After the Jorvick Viking Centre was damaged by floods in December 2015 the attraction used the rebuilding opportunity to tell visitors more about the city's Viking history. As Kevin Bocquet discovers, the exhibition now demonstrates how Christianity and traditional Norse pagan beliefs overlapped in Viking-age York. Exactly two weeks after the terror attack in Westminster, four British Imam's travelled to Rome for a private audience with Pope Francis. Although planned long before Khalid Masood's attack, it was the latest effort at improving interfaith dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and Islam. The BBC's Religious Affairs Correspondent Martin Bashir travelled with the Imams and reports on how the meeting went. In a week of government trips abroad with Theresa May in Saudi Arabia and Liam Fox in the Philippines, Sunday asks whether post Brexit we will still be able to afford ethical foreign and trade policies? Roger Bolton puts listener questions about coverage of the Westminster attack by Khalid Masood, to the Deputy Editor of BBC News, Toby Castle. And Roger reports from the Nations and Regions Media Conference in Salford on the important BBC radio headlines from the event. While there, he talks with the Editor of The Archers, Huw Kennair-Jones. Huw answers listener questions on all manner of subjects from sex and fruity language, to whether he wants to run another Helen and Rob-style hard-hitting subject in the near future. Also this week, some listeners wonder whether the BBC has been too cowed by criticism from MPs to report sufficiently impartially on the recent Unite for Europe march. And there's a fond farewell to BBC Radio 4's Midweek programme after 35 years. Presenter: Roger Bolton Producer: Katherine Godfrey. A Whistledown production for BBC Radio 4.

We're talking about the FISA process, Retired General Michael Flynn, and the failure of the American Health Care Act. The PearlsWe comfort ourselves about our miserable election predictions by noting that we predicted that the American Health Care Act would not make it through the House of Representatives. And it didn't. Big winners: the American people for not being subjected to a half-baked, not-really-about-health-care-health-care-bill. Big losers: Paul Ryan, Donald Trump, Republicans generally. Sadly, we have two incidents of violence to acknowledge. A British man, Khalid Masood, rammed his vehicle into a crowd at Westminster Bridge in London after stabbing a police officer. His connections to Saudi Arabia have police still investigating his possible motives. On Sunday morning, a dispute escalated into a shooting in a Cincinnati, Ohio, night club, leaving one person dead and 15 injured. Our prayers are with everyone impacted in London and Cincinnati. For our compliments to the other party, Sarah tipped her hat to the Freedom Caucus for standing their ground in opposition to the AHCA. Beth complimented the Democratic lawmakers behind the Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act (the MAR-A-LAGO Act), which would require the White House to publish its visitor logs and mandate the release of visitor logs when the President conducts business...elsewhere. The SuitWe start with a mini-primer on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act ("FISA"), which was enacted in 1978 to protect Americans’ privacy in the midst of counter-terrorism efforts. A law enforcement training white paper helped us significantly in understanding key provisions of FISA. FISA was enacted to limit the presidents' power and to create a judicially-manageable standard for issuing warrants in national security investigations. The key provisions of FISA were: Non-criminal electronic surveillance can only occur for the purpose of collecting foreign intelligence and foreign counterintelligenceForeign powers and agents of foreign powers could be targeted for electronic surveillance (foreign powers and agents of foreign powers are defined in the statute—explicitly says “non US persons” — US persons are citizens, legal permanent residents, US corporations, unincorporated associates with a substantial number of members who are citizens or lawful permanent residents) The government needs probable cause to conduct surveillance (and set a probable cause standard)Established foreign intelligence surveillance courts (FISC) at the district and appellate... The London Terror Attack The man behind the London terror attack rampage that left at least five people dead, including a police officer, outside of London's Parliament building was identified as Khalid Masood.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who suffered loss. Source: London terror attack: Killer identified as 52-year-old Khalid Masood | Fox News What does this have to do with you and the good ol' USA? A lot actually. This is a copycat attack An attack similar to this has already happened in the United States It is going to happen again here Some specifics on this attack Masood, the identified killer was born in the UK. He was native. Masood had a history of violent behavior but reportedly was not on a watch list. He has been described as a family man. Masood ran his vehicle into people on the Westminster Bridge and in front of Parliament His car injured at least forty and killed three Masood then got out and engaged a police officer with a knife, killing the cop Police arriving on scene engaged and fatally shot Masood ISIS has already taken responsibility for his actions So far the death count is at five including Masood and the police officer. London is in mourning put showing that famous British "stiff upper lip". We are with you Mother England. How to Respond As always we never want anyone listening to live in fear. Ever. That said, we want you to understand this very clearly. This will happen, not just again, but many more times. In both other countries and here. Why? Because it works, very well. So, how do you protect you and your loved ones from a car or truck careening into you and others? Our standard answer as always is awareness and communication. Be aware of the threat Communicate the importance of awareness, readiness and mindset to those in your life Talk through "what if" scenarios with them So, will awareness and communication safe you from a vehicle attack? Well, maybe not. It will however give you more than a fighting chance. How so? Awareness of your immediate surroundings (Crowd? No Crowd? Escape routes?) What you carry everyday Communication with your friend or family in the moment Ability to help others in the event of an attack/real bad situation Your choice of whether or not to get further training See? Opens up many more possibilities than "oh shit, we're all gonna die!" This continued practice of awareness and communications turns the tables for you as well. You go from being a reactionary person to being as proactively ready as a situation will allow. Awareness gives us options. Options allow choice of movement. Movement is life.
