantastic win at the weekend by Aaron, at a course Mark describes as a 'fake links course', and he has a theory on what any 'fake links course' needs to do in order to improve the look of the course. He compares the Yas Links course and how it looks to how Tara Iti and 7 Mile Beach look. We discuss the tournament and the 'brutality' of the course, and look at some of the stats from a number of players. Plenty of great performances.Mark brings up the World Wide Technology Championship, and in particular one Tour Pro who made the cut and had a shocker on one of the Par 4 holes shooting 12. Ouch.Tour Pro Ian Poulter spoke with Rick Shiels this week and listed his Top 6 golf courses in the world, there was one he listed that made Nick and Mark laugh, with their view being it should not be on any Top 6 list....but they have a theory as to why Ian put it there, which we investigate. Mark tells a couple of stories about escorting Ian around the hospitality tents when he was in the country for the Australian Masters and talks about how Ian was to deal with. For BMW our Touch of Class is Ludvig Åberg, the vision is spectacular and you'll see it on our YouTube show, but Nick and Mark talk through it and explain why it is so good.Inspired by Aaron Rai, Mark's Top 5 today for Betr is the Top 5 (or is it Top 20?) things that Pro Golfers laugh at Amateurs for doing.Plenty of results for Nick to run through in the PING globals today, and one result next week which will no doubt get a run - is Marks performance in the mighty Box Hill Pro Am this week....he is forecasting a 64 so we'll watch with interest.Heaps of feedback on our Gary Player mini, we read out a couple. Plenty of comments on the discussion around technology in golf and how to address the flow on effects, and a couple of comments and our poll result on the LIV changes from last week. And todays masterclass for watchMynumbers from Nick is inspired by Moe Norman, and what Nick has taken from Moe and is incorporating into his game. Daniel Guest: Welcome back to The IMAGEN Golf Podcast, where we don't just talk about golf; we guarantee improvement. I'm your host, Daniel Guest—Top 100 Coach, founder of IMAGEN Golf, and the guy who's given over 39,000 lessons. Today, we're diving into the part of the game that separates the winners from the "what ifs": putting. And specifically, we're talking about the digital revolution that's happening on the short grass. Forget the old days of guesswork and "feel." The future of putting practice is technology, and if you're not using it, you are flat-out leaving strokes on the table. The Three Questions Technology Must AnswerFor two decades, I watched golfers try to feel their way to a better stroke. The problem is, your feel is a liar! You might think you're swinging straight back and straight through, but objective data often tells a different story. The best putting technology simplifies your improvement process by answering three fundamental, non-negotiable questions about your stroke:Where is your putter face pointing at impact? This is the number one determinant of your ball's starting line. A face that's off by just one degree will miss a short putt. Devices like a launch monitor or a simple mirror will give you immediate, irrefutable feedback on this. What path is your putter traveling? Is it inside-out, outside-in, or truly on the path you intend? Path impacts the quality of your roll and consistency. Technology like Blast Motion or a stroke arc template gives you that blueprint. How consistently are you striking the ball? Center-face contact is everything for speed control. Technology reveals if you're hitting it heel-to-toe, which instantly costs you distance and line.If your tech doesn't give you objective, measurable answers to these three questions, it's a glorified gimmick.Making Technology Work For You, Not Against YouI see the skepticism. You don't want to get so lost in data that you forget to simply hit the putt. I get it. The key is to use the technology strategically.Diagnosis, Not Dependence: Use a high-speed camera or a launch monitor for a diagnostic session. Pinpoint the specific mechanical flaw—the three-degree open face, the inconsistent path—then turn the tech off.Drill with Purpose: Once you have your problem, use simple, physical training aids (like an alignment mirror or putting gates) to train the feel that creates the correct data. The training aid reinforces the change, and the data validated that it was the right change to make. For example, if your issue is a pulled putt, the launch monitor tells you your face is closed. Your subsequent practice with a gate drill forces you to feel what a square face feels like.Skills-Based Training: Forget endless ball-rolling. The best technology, like putting apps, gamifies your practice and gives you structure. It forces you to hit five putts from 8 feet or focus on lag putting consistency. This skills-based approach is how Tour Pros train, and it's how we train here at IMAGEN Golf. The TakeawayThe modern golfer has access to the most powerful tools in history. Stop guessing, start growing! Don't let your practice be a matter of 'hope' and 'feel.' Embrace the technology that gives you objective data, allows you to practice with laser-like focus, and ultimately, guarantees you'll make more putts and shoot lower scores. Now, let's get out there and golf better, guaranteed!

We love receiving your voicemails, and Craig left us a message about the recent conversation regarding male scratch golfers and whether they could compete with an LPGA Tour Pro. The discussion got a lot of feedback, most people agreeing with Nick and Mark's view that there is zero chance the male scratch golfer would win, and a few disagreeing. Craig gives us his view, with an example. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. For a bit of fun, we thought we'd drop into your feed with a feedback pod today. We start with a couple of comments, including two conflicting ones about a certain recent movie that may or may not have received mixed feedback from different Talk Birdie team members. Then onto some questions. An idea from Rohan on the Bryan Brothers, particularly Wesley Bryan and LIV. Alex has some thoughts on Adam Scott and his chase for 100 consecutive majors.Tony has a view on what he refers to as the dilution of skills in golf, particularly in relation to chipping and chip and run.And Michael asks Nick and Mark about Tour Pros who they did not enjoy playing with. Nick and Mark 'name names', and Mark in brutal fashion lines up a couple of players no longer with us. Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Tour pros are good, for sure, but how good? In this episode, Lou asks Mark and Greg about the chances that a Tour pro will hit the green from various fairway distances. These are great numbers to manage expectations for those of us who are not close to that level. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap. Tour Pro Scotty Laycock is a regular voicemailer and always has great stories from his time on the tour, after hearing Nick and Mark talking about Aaron Pike, a Northern Territory (originally) tour pro, he left a voicemail with a fun story about Northern Territory Tour Pro Unho Park & Indian Tour Pro Jeev Milkha Singh swapping drivers on the range. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. Nick O'Hern and Mark Allen have worn FootJoy their entire career, and given we do the pod from FootJoy and Titleist HQ we thought we'd grab the FootJoy Product Manager for Australia & New Zealand, Chris Patterson, to have a chinwag about golf shoes generally, trends, and some of what they've got coming. We discussed exactly what Chris does at FootJoy, and what he looks for when decided what to range for these markets. Chris talks about current trends in golf shoes, both for 'normal' golfers and Tour Pros. He runs us through some of the current range, and gives a sneak peak at a shoe coming out later in 2025....Nick and Mark are VERY excited for it.Mark asks what the key differences are between a normal shoe and a golf shoe, and why it is important. Nick asks how golf shoes have changed over the years. Is a shoe fitting beneficial? Clearly for tour pros it makes sense, but what about us normies? Chris talks to that.Mark is curious as to whether ball speed can be influenced by your golf shows, and Chris tells us about Justin Thomas and Cam Young and what has happened to their ball speed since changing shoes. Extraordinary.Nick and Mark both love the MyJoy concept and Nick asks what are some of the craziest things Chris has seen?A fascinating chat with Chris, the FootJoy Product Manager, and a great reminder of why FootJoy are the number one shoe (and glove) in golf.We do the show from Titleist and FootJoy HQ, thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. From Brian Harman's gritty win at the Valero, to Marc Leishman's steady hand at LIV, to Jeremy Gandon rising on the Korn Ferry Tour — one thing is clear: the Own Your SSWING mindset is alive and thriving.Scott breaks down how tour pros use their pre-shot routine to block out pressure, trust their movement, and stay locked in — and how you can bring those same tools into your own game, no matter your handicap.Follow our Social Media for all the best moments from the show:Pivot The Path Instagram - click here!SSWING YouTube - click here!SSWING Website - click here! Fantastic win from Warrnambool's favourite son Marc Leishman in Florida at the weekend, and we begin today's show chatting about the win....Marc becomes the third Aussie to win a tournament in the last couple of weeks, following Min Woo and Steve Allen. Mark loves the 'drive, chip, and putt' competition and thinks there should be more of them prior to tournaments. We discuss the elephant in the room, will we get the world feed for The Masters. Neither Nick or Mark has been able to get clarity. They're hopeful that we get Jim Nance and the traditional team. We discuss how wonderful Jim Nance is, and how long he has left commentating. Mark raises the LIV commentators. Nick and Mark feel that the LIV commentators get too excited too early in the tournaments.Nick says the Fedex Cup should be Matchplay, Mark says the 'handicap system reeks of someone who does not understand golf', and wants more matchplay in golf. We've had our Masters preview pod, but we can't help but talk about Augusta again. Mark asks Nick about the creek on 13, Nick explains how he approached it and why, plus which holes suit lefties and which suit righties. In a prelude to Nicks Top 5 'unwatchable golfers', despite his winning form, Nick and Mark comment that Brian Harman or, as we prefer to call him, Ricky, is a great putter with great power, but an 'unwatchable golfer'.Following some anonymous feedback to Mark, we discuss the prices clubs charge at members courses, specifically guest fees. What is causing it, is it too much? Mark would you like you to send in what your clubs member/guest fee structure is. Whilst we're talking complaints. Mark reckons Nick and Third Man have been taking advantage of his generosity, and he has a crack at both of them on the pod. Harsh.Plenty of feedback, lots on the aim point comments from last week, including a couple of whacks - and one wolfpacker calls Nick and Mark 'a couple of old grandpas'. Clearly they're wrong, neither have grandchildren. And wolfpacker Tom from California has sent in his swing for Nick and Mark to review.PING global. Big news. After last weeks excellent trumpet playing by Anthony from Woodlands, our lawyer Denis Denutto has reviewed the legalities around Timmy Trumpet. We may end up in court. So Nick has found a new, legal PING global results intro which he plays. Oh, and gives heaps of results. Joe's got something he wants to get off his chest this week. He thinks the new PXG Wildcat driver has been criminally under-spoken about and wants to give what he thinks is an emerging new driver sub-category the time of day. How can this shortened, lighter, loftier 460cc head driver benefit slower swing speed golfers? The explainer this week focuses on whether the shafts we can also use the shafts Tour pros use. Of course, you can, in theory, but the real question is, should you? Ask The Pod wants to know about Joe's wildest 3D printing dreams (strap in for that segment), while the WITB this week looks at Aaron Rai. Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Today's episode: how far away is 3.19 strokes? Take a Tour Pro and a 15-index and drop them both in the fairway at the point that they will, on average, take 3.19 more strokes to get in the hole. What distances are they at? Lou puts this question to Mark and Greg, they guess, and much astonishment follows. This week Mark tries to, after 5-finger discounting a pair of FootJoys a couple of weeks ago, to do the same with a Titleist putter that he has found. In fairness it is quite stunning. Then his eyes turn to a new pair of FootJoys. As Al Czervik said, the mans a menace. We discuss Pebble Beach. Mark loved the drone shots, and Nick is a fan of the drone shot tracer. The weather was a bit mixed, leads to a chat as to why some golfers play well in the rain and others don't. Nick has a theory which he talks through. Mark tells a story about playing in driving rain in Scotland.Nick decides to have one final crack at a replacement for Wolfpack. He's had another dinner party with the Mount Lawley Toffee Nose Crowd *. Does he succeed? Spoiler alert, no.Minjee Lee is using a long putter, Nick and Mark discuss and talk about whether you can go back and forth.Mark has been looking at the TGL ratings and talks to them, and about Tiger being pinged by the shot clock. There was a suggestion on Twitter from a Wolfpacker about a shot clock idea which Mark and Nick discuss.Rumours get louder on the Australian Open...we chat about them. And then a voicemail comes in from Pete with a comment/question on slow play. Nick has another idea to solve slow play....could be a bit evil but it could work. And Mark has some audio of the loudest noise ever on a golf course, we play it.After the Turn, Marks Top 5 is on the most amazing up and downs he has seen. We get to PING Global results and we have a structural issue....we have no intro. Nick didn't like the AI one Mark created, and we haven't come up with any other option, so we are in a hole. Unprofessional.Lots of feedback, including a 59 for Mark to rate - dangerous after incurring the wrath of David Micheluzzi a couple of weeks agoAnd Nick's masterclass is simple but powerful. Oh and why does Mark call Mike Cocking from OCM an arsehole ? Awkward. As usual, unfortunately, Mark wants to finish the show with an AI song created on the spot. Does it go well? Does it crash and burn? We're coming from Titleist and Footjoy HQ, and we're here thanks to our great partners:The watchMynumbers app, play smarter and use your data. Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. From 30' away, even a Tour pro rarely expects to make his putt. But how often is he leaving it more than 5' from the hole? How often will his putt come up short of the hole? These are the questions Lou brings to today's episode. Mark and Greg give their answers, but more importantly, they are shocked by the 5' answer—and they offer some great advice, not only for putting, but for your expectations on the greens. Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. It's a Friday episode about nothing as Andy and Brendan provide some Friday whimsy before heading into the weekend. To start things off, there's some postseason baseball cleanup as Producer PJ returns after missing Wednesday's recording to see the Mets. Brendan laments that the Guardians are facing elimination against a team that they repeatedly beat in the regular season and calls for the MLB playoffs to have a staggered start like the Tour Championship. Andy reveals that PJ skipped the Mets' clincher to produce a Fried Egg Pod, but will be rewarded with a potential trip to Phoenix for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. This serves as a transition into golf talk, as there's plenty of Jay Don Blake cleanup from Wednesday's episode. Jay Don has been prominently featured across the PGA Tour's social media this week and the excitement for his Thursday round is palpable. Jay Don's nephew took to the SGS YouTube comments to defend his uncle, not realizing that Andy and Brendan pop nearly all sponsor exemptions or older players playing in PGA Tour events. After hearing some murmurs through the grapevine, Tosti's caddie from the Sanderson writes in to share the tale of his weekend on the bag. Brendan then breaks out a 1999 PGA Tour media guide to read about Jay Don and this leads into a rabbit hole of obscure 1990s Tour pros. Andy lands on the Wikipedia page of J.L. Lewis, reading it almost in its entirety. To wrap things up, Andy and Brendan read some Golf Advice emails, discussing podcasts to sleep, a Scotland golf trip, and a Jack Nicklaus letter about some poorly-placed trees.
In this week's episode, Scott and Sean tackle a crucial aspect of the game: the reality of golf performance. Statistically, it's nearly impossible to hit great shots consistently throughout an entire round. They delve into the importance of setting realistic expectations, discussing how this mindset can transform your golfing experience and help you embrace the inevitable ups and downs of the game.Tune in for practical tips and insights that can transform your approach and elevate your performance on the course! Andy and Brendan record this from an airport lounge phone booth before they depart for Northern Ireland, so it is somewhat “muted” compared to the normal SGS. But there is still plenty to laugh and holler about, starting with an amusing tidbit on the the Monday pro-am participants at Bay Hill getting non-participating minor leaguers despite ponying up a nice five-figure sum. Then they get to the news that LIV is withdrawing its OWGR application, and what that says about the league and the rankings. Are they illegitimate? Is everyone being a bad steward of the game right now? They also discuss Mike Weir's comments that LIV players will not be on the International team for the Presidents Cup, a statement made on March 5th that feels like self-sabotage against the larger product. The schedule for the week hits on Bay Hill and the usual amusements at that annual stop, like par-3s of the same distance and screened-in porches. They close with a rousing game of In-Out-Alternate? for the opposite field event in Puerto Rico.
